You'll have a spacious front yard and a large back deck overlooking the Wallowa River at Chimney Lake, a three-bedroom home where you can let the kids run and watch the water roll by on lazy evenings.

The third bedroom has an outside entrance down one flight of stairs - a perfect space for a small family or the early birds of the group. They'll get to enjoy their own coffee bar and outdoor seating as the rest of the group wakes up.
The large, open floor plan between the kitchen and the dining room keeps everyone together for game nights, meal prep, and movie-watching on the flatscreen TV mounted above the fireplace. The entry porch is where you'll probably find the kids, as the game table is located in this attached 'sleeping porch' that opens onto the wrap-around deck.

- "The house was super clean and very comfortable. How ever it was advertised with a ping pong table we did not find and one of the hideabeds wasn't working. This did not bother the two of us but if our family had come and we were expecting those things it could have been a hassle. Still the checkin communication and cleanliness of the property were beyond measure and the peaceful setting along with the sound of the river were just what we needed. Will definately be staying there again soon I hope!"

We were in walking distance to everything. I will be coming be booking this location again." - "We loved having the option to walk to nearby amenities in town. The unit had everything we needed to thoroughly enjoy our stay." - "This was the perfect rental for our family! We don’t need much in the way of amenities and the main family room was so comfy. Our group was made up of a 3 yr old through grandparents in their 70s and everyone agreed this was such a fun place to stay. If you need all of the latest and greatest amenities, this may not be for you, but if you’re looking for a cozy and comfortable cottage with a great family room and sense of rustic fun, this is perfect! And SOOO affordable! We lost two cutting boards behind the sink and couldn’t retrieve them. We offered to pay for them and the owner or property manager was very sweet about it and wouldn’t allow us to pay to replace them. Very hospitable and kind management. Easy access to the lake and eagle cap wilderness. So many fun things to do in this area!"

The Wallowa Lake Chalets are situated between Wallowa Lake and the Eagle Cap Wilderness. These Chalets have an open floor plan and were designed to encapsulate the natural surrounding beauty. The decks of the Chalets stand 26 ft above the ground creating some of the most surreal views that can be found anywhere in Wallowa County. The Chalets can be accessed by a ½ mile of rugged gravel road off of Wallowa Lake Hwy. The Chalets are about 8 min. from Joseph, OR.

Cozy Chalet with about 600 sqft floor plan. Each Chalet has about 275 sqft of semi-covered deck. The property is about 1/2 acre and guests are welcome to the entire property where there is a path. These are modern Chalets that were finished in 2023. They have an open floor plan with a lot of natural light. The Chalets face west, which faces the Wallowa Mtns, the Wallowa River, and Wallowa Lake.
As you enter the Chalet you will find a cozy living space with wood and a wood stove. Adjacent to the living space is the dining and kitchen area. The kitchen is fully equipt with a 4 burner stove/oven, small size refrigerator, microwave, and dishwasher. You will also find plenty of pots, pans, utensils, and a coffee maker to create your meals and anything you might need during your stay. The chalets have excellent fiber internet at 100 Mbps. However, we have purposely not furnished the Chalets with TVs.
The bathroom is on the main floor and has a large shower. The laundry room with a washer and dryer is right next to the bathroom. The chalets have two bedrooms. The first bedroom is a “loft bedroom” and has a queen bed. It is open to the downstairs living room and provides beautiful views of the Mtns and Wallowa Lake. The second bedroom, which is on the main floor, has a double-twin bunk bed. The decks at the chalets are spectacular. Each Deck has a gas grill and bar style eating area and lawn chairs for relaxing.
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:
1. Wilderness area. Adjacent to the property is 2000 acres of public land, the Chalets are also located near Oregon’s largest Wilderness area and some of the most remote backcountry in the Northwest. Thus, there are insects and wild animals. We do not use harmful chemicals or poisons to keep nature out. Please do not leave food out, this will attract insects, chipmunks, birds, foxes, coyotes, and even black bears.
2. The Chalets are on a sensitive septic system, PLEASE do not flush anything except toilet paper in the toilet.
3. Pet Policy- We are open to 4-legged family members. The Chalets are Cozy! Which makes them not ideal for dogs that have a lot of energy. Well-behaved dogs are welcome. We are open to dogs that are non-vocal, that do not need to be on the furniture, and that are chill. This might be a chill “lap dog” or an older Golden Retriever-type dog that is not interested in retrieving anymore. We cannot have dogs that bark at other guests, run wild, or bark because it is fun. Although we are open to pets there are certain guidelines to follow as not everyone who stays at the Chalets love pets. Well-behaved dogs are welcome. Dogs are not allowed on furniture or left inside or outside unattended. Please pick up after your dog and do not leave the dog outside unattended. Always keep your dog on a leash…foxes and deer frequent the property often. Pets may not be left unattended at any time. Wallowa Lake Chalets is not responsible for and will hold accountable pet owners for, any injury or damage caused by pets. In addition, the owner of the pet that causes injury or damage to others is expected to resolve the issue directly with the injured party. Thank you for following these rules.
4. Accessibility. This home is accessed by a ½ mile of rugged gravel road off of Wallowa Lake Hwy. There will be pot-holes on the road. If it is snowy or icy we highly recommend chains and vehicles with AWD/4wdr. Do NOT bring extra long Sprinter Vans or Trucks w/Extended Cabs and 8ft beds, or trailers.
5. Parents of young children should be aware that the property is located on a slope. Thus, there are a lot of rocks and at times unstable terrain around the chalets. This is not a great location for Children to be unsupervised.
6. For your safety and the safety of others we have a camera that looks over the parking lot.
7. By accepting a reservation with us, you acknowledge that the use of amenities such as fireplaces, decks, sloping property and the like may be potentially dangerous and involve potential risks if improperly used, particularly with regard to children and such use is at your own risk.
8. Winter storms are common and can be awesome. The Chalets are located at about 4300 ft elevation. Storms come in during the winter, spring, summer, and fall. This means the Chalets can lose power any time of the year, please be prepared. We do our best to manage the rugged county road during the winter. However, it may take 1-3 days for a snow-removal resource to get to the chalets after a snowstorm. From Dec-April winter storms with snow, ice, and wind are common. This means you will probably be driving on snow to access the Chalets. We do provide de-icer and snow shovels at the Chalets. If you are not comfortable driving in variable snow conditions, please do not come to the Chalets during the winter. Extensive power outages and impassable snow storms are not the norm, but they do happen. If these events do happen and negatively disrupt your stay, we will be fair and work with you.
**As the registered guest, you're required to share this information with others in your party and take responsibility for any damage(s) that might incur during your stay.
Please No smoking

Guest access
We are about 5 minutes from the remote wilderness of the Eagle Cap Wilderness area. We are 8 minutes from the town of Joseph. We are 5 minutes from Wallowa Lake State Park. You can access the 2000 acres of the East Moraine Community Forest from the Chalets. There is no direct easement access to Wallowa Lake from the Chalets. You can walk to Wallowa Lake, which is about a 15 min walk.
Other things to note
- Parking- Each Chalet has two designated parking spots. Extra long vehicles such as the 170 Sprinter Van or a QuadCab truck w/extra long bed are going to have to do a 5-10 point turn to get out. Also, the road to the chalets has pot-holes which is not ideal for vehicles that have been lowered.
- Trailers- If your trailer is light enough to be able to physically turn it and is less than 12 ft-ish feet, you should be fine. However, that will count as one of your parking spots.

The Chalets can be accessed by a ½ mile of rugged gravel road off of Wallowa Lake Hwy.

Our cozy a frame cabin has loads of appeal with large windows facing Wallowa Lake! Enjoy the views from inside or from the deck/sauna/hot tub that all overlook Wallowa Lake! Comfortable, charming, vintage cabin that has been updated and remodeled to have modern conveniences while maintaining the cozy feel of an a frame. A very popular vacation destination at Wallowa Lake!
Perfect cabin for a family, friends or for a romantic weekend with your sweetie!
The space
This was our first home we purchased on Wallowa Lake! Our family spent many long weekends here boating, relaxing in the hot tub, sitting in the sauna and watching our favorite movies. We are excited to be able to share our home with you!
When we purchased the cabin, we spent the first summer improving the space to fit our family better. We added a half bath upstairs in the master bedroom, updated the furnishings, upgraded the beds, and updated the appliances in the kitchen and added a soaking tub in the downstairs bathroom. We’ve tried to think of all of the things that could make days spent on the lake even better!
The entry to the cabin is off of the main deck. Open the door to a large open floor plan with the living, dining, and kitchen all in one space. This kept all of us together during movie nights and meal prep.
The living room of the cabin has a large flat screen TV and plenty of comfortable seating. The dining table butts up into the kitchen providing extra meal prep space or plenty of room to sit your whole family around for family dinner. The main floor bathroom we expanded to include a stack washer and dryer and a soaking tub.
Up the flight of stairs and you’ll see Wallowa Lake from the sliding door off the master bedroom with a small sitting patio. We added a half bath in 2023 off of the master bedroom. The second bedroom has two newly updated queen sized beds.
Our favorite space is the large and modern boat dock with a ladder, the steps that lead down to the sauna and the hot tub that all have a view of Wallowa Lake! We’ve added privacy screens around the deck and the hot tub providing just a bit more privacy for those enjoying those areas.
We also love that our home is on the West side of Wallowa Lake so you’ll have about a 15 minute drive into Joseph, or a 30 minute drive to the resort side of Wallowa Lake. It helped keep our family together to enjoy the lake instead of having them go and explore.
We are excited to get to share our home with you and yours. We hope you return to your busy lives rested and recharged and full of memories!

You’ll get to enjoy every inch of our home and property privately!

The space
You will have access to both Chalets, which are identical. Each Chalet is about 600 sqft floor plan. Each Chalet has about 275 sqft of semi-covered deck. The property is about 1/2 acre and guests are welcome to the entire property where there is a path. Each Chalet is a 2 bedroom w/ 1 bath.

Please do not leave food out, this will attract insects, chipmunks, birds, foxes, coyotes, and even black bears.
2. The Chalets are on a sensitive septic system, PLEASE do not flush anything except toilet paper in the toilet.
3. Pet Policy- We are open to 4-legged family members. The Chalets are Cozy! Which makes them not ideal for dogs that have a lot of energy. Well-behaved dogs are welcome. We always recommend 4x4, chains, or studded tires to get to our winter open houses. Some renters have better traction tires and can access the homes without them, but we don't recommend it. Also, many Les Schwab Tire Centers can purchase tire chains; if you don't use them, they will take them on return.
No pets are allowed at this vacation rental.
