About the Property
Best Palisades Tahoe Location!
Palisades Tahoe USA, site of the 1960 Winter Olympics, is a fabulous ski resort offering a broad range of terrain. We have skied all over the Lake Tahoe area, and this is by far our favorite mountain. The Village has cobblestone pedestrian walks, numerous restaurants and shops, and is the perfect social hub during the winter months.

Parking reservations are now required at Palisades Tahoe. They offer paid and unpaid reservations, which must be made on Tuesday for the upcoming weekend. Happily for those staying in the valley, there is a free, on-demand, door-to-door shuttle called The Mountaineer that will take you directly from our cabin to the slopes. Download the Mountaineer App on your Smart phone for hours, destinations and to request a ride/pick up.

An additional benefit to staying with us in the valley is skipping the 30min-1hr traffic jams that routinely clog I-80 for those driving from Tahoe City or Truckee.

Serene Winter Cabin Escape
Designed by well known Squaw Valley Architect, Dave Tucker, this single level house is warm and inviting, offering peace and serenity just one mile from the lifts of Palisades Tahoe (Formerly Squaw Valley) USA. The 14 foot high floor to ceiling windows fill the home with light and a grand feeling of connection to the outdoors. Privately nestled in the trees next to Squaw Creek, enjoy watching the snow fall outside, or curl up on the day beds while a fire crackles in the volcanic-rock fireplace. Slip into the eight person deluxe outdoor hot tub to unwind and relax while you listen to the babbling brook. Snow shoe or cross country ski in the meadow across the street or on the many trails nearby.

Mountain Fun All Summer Long
In spring, summer or fall walk out onto the large deck for afternoon BBQ's or a nap in the hammock. Climb on the granite boulders in the creek (or the one that comes through the deck). Enjoy the flat yard and deck area next to the creek ideal for kids to play. The house is located on a flat street and private cul-de- sac offering easy access during winter (no steep icy roads to navigate and no need to shovel or climb snowy icy stairs to get into the house!) and an ideal playground for kids in both summer and winter. There is an adjacent bike path which you can walk or bike to the nearby soccer field, hiking trails, or playground and take in all of natures beauty any time of year. You can also bike from here all the way to Tahoe City along the Truckee river- one of our favorites!

Comfortable Accommodations for the Whole Family
This home offers a great floorplan! There are two bedrooms with king beds and a bunkroom that will accommodate up to six people. In addition, there are two day beds in the living room and a pullout couch in one of the bedrooms. This house is ideal for one or two families with children and is sure to leave you with amazing memories of a fabulous vacation in the mountains!

Contact Linda by phone, text or email for a prompt response-text is best!

Guest Reviews:

- "Great house, comfortable and stocked with everything we needed. Perfect for two adult couples with kids. The girls loved the bunk beds. We enjoyed the forest views, creek behind the house, feeding the Stellar blue jays and great deck to enjoy the mornings and evenings listening to nature. We enjoyed the convenience of proximity to both Truckee and Tahoe. We would return! Thank you for sharing. " - "We had a wonderful stay in Olympic Valley with our 2-year old and my parents. The house was well-equipped and perfectly set up for our family. Our son loved the foosball table, the deck, the creek, and the toys (snowball fight with cotton snowballs was so much fun). The hot tub and access to Olympic Valley trails was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for the great stay! "

- "Lanny drive is in a great location to the village, Truckee River, & Lake Tahoe! We loved that the house was the second to be built in the valley, but with modern updates!" - "We loved this house! The history and the windows and the SAUNA! Would love to stay again." - "Great stay with group of friends, Eric was super responsive. So much snow!" - "Our family had a lovely time at the ski chalet for a week in February. The views out of the living room are so great, especially with a roaring fire and snow falling outside. The kitchen is well stocked, we cooked every night but one where we went out for dinner. Children loved the ring toss game and all the fun board games and bunkbeds that every ski house should have. Getting to/from the resort is easy via the Mountaineer service which is free and door-to-door. For bookings with multiple families, there are plenty of beds but the size/layout of the house make it best enjoyed with families that are comfortable with each other."

" - "Overall perfect location. The Mountaineer app TART shuttle will pick up / drop off right at front door. We felt if there’s a fireplace, the owner/PM should provide at least a little wood for enjoyment. Also, the gas burners on the stove were out but no big deal we just lit them with lighter. Communication was pretty good and timely, only a few discrepancies here and there. We would stay here again. Note to owners: you have a perfect deck for a hot tub hint hint thank you! 4.5 Stars! "

Guest Reviews:

- "The home was clean and accurately described in the listing. The host was very responsive before and during the stay to help with anything. The check-in process was super smooth with no problems. The home also has a beautiful view from its deck that we enjoyed each morning. All the bedrooms were well stocked with more than enough bedding and the kitchen had everything we needed too. The only things to be aware of when booking this place is that it does require going up 2-3 flights of steep stairs to access the home which wasn’t a big deal for us but could be for certain groups. The walkways and living area are a bit tight as well and the spiral stairs to access the loft are pretty narrow. Nothing extreme but wouldn’t recommend for more elderly individuals. Overall we loved the home and enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others. The location worked great for us too where it felt quiet and relaxed while still having easy access to the lake. "

Guest Reviews:

- "Easy access to Alpine. Great house. Everything worked fine." - "Entry way smelled strongly of dog, vomit and mold. Rest of the house smelled of dog. Disgustingly dirty carpets. Dirty rags found stuffed into several kitchen drawers (on top of presumably clean things). Dirty laundry left in piles in the closets and in the washer & dryer. Dryer didn't work (even with their suggested "fix" it stopped after 10 minutes, every time). Oven made the whole house smell like gas, was very dirty and didn't work properly. Locked garage and challenges with snow removal. Help line for Avantstay was located in a foreign call center and they were clearly reading a script, very unhelpful. Loved the location but would not stay there again because it was dirty, unmaintained and unsupported by Avantstay."

Tranquil 60s cabin, 4min to skiing, free shuttle
Cabin
Alpine Meadows, California, USA

This is a truly one-of-a-kind property in Tahoe: it's five minutes away from the Alpine Meadows resort, but it feels like it's all alone in the woods. A pilot built the home in the 1960s, and we try to honor this history while updating the home with all the modern conveniences. Fast wifi, smart keyless lock, and updated kitchen and bathrooms are just the start of the improvements we've made to the property. Our updates and uses of technology blend seamlessly with the cabin's overall aesthetic.

This cabin features a one-car garage, with room for two or three more cars in the driveway. From the garage, you walk to the door under a covered porch before entering the Sparklebridge, which connects the garage to the main house. This means there's no shoveling in the winter! The bridge ends in a small entryway for leaving your shoes and outerwear before walking into the kitchen and dining area. We find it so convenient to walk into the kitchen and drop our bags after the drive to the cabin.

The kitchen features an induction cooktop, perfect for life in the mountains. It's fast and safe, with a conduction oven and five burners. An LG fridge and kitchen island round out this space. The kitchen is well-stocked with cookware, gadgets, and utensils, and we keep plenty of pantry essentials on hand for all your cooking needs. The kitchen connects to the living room, with a wood stove and built-in seating on the far wall. When you open the windows in the living room, you can hear Bear Creek running outside. It's my favorite spot for settling in with a good book!

The master suite, The Canopy, is also on the main floor, with a queen bed, workspace, and bath with a stall shower and Toto bidet toilet. The workspace has a 27" 4K monitor on a swingarm, mouse and keyboard, and a monochrome laser printer.

Moving downstairs, you'll find the laundry area with LG washer and dryer, as well as two more bedrooms and a bathroom.

The larger bedroom, The Understory, is perfect for families, with a king bed, two twin beds, and a 55" Samsung Frame television.

The smaller bedroom, The Forest Floor, has a queen bed and is ideal for couples.

The downstairs bath has a stall shower and a Toto bidet toilet.

You'll find high-quality LED lighting on dimmer switches, excellent wifi, and luxe furnishings everywhere in the home. We've worked with artists to create genuinely unique artworks for the property, and we continue to make incremental improvements throughout the space.

Mt. Jola by Avantstay Vintage Squaw Valley Perched Under The Tram!
Cabin
Tahoe City, California, USA

Welcome to Mt. Jola, an AvantStay home!

Built in 1955, this Squaw Valley home gives guests the unique opportunity to stay at a historic property that housed reporters during the 1960 Olympics. Inside, you’ll find eclectic, old school interiors that will transport you to a different place and time: colorful art, patterned wallpaper, and wooden everything. Fun fact– the home’s vintage beams once framed the railroad tunnels of Donner Summit! The property is reminiscent of an oversized treehouse with a charming library nook with office space, large windows, and a sprawling patio under the pines. It’s conveniently located within walking distance to the ski lifts and village, where you’ll find shops, restaurants, and bars for an après-ski drink. Cheers!

Situated in the snowy Sierra Nevada Mountain range straddling the border between California and Nevada, Lake Tahoe offers stunning panoramic scenery and year-round adventure. Visitors flock here especially to ski and snowboard on dramatic slopes that seem to fall into the abyss of the lake’s cobalt blue water. Whether you’re looking for a day in the mountains or a booze cruise on the lake, you can have it all in Tahoe.

Nearby Attractions: William Kent Beach, Kilner Park (Hiking and Biking), Squaw Valley Ski Resort, Alpine Meadows Ski Area, Pete n’ Peters (nightlife), Eagle Falls Trail (Hiking), Lighthouse Spa, Fire Sign Cafe, Inspiration Point Vista (Lookout Point).

Experience Lake Tahoe, AvantStay Style.

A quiet, clean, furnished room with a view of rugged mountains; located less than a mile from Palisades Tahoe (formerly Squaw Valley). Byron's Bach - Bright & Comfy Gem - Hot Tub - View
Cabin
Northern California

Byron’s Bach is a cozy 1960s cabin in Alpine Meadows with floor-to-ceiling windows, a private hot tub, and Bear Creek running through the backyard.

Just steps from hiking and biking trails, and just minutes to Lake Tahoe and Palisades.

The Nordic-inspired interior blends vintage charm and modern comfort, with plush bedding, a full kitchen, and forest views from every room.

Soak in the tub or take a refreshing cold plunge after a day of adventure.

The space
Byron’s Bach (pronounced “batch”) is named after our dog, Byron, and inspired by New Zealand’s tradition of simple, soulful holiday homes. In true Kiwi style, it’s a place to relax, recharge, and connect with nature.

Tucked into the woods of Alpine Meadows, this cozy 1960s cabin blends vintage Nordic charm with modern comfort. As you arrive, a friendly bear statue greets you—one of many small, personal touches you’ll find throughout the property.

Follow the forest path to the front door and step into a peaceful retreat. The entryway includes a laundry room with brand new washer and dryer, perfect for post-adventure cleanup.

The main living space features floor-to-ceiling windows with sweeping forest views. Curl up in the Nordic-inspired lounge with curated books, board games, and a record player. The breakfast nook is perfect for slow mornings, while the fully stocked kitchen includes new appliances, cookware, and even a compact dishwasher named “Bob.”

Each bedroom features plush bedding, climate control, and thoughtful design touches. The back room also includes a dedicated work-from-home space if needed. Bathrooms are stocked with soft towels and eco-friendly essentials.

Outside, the private hot tub, fire pit, and deck with dining space invite you to soak in the Alpine air. In warmer months, take a refreshing cold plunge in Bear Creek, which runs through the backyard—an unforgettable experience.

From hiking and mountain biking to skiing and quiet stargazing, Byron’s Bach is your home base for all seasons in Lake Tahoe. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Guest access
We will provide you with a unique door code prior to check-in. We have two parking spaces at the property, both in our driveway. We also have an electric car charger - feel free to use this during your stay.

Other things to note
Lake Tahoe gets A LOT of snow during the winter. Our bach is located at the base of Alpine Meadows, so we get even more snow than the average neighborhood. To paint the picture, it is not uncommon to get over 55 inches of snow in one week. The county plows all the roads, including neighborhoods but they only come a few times a day. We also have a shovel/plow service that comes to clear our walkways and the driveway if it snows ~6 inches, however timing of when they come is inconsistent. PLEASE plan ahead and ensure you have a vehicle that can handle the snow (4WD / AWD). You can always text me if the plow team is needed, especially if the snow is blocking the driveway.

Be sure to check out the Mountaineer shuttle service during the winter; they are a free, on-demand shuttle service for the Alpine Meadow / Palisades neighborhoods. Download the app to find out how to schedule a front-door pick-up!

We also have exterior cameras in the front and back of the house - these are for everyone’s safety, to track snowfall, and deliveries, and help me manage our all-weather landscape teams.

We have a grill on our back deck - feel free to use this! There should always be a spare propane tank in the grill - if not, let me know and I'll do what I can to organize something for you. If you're up for it, feel free to refill the tank at Swigards Hardware in Tahoe City and we will reimburse you.

Our cabin is pet-friendly; after all, our place is named after our dog, Byron. Pets will be approved on a case-by-case basis. Please note, we only allow one pet; bringing a pet will incur an additional $50/ week charge - please be sure to include your pet in your booking.

Cozy 4BR Cabin Walking Distance to Palisades Tahoe
Cabin
Olympic Valley

Welcome to our Cozy House at Palisades in Olympic Valley with beautiful mountain views on a quiet street nestled on a hill. The new gondola means you have easy access to both Palisades and Alpine, the best 2 ski hills in Tahoe. Just six blocks (1/2 mile) down the hill is first class skiing and Palisades, the Village for meals and shopping and a tram ride up the mountain and gorgeous hiking trails with waterfalls.

The space
You enter next to the garage with a keypad doorlock and then go 2 flights up the stairs to the main living space. You’ll pass the first floor where there is a private bedroom with its own workspace and full bathroom. As you get to the main level, it opens up to reveal high peaked wood ceilings, a large kitchen table, and beautiful view. The family room has a deck off it and a shuffleboard table (that can also be used for bowling) a wood fireplace and TV. The well equipped kitchen has a 12 cup coffee maker and bean grinder as well as a milk frother, for you fans of great coffee and tea. The loft overlooks the main living space and has a table & daybed/trundle that can be made into 2 twin beds or a king. We don’t list it as a bedroom just yet because we want to improve the quirky ladder-stairs up to it. (which we don't recommend for small children, or anyone who is not well balanced. The paddle shaped steps require you to have the correct foot on the correct side or you'll slip).

Next to the kitchen are 3 bedrooms and a laundry space and a full bathroom off the hall. One of the bedrooms has its own bathroom and tub as well as lots of built-in drawer space for an extended stay.

The garage has a new Rivian charger that puts out 240Volts per hour. Next to it, at the bottom of the stairs, you can warm and dry your boots with the boot warmer! We always like to walk to Olympic Village because it’s so close, just be sure and have shoes with tread and keep your knees bent if it’s icy. If you don't want to walk to the village, there's a FREE shuttle that will come to you like an uber to take you to the village. The trails nearby are our favorite in the Tahoe area. There are waterfalls not far from the trailhead that starts at the parking lot behind Palisades. Some smaller ones are also not far from our neighborhood trailhead 3 blocks away!

Guest access
You have access to the whole place!

Other things to note
Please note there are 2 flights of stairs to climb to get to the main living space.

This is not a party house. We prefer guests who are considerate and respectful with our beloved cabin, and guests who follow the rules. For example: the rule of no pets, unless special permission is given.

Other things to note
GROUP NUMBER
Please be honest and respect the maximum number of guests (8) that will be staying at the cabin. We are permitted through Placer County for this number of guests, and any additional guest could put our permit in jeopardy. If you have a much larger group, please reach out to us and we can refer you to other cabins built for hosting more people.

*NEW Mas de la Neige | Palisades
Cabin
Olympic Valley

Mas de la Neige is a wanderlust treehouse in North Tahoe. It's perfectly designed to allow nature and architecture to intertwine. The name means "country house in the snow" to reflect the snowy peaks of Palisades Tahoe that surround it. A true woodsy experiential home complete with a campfire fireplace, wrap around porch and barrel sauna. Kids will giggle their way across the zip-line, soaring through the trees. A custom bunk room and decor will spark their imagination.

Complimentary shuttle.

The space
The Miller's bought Mas de la Neige for their love of architecture. The home has an exposed redwood beam construction and an open hearth fireplace that is the centerpiece of the living space. The beauty and warmth of the gathering space is truly the heart of the home. They are so excited to open up the space to guests.

The home was remodeled in 2020 with the goal of preserving the original integrity and natural materials of the home while enhancing the mid-century modern flare. The original builder owned a sawmill in NorCal in the 1960's with access to lumber that is very hard to come by today. In addition to adding more custom space the Miller's modernized the cabin with upgraded systems and utilities while maintaining the rustic charm. They have included inspiring art and furnishings pieces throughout the home.

Today, Mas de le Neige is the perfect Tahoe abode for family, friends and guests. This is not a typical Airbnb, this is a unique-stay home with top tier amenities made for creating memories!

As a guest you will have access to a Peloton, outdoor gym, cold shower (weather permitting), barrel sauna, private play structure and zipline, and two premium Rad e-bikes.

This home has ample space for twelve guests and is very welcoming for children. The upstairs office/murphy bedroom is a great location, near the master, for a portable or full-size crib.

Together we are excited to host you!
