Some things to note and appreciated: the gravelled area out front for our personal parking space; the cute porch furnished with 2 chairs and a small table, to sit outside and soak in the sun while enjoying a drink; the touches of esthetic rustic/country decor, the super comfortable queen sized bed, and oh-so comfy pillows, linens, quilts, a kitchen size sink, mini keurig, electric kettle, toaster  microwave, some glassware and silverware, and THE lovely bathroom, ALL made for a wonderful getaway very pleasant and relaxing.  This place offered more than I expected and it was especially CLEAN, which is high on my list of expectations. The conveniences of the cabin and nearby drive into town, local shops and restaurants, trails and look-out have me looking forward to our next stay. I highly recommend these accommodations. One of the owners I spoke to, Twila, was and is very quick to respond though she was out of state. Originally, we were to stay at theTalkeetna Lodge up the road but I am very glad to find this as our alternative. It will be our first choice the next time ;) "

Each cabin has a charcoal grill, and the office will sell briquettes and lighter fluid if needed. A private cabin rental on small campground situated on 15 acres, you will feel like you are out in the middle of nowhere as you gaze out at the calm lake, yet just down the street you will find everything you need to stock your kitchen from a full line grocery store.

The house is the one cabin rental at The Talkeetna Lake Retreat that consists of a large yard overlooking Little Montana Lake, 4 kayaks reserved for your private use, fishing poles, sauna, hot tub, access to paved bike trails that can take you to shops and restaurants downtown ( 14 mile bike path), and beautiful park overlook area with cross country walking trails along the lake right next door at the local high school.

The house is 500 square feet and has 2 sleeping areas, one queen bedroom, and a trundle bed is set up in the living room, which consists of 2 twin mattresses total, but can be converted to a king bed by raising the lower mattress. 1 bathroom includes a walk in shower, and stack laundry center. The house is also equipped with WiFi, and a 65” flat screen TV with a selection of DVDs to choose from.

Owners Derek and Jessica are ready to assist in making your stay a wonderful one, as they reside in another cabin next door.

Talkeetna Tiny House Cabin 'Aspen’: new winter 2023. Aspen is a unique tiny house addition to our cozy property nestled in the natural Fish Lake Subdivision, just 5 miles from downtown Talkeetna. Drive into your peaceful modern getaway located right next to the Fish Lake Multi-Use Trailhead, accessible both winter and summer. We have designed our three tiny cabins to enjoy the best of Alaska, from a walk or ski to the lake/trail system, bike on the paved path, or to enjoy our unique downtown.

It has a queen bed and a chair that converts to a single floor futon (37"x80"). This space is best suited for a couple or couple and one child. Although the space is small, you will not lack for amenities that make you feel spoiled in the natural wooded surroundings. We have excellent WiFi, a 43” Roku TV where you can log into your own accounts and watch your favorite shows, a shower room with a wall mounted hairdryer, a separate room with a toilet and mini sink, electric wall mounted fireplace, electric heat, in-counter dishwasher, two burner counter top stove, microwave, dorm size refrigerator, coffee pot, and fully stocked kitchen. We supply hotel quality linens and bedding. Although this cabin is new, we are not new to the business and have hundreds of 5 star reviews on our original cabin that we call Denali. Denali Cabin sits on the back of the property, and has a separate driveway, Dragonfly Cabin, Aspen’s twin shares a driveway with Aspen and has the same design. You will also be able to enjoy an outdoor 21” pan fire stove fire-pit and 4 chairs as well as enough firewood to get you started. There are a total of three cabins on 1.7 acres. You are provided with one parking space next to the cabin. You can also use on-street parking if needed.

The Hunter cabin has a queen bed, futon, gas fireplace, satellite HD TV with DVD player, WIFI, dining area, microwave, mini fridge, coffee brewer and full bathroom. The cabin has vaulted ceilings, rustic log/frame construction featuring Alaskan décor, private covered deck with log glider, four large windows for cross ventilation, and free parking. We do not charge a cleaning fee or take a security deposit.

The timber frame cabin is a rustic Alaskan cabin tucked away on our 30 acre homestead. We have a fully equipped kitchen for all your culinary needs and a full bath with all necessary toiletries. A lot of the furniture in the cabin was handmade right here on the homestead with trees we milled ourselves. This cabin has a private fire pit and free parking space for your convenience. We welcome you to share our homestead, and allow guests to enjoy our gardens, eat some strawberries and even help themselves to some eggs from our coop. During winter we have miles of well groomed ski trails for guests to use. Aside from the cabin, we also offer dog sledding and snow mobile tours. We offer the amazing rates for 24 hour UTV/ATV rentals, just for guests at our cabins.

At the end of the drive is a bluff with views of the Alaska Range (including Denali, Foraker & Hunter), as well as the Alaska Railroad.
If you're lucky enough to be here in berry season, please help yourself (within reason) to the blueberry patch - halfway down drive.
As anywhere in Alaska, bear and moose awareness should be practiced diligently.

*The "Back 5" has a sparsely used shop (at end of drive); please respect privacy/property around the building. You're welcome (encouraged really) to use the bluff outhouse, though.

Red John’s cabin

In 2017 Red Johns cabin was placed on Alaska’s 10 most endangered historic properties list by the AAHP.
In 2018/2019 this adorable cabin was restored with help from Alaska’s Historic Preservation Fund. It is one of 13 buildings contributing to Talkeetna’s historic district on the NPS National Register of Historic Places.

Other things to note
Our solar-powered cabins are "dry." Each cabin has a brand new private outhouse, however, we do not have pressured running hot water. The cabins include a sink area with a large decanter of potable water with fresh towels for you to wash up and to brush your teeth.

Please note that although we don't have internet, there is local AT&T cell service that averages two to three bars.
