- "very close to the beach, just over the road, its better less stony if you walk about 10 mins to the right, about 5 min walk to reception, lodge is located in a quiet park of the park, I always take a tv as my son is socially anxious, and didnt leave the lodge at all, until we left, I felt it would of been useful to have a tv in the double room, as my son took over the only tv, with his xbox, and i got sent to my room, to watch tv, it was nice having the decking outside, could do with outdoor table, as it was nice I had my lunch outside, well equipped lodge, park looked nice and clean, I didn't sleep very well, i think that was down to the mattress topper that was smaller than the bed, we didn't use the entertainment so i cant comment on that, the onsite chip shop was a nightmare, it was half term, they were short staffed, opened an hour later than advertised, and then an hours wait, first night, I gave up after an hour, tried 2nd night, and waited an hour again, but got food that time, only 2 sausage and 2 chips! but isn't owned by Parkdean its independent "

- "We were a little apprehensive, given its close proximity to Pontins and potential car-parking issues with weekend visitors to the beach. Instead this is a quiet friendly estate with some children playing in the street (no playground as far as we are aware) and occasional dog walkers. The accommodation was fabulous, reasonably modern and very comfortable for 2 (perhaps a squeeze for 4). Location is great, as we mixed time on the beach with exploring the coastline, castles and gardens in the area. Managers Richard and Sofie were welcoming and quick to respond to any questions. Many thanks."

- "An enjoyable stay and great service." - "Ideally positioned for the beach and local hospitality. Being at the end of a cul-de-sac meant no traffic and relaxing with toddlers" - "This property is moments from the beach and has beautiful decor. It was very clean and on arrival had lots of personal touches including a lemon cake and short bread from the local farm shop. We spent a day in Rye which was only a 15 minute drive away. The only downside was that the heating was centrally controlled and was too warm (programmed to 23.5 degrees). Additionally, the hot water is only programmed within certain times which meant two of the women staying had to wait 1 hour for a hot shower as it was off my 10.30am. However, the owner came around straight away to assist with this so we really cannot fault the service. Otherwise this was a lovely stay and we would come again."

Sea Defence Works and Nearby Military Firing Range
Our properties are situated near the Lydd Ranges, a historic military firing range that has been in use for over 150 years. This unique area is also a nature reserve and part of the Dungeness, Romney Marsh, and Rye Bay Site of Special Scientific Interest, home to incredibly rare plants and animals. While this adds to the natural beauty and significance of the area, it also means that certain times the ranges won't be accessible to walk along. Don't worry as there will still be several miles of beach to walk along as you head to Camber.
Military Firing Range Information:
Access to the foreshore is occasionally restricted due to live firing exercises. Red flags are flown during these times, indicating that access is prohibited for safety reasons.
When firing is not taking place, it may be possible to walk along a designated path along the shore, offering a chance to enjoy this unique environment.
- "Lovely cottage to spend a week away at. Well equipped for cooking and nicely positioned a little outside Camber with a beautiful sandy beach right on the doorstep. Booking process was all very smooth and well organised. Definitely recommend and would visit again." - "We wanted to stay right beside the sea for a short break over half-term and this cottage delivered! The welcome book (on-line) is really clear about how to get in and what to do, etc. so on arrival we turned up, got the key and in we went, to be greeted by a beautiful loaf of lemon cake (sooo good!) and a lovely bottle of Prosecco. The cottage is traditional in appearance and had nice pictures, etc. on the walls. The heating system is a Nest and is so simple to use if we were cold. We didn't use the log burner as wasn't really cold enough but can imagine the heat it pumps out when using it! All facilities you need are there, from great WiFi, Coffee Manchine and even Washing Machine. It is so close to the beach, you can hear the waves crashing on the rocks at high tide. Walks on the beach and the sea defences were brilliant at blowing the cobwebs away either early in the morning, during the day or late at night in the dark! The local area, especially Rye, is lovely and well worth a visit. Day trip to Dover Castle and Canterbury were no problems from here. Highly recommend and should we choose to visit this part of the world again, we will look to stay here!"

- "The property is fantastic - 7 of us stayed on a girls’ weekend away and it was perfect for relaxing and spending time together. The location is great for the beach and a walk into Rye. Shame the gallivant was closed on the Saturday, I’ve enjoyed their cocktails on previous trips! The owners kindly let us have a late check out and responded to any communication very quickly. Would thoroughly recommend the house." - "Had a very good stay, lots of space very comfortable and only a 10 minute walk from the beach."

- "Very well located, super comfortable. Very recommended" - "Fantastic place to holiday! The house was really spacious and possible to relax in both the kitchen and living room. Loved sitting on the sofa in the kitchen with the patio door open, soaking up the winter sun. Bedrooms all really good size. The photo makes the twin room seem small but it’s not. Right by the beach- 5 minutes walk, especially once you know the short cut out of the road, and over the sand dunes. Lots of shells to pick and great sand for sandcastles ( not that we made any!). We also did kite buggying with Camber Kitesurfing. Well recommended and very patient coach! We had dinner at The Owl which made the best fish pie and a great selection of puddings, all of which were so good! Rye was a good hours walk along the beach and river, and we felt there was enough there to go back a couple of times."

That could have been an issue if we had been dressing up to eat out, especially as the description of the facilities specifically says an iron is provided. Kitchen a little short of storage space and getting a bit tired. Having said that, would definitely stay there again." - "We had a really lovely few days stay. The garage has been converted to a games room complete with ping pong table.
- "Very clean and the kitchen / dinning area really worked for family meals. Even a box of toys for our four year old grandson. Excellent location for visiting castles in the area and the sunsets when out walking on Camber sands were spectacular. I would rebook this property if I was coming back to this area again. Many thanks for all you provided for us." - "House was clean, light and airy and modern. Everything you needed for a comfortable, enjoyable stay! Lovely courtyard at the back with modern table, chairs and parasol, which we took advantage of and ate our breakfast out there every day and then rattan corner seats to relax on. Highly recommend!"

Wake in comfort to the sound of the sea, explore the misty brooding Romney Marsh, then warm up in the many atmospheric pubs with intriguing histories, resident ghouls, roaring fireplaces, cracking ales and tasty pub grub, walk along our pebbled beach, look out across the shimmering blue sea and you'll feel like you've discovered another world.
Stay at Coastguard's Lookout and discover a landscape full of myth's and legends, surrounded by the haunting loneliness of Romney Mash. A flat, open landscape of wide skies and fields criss-crossed by a lattice of drainage ditches, where yellow waterlilies float in early summer, it offers the opportunity to wander quiet lanes and paths and to visit some of its famous medieval churches and the vast stretch of historic invasion coast.
Built in this secluded spot, to help guard against smuggling and invasion, this beautiful renovated coastguard cottage is the perfect location for a holiday away from the hustle and bustle of modern life.

Coastguards Lookout Holiday Cottage
Find your next cosy bolt-hole at Coastguards, set in a splendid semi-wilderness you wouldn't expect to discover just under two hours from London. Barely a moment's walk to the beach, Coastguards' Lookout is the end-unit of the three-unit Coastguard Cottages, built 1875.
With miles of often-empty beach, a towering sky overhead and wind fresh with Atlantic salt, ‘Coastguards Lookout' is all about relaxation. Kick off your shoes, shake the city dust from your hair and wander back to that bit of yourself that gets lost in the hustle and bustle of modern life.
Quite wild, yet intensely peaceful, with dramatic views in every direction, Coastguards Lookout has been fully and carefully renovated. It retains all of traditional features, but is enhanced with modern furnishings and finishes and decorated in a playful seaside style.
Dining & Lounging
The open plan kitchen/dining room features a breakfast bar made from rustic, locally sourced wood, complemented by a coffee machine, induction hob, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and music player.
If you're seeking fresh ingredients for dinner, The Cottage is only few minutes' drive from the medieval Cinque Port town of Rye, where you will find local farm shops with Salt Marsh Lamb, fishmongers selling straight from the boats, and a wide variety of welcoming pubs and restaurants for dining out.
Step through the kitchen to the snug lounge. When the evening chill settles in, this is the perfect place to relax on cosy furnishings in front of the log-burning stove, watch TV, or read that book you keep putting off.
Bed & Bath
Head upstairs to the spacious master bedroom, with its super king-size bed and expansive views over the marsh where local smugglers plied their trade. From this room, climb further to the attic room and enjoy an exceptional bath under the stars, with the sea's waves as your soundtrack.
Across the landing from the master bedroom is the family bathroom with a luxurious walk-in shower and views across the bay and sea.
The second bedroom has two zip link 3-foot beds—perfect for children, or push them together for a couple. Sea views and a small flat screen TV compete for your attention (we think the sea and sunsets will win most of the time!).
Outdoors
Outside, the wood decked south facing rear garden is decorated with buoys and features an extraordinary fence made entirely from reclaimed sea-groynes. With another dining table and benches outside the back door, it is the ideal place to relax and enjoy a glass of wine (or two, or three) after a day of exploring.
Coastguards Lookout also benefits from access to an extended garden; a large area of grass beside the cottage that is perfect for ball games or just lazing around in the sun—and definitely a place to sip a sundowner as the sun slips away.
- "The house is great - cosy, comfortable, well-equipped, nicely decorated - and is very close to the sea. There is a beach two minutes' walk from the house which at low tide is expansive, with sand and shingle, and you can walk all the way to Camber Sands if you're feeling energetic. Otherwise it is a very short drive to Camber, where the beach is beautiful, as there are stunning dunes and there is very little development. It is also not far to drive to Rye one way and Dungeness the other, both of which have their charms. We liked the bleakness of Dungeness a lot, although we found the food at the Pilot Inn only so-so. Still worth it for sitting outside and looking across the shingle to the sea, though. The location of the house is not quite as picturesque or as remote as it can seem from the photos, as it is close to the road, flanked by an MoD firing range, and has some rather scruffy houses close by - but we liked it immensely anyway, for the proximity of the sea and other places to visit not too far away. And I liked the view out of the bedroom window across the marshes to the wind turbines. The beds are also incredibly comfy and we all slept well. One of the best things about the house is the digital guide that comes with it - which is exceptional, providing great information on where to shop, eat, visit - helping us discover amazing hot chocolate in Rye, a really fun animal park (with safari) in Lympne, an evocative castle with a moat in Bodiam, a great pub lunch (the Owl) in Camber and so forth. And the manager, Sophie, was very responsive when we had a problem with the wifi, which was resolved quickly. All in all, a great stay, only 2 hours' drive from London where we live, and a real break. We would happily return."

Region: With many quaint, seaside and market towns, historic sites and miles of glorious coastline to explore, Sussex has it all for a great holiday destination.
Town: Camber is situated on the Sussex coast between Rye and Lydd. This part of the coastline is known for its beautiful sandy beaches and safe bathing, an ideal family holiday location. When the sea goes out there is up to half a mile of sand before you can dip a toe in the water, even when the tide is in, children can paddle safely due to the gradients of the sands. The sand dunes that protect this area are havens for picnics, giving shelter and privacy. Camber is a hot spot for watersports enthusiasts, the beaches running from here to Jury’s Gap are perfect for all forms of sea and watersports, including windsurfing and sailing, hang-gliding and sand yachting, to name but a few! Two well established centres offer tuition for those taking their first plunge, and they also have equipment and wetsuits available for hire for those whose taste for the sea and its exhilarating air have already taken hold, and the car parking is free! Camber is less well known than many other towns which runs along this coastline, but still has a lot to offer visitors. Excellent food is served by the two pubs which are both close to the beach, as well as a hotel with restaurant offering a more formal dining experience. Shops are more limited in Camber, but Rye, only four miles away, offers visitors a complete range from quaint and quirky to everyday essentials, along with its museums, art galleries, tea rooms and even a castle! Relaxing and rejuvenating, Camber offers a holiday that brings out the days of sand castles and swimming in the sea before enjoying a fish and chip supper at the end of another day to remember!
- "Very lovely place " - "A truly beautiful cottage, so lovingly furnished – the glass porch and the boathouse that go with it have made it even more beautiful. We enjoyed our time there very much. The dog also thought it was paradise – especially the beautiful walks along the fields and streams right behind the house. "

- "Had a lovely stay at Camber cottage with my family, small things let this property down. Firstly the house wasn't as clean as we hoped and we found light bulbs missing and some not working. The extractor fan in kitchen didn't work. Perfect place for a family beach holiday just needs a little attention and it would be perfect. The table tennis table was a great hit." - "Modern reasonably spacious 4 bedroom house on pleasant small varied estate 5 minutes walk from the famous and splendid Camber beach. House was clean and warm. Good heating and hot water system. Bathrooms good. Kitchen well equipped. Table tennis table in the garage and lots of games etc in the house . Good WiFi. Master bedroom with en-suite is excellent, double bedroom good, three single bed room a bit cramped and 4th single room is very small, more of a box room. House is equipped for eight but would be better for 6 if all adults. How ever our stay was most enjoyable and I can recommend this property."

The house was spotless, and was kitted out with everything we needed, down to loo rolls, tea towels, hand soap, dishwasher and washing machine tablets. No need to bring anything than your own toiletries and beach towels. It had added extras like a Nespresso coffee machine and multi room Alexa. All within a 10 min walk from the sandy dunes of Camber beach, and a few pubs/restaurants, that are all dog friendly. Couldn't recommend enough. A real 5 star staycation."

But it not only looks good it has everything you need and more, with so many thoughtful touches like sensor lights in the hall so you are not stumbling in the dark to a light switch. It has all the kitchen equipment you could want, a downstairs shower room so you don't trample sand all through the house - such clever ideas. All this and so close to the beach. Highly recommended."

"Never judge a book by its cover. The outside of the house looks just like a normal semi but as soon as you step inside its been decorated furnished and equipped to a very high standard. The bathrooms are high class as is the kitchen area. Location is brilliant just a short walk to the wonderful beach and dunes in camber. Would definitely stay at this house again. Even the neighbours were very friendly."
- "The property was exactly what we were looking for, and there was thoughtful attention to detail, from the multi USB ports throughout the house, to the low lights that came on as you moved around in the night to save putting on the overhead lights. The kitchen had every appliance you could think to need, the bathrooms are very luxurious with great showers and the biggest bath ever - lovely after a day walking around local sites. The lounge was perfect for five (or more) adults relaxing at the end of the day, often a house will have good dining space but then not enough chill space in the evening but it was just right for us to watch some TV and enjoy the fire. Very close to the beach, but also sheltered from the winds. Well-stocked with wood, and essentials such as salt and pepper to make the trip easier. The host was very helpful but not intrusive, we knew if we had an issue she would help. Five stars in every/any category."

Other things to note
Nearby Military Firing Range

★ "The house was all we could have hoped for. The location just a stone’s throw from the sea was stunning..."
Wake in comfort to the sound of the sea, explore the misty brooding Romney Marsh, then warm up in the many atmospheric pubs with intriguing histories, resident ghouls, roaring fireplaces, cracking ales and tasty pub grub, walk along our pebbled beach, look out across the shimmering blue sea and you’ll feel like you’ve discovered another world.
The space
★ "A hidden gem that was a brilliant place to stay if you are looking to unwind and relax! We will be back!..."
Find your next cosy bolt-hole at Coastguards Lookout, set in a splendid semi-wilderness you wouldn’t expect to discover just under two hours from London. Barely a moment’s walk to the beach, Coastguards’ Lookout is the end-unit of the three-unit Coastguard Cottages, built 1875.
With miles of often-empty beach, a towering sky overhead and wind fresh with Atlantic salt, ‘Coastguards Lookout’ is all about relaxation.
It retains all of traditional features and is enhanced with modern furnishings and finishes, such as fibre broadband, and decorated in a playful seaside style.
✩ Dining & Lounging
The open plan kitchen/dining room features a breakfast bar made from rustic, locally sourced wood, complemented by a coffee machine, induction hob, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and music player.
If you’re seeking fresh ingredients for dinner, The Cottage is only few minutes’ drive from the medieval Cinque Port town of Rye, where you will find local farm shops with Salt Marsh Lamb, fishmongers selling straight from the boats, and a wide variety of welcoming pubs and restaurants for dining out.
Step through the kitchen to the snug lounge. When the evening chill settles in, this is the perfect place to relax on cosy furnishings in front of the log-burning stove, watch TV, or read that book you keep putting off.
✩ Bed & Bath
Head upstairs to the spacious master bedroom, with its super king-size bed and expansive views over the marsh where local smugglers plied their trade. From this room, climb further to the attic room and enjoy an exceptional bath under the stars, with the sea’s waves as your soundtrack.
✩ Outdoors
Outside, the wood decked south facing rear garden is decorated with buoys and features an extraordinary fence made entirely from reclaimed sea-groynes. With another dining table and benches outside the back door, it is the ideal place to relax and enjoy a glass of wine (or two, or three) after a day of exploring.
Coastguards Lookout also benefits from access to an extended garden; a large area of grass beside the cottage that is perfect for ball games or just lazing around in the sun—and definitely a place to sip a sundowner as the sun slips away.
Guest access
Entire space is included in this rental. Please, make yourself at home.
Other things to note
Heating and hot water
Regarding the hot water, it is supplied by an immersion heater located in the understairs cupboard, which works similarly to a large electric kettle. Unlike a gas boiler, it does not provide instant heating. The system is set to ensure a constant availability of hot water; however, taking multiple baths or showers in quick succession might temporarily deplete the hot water supply.
Nearby Military Firing Range
