We were there for the week of the tennis championships. The property was ideal. An easy twenty-five minutes walk to Devonshire Park and a few minutes from bus routes into the centre of Eastbourne. The property was clean, bright, spacious and comfortable with a well-equipped kitchen and bathroom with separate bath and large shower cubicle. We were able to park right outside the front of the house. We enjoyed relaxing with a drink on the paved patio at the rear of the house which was peaceful and is overlooked by the 12th century St Mary's Church. We had good meals at the two nearby restaurants: The Spiced Garden and The Lamb Inn, both only minutes walk away from the property. - "The house is small but has all you need. Easy to find, easy access via a safe key box. Comfort and coziness are this house and a closed in garden, great for both us humans and dogs alike. The beds are super comfy, the kitchen is a great space to sit in; to chat, eat and drink. Short walk to the beach with a cafe on route. It was a steep walk back from the beach but definitely worth it. You have parking outside the house, even though it’s very quiet there (ideal!), parking spaces go quickly, so you may need to park down the road. There’s a Tesco express, only a very short walk away, and it’s open til 11pm. Overall a great stay. Would definitely book again."

Why not relax and observe the waves after spending the day exploring the town's museums, art galleries, and other antique stores? Sporting activities which are popular in the town include golf and tennis and the watersports festival Eastbourne Extreme attracts lots of visitors each year. Another popular event in the calendar is Airbourne, a fantastic international flying show. For a spot of culture check out the town's four theatres offering an eclectic choice of shows, musicals and plays throughout the year. Eastbourne offers guests a vast choice of activities whatever the weather or whatever time of year it is.

This wonderful cottage is ideally located down a private pebble driveway in Meads and within a short walking distance of Eastbourne town centre, Eastbourne beaches and Meads village.
This property is perfect for both families and couples sharing. The master bedroom is fitted with a double bed and triple wardrobe, while the second bedroom is fitted with two single beds.
The cottage provides a great base for a relaxing holiday getaway, you are perfectly placed between the beautiful south downs and the promenade of Eastbourne beaches. Most of Eastbournes top attractions are within walking distance, so after heading to Meads village for a morning cup of coffee, how your day unfolds from here is up to you...
A well small behaved adult dog may be considered on a selective basis. If accepted, a supplement applies.
The property has a newly fitted and fully equipped modern kitchen, it comes fitted with an oven, hob, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, toaster, kettle and microwave. All cooking utensils and cutlery are also provided.
In the open plan living room there are two new comfy sofas and a coffee table well positioned and pointed towards a large digital T.V and blue-ray DVD player - make sure you bring you favorites for those cosy nights in.
Outside there is a lovely courtyard style terrace shared by you and the nearby cottages. It's a peaceful setting and when the sun is shinning it provides a truly relaxing spot to read a book, have some lunch or perhaps even paint a picture.

- "Excellent property, decorated to a good standard. It is well situated for the beach and town centre. We would definitely stay at the property again." - "We were met by a very pleasant lady who ensured that everything was set up correctly and that we had all we needed. Clean, light & airy accommodation in a quiet neighbourhood. 15min walk into town, but there is a bus stop outside the drive and the buses are very regular. We didn't use the car at all as the railway station & the centre of the town are on the bus route. The Towner gallery and several restaurants are close by - about 10-15 mins walk. Parking on the street is free and plenty of spaces. There is a parking space in the drive, but is quite tight for a large car - although we managed it. We' d be happy to stay there again."

- "Property was good an well located for access to town centre and local Waitrose. The bed was just too small for us." - "Immediately felt at home. Roy and Sue the property owners gave us a warm welcome and were lovely. The bedroom as always cool which i loved. The bed was not that com.fortable however back home we have a super king premier inn hypnos bed so we have been spoilt. The double patio doors leading to the patio area was the thing i loved most as the weather was great so i sat outdoors most evenings and also during the daytime under the parasol shade. Sue has created and nurtured a beautiful outdoor living space . Archie the cat visited us most early mornings"

Town: In the Wealdon district of East Sussex lies Pevensey, a village around 5-miles north-east of Eastbourne, with the settlement of Pevensey Bay forming the part of the parish. Often escaping the notice of tourists because of all the other notable attractions, this is a historic place as it is where William the Conqueror landed when invading England in 1066 after crossing the English Channel from Normandy, France. The Pevensey Levels are marshes which cover an area of around 47-square-miles and are a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a large nature reserve. Over in Pevensey Bay you can enjoy a day at the seaside on the shingle beach, which although is small has many facilities like shops and several pubs and restaurants on the seafront. Here you can also find Pevensey Castle, a medieval castle now in the care of English Heritage and open to visitors, once occupied by Romans and then the Normans, and used as a garrison in the Second World War, it has witnessed a lot of captivating history. Pevensey is a great spot from which to reach other nearby historical towns such as Hastings and Eastbourne.

Mill Cottage is owned by a local Arboriculturist (and author) who is about to embark on wherever his camper van takes him and his dog.
As a favor to him and to help fund his travels Eastbourne Holiday Rentals are looking after his cottage whilst he is away.
The cottage is cozy, and certainly quirky like the TV being located in the kitchen (owner preferred to sit and watch the log burner) but it will provide anyone staying an escape from modern day life. (cottage does have WIFI and all kitchen essentials a self catering break) price reflects the cosy but basic cottage
Enjoy all year round Christmas at Mill Cottage with the Christmas tree and wood burner being the main focal point of the cottage.
Located in Old Town which is steeped in history, the cottage is a short walk to Motcombe village with its local pubs and church. Only a short stroll into Eastbourne town center.
A historical cottage located in Old Town, believed to be over 200 years old, having been originally built for Mill Workers, the property offers a cozy living room with wood burner, kitchen with direct access to the seclude courtyard garden, one double bedroom and a spacious bathroom with shower over bath
The cottage is nestled in a secluded location with its own entrance and a small courtyard to the front.

Region: With many quaint, seaside and market towns, historic sites and miles of glorious coastline to explore, Sussex has it all for a great holiday destination.
Town: Eastbourne is the perfect location for a seaside holiday and has been since Queen Victoria was on the throne. With its mild climate and easy access from London, this lovely coastal town has increased its appeal throughout the centuries. With 5 miles of award-winning shingle beaches to stroll along, you can enjoy the sea air even if you aren't quite ready for a swim. Eastbourne's historic pier, built in around 1866, offers entertainment all day and well into the night with its amusement arcade, cafes, shops, and nightclub, and from here you can even take a speed boat ride around the bay. After a day of visiting the museums, art galleries or numerous antiques shops in the town, why not sit and watch the waves roll by as you enjoy afternoon tea in Victorian Tea Rooms on the pier? Golfers are spoilt for choice with four golf courses close by, and tennis is also a popular sporting choice with the AEGON International women’s and men’s tournaments taking place in June prior to Wimbledon. There is even an Eastbourne Extreme weekend, with demonstrations in mountain biking, skateboarding, sailing, windsurfing and many other sports, so if you are energetic and willing, get down there and join the fun! For those who prefer to be entertained, take your seats in one of the four major theatres that Eastbourne is home to, offering all types of entertainment from traditional seaside shows and musicals to classical ballets and opera. If you are lucky enough to be here in August, bring a picnic and be prepared for Airbourne, an international flying event which passes over the sea. If you fancy a day away from the beach, there are many other places to visit in Eastbourne, including Treasure Island for warm, sunny days or the Drusillas Park Zoo. So, if you are looking for a holiday spot with something for everyone, look no further than Eastbourne.

Other things to note
Welcome to my very first Airbnb. I am super excited and hope you love my cottage and its rustic charm as much as I do. My friends and guests all love the cozy and warm vibe and I am keen to maintain the quaint feel.
I have recently begun a careful refurb, with every effort being invested to maintain the rustic charm of this historic cottage.
To date I have refurbished the kitchen, integrating the oven & the hob and refitted the shower room with a new wider shower and redesigned the second bedroom.
The second bedroom is hands down my favourite room... Together with a local carpenter, I have transformed a small useless room in to a warm snug bedroom with a built in cabin style single bed which doubles as a cozy dressing room. I hope I have made Tom Thumb proud
Please bear in mind that the living room and main bedroom have been kept in their original condition much to the delight of our guests that choose our cottage for its charm.
If you are not in love with 'rustic charm' and are looking for a shiny glitzy place, perhaps you should look elsewhere. Just saying!

The idyllic village of East Dean is the gateway to The South Downs National Park, adjacent to Beachy Head, Birling Gap and the Seven Sisters and only about 5 minutes in a car from Eastbourne. It is a fantastic location for walkers, cyclists and holidaymakers seeking a relaxed location set in beautiful countryside.
The nearest beach is at Birling Gap, just one mile away, while Eastbourne town centre is just a couple of miles drive. Or if you feel like something more exotic, there’s also a Thai restaurant on the green.
East Dean has a small selection of independent village shops, including a post office, hairdressers and grocers, as well as a doctor’s surgery.

Eastbourne and Seaford are 3 miles East and West respectively with general amenities and children’s attractions, and the historic County town of Lewes is 20 minutes North.
Visitors (and dogs) with a love of the outdoors will adore the 3.5-mile walk across the South Downs towards Beachy Head, an iconic South Coast landmark, via Birling Gap. Enjoy the glorious view from this, the second highest point on the south coast. Alternatively, a 4.5-mile walk south-west will take you towards the beach at Cuckmere Haven, sitting at the mouth of the River Cuckmere under the cliffs of the famous Seven Sisters. Cuckmere Haven is within the National Trust’s Cuckmere Valley and here you can explore the diverse wildlife of the area. Or just up the hill is Friston Pond which features in the Domesday Book, then cross the road and explore Friston Forest. For those wanting less walking, these locations are accessible via road and there is lots to do in the wider area. The village itself dates back 1,000 years to Saxon times: the local church has a Saxon tower with later Norman features added after the 1066 conquest. The Sussex coastline has a long history of smuggling and the house behind the village pub was built by a famous smuggler of the 1800s, James Dippery. More on smuggling history and local sleuths (!) in the visitor handbook.
The cottage is traditional throughout, decorated with classic British themes in floral and pastel shades. In the calming lounge, enjoy the sunlight overlooking part of the private garden: an ideal space to sit and read or have a snooze. Or settle in the family/dining space, featuring large ship’s timber beams distinctive of period cottages of this era. Here, you can, relax or watch TV. Leading to the lovely garden is a sunroom accessed via cottage-style stairs on the first floor or from the garden itself. The kitchen is well-equipped for those wanting to cook. The large, multi-level garden is fully enclosed and is made up of several terraces and surrounded by foliage and flowers. The lower lawned area of the garden is easily accessed from the house and the different terraces (exciting for children to explore) are connected by quite steep stone steps.
Outside you’ll find a table and chairs for dining alfresco, plus a couple of benches on which to relax and take in the garden air or do some bird-spotting: look out for the heron and the European Woodpecker. This beautiful period cottage overlooking the village green is a real picture-postcard scene (featured on actual postcards!) and a great place to relax or as a jumping off point for the area.
