This property is located on Sunset Lake in Alton New Hampshire. Sunset Lake is considered to be one of the cleanest most pristine lakes in the region. Imagine waking up in the morning and walking out on the screened in porch having your cup of coffee in the morning 75 feet from the water. Life doesn't get any better!

This cottage offers two bedrooms. One has a double size bed. The other bedroom sleeps four with 2 sets of bunk beds. There is an inside half bathroom. The shower facility is outdoors and is enclosed, part of the rustic charm.

This is a great place for a calm, relaxing get away. There is not the constant boating activity you get at Lake Winnipesaukee, so this is a place where you can get peace and quiet to relax. On a typical summer day the water is generally flat calm in the morning and the evening. There is a fire pit right on the beach to enjoy the view, the ambiance and the starlit sky's. Sunset Lake also offers excellent fishing with a good variety of bass, pickerel, perch and bluegill which you can enjoy on the private dock.

For those familiar with the area this location is unique and considered a gem. It is accessible through an unpaved road, so if you are looking for place to get away from all the activity this is an ideal place. Plus it has everything you need so that you do not need to make continuous trips to town. It is ideal for arriving, unpacking and just enjoying nature for the balance of your visit.

Perfect size for a family with 2-4 kids or 1 or 2 couples. Maximum number of people sleeping at the cottage is 6.

From seniors to little kids this a great spot for all ages. Being lakeside on Winnipesaukee you will love relaxing by the lake and looking out at the view. You will enjoy swimming in the crystal clear water with a beautiful sandy bottom.

We provide 3 kayaks and 2 paddle boards for your use and the dock is available if you have a boat. (We can suggest boat rentals)

Built by my grandfather in 1927 we’ve modernized it over the years to be very comfortable and have the amenities we all require. Everyone who has ever visited comments on how country cozy and beautiful the cottage is and how unbelievable the view is!

Both the outdoor fireplace and the fire pit at the waters edge are available for your use in the evenings. Often you can hear the the call of the loons on the lake. It is so peaceful.

There is a hammock for a nap by day and to gaze at the stars by night.

The are 2 rocking chairs and several adirondack chairs to relax in on the dock or shore while looking out at the lake, islands and the Ossipee Mountain Range.

Winnipesaukee is the perfect lake for boating. You can go to Wolfeboro for the biggest best ice cream cone ever, Alton Bay for a yummy lunch at Pops Clam Shack, visit the Weirs for arcades and more, and our favorite restaurant in Meredith for lunch is Town Docks where you can eat outside on a glorious day! All of these places and more are available by car as well.

There are lots of great restaurants… it’s just a 10 minute car ride to one of our favorites, Ellacoya, where they have daily specials and the food is always delicious.

If you like to cook at home it’s less than 15 minutes to Beans and Greens for fresh veggies. They even have fresh baked pie. (Blueberry is our favorite) Shaw’s and Hannaford are the closest grocery stores just a few minutes from Beans and Greens.

A favorite of many is to swim from our cottage to the “Point” (Smith’s Point) along the shoreline in the morning. Or go out for an early morning kayak to catch the sunrise.

Great outlet shopping is about 30 minutes away in Tilton. Terrific shopping for souvenirs and boutique clothes are in Gilford, Meredith, Wolfeboro and Laconia. Funspot is not far for arcades and bowling and there are several mini golf locations close by. There is a 3-ring binder at the cottage with info on area attractions, restaurants and more.

PLEASE NOTE: The cottage is not waterfront. It is located on the same property as our main house, which is on the water and has docks and a boathouse. Guests do NOT have access to these docks or waterfront. Water access is via either the association beach mentioned above, the public beach in Alton Bay, or any one of the area public boat launch ramps.

We provide our guests with a small starter pack of essentials upon arrival. Depending on your length of stay, you may need to get additional provisions at some point. Complementary grill gas is provided.

This is a 3-season cottage. It does not have central heating. Therefore, as may be occasionally necessary in the "shoulder season" (mid-May, or late September/early October), we provide space heaters.

The number of overnight guests per reservation must match or the reservation may be canceled without a refund.

The lake is beautiful, with many small islands; most other visitors are weekenders, so on the weekdays we felt like we had it mostly to ourselves. 2 bedroom cottage with a large family room on beautiful Halfmoon Lake (5 miles south of the Alton traffic circle, 10 minutes to Lake Winnepsauke and lots of Lakes Region activities.) It is a short walk on our private property from the cottage to the beautiful white sand beach. The crystal clear water is inviting, and the water depth increases very slowly, perfect for young children. In season there is usually a large raft in deeper water of swimming area for jumping and diving. Free use of kayaks, canoe, rowboat and paddle boat. Guests may bring their own boat. Great fishing. Main room has Smart TV for watching your streaming accounts. WiFi for entire cottage. Fully stocked modern kitchen includes a microwave, toaster oven, Keurig coffeemaker. The cottage has it's own outdoor picnic area with a propane grill, picnic table, Adirondack chairs and hammock. There is also a community picnic area, and a dock. The cottage sleeps 6, sorry no pets. - "Very clean and cute. The cabin was built in an era where people expected a bit of "roughing it" when they were out the lake. The septic is not set up for long, hot showers or half a dozen people flushing all day long. Also, you are expected to clean up after yourself. If you can live with that, the beach is lovely and the other residents are mostly very friendly. (I did have one person explain to me that I was at "her" table, which was for cabins not rented out, while literally every single other table on the beach was empty.) The kayaks are perfect for the kids to play on and the sand is suitable for building. The stove and oven are full-sized and there are plenty of dishes. You can make regular coffee or K cup. We definitely hope to go again in the spring."

This is a lakefront cottage that sleeps 8 comfortably. Lakefront with your own personal dock, and a large deck with plenty of patio furniture as well as a charcoal grill with utensils. Fullsize kitchen with all small appliances and kitchenware. Enjoy this large space while overlooking beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee and a gorgeous mountain view. The cottage has 1.5 bathrooms, 1 large master bedroom with a queen-size bed and another bedroom with 1 full-size bed and twin bunk beds. There is also a sleeper sofa. Will sleep 8 guests comfortably. You must provide your own linens and towels.

- "I can’t say enough great things about this place. It’s right on the water with just a few stairs to the private dock. Deep enough to dive off but also has a ladder to get into the water off the dock. We spent a lot of time floating in our own little piece of the lake! We rented a boat at lakesiderentals.com and highly recommend them as well. It was only ½ mile down the road. Cabin has a huge deck and the owner was in the cabin next door and absolutely wonderful. Always bringing us more wood for the fires and extra chairs when he saw we had folks visiting. Brought my dog treats (my dog actually tried to go to his door every time we walked him!) and even helped secure our kayaks when he saw us struggling! We had an issue with the shower and he got it fixed right away and even stayed at the cabin with the plumber so we didn’t need to hang around! We were greeted with a basket of all the makings for s’mores and some homemade jam and waters! We literally walked onto the deck area and were just taken aback by the beautiful view we had from the deck. Loved drinking my coffee in the morning and having a cocktail during the day just enjoying the view! The bay is fantastic for tubing and boating as it’s much less crowded than the rest of the lake but almost its own little lake within the big lake! Place comes with everything you need to grill/cook. The grill is very large and there was a big bag of charcoal waiting. Never rented before and were super happy. Will go again!!"
