Perfect location just outside town on a private drive, pond with fire pit and views. Just a short 10 min drive to Shaws for groceries and downtown Stowe for fun. Transport to our quintessential Vermont home tucked on the hillside of a quiet dirt road . Enjoy easy drives to neighboring towns like Stowe, Waterbury, and Waitsfield allowing you to be minutes away from your outdoor adventure or meal. Our 1800's cottage was fully renovated to fit the needs of modern comfort while maintaining its vintage charm. The open floor plan on the first floor offers an abundance of light and brings the tranquility of the outdoors in. Enter through the side of the home into a sitting area with a TV. Ditch your boots and coats and head into the living space which opens into the kitchen and dining room, making conversation easy regardless of the room you're in. A centrally placed gas stove spreads warmth and cozy vibes for all to enjoy. The first floor bathroom boasts an open air shower with views of the pines or unwind in the claw foot tub.
The stairs to the second floor are steeper (and maybe a little creakier) than usual and take you to the landing which all bedrooms are accessed from. The rustic floorboards lead you to either a Queen room (x2) or the Master with a King bed and walk in closet. There is a brand new full bath upstairs.
The backyard offers a stone patio to enjoy summer meals under the stars There is a 'stream' that runs through the property adding peaceful background noise in addition to the other sounds of nature you'll find here. The home backs up to 100's of acres of protected land further supporting the 'remote' feel of the cottage.
We recommend AWD or 4WD in snow/mud months.
- "Perfect size for the 6 of us. Peaceful location with beautiful surroundings. Close to town, yet away from it all. We’ll appointed and very nicely updated." - "This is a lovely house for a family get-away. We skied at Sugarbush, and the drive was easy, and close enough. There were six of us, all above the age of 18, and plenty of comfortable space. The beds were very comfortable. The downstairs was spread out nicely, so we could all enjoy each other's company at the big dining table, as well as, break off into cozy nooks to watch tv, read, or work on a puzzle. Internet worked well for the two who had to work remotely. The whole house had a bright and airy atmosphere. We appreciated the the host would quickly answer any questions via email. Thanks for a great stay!"

- "We had a fantastic stay at Kimberley and Kevin’s extremely comfortable and such welcome hosts- surrounded by a lovely garden in a characterful converted barn Easy drive to Montpelier We just loved it! Thank you Best wishes Tim and Clare" - "This cottage was perfect for my wife and I as we were looking for a centrally located base in Vermont for a family destination wedding in the area as well as for side trips to the Von Trapp complex and the Ben and Jerry's factory. There's a very efficient air conditioner in the main room, but the breezes blowing through the suite were perfect for sleeping most nights. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen was quite functional, especially an awesome countertop convection over. I also learned how to use a French press coffee maker! We would gladly return if in the area again! Thank you"

- "This cottage has it all! We had a baby with us and were worried some essentials would be missing. How wrong were we. Everything was there. Fully furnished kitchen (like really fully furnished!), bedrooms on each floor, ideal for privacy. Very quiet space, still pretty close to the village ~10 minutes by car. Could not ask for better. Everything was quite easy, from the check in to the check out. The only thing is that there is little to no phone service, but the internet connection is good and makes up for it. Would stay there again in a heartbeat. Thanks!"

- "If you are travelling with small children, like we were, this house was exceptional. They had a pack-n-play with a mattress, a high chair, booster seat, and child's seat for the bath! The only thin missing was a baby gate, and there is a challenging staircase down to the first floor so I would recommend bringing one. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you could need. Stowe is only a few minutes away and offers a ton of restaurants to eat if you don't feel like cooking. The house had a ton of pillows, blankets and towels! Overall it was a wonderful house for our weekend ski getaway! FYI there is no cell phone service (which wasn't a problem for me), but your phone will only operate on WiFi only, so if you need to be reachable 24hrs a day this house isn't for you"

Keep it simple at this peaceful and centrally-located place near Hubbard Park with a short walk to the Capitol and downtown Montpelier. Your home-away-from-home for all seasons and the perfect place to rest and relax after a day on the slopes, hiking in the mountains, and visiting Vermont's many nearby sugar shacks, breweries, wineries, markets and cultural venues. You will love this cozy and stylish home and enjoy cooking in the fully-equipped kitchen or eating at the many local restaurants.
We are continuously crafting what we hope is the perfect getaway for you and your family! Settle into this cozy home-away-from home on top of the hill next to historic Hubbard Park within walking distance to downtown Montpelier, the shops, restaurants and Farmers Market and the State House. Stay home and relax by the beautiful Hearthstone wood stove (in winter), or the fire-pit surrounded by lush foliage in spring and summer — and dramatic auburn hues in fall — but be careful because this place has a way of making you want to stay longer!!
This 1960s Cape-style home with hardwood floors, original artwork, views in all directions (of dense woodlands, distant mountains and picturesque Montpelier) is the perfect setting for a comfortable respite complete with modern furnishings, super comfortable beds -- with 100% cotton linens -- and 30-minutes to Stowe, Sugarbush, Mad River Glen and Burlington, will give you a warm and welcoming Vermont experience!
We are NOT your cookie-cutter, prefab house. Our house has deep roots and heart. In fact, we have taken great pains to create a space that is simple, clean, and uncluttered — a space in which to relax while you work on that novel, make gourmet food and enjoy meals with family and friends — and a homebase while you explore the city and all the area has to offer.
We provide comfortable memory foam beds and high-speed Internet to handle all of your online requirements. Our fully-equipped kitchen (with plenty of pots and pans for cooking and baking) is perfect for quick meals or gourmet dinners (a convection oven with four-burner glass stovetop; a drip coffee maker; French press; blender; and toaster oven). Adjacent to the kitchen, in its own dedicated ‘laundry’ niche, is the (high-efficiency) stackable washer/dryer — which makes doing laundry a breeze!
Closets are available for you to manage your wardrobe and stow your luggage throughout your stay. An iron and ironing board are available as well. Washer and dryer are available for your use and located in the basement.
The large living room includes a workspace with a desk, desk chair and lamp. We provide free Internet. This space also includes a vintage Pilates reformer for workouts.
In summer, enjoy fresh herbs and vegetables direct from the garden! A fully-equipped kitchen awaits — whether it’s to prepare lunch for an outing or a gourmet meal for family and friends, Vermont is all about ‘farm to table’ freshness — and Montpelier is a ‘foodie’ paradise!
Housekeeping takes inventory photos to document the condition of the house for liability purposes. Any and all damage or missing items are reported. Housekeeping observes Covid guidelines and follows standard cleaning protocols including The five-step cleaning process:
1. Prepare your equipment and ventilate the space before cleaning
2. Clean each area by removing dust and debris
3. Sanitize all high-touch surfaces, appliances, and electronics
4. Check that the space has been thoroughly cleaned and sanitized
5. Reset the room for the next guest and restock your supplies
PET RULES
- Prior approval is required. We allow up to 1 pet for an additional fee of $200/stay (for the first pet), and $100/stay for a total of 2 pets.
- Must be fully house-trained, and vaccinated prior to arrival
- Must be completely cleaned up after
- Leashed at all times when not on property. Refer to Sec. 4-32. Leash law and presumptions.
- Crated indoors when not home w/ pet
- If barking becomes an issue for our immediate neighbors, alternative arrangements must be made
- Not allowed on the furniture or bedding. We try our hardest to please our guests and to earn superior ratings and reviews — and we do the same for guests who earn our praise for caring for our house and property. The house sits atop a forested hill on a spacious corner lot surrounded by mature ash, oak, birch and maple trees in an accessible and pedestrian-friendly neighborhood — adjacent to historic Hubbard Park, downtown Montpelier and just a short commute to the Amtrak station. So, while we’re relatively close to downtown (less than a mile to the city center), we’re also near heavily-forested Hubbard Park — so it is not at all uncommon to see a variety of wildlife (deer, chipmunk, crows, skunk, fox, the occasional black bear and woodchuck). In fact, a family of woodchucks live in a den on the west side of the property. When startled, they emit a shrill, high-pitched whistle sound. And while harmless, they can be a nuisance when they help themselves to our garden! We do not allow guests to receive mail at the house address. We recommend guests get a post box at the USPS, the UPS Store or Fedex Store.
- "Peaceful retreat, perfect for a couple. It only has one bathroom so it might be tough to stay with more than a couple of people. Owners were great about communications." - "Perfect place for a reunion with friends."

Welcome to our charming little home in the village of Waterbury - the “Crossroads of Recreation” and one of the best walkable towns in Vermont, offering excellent restaurants, bars, and shops; hiking and biking; and easy access to I-89, Burlington and Montpelier, and nearby Stowe, Bolton Valley, Sugarbush, and Mad River Glen mountain resorts. The Village Rose is a whole house with a private yard that is only a few short blocks from Waterbury’s vibrant downtown.
The space
Our small (approx. 800 sq. ft.) one-bedroom, one-bathroom half-Cape offers a recently remodeled kitchen with granite countertops and modern appliances, bamboo and cork floors, a washer and dryer, and basic amenities to provide comfort and convenience. The first floor is an open floor plan with a vaulted ceiling and skylight, and the comfortable queen-size bed and a reading/work space are in the loft above, up a steep set of stairs. The entryway’s mud room provides a place to store your outdoor gear, and the driveway out front offers parking for several vehicles.
This was our first home but we now live off-site and have recently provided updates and fresh furnishings for guests. Tucked away in our sweet little neighborhood, you’ll have the whole place to yourself for a fun weekend getaway or extended stay. Enjoy the private sunny yard on the brick patio, surrounded by perennials along the fence and with hummingbirds buzzing through. During winter storms, bring your cross-country skis and you can loop around the village starting from the front yard. And with Waterbury’s central location and I-89 just minutes away, it is easy to use our home to access other parts of the State.
We hope you enjoy our home as much as we have, and invite you to enjoy its character and location.

Tucked in the forest near the end of a dead end dirt road this cabin sits on a ridge with awesome views and sounds of a creek below. Fully renovated interior in 2021 yet keeping its rustic charm. Peaceful and quiet nestled against Camels Hump State Park, but still the luxury of high speed internet. Master bedroom has large picture window towards the forest with the creek below. Enjoy morning coffee on the porch with its beautiful south eastern exposure. Minutes from Waterbury and Waitsfield
The space
This cabin has only been used for the occasional weekend over the last 15 years and had fallen into major degradation. We moved into it in the early winter of 2021 and performed a complete renovation of the interior. The large new deck (2025) offers plenty of seating for relaxation and meals while enjoying its stunning views and beautiful forest setting against the Camel's Hump State Park. Located towards the end of a dirt road one can hear the relaxing sounds of the creek below the property. One can access hiking trails right from the house or drive a short distance into Waterbury, Stowe, or the Mad River Valley. A large picture window in the master bedroom offers views of uninterrupted forest down to the creek. The views from the living room are big and southeast facing with excellent morning sun. The loft offers an additional space for kids or the extra couple that may be joining. One has the option of the loft bedroom to have the beds as two singles or brought together to make one king. The porch, with table and chairs, is a great place to enjoy a morning cup of coffee or dinner on a warm evening. Amazing east views for the morning sun! Live edge locally harvested wood countertops are featured in this freshly remodeled and bright kitchen that opens into the living room. This is a great getaway in one of the best parts of Vermont. The propane fireplace is controlled by a thermostat, or can easily be turned on to enjoy a cozy ambiance. There is also a firepit outside to enjoy campfires. Unfortunately we no longer allow pets.

This cabin is nestled up right by Camel's Hump State forest. It's at the end of a dirt road up on a hill. The last climb is steep. In mudseason, you may have to just drive a little slower. In winter it is generally very well plowed and sanded. In the event that the plow hasn't yet plowed and sanded during snow storms or icy conditions, 4 wheel drive, all wheel drive or chains may be needed. At least good studded winter tires, if none of the above. This is Vermont and we are full of back dirt roads and are accustomed to the mountain life and all that that entails! We love to enjoy it as well, so snow storms are always a celebration here! After all, we have more miles of snowmobile trails in Vermont than paved roads and we are nestled between multiple ski mountains!

This adorable cottage is tucked quietly under Mt. Mansfield with direct access to state land for backcountry hiking, skiing & exploring. It is located 10 minutes to Smugglers Notch Resort, 30 minutes to Stowe in the summer (55 in winter), and 45 minutes to Burlington. My home is a 200 year old barn reassembled with tons of Vermont charm including slate floors, barn board counters, and a brick fireplace w/insert. If you're looking for a cozy place to unwind, this is your ideal vacation home.
The space
My home was a 200 year old barn originally located on a farm in central Vermont. My stonemason father purchased the barn from a farmer for $200 and moved it to Pleasant Valley in Underhill and added his magic touch. He reassembled the barn adding slate floors, brick kitchen, a beautiful antique brick fireplace and tons of original barn board. Forty years later I added the modern touches to accentuate my dad's craftsmanship. I turned the barn board walls into custom counter tops for the expanded kitchen & added 29 windows to bring the gorgeous Vermont countryside in. The end result is a magical rustic chic cottage filled with antiques and charm.
Guest access
The entire home is yours! The house is located at the end of a long private driveway off a country back road. There is 10 acres with the house and it is located next to 100's of acres of State land leading up to Mt. Mansfield. One room upstairs is used as storage for the owner's personal belongings and is therefore not usable.
Other things to note
As mentioned, please bring your warm slippers to wear on the cool slate floors. Note that anyone staying in this home should be fine with unusually steep stairs with no railing to access the bedroom. An AWD vehicle is highly recommended in the winter months because weather and road conditions under the mountain can be wonderful!
