Near the quiet southern shore of the sublimely beautiful Upper Saranac Lake lies this enchanting and peaceful retreat for those who appreciate charm and serenity.
This unique property typically rents Saturday to Saturday, during the Summer months of July 1 to Labor Day. Other calendar dates are flexible with a 2-3 night minimum. Maximum occupancy is strictly limited to 4 adults, double occupancy in King and Queen bedrooms (+ 1 child or petite adult in Twin bedroom) during the Summer months)

This cozy historic home (known as the East wing of the Swenson Estate) was built for the 1932 Olympics and offers 3 bedrooms/3 baths. It is approximately 1850 sq feet on 5 park like acres. The fully equipped unique kitchen has been described by many as award worthy with remarkable attention to detail. "Fairytale like" it has been commonly described as and it has repeatedly been said, "The pictures do it no justice"

All linens are provided as a courtesy, but please DO bring your personal BEACH towels for Summer stays. There are 2 smart TV's for streaming and DVD/VCR, with a plentiful library to choose from, as well as a Bose bluetooth smart speaker with voice control.

During the SUMMER/FALL months there is a small deck with 4 chaise lounges for sunning, a fire pit for camp fires, a small frog pond, and an expansive lawn. The lovely deeded, semi-private shared beach (Upper Saranac Lake) is a 5 -7 minute park-like stroll from the home through a quiet, sparsely populated neighborhood. As a back lot location, it offers a "safety buffer zone" with certain peace of mind for those with younger Children or Grandchildren. With a grass lawn, the beach is clean and sandy with a gentle, gradual drop-off. Again, very safe for young children. There is one green Old Towne Canoe and 2 red Kayaks parked near the beach for your use and enjoyment. No motor boats are permitted. Please note: If you choose to bring your personal kayak, paddle board, etc, and leave them at the cove, it is impossible for me to guarantee their security; mine are not high end and I have never experienced any issue over the years...

During the WINTER, Titus and Whiteface Mountains for downhill skiing are about a 45 minute drive. There's a toboggan run and ice skating in Lake Placid and tubing at Mount Pisgah and Titus Mountain. And plenty of cross country skiing options.

The wilderness area directly across our drive, offers you hiking, biking on endless trails and canoe access to the Stoney Creek Ponds and the Racquette River. The popular Ampersand Trail is just minutes up the road, as well as one of our favorites, the Deer Pond trail, a gentle hike for children. Golfers will enjoy the Saranac Inn Golf Club, ten minutes up the road founded at the turn of the century and designed by Scottish pro and architect, Seymour Dunn; this 18 hole course was designed using the natural terrain to provide a great golfing experience with lovely mountain views. Adventurers can traverse 30 miles of waterways that connect the lakes Oseetah, Kiwassa, Lower and Middle Saranac Lakes. Travel through the lock system which raises and lowers your watercraft to the level of the connecting lake. Take note- there is no lock access to the Upper Saranac Lake thereby granting you an extremely quieter lake experience especially at the southern end....it is pristine. At the Paul Smiths Visitors Center, you can explore gentle hiking trails and learn about the Adirondack region. And be sure to check out the whole wild world of the Adirondacks in Tupper Lake at our Natural History Museum of the Adirondacks. (better known as "The Wild Center") During the summer, on Sunday, you can ride your bikes or walk to the Chapel bound boat which takes you to non-denominational services at Chapel Island, a short ride away.

Secluded, yet very convenient to all amenities...23 minutes to our Olympic village of Lake Placid, 11 minutes to Saranac Lake, 8 minutes to Tupper Lake, 2.5 hours to Montreal. Our regional Adirondack Airport (SLK) is a 25 minute drive up Rte 30.

There was something for everyone in our family, aged 5- adult. Our host put so much thought and attention to detail into our stay. We were welcomed and felt at home and so cozy. This home truly is healing and is a peaceful sanctuary! We can’t wait to come back and stay again!!"

Charming 2 bedroom cottage. Master bedroom looks directly onto the lake with 10 windows. Second bedroom is a loft over the living room. Both rooms feature queen beds and linens; second room has a pullout twin. Sleeps 5.

Living room has a flat screen television (with netflix) and cathedral ceilings. Modern kitchen features an electric range, stainless steel frig, dish washer, table seating for 5 and a small wood stove. One bathroom with shower connects off the kitchen.

French doors in the kitchen lead out onto a spacious L-shaped screened porch. Perfect for summer evening dinners or even camp outs. Porch steps lead down onto a lake-side deck with a fire pit and a new gas grill.

The deck leads out to the dock where you will find first class swimming, boating, fishing and breathtaking views.

The entire cottage is 1200 square feet and sits on a private wooded 1.4 acre lot. The driveway to the lake is steep but paved. An adjoining shed features water toys for guest use. Onsite canoe, double kayak and two single kayaks are available at guest's risk.

This is an ideal family vacation spot. Also great for 2 couples or a special getaway.

- "Perfect spot for a relaxing vacation! The cottage offers quiet relaxation right on the water’s edge. Everything is as pictured, very clean, full of all you will need for your stay. Loons, ducks, even a hummingbird will visit you on the dockside chairs. The covered porch is comfortable, and thankfully screened in, we had all of our meals outside. Owner is excellent, she called and followed up with a text when we had a need. Kayaks and canoe available, swimming, as well. Located at the southern end of the lake, no boat traffic or noise."

I'm sitting here at Day break at table, peaceful, quite , looking into rivers mirrored reflection as my Otter slips by rippling the waters, coffee in hand, the mist rolling by, a few geese go by in a train, dad pushing little ones up to mom, fish rolling for breakfast, the the sun peaks up, light dancing off the waters, and mist rolling away to the perfect mirrors of double imagery,
Geese crawling up the rocks to assault their morning feast,turkeys slipping in yard from across the river, deer swimming across to hit the fields be hind, God did not make this any Better...

Cottage is about 1/2 mile off road on Wild Scenic River.
This is a Cottage was built in the 50 ties, powers been added , has rustic facilities, inside is toilet, shower, sinks, out side has out house, comfortable year round Cottage for the four season buffs, on 86 acres of land, in a private corner.
Real hard wood paneling cut from the Big mill. Before it burned, fishermans, hunters, skiers, snowmobilers, hikers delight, if your a TV buff it's not here...
You have Verizon and AT&T service wireless and Their is WIFI and land line 100 feet from cottage.

- "Had a great time. the only down side was i had to go home." - "The cabin is small and rustic but very clean and quaint. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed and the bathroom was a nice size. The bedrooms were a nice size and the master had an amazing view of river/trees and a wonderful breeze through the open windows. The front porch was great for playing games/cards and overlooked the river--a great place to hang out on cool/buggy nights. There is a picnic table and fire pit and a large grassy area great for yard games. The two rescue horses were a delight to feed and pet. Overall, it was a great stay and we were very pleased. The owners were super friendly--would stay here again!"

- "Come to find out, that the Owners had closed their Vrbo account a few years prior. I showed up with the confirmation on Vrbo. The Owners were VERY GRACIOUS and accommodating. They immediately came down and cleaned and refreshed a camp that was not finished for me to stay in. They gave me a few handmade souvenirs and had me come over to their Farm for a Farm-Fresh homemade Breakfast. Such a great family and people to have. Our lakeside cottage has great lake and mountain views. It is close to the public beach, family-friendly activities, restaurants and dining. You’ll love our place because of the coziness, the views, and the location. It has its own sandy beach. Our place is good for couples, solo adventurers, families (with kids). The rate is for 4 guests, however we can accommodate 5, at an additional charge of $50.

Stone's Throw is a newly rebuilt Adirondack cottage just 18 steps from the water of 10 mile Tupper Lake. You have use of a private dock for your kayak, and some of the world's best swimming. Experience the sound of loons in the wilderness, or drive a short distance to town and The Wild Center.
Amenities include a romantic, outdoor shower for two (this is the only shower) and all new wifi equipment. Most of our guests have repeated annually.

This is an ideal setting to unwind. With amazing views of Simon Pond (aka Lake Simond) and the surrounding Adirondack mountains, this boat-access property includes 4.8 acres, 2 cabins, and over 600 feet of lakefront (including a sandy beach that is perfect for wading). You can easily access Big Tupper Lake and Raquette River by boat from the property. The main house has one bedroom, bathroom, living room, dining room, and kitchen. The Guest house includes 2 bedrooms and a "bunk room."

The space
Please note that this is a boat-access-only property. A small outboard motorboat is included with your rental, along with three kayaks, two paddle boards, and one pedal boat for recreational use. All watercraft are used at your own risk, and a signed waiver is required when you book.

As of 2025, New York State law requires all individuals operating a motorized vessel to complete a NYS-approved safe boating course and carry a valid boating safety certificate, regardless of age. At least one person in your group must provide proof of certification prior to arrival. Many online courses meet the NYS requirements and can be completed in advance.

⚠️ Beyond taking the course, it is essential that someone in your group is genuinely comfortable operating a small boat with an outboard motor.

Mobility & Property Layout

The property has uneven terrain, natural surfaces (like rocks, gravel paths, and unpaved walkways), and stairs connecting various buildings and the waterfront. While all are welcome, please note that a reasonable level of physical agility and mobility is required to navigate the grounds safely—especially when boarding or unloading the boat, walking between buildings, or accessing the dock and watercraft.

If you or someone in your group has mobility concerns, we encourage you to reach out before booking so we can help assess whether the property is a good fit.

• Main Cottage: 1 bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living room, and dining area.
• Guest Cottage: 2 bedrooms and a separate bunk room. The bunk room has its own entrance and cannot be accessed internally from the other bedrooms.
• Bathroom Access: The guest cottage does not have a bathroom, but there is an outhouse located behind it.

Guest access
Guests have access to our entire property (5 acres) and cottages. We have neighbors on the island (though not close). We ask that people keep their dogs off of our neighbor's properties.

Other things to note
Please note that you can only reach our house by boat. The house is on a small island on Simon Pond (aka Lake Simond). Guests park their car at our marina and travel by boat to get to the house (see the small blue boat in the listing photos). The boat trip takes about 10-15 minutes.

This is a boat-access-only property. A small outboard motorboat is included with your rental, but please note the following:

As of 2025, all individuals operating a motorized vessel in New York State are required by law to complete a NYS-approved safe boating course and carry a boating safety certificate, regardless of age.

The Songbird Cottage sits on 1.5 acres of wooded land. This includes space to park your boat or winter recreational vehicles in addition to the ample parking spaces in the driveway.
While staying at the cottage, you will have full access to the entire home and woods surrounding.

This unique property typically rents Saturday to Saturday, during the Summer months of July 1 to Labor Day. Other calendar dates are flexible with a 2-3 night minimum. This cozy historic home (known as the East wing of the Swenson Estate) was built for the 1932 Olympics and offers 3 bedrooms/3 baths. It is approximately 1850 sq feet on 5 park like acres. The fully equipped unique kitchen has been described by many as award worthy with remarkable attention to detail. Commonly described as "Fairytale like" and repeatedly said, "The pictures do it no justice".

There is a fire pit for campfires, a sunning deck, a screened in porch for dining and games, and an expansive lawn. The lovely deeded, semi-private shared beach (Upper Saranac Lake) is a 5 -7 minute park-like stroll from the home through a quiet, sparsely populated neighborhood.

As a back lot location, it offers a "safety buffer zone" with certain peace of mind for those with younger Children or Grandchildren. With a grass lawn, the beach is clean and sandy with a gentle, gradual drop-off. Again, very safe for young children.

There is one Old Towne Canoe and 2 Kayaks parked at the shoreline for your use and enjoyment. No motor boats are permitted.

The neighborhood MAP will be provide to you and will guide you to a lovely little sandy beach with a grassy lawn. Please note that this property is NOT lakefront or view, but a 5-7 minute park-like walk from the home, again, ensuring those with younger children or grandchildren a certain peace of mind "safety buffer zone".
I would like to mention that the over the past 12 years I was living in Colorado, so had to rely on hired Housekeepers/Caretakers who did not always do a good job sadly, giving me subpar reviews here. I am here now since 2019~ managing the property myself with the eye of an eagle and take great pride in providing you an overall stellar experience. I am also listed on the 'other' big V rental website under listing #402594 and there with a 5 out of 5 rating, you may read MANY wonderful reviews...the one very nasty complaint I received here ~ Consider this, the morning after their departure, I discovered they had actually dumped 3-4 STILL. smoldering fire logs outside the fire pit at the end of their eve, to give you an idea of why I decided to charge them for the chair they also broke. Very disrespectful and indeed dangerous as well.

Other things to note
Upon your confirmed reservation, please be sure to review my (very detailed!) House Manual here to help you plan and guide you during your stay. The many details are intended to encourage your sense of confidence and independence... There is also a copy at the home atop kitchen wood stove.
IF you are bringing your PET, please review the following Pet conditions before confirming your reservation:
A weekly Pet fee of $140 (or $20/per day/per pet) is charged when properly reserved.
For the privilege of bringing your Pet, I ask you to follow these conditions:
• Please do bring their crate IF they have one, and personal bed.
• They are absolutely NOT allowed on the beds.
• If their usual habit is to lounge on your homes furniture, please bring appropriate sized personal blankets or sheets to cover mine.
• Rawhide chewys must be enjoyed outside or on their blanket instead of on the homes rugs, please.
• They must not be left alone at the home, nor on the screened porch during your excursions unless in their crate to avoid damaged screens. They were all just replaced and I DREAD repairing those.
• They must be free of fleas/ticks.
• There is no fence on the property, so they must be in control at all times
and not allowed to run loose or disrupt the neighborhood. I hope you
understand that I must keep the neighbors’ peace.
• They should be guided to the forested perimeter for their business to
preserve the lawn, also keeping the shared driveway clear and their solid waste gathered and disposed in GARAGE TRASH. There are some poop scoop baggies inside the Fish bucket atop the brown wood cabinet on the screen porch for your convenience.
• There is also a large and small food and water bowl set in the kitchen for their use, if you wish.

Just Imagine... you're seated on a comfortable rocking chair, coffee in hand, gazing across a secluded, island dotted, remote Adirondack lake. From your dock, you see the dawn break. The sun peeks through the morning mist and you hear the cry of a lonely Loon break the morning silence. A family of ducks swim by and, in unison, swerve towards your rocker, hoping you'll share a bit of your toast with them.

Just Imagine...the joy-filled sounds of your children frolicking on the dock, leaping into fresh, clean water, backdropped with a mile of majestic vista unequalled anywhere in the East.

Just Imagine...dinner by candlelight on an open balcony, a cool breeze brushing against your skin, lightly browned by a daylong visit to a nearby, sandy beach. A full moon casts its endless reflection across the still silence of a friendly lake.

A quaint and comfortable 2- bedroom cabin awaits you on majestic and pristine Middle Saranac Lake, the secluded gem of the Adirondacks. All utilities are powered exclusively by propane The camp is rented from Saturday to Saturday and is available for $2765.00 per 7 night stay commencing on Saturday afternoon on or after 3:00 pm. A $125 cleaning fee also applies.

A well-appointed two bedroom log cabin on a pristine, wooded shoreline, our camp is a must for those wishing comfortable lodging, quiet solitude and a world-class week of fishing, exploring, boating, swimming, canoeing, sunning, adventuring, beaching, laughing, honeymooning, and generally behaving like a kid again.

The two-bedroom cabin is totally powered by propane. A queen bed in one bedroom and a plush, king bed that can convert into twins in the other. A full refrigerator/freezer, 4-burner range and oven, hot water shower, double sink, wall lights in every room, and a Weber gas grill. All utensils and linens are included. Meals are enjoyed in the dining area, on the balcony overlooking the lake, or on your lakeside dock. Two kayaks and a canoe are included as well as a 14' aluminum motorboat w/9.9 hp electric start Honda motor. Internet access. The cabin does have a land line but long-distance calls are discouraged. Caretaker meets you at the Little Creek parking lot 9 miles west of Saranac Lake and motors you to the camp. 15 minutes. Boat is yours for the week. This is the only rental on Middle Saranac Lake.

Other things to note
A 14-ft Grumman aluminum boat with a 9.9 hp motor, 2 sit-on-top kayaks and a canoe are included with the rental. You will have direct access to all of Middle Saranac Lake, its 18 small islands, two sandy beaches and our connecting and very scenic Weller Pond, all just minutes away. Our new, aluminum dock with built-in ladder stretches 24' onto the lake and provides hours of fun safely jumping into the water. For those guests bringing their own boat, docking right there is easy and convenient.
Enjoying a morning coffee or a sunset beverage at the end of the day on the dock will be memories lasting forever.

Pine Shadows is a 120-year-old rustic camp in the heart of the Adirondacks. On 3.5 acres of woods and over 400 feet of lakefront, the cabin is private and peaceful. The space
The rustic vibes at Pine Shadows are unparalleled. Owned by the same family since 1898, the place is steeped in history. Wake up to the birds chirping, watch the sunset over the lake and enjoy some of the best star gazing in the northeast.

You will be staying in a 120-year-old log cabin with your very own 3.5 acres to explore. Thick woods with tall pine trees, beautiful moss, and pine needle-covered trails lead down to the lake. You will have a large, private, deep-water dock on Tupper Lake - a 9-mile long, 2-mile wide pristine Adirondack lake. Two Kayaks are included with the booking (after the signing of a waiver). Back at the cabin, there is a dart board, ping pong table, and a pile of board games. The living room/dining room offers a fireplace, library and comfortable seating. A table on the porch offers an outdoor dining option. Flashlights are provided for nighttime walks to the dock for stargazing. The parking area can has 5 spots that can independently pull in and out. Wifi (free) is available throughout the house.

The village of Tupper Lake offers several excellent dining options, two grocery stores, and some ice cream parlors. A must-see is The Wild Center, a renowned, hands-on natural history museum. A public 18-hole golf course, a bowling alley, and various nearby hikes and outdoor activities -- are all within 15 minutes of the front door.

Turning right on Hemlock Ledge Road, stay straight until you come to a hill. Go up the hill and stay to the left. Once you have arrived at the cabin, information for where to find the lockbox, as well as the passcode for the lockbox will be provided.
