The Sandy Feet Retreat is a striking and contemporary build in an incredible location, offering a sophisticated beach retreat in summer and a cosy bolthole with roaring wood buners in winter. Based on the concept of a retreat, where serenity, contemplation and restoration are foremost, the house will accommodate up to 7 guests in splendid isolation with all the creature comforts of a luxury hotel.

SEAFRONT GARDEN & SUN DECK

Guests enter the house at ground level via the dining kitchen, through 2 large sliding windows, which open to create an indoor/outdoor space. These give access to a terrace with bespoke outdoor furniture, a built-in barbecue grill, enclosed beach front garden and raised sunbathing deck with panoramic sea views.

SUN LOUNGERS & HAMMOCK

The outdoor areas are ideal for alfresco cooking and dining, reclining on a sun lounger with a glass of something chilled, or just snoozing in the hammock under the sun deck.

BOAT HOUSE (inc. Kayaks & Surfboards)

For those looking for a more active holiday we provide complimentary kayaks, stand up paddleboards (SUPs), bodyboards, surfboards and life vests.

OPEN FIRE PIT (inc. Outdoor Blankets)

The crackling open fire pit is a magical place to gather around at the end of each day to socialise, toast marshmallows or simply gaze at the stars. Outdoor blankets and a guitar are also provided.

GROUND FLOOR LAYOUT

The ground floor is divided into 3 main areas. There's an open-plan dining kitchen, changing area/wet room and a snug. Guests can use these as individual private spaces, or open up the ground floor to feel more connected.

DINING KITCHEN (inc. Log Burner)

The kitchen is bespoke, designed by our architect and built-by-hand locally. It is equipped with all the latest mod-cons, a large oak dining table with views overlooking the sea and a wood burner to light on cool winter mornings or evenings.

CHANGING & WET ROOM

Beyond the dining kitchen there is a downstairs changing area inc. a walk-in wet room with double showers (perfect for sandy kids), plus a cloakroom/WC, washing machine and tumble dryer.

THE SNUG (inc. Log Burner)

To the rear of the ground floor there is a small but beautifully proportioned plywood-lined snug. Here you can retreat indoors, relax on the squishy sofa or floor mattresses, light the second wood burner, watch Netflix, Amazon Prime Video or Freeview, listen to Spotify on the Sonos system, play board games, or simply enjoy lazy afternoon naps on the day bed.

UPPER DECK LAYOUT

When in need of sleep or privacy guests can head upstairs via the blackened steel-clad steps to the first-floor, which has 3 bedrooms (1 with en-suite) and a house bathroom.

HOUSE BATHROOM / WETROOM

The house bathroom/wet room has double walk-in showers, enclosed by frosted glass walls on 3 sides, which illuminate at night to create a stunning light feature.

REAR DOUBLE BEDROOM

This bedroom is particularly quiet, tucked away at the back of the property. It has a king size bed with views of the adjacent nature reserve and bird hide. The silence here is broken only by waves breaking on the shore and faint murmurings of the surrounding wildlife and fauna.

LITTLE BUNK ROOM

Designed specifically with children in mind, this small bedroom has a bunk bed with 2 single mattresses, plus a pull-out/trundle bed that fits neatly underneath for a 3rd child.

MASTER SUITE

The magnificent sea views are best enjoyed from the master suite, where you are perfectly positioned to watch the sun rise over the ocean from the comfort of your king size bed.

BATH WITH SEA VIEWS

The master bedroom also benefits from an en-suite bathroom featuring a bathtub with ocean views, the perfect place to soak for hours while taking in the incredible scenery.

HANGING BUBBLE CHAIR

Designed by Eero Aarnio in 1968 and featured in many movies, music videos, and celebrity photo shoots, the bubble chair which hangs from the ceiling in the master bedroom is the perfect place to sit and enjoy views across the sea, or watch the sun set over the fields behind the house.

The Sandy Feet Retreat is perfect for young families, from toddlers to free-range teenagers. The beach is clean, safe and crowd-free. The water is shallow and shelves gently out to sea. The house is private and secluded with an enclosed garden. Complimentary water sports equipment, just 10 metres from Anderby Creek beach, as well as a nature reserve with sand dunes to explore and wildlife to spot, the house is in a dream location for a seaside family holiday. Also, as parents with a young family ourselves, we have tried to cater for other families like us, so everyone gets a break.

* Baby & Toddler Equipment

You'll find a high chair - travel cot - night light - step-ups (for little legs to reach sinks and toilets) - potty and toilet training seat - shock resistant plates, bowls and tumblers - sip spout trainer cups - kids' cutlery, books and toys.

* Best Rooms For Families

The little bunk room is ideal for small children (sleeps up to 3 little ones in bunk beds and a pull-out trundle bed); the rear bedroom (double) is better for older children; the master suite is best for the travel cot as it's the largest.

* Child Safety & Comfort

There are steep steps from the sunbathing deck down to the patio. The wooden sleepers around the fire pit are a potential trip hazard - keep an eye on small children when the fire is lit. There's no stair gate due to the sliding door arrangement. The little bunk room is a squeeze if sleeping 3.

ECO-CHIC

With some of the world’s most idyllic beaches paying a heavy price for the world population’s plastic use, we are taking steps to reduce our own environmental impact. Every aspect from the towels to the toilet paper to the furniture and general decor has been carefully considered and made as sustainable as possible. We aim to offer a luxury experience without sacrificing our local ecology.

* Recycled Glass

Green and clear recycled glass particles were mixed with pigmented lime to render the exterior walls. By converting this waste into reusable material, the house gains extra protection from the elements. In addition, when sunlight catches the glass it shimmers, providing a unique and attractive aesthetic. Recycled glass also reduces the demand for sand (currently 2m tonnes p.a. are extracted, depleting a natural resource).

* Natural Materials

Many of the finishes and pieces of furniture are composed of natural materials. The walls and ceiling in the kitchen, for example, are covered in clay. An abundant raw material, this 100% natural product requires no painting. It is environmentally inert and non-toxic, as well as breathable and humidity and temperature regulating.

* Green Energy

We purchase energy only from 100% renewable suppliers.

* Air-Source Heating & Cooling

Our underfloor heating system uses air for fuel, which is about as renewable as it gets. It works by transferring heat absorbed from outside (even in temperatures as low as -15°C) to water, which is pumped through tubes embedded in the floors to maintain the house at a comfortable temperature. In the summer it works in reverse, as a cooling system. A bit like a fridge. Our air-source heating system also heats the water, eliminating the need to burn and waste propane, reducing our CO2 emissions.

* Wood Burners

Our Jøtul wood burning stoves are highly efficient. We also only use kiln dried wood supplied locally from sustainable sources, making these appliances a carbon neutral way of heating the house.

* Thermal Insulation

There’s double glazing throughout and a significant amount of above requirement insulation in the walls, floors and ceilings.

* Internet of Things (IoT)

Many of the household appliances and amenities inc. the heating and hot water can be controlled and monitored remotely using wireless reporting systems for predicting maintenance and to analyse energy usage and reduce waste.

* Low Energy Bulbs

Every individual light bulb on our premises is low energy-consumption.

* Class-A Appliances

All appliances are Energy Class-A efficient and star rated, designed to conserve electricity and water inc. the dishwasher, freezer, refrigerator, oven, washing machine and tumble dryer. To limit use of the tumble dryer there’s an outside washing line, so you can air dry wet clothes.

* Green Housekeeping

Our 100% cotton linen is washed using eco-friendly products by a small company in Louth, which not only supports a local business but also reduces our carbon footprint. We use biodegradable cleaning products where possible.

* Waste Recycling

We encourage guests to recycle at least 80% of waste in accordance with the local recycling options available. From glass bottles and plastic packaging to cardboard and paper. There are clearly labelled bins on site for different types of waste and a bottle bank 500 metres away in the car park.

* Wormery

To further reduce waste being hauled to landfill there's a wormery-based composting bin, which breaks down organic food matter into nutrient rich soil and fertiliser. Young children especially love this!

* Refillable Toiletries

We're committed to providing you with the most luxurious toiletries in the most environmentally friendly way, which is why we provide Aesop hand wash in refillable bottles. Nothing is thrown out.

* No Single Use Plastics

There's virtually no single use plastic on the premises.

* Local Food Suppliers

The produce that goes into our welcome pack is sourced mainly from local farms and artisans, enabling us to heavily limit the food miles of things we serve you. Our underlying ethos is a ’25 mile menu’.

* Tote Shopping Bags

We provide canvas tote bags for our guests, eliminating the need for plastic supermarket carrier bags.

* Filtered Drinking Water

Our tap water is safe to drink, though we understand that some guests prefer filtered water, so we provide you with the means to filter it yourselves, to reduce unnecessary packaging waste.

* Low Water Usage

All bathrooms have lo-flow, dual flush toilets to save water.

* Bike Rental Service

There’s lockable bike storage on site, so bring your mountain bike, road racer or BMX! We can also recommend a very good local bike rental service that will deliver and pick up from the house.

* Electric Vehicle Charging

There’s an electric vehicle charging point in the public car park approx. 400 metres away.

* Nesting Boxes

We have nesting boxes in the garden for birds and bats, plus an insect house to encourage bees and other insects to live and nest in the garden.

* Wildflowers & Plants

We’ve sown wildflowers to encourage pollinators, beneficial insects and wildlife… and planted drought resistant native grasses to cut down on unnecessary watering.

* Beach Clean Scheme

There’s a brilliant beach clean scheme available to all guests... look for the litter pick-up tools and signage outside the Anderby Beach Café. This is a great way to educate (especially kids) anyone who's staying with us about plastic pollution.

* Recycled Marketing Materials

Our business and welcome cards are made from recycled paper.

* Local Community

We support our community by contributing to local wildlife charities and also the micro-economy by giving local products and services absolute priority.
