Our little beach house is right on the waterfront at Clarks Beach and the perfect place to escape the city without having to battle for hours in the traffic!
Just 50 minutes’ drive from the CBD, our slice of paradise is the perfect place to unwind, unplug and enjoy the many recreational activities nearby – or just relax and take in the stunning views.
Whether you want a romantic getaway, a break for the family, or some ‘me’ time – this is the place for you whatever the weather!
The bach faces north with a large deck offering panoramic views across the Manukau Harbour to the city way off in the distance and the beautiful Awhitu Peninsula to the west. The summer sunsets are stunning but the winter weather fronts that move across the harbour are a sight to behold.

The apartment is all set up for you to be either creative or just to blob out and read, snooze, play – or enjoy the delights of the region.

You've got exclusive use of a two-room suite. It comprises a bedroom, a living room (which can double as a bedroom using the comfortable sofa bed), a bathroom (shower over the bath), a separate toilet, and a separate small kitchen/laundry.

Your cooking facilities include a microwave, a bench-top oven, an electric frypan and a small fridge. You've got an excellent range of crockery, cutlery and glassware. And outside is a small BBQ, shared between the two units. It's easy to carry out to the deck if you want to eat out there on a fine evening.

A starter pack of breakfast foods, coffees, teas and condiments is supplied - enough for at least a day.

You've got a table in the sitting room for dining or working on your computer, and outside seating on the deck.

There's on-site parking and your own separate access at the back of the main house.

If you're a bigger group, also book my other apartment and I can open the connecting door. That gives you beds for up to six people - 2 couples in the beds and one adult per fold-out sofa bed.

Bring your fishing boat and lines. Launch your boat from the ramp beside our driveway or a 24-hour ramp is 2 minutes’ drive away.

Apart from the two accommodation units, the rest of the house is my private home. I'm a writer, travel a lot, and you'll find me a very quiet neighbour. If I'm home. I'm really happy to help with any queries, but I don't interfere with your privacy.

Special conditions:

Huntly House is a 1911 villa mansion originally from Palmerston North but relocated to rural south Auckland in February 2017 and is situated by the water in Clarks Beach.
The house has undergone almost 3 years full time of a very sympathetic renovation with all the standard insulation, ventilation and heating upgrades expected of a modern home.
The studio room - formerly the house's generator room, is located at the service area of main house with a separate entrance. Huntly House was the first home in Palmerston North with it's own power supply which, along with the size of the home, in its day was an indication of the wealth, social standing and professional reputation of the owner.
Up until 1942 the home had been a private residence but after the death of owner Mrs Grace Burges Huntly House entered into many decades of alternative uses including a boutique hotel, a boarding house, a flat and hostel, a car yard and mechanics workshop before it was finally abandoned and left to the ravages of time, squatters and vandals. On the brink of demolition to clear her once majestic one acre garden site, Huntly House was thrown a life line when purchased by a Dutch family to once again be restored to her former glory as a private residence. Huntly was moved from her original site out to Kelvin Grove, Palmerston North where for almost 30 years was owned by one family who painstakingly restored the house.
Sadly Huntly found herself alone after being sold and needing to be moved off the site to make way for a new development.
We purchased Huntly House in 2016, moved her to the Franklin region in early 2017 and completed another major renovation in Dec 2019. Our vision is to share this magnificent home with others who appreciate the grace and rich craftmanship of the villa period in New Zealand architectural history.

The space
This newly renovated upstairs apartment is warm, bright and sunny. It has open plan kitchen, lounge, and dining that leads out onto a balcony.
It has a large master bedroom, smaller second bedroom and spacious bathroom. The newly renovated kitchen has all new appliances, including induction cooking hobs and integrated dishwasher. There is a washing machine available in the laundry cupboard next to the bathroom and a shared dryer in the garage.

Access to the apartment is through a main house entrance and foyer. Upstairs apartment is fully self contained and lockable from the downstairs apartment and has own private alarm code.
The north facing apartment has beautiful views across the tidal harbour. Walk the beach, watch the sunset from the balcony, or have a fish and chip picnic on the beach.

You will have access to one parking space in the double car garage, and full access to the upstairs apartment which is completely self contained and lockable, with own alarm code.
Access to the beach is via front door and walk down the side of the house.

Your holiday home on the ground floor of the villa consists of one king bedroom with a king bed, one bedroom with a queen bed, a lounge, dining room, bathroom and separate toilet. The upstairs of the property is our private home, so we are easily available if you need anything, but you can have all the privacy you want since our paths won’t cross except perhaps at the front of the property. You can text or email us if you have any queries during your stay.

There is a large table for dining as well as for using as a desk. However, if you wish to do so, you could eat outside in front of the fire or at the bistro table on the deck. There is also a portable table and chair set in the lounge cupboard, which you could place wherever you want, including on the beach. The dining room contains a fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee and tea making facilities, crockery, cutlery and everything you need to make a continental breakfast.

The lounge has a modern leather sofa, a stylish leather reclinable armchair, coffee table etc. There is also a television with a connected computer with several movies for you to choose from if you so wish.

The space
The newly renovated two story house has apartment like living upstairs and down. Both levels come with a full kitchen and bathroom, open plan living and dining with two bedrooms.

Upstairs is bright, warm and sunny, with an open plan kitchen, lounge and dining area that opens out onto a balcony. It has a large master bedroom, smaller second bedroom and spacious bathroom.

Downstairs has a spacious living area, with open plan kitchen, lounge and dining leading to a deck. A master bedroom with ensuite, smaller second bedroom and bathroom.

Both levels are north facing and offer beautiful views across the harbour and the ever changing tidal scenery. Walk the beach, watch the sunset from the balcony or deck, or have a fish and chip picnic on the beach just metres from the door.

This beachfront house is ideal for one big family or two smaller families, with options to be together or have time out when needed.

There is even a range of board games if you happen to get caught in the rain!

is often referred to as the Good Spot!

Is located right on the waterfront of tidal Glenbrook Beach 🏝️ shrouded with ancient Pohutukawa tree's, and only 47mins from the Airport and an hour from the Auckland CBD. 14mins drive to popular Waiuku Golf ⛳️ course/Township.

Or 23min drive to much larger vibrant Booming Pukekohe township , full of trendy bars , Nightclubs and restaurants -the Centre of the Counties/ Franklin region -yet still part of the Auckland Super City 🏙️

A two minute walk along the beach or the reserve to the Beach Playground and Tyre swing.

Brand new Weber Baby Q gas BBQ is always available- or the Weber Charcoal BBQ is available on request.

You have a full designer kitchen in an open plan living space with polished Kauri wooden floors and a high ceiling with exposed spruce trusses. With an amazing harbor side water view throughout the entire Lodge.

Two of the three comfortable bedrooms have beachfront expansive water/ beach 🏝️ views.

The master bedroom is huge and contains a very comfortable brand-new California King size sleepyhead bed with ensuite.

The other two bedrooms have either 1 new huge sleepyhead California King bed or 2 new King size single sleepy head beds in each room depending on the number of booked guests and the configuration required.

All the beds have new organic 100% NZ wool sustainable Woolrest Duvets.

Bedroom 3 may not be available if not required depending on the number of booked guests.

The house is for a maximum of 7 guests.

The two bathrooms are modern with luxurious Italian Carrera tiled floors and walls. The main bathroom is very spacious and has an open plan shower and a freestanding deep bath.

The tiled laundry offers a washing machine and dryer.

On-site parking x3 cars and your own separate access.

The Beach playground is a 2min walk along the Beach Reserve that stretch’s from the Lodge to the end of the Beach and Playground.

The complete absence of artificial light at night means on clear nights the star ⭐️ gazing on the front deck is spectacular!

Two small storage rooms are locked.

These are the Scullery -next to the kitchen at the rear of the lodge.
The Linen room next to the laundry also at the rear of the lodge.

Bedroom 3 may also be locked if not required -due to number of booked guests staying.

The converted un attached Ex garage-building/sleep-out -
self contained
accommodation at the rear of the Lodge is private.

It is in front of where guests may park their cars in a shared parking space.

This is where the host may be staying whilst the Lodge is being used by guests. Please message me at anytime for questions.

It is also where the resident cat Seaweed 🐈‍⬛ lives full time.

Other things to note
Children must not be unsupervised in the main bathroom.
This is a Health and Safety issue.

As the shower has a large freestanding thick tempered glass screen. This must not be pushed or leaned against. Please do not touch it at all and leave it for the cleaners.

Small children must be supervised in the living area to stop ✋ any of the Smart TV, Sky and Modem device cabling from being interfered with.

Must turn off the BBQ Gas from Gas bottle when you have finished cooking please.

Only the master rooms designer wardrobe is available for the storage of your clothes and luggage 🧳
The other two bedrooms wardrobes interiors have not yet been completed and are currently used for storage or are empty.

Please don't place hot items directly on to the laminate kitchen bench top as it is not stone. There are plates or metal trays provided for hot 🔥 items.

As a near new build- The properties parallel boundary fences have yet to be currently completed/ built.

This is a no pets listing.

A young Tabby called Seaweed. He keeps to himself. He has his cat door into the hosts separate accommodation/ sleep out-where the furry little fella can self feed and sleeps.
