It is also just a short walk to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds. Our visit there to see the Māori cultural experience was a highlight and we went back for a second day (included in the price of the entry ticket). The staff were all super friendly and informative. Would also recommend taking the ferry over to Russell. The area around the ferry landing is pretty and has lots of options for a relaxing lunch overlooking the beach, but I would also suggest taking the 15 mins walk across to Long Beach, which is stunning. Also recommend visiting Otehei Bay on Urupukapuka Island, either as part of a boat trip around the islands or as a direct return ferry trip. I was very sceptical but the visit there was another highlight for us"
