Travel back in time nearly 200 years and stay at the Bazil Gordon House -built by America's first millionaire. Circa 1820, this house started as the private home of Bazil Gordon a short walk from his trading outpost in Historic Falmouth, VA directly on the Rappahannock River. The house has also been a civil war hospital, a stop on the underground railroad, a tavern, an excavation site that found venetian trade beads in the back yard, and it is now completely remodeled in 2021 to host guests.

This was such a fun place to stay, away from the city but close enough to enjoy day trips to the capital and surrounding history. THE SPACE
This is a 1000 square foot private entrance two bedroom apartment. It has a large bathroom with a tub/shower. The private entrance with two large side lights (glass) gives a great open feeling and natural light to the great room style just within. It includes a well stocked full kitchen which includes full size appliances including dishwasher, garage disposal, frig, range and small appliances like blender, microwave and not least a Keurig coffee/tea/hot coco maker with a supply of K-cups. A large breakfast bar with stools is handy for visiting with others as you cook. The dining area has multifunction, serving as an eating area with a table with 5 chairs and an office area with desk stocked with some supplies you might need.
The large living room area includes an L shaped couch that two can sleep on with the included pillows and linens. A Queen Air Mattress is available if you prefer for Two upon request. Here you also find the Fire TV and cozy gas fire log stove for a great experience and comfort. The first bedroom includes a queen bed and a pac-n-play for infants you can set up anywhere. Second bedroom sleeps 2 on two single mattresses one being a pull out one and a crib as shown in pictures. Sleeping for 6 plus infant who does not count as a person and stays free if sleeps in the Pack N Play or crib.

The air conditionings and heat thermostat is upstairs so if your not comfortable just give us a text. The thermostat on the center pillar is Heat only for the gas fireplace and may be used in winter for your comfort. Please turn down to minimum when you are out, go to bed or check out. Floor heaters are provided in the bedroom and living area. There are ceiling fans in every area. We usually like it cooler when we sleep in the winter because the central heat dries the air so much so when possible use the electric floor heaters if cold. If you are not comfortable using these Please text us if you are too warm or too cold. If you are not happy we are not happy.

The bedroom closet is available for your things and has the iron and ironing board and extra linens. We have provided paper/office supplies on the desk for your use.

Extra blankets, sheet and pillows for the L shaped couch (not a pullout but comfy) that can sleep 2 is available for extra guest use . If you should need a queen floor air mattress set up instead of the use of couches please text us we can have it set up. That gives sleeping for up to 6 plus an infant in a pack n play or our crib.

Please insure all appliances are off before sleeping and before leaving. Please turn all lights and ceiling fans off when leaving! Please leave porch lights on.

Absolutely NO SMOKING as stated on listing as we are very allergic and our daughter is. Please observe that on the patio and property as well.
No candles or open flames please.
No parties. Only listed guests unless owner notified and approved.

AT CHECKOUT
--please leave all linens and used towels on the floor in bathroom .
--Make sure that dishwasher is loaded and started even if there are just a few items and refrigerator And freezer are empty of your food. We have left certain items in the frig everyone can use if you wish.
--Please place all trash in trash receptacles on driveway.
--Please lock the door and leave the key in the lockbox so you are not charged for a rekey from your security deposit.
