Escape the frenzy of the world in this family friendly spacious and serene space. White Lion Manor is a gated estate located on nearly 7 private, park-like acres-still you're less then 2 miles from local shopping, supermarkets, restaurants, and just 2.5 miles to downtown Middletown (home of Wesleyan University), 20 minutes to Hartford (home of Trinity College, 25 minutes to New Haven (home of Yale University, and only 30 minutes from the Shoreline (Long Island Sound), & less than 2 hrs. from NYC! Built in 1936 by the owner of a shipping company that operated off the Connecticut River, this stately and comfortable property was originally over 52 vast acres and was named Ridgewood Estate. Over the years, land was sold off to build subdivisions surrounding the property. The remaining 7 acres were renamed White Lion Manor in 2020.
The mansion boasts a large open floor plan with a first floor en suite and four bathrooms while the second floor space has an additional 8 bedrooms and 6 full bathrooms.

room, a 4 person infrared sauna, a brookstone massage chair, light exercise equipment as well as an on site laundry room.

Guests have privacy and serenity with full access to the house and grounds during their stay. The first floor is Handicapped Accessible. The basement garage bays and half bathroom located near the laundry room may be accessed by the house manager from time to time during your stay. The White Lion Manor is a perfect balance of tasteful, modern updates with grand colonial craftsmanship. maintains many of the nautical themed architectural features from its original owner to this day-porthole windows, a compass etched into the stone of the front porch, and the den which was originally called the "ship room" designed to look like the inside of a ship. To this day that room retains the original wood floor made from the same wood from which the ships were built.
While this home has a lot of old world charm, we have high speed internet throughout the house (able to handle multiple Zoom calls). The kitchen is fully equipped with all the necessary appliances (including double ovens, two dish washers, two refrigerators, two wine chillers, microwave and a hot water tap).
The butlers pantry adds even more charm and convenience to this wonderful home and is a chefs sanctuary. A fully stocked coffee/tea bar with a Nespresso
maker, coffee pot, complimentary snacks, fruit and a bottle of wine for your stay. We offer a designated workspace area with wifi at 327 Mbps and have central AC and heat throughout the home. And all but two of the guest rooms have en suite bathrooms.
The vibe here at White Lion is comfortable elegance and serenity. With its inviting grounds, expansive patio and pool deck space, the two sunrooms (one off the back of the house that serves as a pool cabana and one off the eat-in kitchen that serves as a breakfast room), it invites you to relax almost upon arrival. In the warmer months the patio is perfect for al fresco dining, picnicking and cookouts.
Seasonally, there is an outdoor kitchen with a bbq grill, counter space, and a refrigerator. The pool is open from May to late September and the oversized jacuzzi is available for use year round.
The home is boasting 9 fire places and has two living room areas (a large formal living room and a more informal den). Both have gas fireplaces and the latter has a TV for relaxing time together and boardgames for family fun. Enjoy popcorn and a movie in the theater room with 9 reclining seats this room won't disappoint. Our newest amenity is the lovely Sauna Room. We've added a four person Far Infrared Sauna for you to use during your stay with us. This room also includes a Brookstone Theramedic Flex massage chair for you to enjoy. There is ample parking off to the side of the circular driveway on the car pad or additional parking around the side of the house near the garages and an EV charger for use during your stay.

- "We came for work and left wanting more. We are from Los Angeles and during our stay, we experienced a snowstorm with 11” of snow. Our car was snowed it and we didn’t have tools to shovel ourselves out. To our surprise, the host arranged some snow shovelers. We were so grateful. All the worries were gone and spent the rest of the snow day playing. The property met all of our expectations. The check in and check out process was very easy. The host was very communicative and quick to respond. The hot water is very hot and comes quickly. The washing machines are large and new. I definitely would recommend this property."

The Space
There are two bedrooms with Queen sized beds (sleeping 2 guests each) and closets. One of these bedrooms also has a TV and dresser. There is a full-sized mattress in the pull-out sofa in the living room to sleep an additional 1-2 people.

The living room offers plenty of space and a large TV. There are also several outdoor spaces including an enclosed front porch, a private back porch, and a fenced-in yard with a fire pit and chairs.

The dining room comfortably seats 6 people. There is a full kitchen with all the appliances and cookware you’ll need! The bathroom has a bathtub and storage for toiletries.

The driveway can fit 3-4 cars and there is free street parking on surrounding streets.

A private office is located off the master bedroom walk-in closet, overlooking the serene backyard. This room also works well as a nursery and can fit a pack-n-play (portable crib).

There is a half bathroom off the foyer, as well as another half bathroom accessed from outside that services the patio.

The kitchen is fully stocked with large and small appliances, including coffeemaker and kitchenaid Mixer. The laundry room is right off the kitchen with full sized washer and new steam multi-function dryer.

The property is on two acres surrounded by hundreds of acres of conservation land. There are hiking trails right behind the home that go on for miles. The 8’ round firepit is situated at the rear of our property and is very secluded. We include firepit wood and it can make a roaring campfire!

The home is less than ten minutes to downtown Middletown where there are many shops and restaurants. Instacart also delivers to the home for groceries and liquor. Bike riding is easy to do on the main road heading to town, or there are dedicated bike trails twenty minutes away. There are two public ponds located three minutes from the house. Each offers swimming, fishing, hiking trails, and non-motorized boating.

The pool and spa are not open in the fall/winter. Piano has since been removed.

They may spend time in common areas and will likely try to interact with guests. Dog walkers may be in the downstairs shared space for up to 30 minutes a day, usually two-three times a week. Private First Floor Rear Apartment of an 1849 historical home in the heart of Middletown, CT. One block walk to Wesleyan University with private parking. Main street also one block away with many great restaurants, and our best local coffee shop (Klekolo) just doors away from your apartment. The House is across from the public library. Stone patio in a lovely fenced in rear yard.

The space
This private first floor apartment is an addition located on the rear of our Historic Greek Revival Italianate House. It is a 1 bedroom studio apartment with a fully equipped kitchen and a bathroom with a tub/shower. There is a separate laundry room off the back of the main house with a washer/dryer unit for your convenience. It is through the double glass doors off the patio. The apartment has a tv with basic cable and wireless internet. The bedroom has a ceiling fan and a supplemental gas heater for added comfort. We install window unit AC during the warmer months. The rear yard is fenced in and a great place to relax when the weather is nice. The best part of this house is that we have an extraordinary rear yard that offers something more like a retreat in the middle of the city. The whole experience of this apartment is quiet, peaceful and extremely convenient to Wesleyan and other Middletown area activities.

The space
--Parking--
Guest parking is on the right side of the driveway. There is a small open garage entrance that most cars can fit in. Larger cars we recommend do not park within the garage for easy exit/entrance into your car.

--Host Living Space--
Adjacent to your suite is our home. We are both musicians (harpist and guitarist) so you may occasionally hear music between the hrs of 9am-8pm. If this is an issue for you, all we need is a friendly word from you. The guest suite is separated from the home by a locked door. We always respect quiet hrs, but we are a family and this is our home so please be aware that you may hear us cooking, working or simply going about our day during non quiet hrs. If you’re looking for complete silence or total seclusion, this setup may not be the best fit.

--Yard Access--
2 beautiful acres are currently being maintained but is open for general use. We are currently working on the landscaping. The patio area in the front of the suite is specifically for guests.
If you wish to spend extended time outside in the backyard please be aware that the property owners use it extensively and while they would love to share it you will have to be willing to share as well!

DO NOT smoke within the suite. The patio or yard are fine. There is an ash tray on the front patio for any smoking remnants. Do not smoke in the backyard.

Keep it simple at this peaceful and centrally-located place. 1/2 mile walk to Wesleyan’s campus and just a mile from downtown (both easily walkable!) We have a simple studio apartment above our garage with a double bed, bathroom (shower) and a hot plate, microwave, fridge and electric kettle for your easy kitchen needs!

Located minutes away from Downtown Middletown with over 30 gourmet restaurants, a movie theater, and other attractions, including historic Wesleyan University! There is NO KITCHEN but there are numerous restaurants who deliver. If you require an extended stay, there are large closets in each bedroom, and plenty of cabinet space in the bathroom.

Guests will have their own private floor with 3 bedrooms - 2 bedrooms have queen beds, 1 bedroom also serves as a living room with a sleeper sofa, sleeps 6 total. There is 1 large bathroom with 2 sinks & 1 shower (no tub). Shared entrance coming into the home but guest space is separate from our main floor which is closed off. Ample parking in back or front of the home for 2 or more cars. PLEASE NOTE THERE IS NO KITCHEN access or meal service, but plenty of food options available via delivery, local take-out, and a plethora of nearby restaurants. There is a laundromat less than 1 mile away.

During your stay
We live on property downstairs and are available when needed!

Your family (including your pups) will be close to everything when you stay at this centrally-located apartment. We are pet friendly and have a fenced in backyard for your use. We are minutes from downtown Middletown with shopping and great restaurants. If you have a student at Wesleyan this is a great place to be together away from the dorms.

The space
First floor apartment with two bedroom and a sofa bed for extra guests. There are steps to enter the apartment so no wheelchair accessibility. Full service kitchen and 2 dining areas. We are pet friendly and have a dog crate and a fenced in backyard. Wash and dryer are located in the basement as is the second bedroom.

The apartment and backyard are yours, front porch is shared with upstairs apartment.

Feel free to enjoy use of the yard, beach, dock, and paddleboat. Please do not use the canoe or standing paddleboard.

Other things to note
No guests are allowed beyond those booking the room. Pets may be allowed, depending on specifics. No pets unless host’s pre-approval is communicated in the app. Violation of either of these rules will result in termination of your stay, with no refund. Quiet time is from 10pm to 6 am.

Safety Measures:
Our property features Ring security cameras. These cameras are external and outward-facing, ensuring privacy within interior spaces. They record video and sound when activated by motion.

Smoking Policy:
Smoking or vaping is not allowed inside the house. A $500 cleaning fee will be assessed for deep cleaning to remove any smoke odor before the next guest checks in. However, you’re welcome to smoke outside in the breezeway - an attached room by the garage. Please use the provided ashtray.

Location and neighborhood:
Our home is conveniently located near the downtown area and the recently updated Veterans Memorial Park swimming pool with a splash pad.
Abundant restaurants, grocery stores, and pharmacies are within easy walking distance.

Early Check-in Availability:
If you’d like to arrive before our standard 4:00 PM check-in time, just let us know ahead of time. When available, we’re happy to offer early check-in at a discounted fee so you can settle in and feel at home right away.
