THIS IS AN OLD HOME owned by a low-income person with disabilities. It keeps the rain off your head, provides running water, and keeps you cool in summer and warm in winter. That is all you should expect.

It is in need of renovation and maintenance. Some people say it smells 'musty'. The walls are patchy. There are cracked tiles, stained countertops, chipped sinks, ceiling spots, etc. IT IS NOT BUG-PROOF. There is no toxic mold, and I clean the bathroom regularly, but it still LOOKS moldy even right after I clean it.

Your room, the bathroom, and the kitchen are tidy and thoroughly cleaned before each visit. THE LIVING ROOM AND DINING ROOM ARE NOT GUEST AREAS AND THEY ARE MESSY. If walking past clutter is upsetting for you, do not stay here.

Shared kitchen, bathroom, washing machine (and clothesline, NO DRYER). Note, no tv or living room area. I try to keep at least half of the kitchen table clear, so you can eat there if you wish, but many guests prefer to eat at the desk in your room.

Olive Branch is 30 minutes from Memphis. There are plenty of shopping, restaurants and night life within minutes from our home. Methodist hospital is approximately 5 minutes away, Baptist hospital is about 20 minutes.

Feel free to use the kitchen, breakfast nook and formal dining room and make yourself comfortable. Please do not leave food cooking on the stove or microwave unattended. The living area with the 70" television is also a common area accessible to our guests. It also has DirecTV and a Firestick. Guests are also welcome to use the washer/dryer and patio with barbeque grill.

AMBIANCE:
The house is beautifully bright, sunny & charming. The positive energy & warm karma is quite magical. Although but an idle object, this house seemingly has a soul.
Locals believe it to be so as a result of its many years in service to the community in need, ie, WW I & II boarding house to the Methodist Hospital at end of Bay St.

Melodic church bells can be heard each quarter-hour throughout the day.

Hattiesburg is indeed a hub, ie, Trains. The haunting clackity-clack sounds & forlorn whistles of the big trains can oftentime be heard thru-out the day till midnight. Frankly this owner’s favorite thing about living downtown is the sounds & presence of these powerful trains & nostalgic nuances of another era when trains ruled.

My 1896 house, in addition to the short-term suite that is described with my listing on Airbnb, includes an extended stay studio unit, with 13-foot ceilings, a private kitchenette and bathroom, and access to a full kitchen. It is close to downtown, restaurants, theatres, and our medical centers.
