- "Was great and as promised, only complaint was smelled of strong cleaning products" - "Exceptional" - "The noise from the HWY terrible, The bright lights from vehicles approaching the cabin was really annoying because they were very close and was so hard to view the night sky You are not able to sleep with the curtains open because of the same vehicle bright lights. " - "Stardust Big Bend is worth 6 stars!! We looked high and low for a rental that met our needs and this far exceeded our expectations. It is conveniently located near Big Bend NP and very close to many local dining options. The A-Frame is the star of the show. Clean and modern, NOT an old cabin or trailer. A private bathroom with indoor plumbing that worked flawlessly as well as hot water. The bed was comfortable and all the linens were clean and smelled fresh. Stop looking and book it already, you will not be disappointed. "

The Modern House is a beautiful 540 sq ft private house. The house boasts a full kitchen with a full size refrigerator. There is a nice 3 piece bathroom with shower. The Modern House also boasts a deck with a large covered patio with swinging chairs, BBQ pit and hot tub. We also follow the dark sky initiative and the star gazing is amazing on clear nights. This stunning Terlingua vacation rental is located 3 miles from the Big Bend National Park and a few minutes from the Terlingua Ghost Town. If having a relaxing vacation, away from the hustle bustle and privacy is a must, Paisano Azul Ranch is for you.
Since we are in the desert and water is a precious resource, we offer a hot tub or a cool pool for those who would like to use it after along days hike for an extra fee. The hot tub fee is a one time fee of $100 on top of the rental fees. The cool pool is a one time fee for $40/booking during the summer.
- "Great location close to Big Bend entrance. Clean space, easy access and has wonderful views!" - "The Modern House at Paisano Azul exceeded our expectations! The house had everything we needed plus a great view. It is clean and extremely comfortable. This is the perfect location to enjoy Big Bend and the town of Terlingua." - "The house was a modern 1 bed room secluded from others. The second bed is a trundle style sofa pull out. It worked well for our 11 yr old twins, not sure it would work for two adults. The hot tub was inflatable and had a great view of the mountains. There was a full size refrigerator and stove/oven. You could easily cook there if you wanted. It was less than. a 20 min drive to the park entrance. Coffee and a coffee maker are provided, but bring your own cream and sugar. We got there the first night in total darkness and had trouble finding it. The property manager called me and helped me find it. It was a quiet and cozy place to stay."

Summary:
Welcome to Terlingua's Stardust Big Bend, where we primarily offer luxury A-Frames, but this one is our budget-friendly option, the container home. The location is central, 5 minutes from the national park and Ghosttown, on the main highway. It has a full kitchen with all cooking essentials. Even though the container home is tight, you can relax and spread out more in our large clubhouse next door. The clubhouse has a pool table, air hockey, foosball, arcades, darts & more. We have 12 rentals in total for large groups to stay together.
The Space:
This is our budget-friendly option, so the rates are low compared to our more luxurious cabins. However, you still benefit from the great location (5 mins from the park and the ghost town) and amenities such as the clubhouse. Being a container, everything is a bit tight as containers are only 8 feet wide. We have two bedrooms, each with a queen bed. There is a full kitchen with all the cooking essentials, pots/pans, utensils, plates, silverware, spices, oil, coffee, creamer, and sugar provided. We have a shower and restroom, and we provide clean white linen and towels. There is a full fridge, freezer, oven, and stove available so you can cook and save money.
The clubhouse is next door with a pool table, arcade games, giant air hockey, foosball, dart board games, and more. You have 24/7 access to the clubhouse.
On the outside, we have four chairs around a fire pit. You get a gorgeous view of the Chisos Mountains while sitting outside. The container is close to the road, so there will be some lights from the cars passing on the road, however, you are able to move the chairs to the other side if desired or sit outside the clubhouse.
If you understand that this is a container home and you will be spending much of your day in the park, then you will be satisfied. If you want lots of room to move around, then this is probably not a good fit for you. You can hang out in the clubhouse if you feel a bit tight in the container home.
We also have an on-site guest laundry with a washer and dryer. We provide the laundry detergent for your convenience.
There is a charcoal BBQ grill next to the Container. We provide grilling utensils, lighter fluid, and a lighter.
We have level-2 EV chargers on site to charge your Tesla (NACS) or non-Tesla (J1772) electric vehicles. There is an additional $30 fee to use the EV charger if needed (charged for each night of the booking).
We have backup Generac generators for the full facility. Power outages are frequent in the area (sometimes 2-3 times per month) and we are one of the very few properties in the area with backup power. You don't want to be stuck in a vacation rental when the power goes out. Temperatures can be extreme at any time of the year in the Big Bend.
Guest Access:
You will be given the door code to enter your unit. You have access to the entire container home, the outside seating, the fire pit, and the clubhouse. Please stay on the walkways and don't wander off the walkways or near other cabins to give everyone their privacy.
The Neighborhood:
Well, we are in the desert. There is not much of a neighborhood as we have vast empty spaces around us, yet close to the park and restaurants. The Ghost Town is 3 mins away, Big Bend National Park is 5 mins, Lajitas is 15 mins. There are very few properties nearby. The back side of our property has Cigar Mountain, there is only one vacation rental on it that is visible from the property. Other than that you have unrestricted views of Big Bend National Park, Chisos Mountains, Santa Elena Canyon, and other nearby mountains.
Getting Around:
A car is essential to get around. Some businesses in town offer jeep rentals for your off-roading adventures
Other Things to Note:
Please specify the correct number of people when booking.
Pets are not allowed. If we do find out you brought a pet (which we almost always do when guests try to break the rules), there will be $199 extra cleaning fee and any damage by the pet will also be charged to your card.
Interaction with Guests:
Please send a message in the app. We will respond promptly. If you don't get a response in 30 mins, feel free to call us
- "We stayed in the container home located on the property and had a great experience. Great place to stay and view the dark sky and sunrise. " - "Our goal during a bucket list trip to Big Bend National Park was to spend a full day hiking and enjoying the desert environment knowing we had a comfortable place to relax after a long day in the park. Stardust's Big Bend was perfect and exceeded all expectations! Hosts were prompt, thorough and thoughtful while returning any inquiry we had, large or small. We stayed at the Container unit and enjoyed new appliances, fresh linens, and a full kitchen... all impeccably clean. The entire complex grounds were groomed, clean and safe. While we didn't use the club house, we did check in and could see how it would be a great asset to guests with kids and teens. The night sky was wonderful and the hosts' focus on night time light discipline made it possible. Location was a big plus with immediate proximity to Terlingua and only minutes away from Lajitas and the Big Bend National Park. Stardust Big Bend played a significant role in helping create the perfect Big Bend get away. Hands down, we'll be back and we'll stay at Stardust Big Bend. Fantastic experience. Great job, and thank you! "

Terlingua Sky is a modern solar powered home with rustic flare and amazing mountain views, located on a hilltop near the Terlingua Ghost Town. With two bedrooms, two full baths, an open plan living room, dining room, and kitchen, plus great porches, you’ll have plenty of room to relax and enjoy the tranquility of the Big Bend. The amazing views of the Chisos Mountains are simply breathtaking.
Named for our amazingly clear skies, Terlingua Sky, is perfectly situated for enjoying awe inspiring views at any time of day or night. Sunrises are unparalleled thanks to unobstructed views of the sun rising over the Chisos Mountains to the east. Daytime views include endless horizons of scenic mountains in the US and Mexico. Sunset views will find you looking more to the east than the west, as the reddening rays of the sun light up the mountains with dynamic displays of color and light. Nighttime views of the starry skies or bright moon are inspirational. The stars at night truly are big and bright deep in the heart of Big Bend country.
While you’ll be tempted to spend all your time outside, you’ll definitely find the inside to be inviting, comfortable, and visually appealing. The home is solidly built with heavy gauge steel structural supports and an all metal roof. The exterior has a classic stucco finish and the interior is beautiful wood and tile. All the furnishings were selected for comfort and style. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed and the second bedroom has a queen. Both have private bathrooms with stylish tile showers. The living, dining, and kitchen area is open and spacious. Perfect for enjoying time together with your family or friends. Of course, privacy is also important. That’s why the interior walls are all insulated for sound dampening.
The home is brilliantly designed for both comfort and eco-efficiency. The professionally designed solar power system provides ample power for all the modern comforts, including a highly efficient air-conditioning system. Extensive shading, insulation, and high-quality windows ensures that the home requires minimal use of the air-conditioning or heating systems. Take advantage of our cool summer nights and warm winter days by opening the windows and enjoying fresh desert air. The shaded porches allow you to enjoy the outdoor views and breezes without being overwhelmed by the desert sun. They also shade the house and help provide comfort inside. For rare occasions when the solar array and large battery bank does not provide enough power, the home is equipped with an auto-start back-up generator. Regardless of power consumption, you will never run out of electricity.
Water is rare and precious in the desert. Water at Terlingua Sky comes from the sky. An extensive rain catchment system collects rainwater and stores it for future use. We request that guests conserve water as much as is comfortable. Our first concern is for your comfort. The rainwater is filtered and treated for household use. However, it is not officially tested and approved as potable. We provide bottled water for drinking, making coffee, cooking, and any other human consumption.
Most of our guests are coming out here to explore Big Bend National Park, the Rio Grande River, Big Bend Ranch State Park, and the Terlingua Ghost Town. Terlingua Sky is perfectly located for easy access to all these local attractions, but just far enough off the beaten path to enjoy privacy and solitude. After all you probably didn’t drive hundreds of miles into the middle of nowhere just to be crowded by noisy or nosy neighbors.
As our guests, you will be able to pursue all sorts of wild adventure or history of the parks and river, the lively social scene with art, dining, and live entertainment in the Ghost Town and other local venues, explore the nearby ruins from the heyday of Terlingua Cinnabar mining, or simply relax and unwind. However you decide to spend your time under the Terlingua sky, you’ll be able to leave here as exhausted or refreshed as you want. Don’t worry if you don’t get to do it all in one visit. You’re welcome to return time and time again.

Ten Bits Ranch has some of the best views of the famous Big Bend stars. Since Ten Bits Ranch is completely off grid and located on 550 private acres, there are no neighbors and no ground lights to obscure the perfectly dark night sky.
The amazing solitude is extremely quiet and peaceful day or night. If you come to Ten Bits Ranch when the moon cycle is dark, after 20 minutes (for your eyes to adjust), the stars will appear to surround you like a blanket. Be sure to watch for shooting stars. There is a shooting star in view at Ten Bits Ranch almost every week. Ten Bits Ranch offers a truly private, unique, off grid, dark sky star gazing experience that few people have the opportunity to see in person. The craggy Chimney Rock Mountain blocks out a beautiful black jagged silhouette in the blanket of stars.
Well-behaved pets (and well-behaved people) are welcome at Ten Bits Ranch. Hike and explore at your leisure with both your 2 and 4 legged friends.
Thank you for considering Ten Bits Ranch for your Big Bend Adventure. Wherever you choose to stay, the Big Bend area is a wild, unique and a truly beautiful place that is well worth the trip.
Don’t just take our word for it, see what previous guests are saying in our reviews.
Delmonico's Steakhouse (Room #5) is a very large private hotel room with 2 king beds, full sized couch, air conditioning, gas log fireplace, WIFI, satellite television, mini refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and a large private bath, all in an old Western town setting.
The Ten Bits Ranch Delmonico's Steakhouse (Room #5) is part of an old West town themed setting. There is a Bank, Schoolhouse, Gun Shop, General Store, Steakhouse, Hattery, Gazette, Courthouse, Saloon, Hotel, Barber Shop, Saddle shop and Jail.
There are several shared fire pits on Ten Bits Ranch, including one right outside Delmonico's Steakhouse (Room #5). There is a guest shared Cantina dining area with a full kitchen for your use. You may save a significant amount of time and money while in Big Bend by preparing your own meals in the shared Cantina kitchen.
Built in 2020, the Ten Bits Ranch Delmonico's Steakhouse (Room #5) is a highly engineered, high efficiency desert oasis with 14-inch-thick insulated reinforced concrete walls, geothermal heating and cooling in the floor, 8.5 inches of closed cell foam ceiling insulation (like a Yeti cooler) and 100% self-generated solar power. Delmonico's Steakhouse (Room #5) is nearly twice the size of a standard hotel room yet due to efficient construction the room uses only one quarter of the electric power of a normal room.
Enjoy some of the best star and mountain views in Big Bend all while staying in a real West Texas off grid setting.
- "Great location as long as you enjoy tranquility. The 2 mile dirt road into the property took me back to my childhood growing up in the country and the view from the porch is nothing short of majestic." - "The morning of our last day started with a sprinkle that ended with a double rainbow streaming from the top of Hen Egg Mountain! Describes our entire stay. Thank you" - "Ten Bits is the cutest little community. Our cabin was perfect for the 4 of us. The views from the porch were amazing. We spent every night watching the stars. Love this place. We will be back!"

Hot water, private entry through the bath house, and incredible views make this an experience you won't forget.

StarGazers water supply is rainwater collection and water is very sparse in the desert. We request keeping showers to 3 minutes. Please do not remove fossils or rocks from the property - instead take a picture and leave it for the next person to discover. Thank you for respecting Big Bend and the surrounding desert, treading lightly, and practicing sustainable living during your visit.

As others have stated, the description about the property and photos are 100% spot on. It is very well supplied and stocked with supplies and incidentals which help make the stay that much more stress free. The highlight is the outdoor space. Want to sit and eat at a proper table? Got it. How about an outdoor couch? Yep. Gas firepit with comfy chairs? Of course. The property is quiet and serene with a small hiking path in the back for exploring the grounds. - "Clean, walking distance to several restaurants, and very close to Big Bend National Park. The keurig was a nice touch. The only suggestion I have is to to bring another towel if you plan on hiking a lot. There’s only one bath towel per person, so when showering twice a day for a few days you might want a second towel. The bed was extremely comfortable. We also enjoyed the fire pit and board games." - "My husband and I used this as a home base for our Big Bend trip. The location to the park was great. In the evenings, we could walk to the activities in Terlingua. It was very peaceful and oh those starry skies!!!"

Fossil Knob Ridge - Quicksilver House: Relax is Style at this Ultra-Modern Container Home Near Terlingua Ghost Town
The Space:
High Clearance Vehicle Recommended due to rough and rocky roads.
Book your vacation at the ultimate modern vacation rentals in the rugged outback of the Big Bend region. In a land of endless mountain and desert vistas that is famed for ghost town ruins, rustic adobes, and Old West ranch homes, the Fossil Knob Ridge vacation rentals offer a unique contrast. The ultra-modern vacation rentals at Fossil Knob Ridge are contemporary homes built from recycled shipping containers. Yes, you read that right. These vacation rental homes are constructed from big metal boxes that were originally used for transporting cargo across the globe on trains and ocean freighters. The owner purchased them from a shipping company and converted them into contemporary and stylish living spaces. Don’t worry though, they are far more than just metal boxes with some furniture. Indeed, these homes offer the most neoteric lodging in the Terlingua area.
Fossil Knob Ridge offers six separate units. Each rental is similarly styled but each is unique in size, layout, design, furnishings, amenities, views, and occupancy level. The rentals are named after some of the local cinnabar mines that were the basis of settlement of this region in the late 1800's and early 1900's. The Cinnabar House has two king beds and sleeps up to 4. The Chisos house sleeps up to three with a king bed and a sofa. The Quicksilver, Mariscal, Buena Suerte, and Sierra Vista rentals sleep two, with a king bed in each.
THIS LISTING IS FOR THE RAINBOW HOUSE AT FOSSIL KNOB RIDGE.
The Quicksilver House is an ultra-modern home built from two recycled 20’ shipping containers. Joined together and offset from one another to create a comfortable living space. Living area, dining area, bedroom and kitchen. Modern design, styling, and art are featured inside and out. Please view the photos for the best description.
Sleeps two guests. The bedroom has a king-sized bed. If you have a larger group, or simply want more space, we recommend booking multiple rentals at Fossil Knob Ridge. It is close by but faces away from the other rentals. All rentals have privacy and their own unique views.
Each of the Fossil Knob Ridge Rentals are on the electric grid for reliable and ample electric power. All are fully air-conditioned and heated and have modern electric appliances. Potable water is trucked in and stored in holding tanks for your use. There is plenty of water available but trucking it in is expensive. We ask that you conserve it, but not so much as to compromise your comfort.
Located just one-mile northwest of the world famous Terlingua Ghost Town and twenty miles northwest of the Chisos Mountains in Big Bend National Park. Fossil Knob Ridge overlooks the Ghost Town and has breathtaking mountain views, including the Chisos Mountains and into Mexico.
Relax inside or on the shaded patio. Explore the fossil strewn 20-acre property. Drive or walk (it’s a long but enjoyable walk in good weather) into the Ghost Town to explore the historic ruins, dine, drink, enjoy live music, or hang out with local and travelers from around the globe. If you play an instrument or sing, join in on an impromptu jam, session on the porch of the old trading post. Drive into Big Bend Nation Park or Big Bend Ranch State park for endless outdoor adventures. Book a river trip, jeep tour, horseback ride, mountain bike rental, guided hike, or guided hunt. Enjoy a controlled campfire. Marvel at the night skies. Watch the stunning sunrises and sunsets. Do as much or as little as you like. Then, come back again and do even more or even less.
Guest Access:
A key code is provided after the reservation is confirmed and paid. Guests are welcome to let themselves in and make themselves at home upon arrival at or after the check-in time.
Interaction with Guests:
We manage several properties and live several miles away. We are available by phone, text, email, or messaging. We are typically only on site for cleaning or maintenance issues.
- "The stay was great. We were close to Big Bend where we spent most of our days. The property was very clean and well stocked with everything you needed. The only issues that we didn't like were the drive from the base of the hill to the property. The rough road gets very tiring. We also didn't really care for being told to limit our water usage." - "Everything was just like the description. The space was extremely comfortable & perfect for our stay. The location was great for visiting Big Bend. We enjoyed it & look forward to coming again!!"

Tiny Terlingua is minutes from the historic Terlingua Ghosttown, conveniently situated between Big Bend National Park and Big Bend Ranch State Park. The park entrance is 10 minutes away. This little house is tucked away on the corner of 5 acres with plenty of room for enjoying a campfire, viewing the night sky and watching an amazing sunrise. A peaceful desert paradise perfect for nature lovers!
Tiny Terlingua is a partially solar-powered earth friendly home offering a kitchenette, an upstairs loft bedroom and a separate bathhouse that is bigger than the house! Grid-tied air conditioners and heaters in both the house and the bathhouse offer sweet respite from the summer heat and the winter cold. The wrap around porch provides all-day shade for the house and outdoor living space.
KITCHEN - The kitchen area is small but has everything you'll need for a short stay - a three burner propane cooktop, a copper farmhouse vessel sink and a mini fridge. A coffee pot, percolator and water kettle are provided as well as a french press for making coffee or tea. Coffee and a selection of teas are also provided. There are drinking glasses, coffee mugs, small plates, bowls, some flatware, a stainless steel skillet, a small pot and cooking utensils. There is also a Weber grill - please bring your own charcoal.
LOFT - The bedroom is an upstairs loft which is accessible by ladder. Watch the stars from a super comfy full size mattress with big fluffy pillows. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE COMFORTABLE CLIMBING A LADDER BEFORE BOOKING THIS RENTAL. Climbing in and out of the loft bed on a narrow, steep ladder requires agility and balance. See the photos in this listing and consider whether you will be able to climb up and down from the loft without putting yourself in danger. There is a twin-size futon downstairs for lounging or for sleeping another guest. Additional pillows and sheets for the futon are available upon request.
BATHHOUSE - The bathroom is a separate building just a short walk from the house. Custom vanity, large rainshower and a window unit air conditioner make this bathhouse super comfortable. Its just as big as the house! Towels, handsoap, body wash, shampoo and conditioner are all provided.
OUTSIDE - Although there are solar lights positioned around the house outside, I strongly advise bringing a flashlight to get around after dark.
I live on the opposite side of the property and am available anytime for questions about the area.
Other Things to Note:
- Tiny Terlingua is located on a bumpy dirt road but is accessible by most vehicles if traveled slowly.
- I share my space with two dogs. Kutsy is a 9 year old husky ridgeback mix weighing about 60 pounds. Banjo is a 5 year old mixed breed weighing 45 pounds. They rarely make an appearance at the tiny house but if you do see them, they are friendly.
- Smoking is allowed but only outside. Please dispose of your cigarette butts in the ashtray provided,
- Must climb stairs - There is a sliding library ladder to access the bedroom loft.
Terlingua Ghosttown, Starlight Theatre, Terlingua Trading Post and Posada Milagro Coffee Shop are all a short drive from the house or a pleasant fifteen minute walk. The entrance to Big Bend National Park is about twenty minutes away and Big Bend Ranch State Park HQ is twenty minutes in the other direction. The Cottonwood Store is our local grocery store and carries just about anything you could need. Its a ten minute drive from the house.
HOUSE MANUAL:
The solar system by which the house is run is a substantial system. That being said, the power provided is not infinite and must be managed. Just a few cloudy days and leaving appliances run all day and night can cause a system fault. Learning to manage your power is an integral part of off grid living. Please do not bring a microwave, toaster oven, coffee pot or hot water kettle. All of these things require a lot of power and will either drastically deplete the power supply or fault the system. Likewise, a jet-powered hair dryer will not work. I have provided a small hairdryer that will do the job without consuming too much power.
PROPANE COOKTOP
The cooktop requires a stick lighter for lighting which you will find in the utensils can on the countertop. The gas supply is located in an outdoor closet on the south side of the house. There is a spare gas tank in the bench on the west side of the house. If you are not comfortable changing out the gas tank, please let me know and I’ll be more than happy to change it.
DARK SKY
We love and cherish our night sky. Please do not leave the outside porch light on overnight.
NOISE
Voices carry a long way out here and depending on the direction of the wind, your conversations can be heard farther away than you think - and very clearly, I might add. Quiet time is between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. No loud music, no parties and no yelling. Thanks!
- "This place is awesome! It was perfect for two people. If you’re looking to just get away and want to hang out at the house it’s great... or if you’re just looking to use it as a base camp for adventures... also great. Very well though out and just an amazing experience." - "High end cooking utensils and amenities. Coffee and water provided. Excellent directions and guidance to local restaurants and events. Friendly and responsive owner. "

The entrance to Big Bend national Park is only 10 minutes away. The Cottonwood grocery store and many of our towns bars, restaurants and attractions are only 10 minutes away. There is a smart TV mounted on the wall, with all your favorite apps like Netflix, Hulu, Disney, ESPN, etc. There is a small dining table with two chairs in front of the TV. The same table can be used as a workspace for remote work.
There is a full kitchen with a cooktop, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, sink, slice toaster, air fryer/toaster oven, electric kettle, and pour-over coffee maker. We provide pots, pans, utensils, and cutlery.

You have access to the entire A-Frame, the outside patio, the fire pit, and the clubhouse. Please stay on the walkways and don't wander off the walkways or near other cabins to give everyone their privacy.
The Neighborhood:
Well, we are in the desert. There is not much of a neighborhood as we have vast empty spaces around us, yet close to the park and restaurants. The Ghost Town is 3 mins away, Big Bend National Park is 5 mins away, and Lajitas is 15 mins away. There are very few properties nearby. The back side of our property has Cigar Mountain, there is only one vacation rental on it that is visible from the property. Other than that, you have unrestricted views of Big Bend National Park, the Chisos Mountains, Santa Elena Canyon, and other nearby mountains.
Getting Around:
A car is essential to get around. Some businesses in town offer jeep rentals for your off-roading adventures
Other Things to Note:
Please specify the correct number of people when booking. Up to 4 people are included in the listing cost and will be comfortable in the space. If you want to bring a 5th person, please be aware that you will be very tight. There is a $35 charge for the 5th person per night. We will provide a floor mattress. If we discover you brought extra people (through staff reports or cameras), we will charge $70 per person per night.
Pets are not allowed. If we do find out you brought a pet (which we almost always do when guests try to break the rules), there will be a $199 extra cleaning fee, and any damage by the pet will also be charged to your card.
Also, please review the pictures carefully. We have 12 cabins. All the A-frames have similar interiors and comparable views outside. We use the pictures interchangeably between the A-frames. Most of the exterior pictures are labeled showing the A-Frame they were taken at, and we also have a picture showing the aerial view of the property, showing the location and proximity of each cabin relative to others.

Please send a message in the app. We will respond promptly. If you don't get a response in 30 mins, feel free to call us

On the outside, we have a hammock and a sofa dining set under a covered pergola. The pergola has louvers that can be opened or closed depending on the weather. It also has a screen that can be pulled down for shade. In front of the A-Frame, we have two Adirondack chairs that you can sit in and enjoy the magnificent view of the Chisos Mountains. There is also a fire pit with four benches around it.
We have a huge shared clubhouse. The clubhouse has a professional pool table, a huge air hockey table, foosball, arcades with thousands of retro games, darts, board games, and more. When you are done with the hiking and exploring, the clubhouse is an excellent way to have some indoor fun. It is especially useful to keep the kids entertained.
We also have an on-site guest laundry with a washer and dryer. We provide the laundry detergent for your convenience.
There is a charcoal BBQ grill near your A-frame.

Not only did we have beautiful views at the park, but also when we came home! It was so nice watching the sun rise on the back porch. Would love to come back! The stars are beautiful at night :)" - "Stardust VRBO exceeded all expectations! From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by how immaculately clean the place was. The check-in process was a breeze, thanks to clear instructions provided. The A-frame's location couldn't have been better for our visit to Big Bend National Park. We truly appreciated the extra touches like the provision of coffee, makeup towels, and luxurious linens—it really felt like a home away from home. The outdoor seating area was ideal for stargazing, and we were delighted to find that all neighboring homes were respectful, making for a quiet and peaceful retreat. Loved the wagons that were located near parking to allow for easy unloading and loading of luggage. Would definitely recommend to others and stay here again! Overall, a fantastic experience!"

- "Slava is awesome, he let our girls sleep in a teepee next to our yurt one night. The area is close enough to the highway but still feels isolated and miles from the everything. The yurts are fantastic. Will definitely be coming back. Make sure you use Google maps, Apple Maps will take you to the ghost town" - "We truly made memories that will last us a lifetime here. My husband wanted to camp, I wanted to be somewhere comfortable. This place was the best of both worlds. You're on the side of a large hill giving you spectacular views & privacy while sleeping on a very comfortable, warm queen sized bed! The tent was surpringly spacious and we felt safe there. Honestly could not have been better! We both agreed this had been the most amazing and unique renting experience we have ever had! The night sky in this location is awe-inspiring we star gazed so long just admiring all the stars and the visible misty milky way- we even had the wonderful chance of seeing a HUGE comet go across the sky! (we will never forget that) Besides that, it is so close to the National Park and the Ghost Town which has good food options! The hosts are also very kind, friendly, and helpful with anything you need, you can tell making this experience was a labor of love for them. I cannot imagine a better stay . If there is availability - book now! This is a place that will go fast because everyone is soon to realize what a gem this. Helpful notes: The turn-in to the site is easy to miss, thankfully there's a turn around spot really close but what helped us was realizing the turn in is right before(parallel) 75 speed limit sign. Also they have a working shower which is wonderful! The bottom however is just stones, so be sure to bring some kind of shoe you can get wet . Bare feet on those is not pleasant haha !"

- "Property management was exceptional. Fast responses and gave me alerts. Thank you!" - "This was a very unique place that we have ever stayed at. The location was easy to get to and check in process was easy. We enjoyed our stay and wished we could have stayed longer. The hammock on the porch was a plus. Parking was not to easy but it was ok. " - "I can’t imagine there’s a better spot to stay for a trip to Big Bend. Location was perfect for trips to the park and star gazing at night. The A frame was a great size and set up perfectly. The exterior has multiple seating areas set up on each side of the cottage. The hosts did a great job of giving information that was helpful for the drive to town, and for the stay once you go there. I highly recommend staying here."

Fossil Knob Ridge - Buena Suerte House: Relax is Style at this Ultra-Modern Container Home Near Terlingua Ghost Town
THIS LISTING IS FOR THE BUENA SUERTE HOUSE AT FOSSIL KNOB RIDGE.
The Buena Suerte House is an ultra-modern home built from a recycled 40’ shipping container. Custom designed to create a comfortable living space.
- "We really enjoyed the tastefully appointed space and the outdoor patio. Beautiful views. We’d certainly stay again!" - "Hubby & I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here a few weeks back. Perfect quiet location with breathtaking views of Big Bend National Park with the amazing sunsets each evening. Next time we come down, we won't even consider staying anywhere else as this container home had everything one needs for relaxing each evening & the property management was very informative for what we needed for our stay as well as how to get here. Thank you for a wonderful Vacay!"

There is a full kitchen with a cooktop, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, sink, slice toaster, air fryer/toaster oven, electric kettle, and pour-over coffee maker. We provide pots, pans, utensils, and cutlery.
The washroom has a shower, marble vanity, and a wall-mounted toilet. We provide a hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, and lotion.
There is a charcoal BBQ grill next to your A-frame.
If we do find out you brought a pet (which we almost always do when guests try to break the rules), there will be $199 extra cleaning fee and any damage by the pet will also be charged to your card.
Interaction with Guests:
Please send a message in the app. We will respond promptly. If you don't get a response in 30 mins, feel free to call us

**May-Oct. is our HOT SEASON. Temps can get in the 100s during the day and not cool off much at night until the wee hours of the morning. During June - Sept., the temps have gotten as high as 113. Water intake needs to be doubled most of the Hot season, and short hikes, with time in the shade, are best. NO AIR CONDITIONING AVAILABLE. NO WATER OR ELECTRICITY. THE SOLAR PANEL IN PIC IS NOT WORKING AT THIS TIME.
Let me tell you about Mesa Vista. (Read the reviews. People love this place.)
IT'S CAMPING WITH A BEDROOM!!
Lots of stars, blazing sunsets and sunrises, quiet...
Mesa Vista is located in one of the last "dark sky" designated areas. There is no light pollution and it's not uncommon to see the Milky Way on moonless nights.
Mesa Vista is a tiny 10' x 15' off-the-grid cabin located in Big Bend Valley. It's a rustic, small, wooden one-room cabin with lots and a small porch.
A short walk away is the water-free toilet building, big enough for one person at a time, and the outdoor 5 gallon camping solar water bag shower. There is a queen-sized bed with memory foam mattress (NO BEDDING PROVIDED), a metal table with shelf, 2 bedside tables, and a couple of chairs. There is a queen-sized memory foam mattress (NO BEDDING PROVIDED) in one loft which is accessed by a permanent wooden ladder. This loft is not suitable for young children. The other loft is good for storage.
Mesa Vista is NOT AIR-CONDITIONED. There is a small, portable propane heater available which heats the cabin comfortably. There is NO ELECTRICITY at the cabin. NO WATER.
We have a "Bring Your Own" format which includes a "Clean for the Next Guest" policy. You must leave the property in clean, rentable condition and HAUL OUT YOUR TRASH, including TOILET BUCKET TRASH. You review depends on this. We ask you to let us know what kind of condition the property was in when you arrived so that we can rate the previous guest. This way we keep our rates low.
*UPDATE - CLEANING DURING COVID - You will need to sanitize high touch surfaces like door knobs, table tops and bathroom counter/toilet top area before you leave.
Outside, there is a cooking and 'hang out" area with a table and 2 chairs. Relax with the beverage of your choice and watch the sunset reflect off of the mountains or watch the stars at night. 9 Point Mesa, Black Hill, Red Bluff and the Christmas Mountains are all in view from the comfy front porch.
There is a rock fire pit for use when there is no wind or burn ban.
WATERLESS TOILET
This is similar to a port-a-potty, except you will place compost material (we provide) into the trash-bag-lined toilet bucket after each use. You provide trash bags for 5 gallon bucket.
During clean up at the end of your stay you will empty contents of the bucket and get it ready for the next guest with a trash bag and scoops of compost. We will send instructions in your Airbnb messages.

You'll have the run of the cabin area, the porch, and the five acres of Big Bend beauty, as well as thousands of acres to visually enjoy. All land you see is private property. Feel free to hike the desert roads and explore Big Bend Valley. As long as you stay on the road, you'll be fine.
About once a year we get a heavy rain of such magnitude that you can't drive on the dirt roads.
This area is in a designated dark-sky area. At night there is no light pollution (or cell tower or power line radiation) so the stars are close and huge.
The outdoor (solar) shower and toilet are in a separate area nearby.
Note: we are about 3 miles from Hwy 118 in the Chihuahua desert. There is desert wildlife- snakes, javelinas, jack rabbits, fluffy bunnies, coyotes. In the 10 years we lived out here, we've seen 2 rattlesnakes.
At night, you may get to hear a concert by the coyotes. They're shy and you probably won't see them, but their singing is pretty amazing.
Other things to note
We're 52 miles from the nearest doctor/hospital in Alpine. Terlingua does have an EMS service that is 30 miles away.
NO smoking in the cabin or on the property. No exceptions.
Dogs must NOT be left in the cabin without you. No exceptions.
NO cats allowed.
The dirt roads to the cabin have no street signs or lights, so you might want to show up during the daylight hours.
The main road to the cabin is marked with concrete pyramids- after you book, we'll send you complete and detailed instructions.
Keep and eye on the weather forecasts. We use Wunderground, Terlingua, under Terllingua, change location to Jackass Flats

This is a spot with RV hook ups in the Terlingua Ghost Town, within walking distance to everything the Ghost Town has to offer. There is a communal bathroom to use on the property. This is a 30 amp site. Please no paper down your RV's toilet, (septic gets plugged up) or any of our toilets on the compound. We have bidets on all of our toilets. We have had a 45'er in that spot, but it was very tight getting turned around etc. , better for 30' or less. We are in Terlingua Ghost Town.
The space
This space is for a 30 ft or less trailer....difficult to turn around otherwise. It is also a 30 amp site.

We have a communal bathroom with a shower as well. All toilets on the compound have bidets as well.

The site provides water, sewer (please no TP in your toilet or any of ours), we do have bidets, and 30 amp electricity.

An apartment style motel room centrally located near the entrance to the Big Bend National Park and about 5 miles to the center of Terlingua Ghost town. Located off a paved main road, easily accessible for any vehicle type and within walking distance to some of the main businesses and restaurants in town. NOTE during our busier seasons, the internet may lag some. Also, this is an older building, and the walls are thin. Please be aware of this before booking and considerate of neighbors.
The space
Room 2 is between Room 1 and 3. This is an older apartment, so the walls are thinner. Ear plugs are provided and the guests in the surrounding rooms are informed to be respectful of our other guests. I’m making sure it is noted that this is an older apartment building. It’s not fancy but clean and has good water and ac. Summer is obviously very hot and we do have pop up thunderstorms which can disrupt electricity. The air conditioner works but when it’s over 100 degrees it can struggle to keep the room cool below 70. Please note this when booking in the summers. Wi-Fi is available using the cafes network and this property is in town with cell service but advised that if you’re here to work the internet might not be acceptable for your needs

The entire room is yours!
Other things to note
Please note:
we are on a septic system. Some people aren't familiar with this style of system. Care should be taken with what is flushed in commode. There are times when the power or water may have interrupted service. This is out of our control and no refunds will be issued if this occurs. We live in an area without city conveniences, that's part of the charm. WIFI can be spotty. Our system can be overloaded at times due to busy season.

The Bodega is an amazing off grid RV perfect for stargazing, adventurous, nature lovers!
This isn't for the faint of heart. We have a great setup, but trouble shooting may arise. You are essentially "camping". There's a set up process w/ detailed instructions to make your stay comfortable.
The space
We are about 45 minutes to Terlingua Ghost town & 55 minutes to the Big Bend National Park entrance. However, we are tucked away from heavily traveled roads and highways. Located in between Big Bend National Park and Big Bend State Park. This makes it a special and unique get away for you, your family and friends.
Our property offers the perfect blend of scenic views and serenity without the disruption of noise or traffic.
Embrace the off-grid charm alongside modern amenities, making it an ideal destination for those seeking a serene retreat in the heart of nature.
It is VERY important that our guests understand while the roads are pretty well maintained, roads change due to weather conditions and there will be bumps and steep inclines/declines. It is doable in a 2WD HIGH CLEARANCE vehicle (we highly recommend a truck/SUV), but if you have 4WD/high clearance capabilities, that is highly recommended.
We also encourage and recommend our guests get to the property before dark (especially for the first time visit) as you are going off grid and you won’t have light until you get to The Bodega and get it set up.
Please understand that it takes time to get to town and back out. Ideally, a typical itinerary for the day would be to go out, enjoy Big Bend and Terlingua adventures, enjoy amazing local restaurants and return to The Bodega, ready to relax and enjoy the peace, solitude and nighttime mountain views.

Hey guys, this listing is for camping space as well as the indoor unit which has one full-size bed and a narrow couch.

The space
Guest access
You will be given the door code to enter your unit. You have access to the entire container home, the outside seating, the fire pit, and the clubhouse. Please stay on the walkways and don't wander off the walkways or near other cabins to give everyone their privacy.
Other things to note
Please specify the correct number of people when booking.
Pets are not allowed. If we do find out you brought a pet (which we almost always do when guests try to break the rules), there will be $199 extra cleaning fee and any damage by the pet will also be charged to your card.

While visiting with us, please feel free to explore the immediate vicinity surrounding the bar and bungalows. There are ruins to investigate, a rustic fire ring, and campground style charcoal grill available.
The often open north facing door at the back of the bar accesses the employee area. Please visit us at the bar, 4:20 till closing, Wednesday through Sunday! Guests will pass the front entrance of the bar as they access the bungalow parking area.
Other things to note
Our property is nestled right in the heart of Terlingua Ghost Town nightlife! We even have food vendors on site during bar hours! The Boathouse is within walking distance of several other bars, restaurants, galleries, coffee shops, and a gift shop. If meeting locals and other travelers while listening to talented musicians and enjoying a beverage after a day of adventure is your style, come stay with us!

Off grid and eco-friendly, yet only 7 miles from Big Bend National Park, our glass front casitas are the perfect place for you or your group to unplug, unwind, and reconnect to what matters. Your space and privacy are our number one goal, and the three cabins are adequately spaced so you can enjoy unobstructed mountain views to the north, east and south, and sunset views deep into Mexico to the west, with no other dwellings in site!
The space
Each of the adorable tiny cabins, Ipo, Medina, and Stoney Brook, have identical furnishings, sleep two comfortably on queen beds and sit on an elevated deck with large covered porch and outdoor camp kitchen with plenty of room for coolers and gear. We provide a Yeti 45 cooler, drinking water, cooking and eating utensils, and a coffee and tea bar, but you will want to bring your own cooking oils and spices.
We are an off-grid property, but you'll camp in comfort with insulated walls and windows, radiant heating, plush linens and dish service...because camp cooking is fun, camp dish duty is not.
Inside you'll find a queen bed with down comforter, chairs, luggage rack and a small buffet.
Outside on the covered porch, you'll cook meals camp style on the Carolina Cooker propane stove with cast iron cookware then step over to the fire pit for smores under the moonlight...howling is encouraged.
We can provide quality firewood for an additional fee.
We are in a designated dark sky area with some of the brightest stargazing in the lower 48, so all lighting is minimal. We have ample solar lighting inside the cabin and under the porch, but we recommend headlamps for outdoor excursions.
Medina, Ipo and Stony Brook share a spotlessly clean composting toilet and have access to the community outdoor shower. Water is a scarce and expensive commodity for desert communities, so please help us cut down on usage by keeping shower times to a minimum and bringing your own shower towels.
If your group is in the mood for a BBQ, let us know and we can drop off a charcoal grill!
We're not trying to be a glamping resort, we just want to give you or your group the privacy, comfort and space you deserve, so check our reviews and book now as these go fast!
Please remember that these cabins are off-grid and do not have air conditioning. They do have ventilation fans for the warmer spring months.
Guest access
The casitas are 1/4 mile off the highway on a maintained dirt road and assessable by any passenger vehicle. High clearance or 4WD is not necessary.
*Please note: As with most properties on dirt roads in the area, heavy rains can render the roads impassable for hours to days. We have a dry creek crossing that can flash flood, but it is usually cleared up within hours after the rain. Luckily, our booking season does not coincide with the rainy season, so heavy rains during travel season are rare, but can happen. If there is moderate rain, we ask that guests hunker down until it has passed. If we anticipate severe rain during your stay, we will reach out to discuss options before you arrive.
Other things to note
Please contact us if you have a large group or small event and would like to book the entire property.
We are an off-grid desert property, and cabins are on solar power, so realistic expectations are important. Our amenities are high quality and comfortable, but they are limited, so some of the comforts of home or other resorts are not available. All water is hauled onto site, so if long showers and a curated hotel or glamping experience are your cup of tea, we get it, there are other grid-tied options nearby! Our goal is to provide you with an experience we like to call “comfort camping.” A little bit of luxury and lot of space and privacy. To insure this, we only have 5 tent sites on 160 acres. But we also live on site, so we’re always only a text or call away!
