Come enjoy the peace and quiet of the Texas Hill Country, while relaxing in the cool waters of the Dry Frio River. This cabin is nestled under a canopy of live oak trees and just a short walk to the river. The Dry Frio River gets its name from the fact that the spring fed river meanders under the rocks at times, giving the appearance of a dry creek bed. This means the water is always cold, even in the hot summer months!
The air conditioned cabin has a simple, rustic feeling. The family room has high ceilings with comfy leather sofa and loveseat. The fully equipped kitchen has an electric stove, oven, microwave, coffee maker, and plenty of cookware. The cozy master bedroom has a stone fireplace and a queen-size bed, with room for a portable crib if needed. The spacious bathroom has a lovely clawfoot bathtub/shower. There is loft area with two full-size beds and a beautiful view of the huge live oak trees.
Outside there is ample seating on the covered porch and around the fire-pit. A charcoal grill is available for those outdoor cook-outs. Just down the road, a short walk, is a community park area with a covered pavilion and outdoor activities. Wi-Fi is also available at the park area.
This is a great place for star gazing, hiking, fishing, swimming, nature watching, unwinding and making memories.

The Bunkhouse has a welcoming cozy feel and was designed to accommodate our two kids and our 7 grandkids. Both bedrooms have a full bath, are cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The covered deck is large and accommodating with ample seating, a well-equipped kitchen area, and a breakfast table. The yard space is shaded most of the year with our pecan trees. There is also a charcoal BBQ pit, two picnic tables, and a firepit. As you can see in the pics, we built the Bunkhouse onto our barn. We still have a few miniature horses around, a few dwarf goats(we drink the milk!) and some random chickens, dogs, and cats. They won't bother you, but are available to see if you would like "the tour".
Swimming the full one mile of our river is a unique adventure. We have the Blue Hole, the Emerald Pot, the Slip & Slide, and let's not forget the Katfish Kitchens. We will have a map to guide you along the river!
The Bunkhouse area is entirely yours, with plenty of parking area for your vehicle(s). If interested in seeing or participating, we still have some goats and chickens around the barn that need daily attention from us. Our house is nearby, but we are available if needed. Access to the river amounts to one full mile of both sides of our river(the Dry Frio). You will be able to walk up or down the river, look for fossils, or hang out at one of our favorite swimming spots. Bring your floats, lots of guests use their "pop-ups" and make a home base where they are hanging out.
We are very remote! It is 35 miles to Uvalde, the closest grocery store. Be sure and bring the food you want to eat and any other supplies you want on your stay here. Fill up your gas tank in your vehicle before you arrive. It is 18 miles to Concan, the closest convenience store. Leakey and Uvalde are both about 35 miles from the Bunkhouse!

Pets are allowed with prior approval and EACH pet will require a $50 pet fee.{1 pet-$50 pet fee, 2 pets-$100 pet fee, 3 pets-$150 pet fee.) Pets must be housebroken and well behaved. Pets are not allowed to roam freely out of the owner's sight.
We do have a large carrier that we keep on the porch for your pets (and your) enjoyment.

We will make driving instructions and access information available a week before your arrival. GPS instructions seem to work if you plug in our address, but just in case, we will send instructions via email.

The house is surrounded by live oak and pecan trees with a little deck leading down to a rock patio.

We have a fire pit as well as an outdoor grill.

700 Sq ft of living space, 1 queen-size bed ,1 twin and 2 fold out sofas. Fully-equipped kitchen, full size four burner electric range with oven, microwave, refrigerator, toaster, blender, pots and pans, eating utensils, plates and glasses....Fully equipped!

The cottage has A/C and heating as well as a cozy wood burning stove. (bring your own wood), Ceiling fans in every room. The bathroom is fully-equipped as well. We provide sheets and towels.

Just a short walk to the crystal clear river. Fishing, swimming and wading for the little ones. It's common to find fossils while exploring along and in the river. Wonderful hiking and bike riding throughout the ranch.

The cabin is REMOTE. We are 35 miles from a grocery store, 18 miles from gasoline and convenience food. Bring everything you will need. Fill up your gas tank in Uvalde, Leakey, or Sabinal.

At night the stars are like millions of diamonds in the sky. Come and enjoy the stargazing I know you will! Hummingbird and Butterfly watching opportunities!

The Treehouse has spectacular views of the Nueces River and hills. The sunrises are amazing! The Treehouse offers an abundance of outdoor living space. It has a large deck with oversized chairs to enjoy the view and the breeze, while the underneath area boasts a full bath, bar, kitchenette, swing, and hammock, all for your enjoyment. Off to the side, you will find a playhouse for the little ones, a BBQ pit, and a fire pit area with chairs for cooking s'mores and cozying up on those cool Texas nights. This Treehouse has a master bedroom with a queen bed, a loft with two queen beds, a full bath, a kitchen, and a living area. It has lots of glass to enjoy the view inside and out! This cabin has everything you need to enjoy your stay. The river is excellent for swimming, fishing, snorkeling, or kayaking. Bird watching, biking, hiking, and hunting are popular in this area. Watching wildlife in the mornings or star gazing at night this place won't disappoint.
It is located 30 miles north of Uvalde and about 10 miles south of Camp Wood. In this area AT&T cell service works well, I have been told Verizon doesn't, so you might want to check about service in the area before you come if you don't have AT&T.

If you plan on having any day visitors, you must get prior approval through email or text; if prior authorization is not received, they will not be allowed. Only up to 4 DAY visitors are permitted during your stay. Each visitor, no matter the age, will cost $25/person per day of visiting. Visiting hours are only from 8 am - 8 pm. We have the right to refuse or remove any visitors at any time!

The list of NOs:—No parking on the grass, No ATVs, No Fireworks, No pets, No smoking inside(if you smoke outside, put all butts in the trash to avoid being charged), No littering, No loud music, No glass containers in or near the river, No discharge of firearms, No offensive language or behavior, Fires only in firepits and bbq pits.

This property is surely the best place to unwind & relax. The property has an area with a swing set & trampoline for small children to play, with supervision, of course. The downtown shops & restaurants of the quaint small town of Uvalde are a 20minute drive from the property. Not that you would need to go elsewhere from here, but if you wanted to take a drive to visit surrounding areas, the Concan/ Frio River area is a 40-minute drive, Garner State Park is a 45-50 minute drive, the Campwood Dam is upriver & about a 20-minute drive and Park Chalk Bluff is down river and a 5–10-minute drive.
* If & when there hasn't been enough rain in our region the river directly in front of the property gets pretty shallow, but there is a spring-fed area just a 5-7minute walk up the river that never runs dry & perfect for swimming. There are 3 photos available to view this area (small white diving board & small children running up).

This little casita is located in the beautiful town of Uvalde Texas. Lots of eats near by and unique downtown shops.
So. I’m gonna be really honest here.. We bought our home with this little casita in the back yard in July of 2021. We did a fixer upper on the inside of the main house where we currently live. We have done some work in the backyard but it’s definitely not finished and still rough around the edges. We gave the casita a fresh coat of paint inside and replaced the bathroom floor. We do not have television. We DO have WiFi. We have many dreams for both the backyard and casita but at this point do not have the funds to continue.. we will update as we can!
We have a friendly golden retriever (Paz) that will probably be around during your stay but she sleeps inside our house at night. You will also see our kitty (Zeus) during your stay as well. You will have access to a fire pit and a bbq wood grill.
The casita is clean and neat but nothing fancy. The “kitchen” has a two burner stove, a mini fridge and a sink. A queen sized bed and a small bathroom. You can park in our driveway and enter the casita through the gate into the back yard.
My husband is self employed at ARP automotive and I am a stay at home mom to our baby girl.. We will keep to ourselves as much as possible.. We would love to host you!

Well equipped kitchen offers essential appliances for easy meal prep, including electric stove/oven, microwave, full size refrigerator, & coffee maker (as well as a French Press depending on your preference). Cupboards are well stocked with dishes and glassware. Or bring your charcoal and cook out on the grill.

Our cabin offers an amazing outdoor space to enjoy day or night. Choose between the large, fully furnished back porch or the incredible firepit area complete with comfortable chairs and picnic table. The Dry Frio River is just a short hike or quick drive down the gravel road from the cabin.

Loma Linda is perfect for singles, couples, or a small family. Children should be old enough to safely navigate the stairs if sleeping in the loft.

PLEASE NOTE: We make an effort to provide all of the cabin essentials to make for an amazing stay, but it is very important that you plan well and bring any groceries, charcoal, and personal supplies that you need for your vacation as the Frio Cielo Ranch is a remote location (which is probably why you booked your trip here in the first place!). The closest stores are in Concan, about 25 minutes away.

Remember this is a beautiful and rural location in the middle of nature. Given that fact, please don't be surprised to see deer, rabbits, and other amazing wildlife but also remember to be aware of Texas critters, and other hazards that can be present in a natural environment.

Note that you will likely not have cell service at the ranch. We do provide Wifi, but plan accordingly for lack of cell service.

Casa Rio is an open-concept tiny house that sleeps 5 in total(but only four adults). The bed is king-size with a sleeper sofa for the little one. The second bedroom has one queen bed. It has one full bath with a walk-in shower and a small kitchen area with a 2-burner stove top, coffee top, and a microwave. A small sink and small refrigerator. There is a bar to eat at.

Rio Escondido Properties is a multi-dwelling property that offers river access and a common area with a swing set, picnic table, and horseshoe pit.

You never know what wildlife you might see: whitetail deer, axis deer, raccoons, armadillos, and more. Go for a walk around the property or on County Road 411. Go to County Road 412, turn right, go to the water crossing, and tube to Rio Escondido. It's a short but relaxing float.

Rio Escondido won't disappoint with its breathtaking views, crystal clear river, and a great place to unwind, enjoy and relax.

Renter Responsibilities

During your stay:
DO NOT BRING MORE PEOPLE THAN ARE ALLOWED IN YOUR UNIT OR THAT YOU SAID WAS COMING; they will be asked to leave! If you plan on having any day visitors, you must get prior approval through email or text; if prior authorization is not received, they will not be allowed. Only up to 4 visitors are allowed during your stay. Each visitor, no matter the age, will cost $25/person per day of visiting. Visiting hours are only from 8 am - 8 pm. We have the right to refuse or remove any visitors at any time!

To reduce visits by insects and rodents, please wipe up food spills and store food and trash properly—no parking on the grass. No ATVs and No Fireworks!

At the end of your stay, to avoid being charged!

*Empty refrigerator of any food items(charge will vary)

If that’s the normal maybe just list to bring extras if needed?? But overall the cabin was exactly what we needed for a river front home. If you're looking to escape the hustle and bustle of big city The Lodge at Lightning Bug Springs is the perfect destination; 15 acres of beautiful property nestled along the banks of the Dry Frio. Don't let the name "Dry" fool you, though. There is a swimming hole just steps away. The property offers a swimming pool, hiking, a large fire pit, a volleyball net, tire swings, horse shoes, soccer goals and large shade trees for enjoying nature. In the evening watch the sun set while the deer graze in the field.

The Lodge offers 3 bedrooms; 1 King, and 2 Queens with 2 full bathrooms. It has a fully equipped kitchen with a full size refrigerator, range top oven, microwave, dishwasher, and coffee pot. It has a living room with two couches and two chairs. The dining area has a large dining table for 6.
The home has central air & heat, washer & dryer and a smart tv.

The Lodge is far enough from the noise of the main river to experience a peaceful retreat, but just minutes from Concan and its quaint restaurants, quirky shops or to float the Frio.
