- "The ranch and facilities are amazing and a fun place to be. The hosts Raina and Kyle gave us a ranch tour of the 2000 acres, seeing elk, sika, oryx and lots of other game. The lodge is huge with a full commercial kitchen and plenty of room and super clean. My rock band had a recording session there and Kyle played the guitar and Raina sang with us- a great time. Mountain View Lodge lies on the western edge of the scenic Texas Hill Country, offering spectacular views and sunsets--great for gatherings large or small. This modern, 2-story (2,400 sq ft) lodge is along crystal-clear, spring-fed Pulliam creek (Middle Prong of the Nueces River), which is ideal for swimming, tubing, and snorkeling. A 5-ft-deep swimming hole is at the lodge. Nearby is a large natural spring.

The Lodge sits high above the creek with a lovely, panoramic mountain view. The area is Nueces Canyon, home to many species of birds and other wildlife. The Lodge is located 6 miles north of Camp Wood and 28 miles west of Leakey, near Barksdale, on a 23-acre ranch.

No other place can match the breath-taking view, serenity and seclusion of the Lodge. Hike up and down the river for miles. Hike the 23 acre pasture and county roads. There's a very friendly donkey in the pasture who will love you forever if you give him a salty snack! Other goats & sheep are by his side.

Accommodations: Upstairs (main living area) has 2 bedrooms with king-sized beds sleeping 4 people. Downstairs are recreational accommodations and beds for 8 people. Additionally, there are 3 very comfortable foam pads, pillows & bedding for 3 more. Total of 12 people on beds; 15 when including foam pads. (SEE CAPTIONS UNDER PICTURES FOR BED ARRANGEMENTS.)

About 200 ft in front of the house is a fire pit dug into the ground, lined with rocks. There's a water hose nearby for safety. Scavenge the 23 acres for plenty of firewood. Roasting forks are there, too, by the BBQ pit on the downstairs porch.

There are large living areas upstairs and downstairs with a southwestern decor. The main living area is upstairs, which includes a large kitchen/dining area, a living room, and two bedrooms. Downstairs is an entertainment area and 2 more bedrooms. A door separates the two lower bedrooms for privacy. (All four bedrooms have doors for privacy.) Each level has a fireplace and a full bath.

Large decks on both levels provide majestic hill country views and a comfortable setting for relaxation. (See pictures for outdoor chairs and tables for each.) The fully equipped kitchen includes a microwave and a dishwasher. The downstairs deck includes a barbecue grill for outdoor cooking. Also downstairs are a washer and dryer.

There are 4 entrances to the house so people can go in and out without disturbing others. Two entrances are upstairs via two large staircases on two opposite sides of the house. Then, 2 entrances downstairs; one main entrance and another on the opposite side of the house via the downstairs porch where the BBQ pit is located.

Weather conditions: It is not just summertime that's great in the Hill Country. Fall, spring, and even winter are some of the most wonderful weather days. The water source for the Lodge is from a well tapped into the nearby spring aquifer--an extra treat. It's processed through a water softener just to remove the hardness and is really great quality water--classic Hill Country.

Located about 20 miles northwest of Junction Texas on the Belvedere Ranch. A Ranch that has been in the family for over 110 years and is one of a few ranches in Texas owned by the same family for over 100 years.
Property is on a gravel / dirt "road" just over 3 miles long. Light truck or SUV highly recommended.

Recommend good shoes to walk down and enjoy but loved the water. On our second day, we took the 20 min. Drive into town to go to the Llano State Park for the South Llano River and found a beautiful spot to walk in and post a few chairs and swim! Our pups enjoyed the property and cabin area, they ran and played with plenty of space outside. There is no wifi and we enjoyed it just fine! The stars at night were bright and in the morning we enjoyed our coffee on the porch with the gorgeous view! Will definitely add this property to our future plans and come back again! - "Group of car enthusiasts going for an extended weekend to drive the twisted sisters route. The property is amazing, we saw lots of deer and other animals. No neighbors for miles. The entry road to the property is packed graded caliche and we had no problems with access even with our lowered vehicles. The house was amazing for 8 adults, we all had our own beds. You could definitely fit more people but I suppose that’s up to the owner and they may want to limit guests to reduce mess/issues. The pictures don’t do it justice. The kitchen is well stocked with plates, cups, pots, pans, basic seasonings, dish soap, and cooking utensils. There is a charcoal grill and also fire pit with a grate. Air conditioning was ice cold with separate upstairs and downstairs units. We had good cell reception on the property (but really didn’t need it, just enjoyed hanging out with friends). Excellent stay, we will be back!"

This property was run as a small motel for 50 years by my grandmother, marketed as a "hunter's paradise". We have been slowly renovating the property, and now have four rooms and the Gathering House that are available for select dates. Room #4 consists of two King beds, a bathroom with a tub and shower, a/c, heat, Keurig coffee maker, microwave, and a mini-refrigerator. We have added 55" TVs, and Wi-Fi is available to our guests! The room has had a "face lift", with new paint and black-out curtains. There is a breezeway right outside the room for you to use, as well as a charcoal barbeque pit.

We are near the Nueces River where you can enjoy fishing, swimming, and kayaking. There are several restaurants in the area, including our onsite coffee shop, Barksdale Coffee Company! It is open Monday-Saturday and offers great breakfast and lunch options, as well as some of the best coffee in the area! There is also the Chicken Coop across the street (open Mon-Wed & Fri only), and some amazing businesses to shop during your stay.

It still retains its vintage charm, but now with really comfortable beds, good air conditioning, and a tiny coffee shop right on the property!" - "Perfect!" - "This was our second time staying here and it won't be our last. Gena has some small but very thoughtful details like a essential oils diffuser and yummy lemon hand soap in the rooms. Within 25 acres of privately-owned property, our cabin and barn sits within walking (or driving) distance of the beautiful river. Guests can enjoy 1000 feet of private river access with both a large lake area and riffles/rapids, making this a great refuge for tubers, kayakers, canoers, fly fishers, and outdoor enthusiasts. This go 'round, we had one small issue and I reached out and the homeowner's were there within an hour to remedy to issue. Extremely responsive with that and when I just had silly questions about the area, even after checkout. Make sure to bring your chairs, kayaks or floats and be ready to just enjoy the quiet privacy their water access provides you!"

- "Our family of five traveled to this beautiful property for the week of Thanksgiving. All of us, from the senior citizens in their mid-80's to the 14 year old girls absolutely fell in love with it. It is a well-loved family ranch/hunting camp on a very large property with all the conveniences of home. If you are looking for something fancy and new, it is not for you. If you are looking for an real place where generations of kids have played, people have cooked delicious meals and eaten them together as a family, and an outdoor experience that cannot be beat, then this is the place for you! The house is of a cabin/camp flavor and is of an older vintage in both age and decor - if you are looking for fancy, look elsewhere. However, there is a big tv, new stove/oven/microwave, excellent climate control, every appliance you might need. The beds are exceptionally comfortable! Water pressure - A+. What cannot be overstated is the incredible beauty of the setting. Just the walk to the river alone is worth the price of admission. There are animals everywhere - deer, rabbits, wild turkeys, doves and more. Along the river you can find fossils, jasper, banded chert for the rock tumbler and more. We had so much fun in the kayaks.
