- "We stayed one night and this hotel was awesome. First, they allow a 11:30 am check in which is rare. We were visiting friends so we dropped bags off and came back late night but it was convenient be able to do so. The room was immaculate and even though the bathrooms are shared, you get the full bathroom to yourself when you use it. The location is great just outside the ferry terminal. It’s very loud at night but we brought earplugs. Most importantly, staff are very friendly and held on to our bags until 2 pm the next day. They also offer coffee, fruits and pastry bites which was unexpected. In conclusion, well worth the money and I highly recommend. "

We are pet friendly andlove dogs, but you MUST ask before booking, as sometimes guests who are very allergic have booked after you and we need to ensure that we provide a safe space for them, too. Our property includes 2 bedrooms (sleeps 5 adults) plus an over sized day bed in the living room (sleeps 6). There is a large deck with plenty of outdoor seating, grill and private outdoor shower. Upon request the second bedroom will be converted into a king size bed (see photos) The great room is perfect for dining and entertaining. This beach home is meticulously clean and fully stocked. There are very few rentals in the area that will live up to your expectations. This one will!

The kitchen is completely renovated and includes a brand new subzero refrigerator, top of the line new stainless steel appliances including a hot water tap pot filler over the stove. Fully stocked with plenty of plates, cups, cutlery and cooking utensils and accessories. The bedrooms were also renovated and include new beds, pillows, linens, bath and beach towels.

The location is at the edge of town, on the main street and normally fairly quiet, but Ocean Beach is a bustling summer community. Expect to hear occasional noise from nearby homes, businesses and streets.

- "A friend and I rented the upper level of this lovely, Cherry Grove house. The house is right on the beach, set back with small pines and Dunedin the foreground and spectacular ocean views in the background - and visible from every room. We fell asleep and woke up to the sounds of the ocean surf and birdsong. We enjoyed meals on the outdoor deck, also with a view of the ocean. The house is well-appointed, with cheery decor, a fully stocked kitchen, extremely comfortable beds, satellite tv, internet, and central a/c (a rarity). (As an aside, this was probably the cleanest house we’ve ever rented.) We loved the open-plan layout of the living room, kitchen and dining area. The high ceilings and wrap-around windows take full advantage of the light and nature outside. The house was private enough to feel like a sanctuary, yet close enough to the best restaurants, shops, and town life when we wanted that. Cindy was extremely accommodating and responsive, whenever we had questions. We would definitely stay here again."

Cherry Grove is a unique and quaint location. Accessible only by a ferry "The Grove" offers luchest foliage, miles of endless beaches, and elevated boardwalks. Our house is only a 5 minute walk from the ferry and heart of town where you will find amazing restaurants, bars, ice cream shop, pizza, grocery, and liquor store. Take the beach chairs and umbrellas that we provide and walk 2 minutes to the beach. It is the perfect location to be away from the loud night life but close enough to walk to should you desire. Our house is a duplex, however, you have the entire upstairs to yourselves! Inside the gate you will find a large outdoor patio that is great for sunbathing and unwinding with private (non-shared) hot tub, outdoor lounge chairs, BBQ grill and an outdoor table and chairs with umbrella. When you walk in through the sliding glass door you are met with a cozy living, eat-in kitchen space, and kitchen, all with brand new flooring. In the living room is wood burning stove that can be utilized in the off season (April and May and September and October) to take the chill out. The living room has a TV with a fire stick for streaming. There is an air conditioner in this shared space for the in-season months.
The kitchen is complete with a refrigerator, stove, and all the basic cooking pots, pans, and utensils that you will need to cook. a home cooked meal. Walk into the hallway from the main area and you will find two bedrooms at opposite sides of the house. The first bedroom has a double bed, closet with ample closet space, TV, air conditioning, and ceiling fan. A very LGBTQ area! All coexist joyously :) Pines Historical Society or self celebrity/history house tour (I have map) is really interesting. Lighthouse and many historical sights exist along the island with map on sign in harbor!!! Great wildlife, birdwatching and Monarch butterfly invasion. Large turtle pond at west end of Fire Island Boulevard to right of bench. Nearby Sunken Forest is beautiful and a great group outing! 25min mappable sightseeing, dining, drinking & shopping walks to Cherry Grove a must!! Floyds for breakfast till noon!! 5min/$10 water taxi is a blast from in front of pantry! Beach pick-up volleyball is crazy fun! Lots of umbrellas, chairs, cabana, beach games and towels provided. Pizza shop and Pantry sandwiches & salad case for value eats!! Bistro for fine dining. Take the Googlable "The Great Gay Garden Tour Fire Island Pines" self-guided with downloadable current map or walk by highlight garden on Midway walk at Beach Hill walk.

Our rooms are extremely well priced compared to our competition but the Pines because it’s seasonal & close to NYC is very expensive.

1. Our rooms are rustic not slick.
2. We are not a luxury hotel just a guest house.
3. Because of the wood construction walls are not soundproof.
4. The photos make the room seem larger.
5. There is access to a small communal kitchenette by appointment.

The room is cozy at 286 sq. Including bath. ft. total [please look at plan] Ft total. There are exposed wooden beams in the ceiling. The ceiling height is 8' . The bathroom has a frosted glass indoor window.

*There is a sink, fridge, microwave & coffee maker, tableware, cooking supplies in the pantry kitchen. There is also a private portable cooktop & toaster oven for each room that you can use in the stove room (or in a covered communal designated area by appointment. The room has AC & portable heaters are available. There are also DVD players & IPads for rainy days.

You'll have full access to the kitchen, with space in the fridge and cabinets set aside just for your stuff, a big living room, a dining room, two shared bathrooms, outdoor shower and huge deck for outdoor dining. Most families who stay here end up eating semi-together, taking turns at the stove and sometimes even sharing dishes. More often than not, the kids band together to paint seashells, and everyone wanders over to the dock for sunset, grown-ups with grown-up drinks in hand. Sometimes families go to the beach together, and sometimes everyone does his/her own thing. And don't forget Wednesday night movies at the fire house!

Rainy days are still fun -- those mean Sea Girt library or stay at home to use the years-collected movies, puzzles and games.

During your stay
Guests interact with each other a lot. You are taking just one bedroom in a four-bedroom house, unless you decide to rent more than one. But on the other hand, you can completely do your own thing and no one will mind!

Other things to note
We do offer shorter stays of just two nights starting three weeks before an open date -- until that point, we have a minimum stay of five nights. This rental is not for everyone -- it's a homey, communal place to lay your head and maybe make some family friends. Make sure you understand the sharing nature of The Big Yellow House before you commit!

It is secured with an automatic gate that is opened with your private code and a fence going around the entire perimeter. Between the vast deck, pool deck and roof top deck there is plenty of space to find a quiet area and relax , read or talk on the phone. Most guests enjoy getting to know each other hanging out in our beautiful pool or you can spend time with friends in the main house in the kitchen, dining room or living room. There you can have drinks, cook, bbq eat and just enjoy each other’s company!

The home is an A-Frame house which is about 1500 sq feet inside and has two outdoor decks one out back one above the house. It is located in Ocean Beach, NY, 4 houses from the Atlantic Ocean, less than a 2 minute walk to the beach. We remodeled the home a few years ago and there are views of the ocean from the upper deck. The bathrooms offer great amenities such a Kohler Rain Shower to Jacuzzi tub/shower. It is a 10 minute walk into town where all the restaurants/shops and bars are located.

The space
Recently remodeled and expanded living room with new colors, new 42x16 air conditioner in the living room keeps house cool on hot days. You have 4 bedrooms, nice outdoor deck outside with outdoor shower and a deck above the house with views of the Atlantic Ocean. Recently added new lounge chairs for the outdoor deck.

CLEANING SERVICES during your stay – Dune Point staff will not enter your unit during your stay. You will be provided with towels, linens, toiletries for the duration of your stay.
