Our home has 1930's cottage charm - roomy, very clean, neat and well appointed for your comfort & privacy. With several outdoor dining and private lounging areas and decks, there is plenty of room throughout the property for guests and their friends to eat, chill and relax together or privately.

Our cottage is very conveniently located on the Great South Bay and bay beach, a one minute walk to the ferry and small town (which has a convenience store, a food market, pizza and ice cream shops, & the doctor’s office), and a 3 minute walk to the ocean beach. The cottage is far enough away to maintain quiet and privacy.

Summer on Fire Island is truly paradise. The ocean is warm, the weather is perfect, the sunrises and sunsets are spectacular, the fish are jumping, the surf is sensational, clamming, wind surfing, sailing and boating are exceptional activities, the summer residents are cool, and life is beautiful.. As you can see, I love it here and spend a lot of my time in this paradise.

Fair Harbor is one of the friendliest, laid-back Fire Island communities, hosting the best restaurant and social sunset gatherings on the dock every evening.

Our home is perfect for a quiet vacation with family or friends. It is secluded with foliage, privacy and the rhythm of the waves and the music of the birds. The house has a beautiful front deck to enjoy your morning coffee and newspaper. It also has a large private back deck to linger over a quiet dinner with family and friends. An outdoor umbrella is shared under the canopy of a large Oak tree.

The interior of the home has been renovated to complete detail. The living room includes a very comfortable sofa with rattan club chairs. The indoor dining area provides a table and chairs or if you prefer, use it as a large desk. There are two bedrooms in the house with a Sofa and a Large cottage on the back deck. There is a full bath in the house and a half bath in the cottage. Bedroom #1 has a Queen Size bed with a Flat Screen TV, A/C and ceiling fan. Bedroom #2 has a Bunk Bed with an A/C, Flat Screen & a TV. In addition, there is a Glorious Outdoor Shower on the Back Deck. The kitchen is stainless and white with butcher block and granite counters. The home is also well equipped with a Weber Gas Grill, Bikes and a large wagon (including beach chairs and beach umbrellas.) This vacation story completes a rare and perfect union. Our little house built in 1925 is perfect for a quiet vacation... or a writer's retreat. Our home, secluded by dense foliage, gives privacy and silence that is only punctuated by the music of the changing tides and the birds' call. We are the second house from the beach -- roll out of the bed and into the ocean!
Seaview is a quiet family community with lifeguards, kiddie pool and bay beach access, free swimming lessons, activities for children, baseball field, playground, tennis courts, and the best market on the island- Seaview Market! 7 minute walk to the ferry. Very close to Ocean Beach with shops and restaurants.
There are 4 bedrooms, all with A/C and overhead fans - 1 queen size bed, 1 full size bed, 2 rooms with 2 single beds. A portable A/C unit is downstairs as well as fans. For those colder months, there is a wood-burning fireplace. There are 1 1/2 baths plus a glorious outside shower.
The kitchen is fully equipped. There is a grill for outside dining on the deck. This is not a rental home, but our family home that we rent out only for a brief period every summer.

If you're looking for a very special summer rental, our charming and cozy 135+ year-old beach house may be just what you’re hoping to find. Located on a beach block in Ocean Beach, it suffered absolutely no damage whatsoever from Hurricane Sandy. A/C in two of the three bedrooms plus the dining room and kitchen. Open stud construction with cathedral ceilings, exposed rafters, and a huge wood-burning fireplace - said to be the largest on the island. Gleaming original wood floors with sand-catching sea grass carpeting in the living and dining rooms. Sleeps 7 but 5 more comfortably. We even leave our spices and staples for tenants plus paper goods, cleaning/laundry supplies, and other basic household necessities.

Back deck has outdoor shower, gas BBQ, teak picnic table, w/ large market umbrella, 4 metal dining chairs, lounge chairs, and clothes line. Side deck has storage for wagons, 4 adult coaster bikes, ample beach chairs, and umbrellas.

Other Amenities:
In addition to those noted above, the cottage has many other amenities such as ceiling fans throughout, a vacuum cleaner, space heaters, portable fans, an ironing board and iron, bedside cube clocks, books, games, puzzles, playing cards, CDs, a CD player, rain slickers, flashlights, and more. We also have a big milk crate wagon for getting your belongings from the ferry to the house.

Everything is just a walk away; 2 minutes to the beach and 5 minutes into town where you will find restaurants and shopping. The town is kid-friendly with a playground and plenty of activities for kids. Everything is brand new in the house—2024 is the first rental season.

Weekly rentals are 6 days Friday-Thursday, although we will consider 7 day rentals from Friday-Friday as well as multiple week rentals. Strict cleaning standards will be implemented so you will arrive to an impeccably clean home.

***If booking before April 15, 2024 cancellations will be accepted for a full refund within 14 days of booking. After 14 days no refund will be issued. No refunds will be issued for accepted bookings after April 15, 2024 for the summer season. Date changes accepted up to 30 days before your stay pending availability.

The space

We are situated on the boarder of Ocean Bay Park and Seaview 1 block from the Seaview Ball field on the corner of Superior and Thompson. It is approximately 100 yards to the beach.
The beach house has a private deck on the west side of the house great for afternoon sun and relaxation. The house comes fully equipped with everything you need for a great week. There is an entrance conveniently located off the deck to the kitchen so eating outdoors or indoors has easy access. Trees and a diamond fence surround the deck and property. We have a 3 bedroom, 1½ baths and outdoor shower. The living room has a wood-burning stove although during the summer months it is not used. Indoors we have a good-sized dining area to entertain and a large living room with very high ceilings. There is a TV, VHS, stereo and plenty of tapes as well as games, cards and books…
The 3 bedrooms consist of a large master with a king sized bed, AC and a ceiling fan. The second bedroom has 2 twin beds AC and a Washer /Dryer. The third bedroom has AC and a king.
There is another entrance from the street to the living room and small deck that wraps around to the large deck. There is a wagon and some FI bikes. Please always keep them locked at all times.
We have a care takers guesthouse next door, which is separated by a fence on the eastern side of the property with a separate entrance to the street as well as separate deck. The only adjoining wall is bedroom against bedroom and is very well insulated. The spaces are separate and you always have privacy. The good news here is that if you have any questions about Fire Island, restaurants , shopping, hiking, freight, water taxis… we are there to help out! We have never had any complaints.
Since we are in a quiet area of the island with an uncrowded beach, we do our best to respect all our neighbors and ask our tenants to do the same. This is a magical place!
We are a block away from the ball field and the children’s baseball games begin at 8:30 Am on Sat. and Sun. Teens game is at 5Pm. Fri and Sat. We are also one block to a wonderful playground as well as the beach or the bay.
We ask that all outdoor dinners end at 10 PM so the police don’t come. They can be called by a neighbor although we have not had that happen yet. We cherish our neighbors and respect their privacy. However, we have children as well and understand it is not a perfect world. Please do not get us wrong, we believe in live and let live. We just want all parties involved to be on the same page. This is not a grouper house or a frat party house, no beer pong, no parties !We want you to enjoy your time on Fire Island.

This beautiful vacation home has a brand new kitchen, stainless steel appliances & hardwood floors. Lots of pots and pans, knives, microwave, dishware, utensils, french press, toaster oven, dishwasher.

Living Room:
The interior is spacious and full of light with a wonderful open concept flow. There is a Roku TV with streaming capabilities.

Dining Space:
The Dining area offers seating for up to 7.

Outdoor Space:
There is an enormous wraparound outdoor patio. Lots of seating options, a propane grill, and two outdoor showers.

Beach:
There are beach chairs/umbrellas to use.

The home sleeps 10. Please note the bedroom spaces are on the smaller side.
