A one bedroom cottage in historic Westbrook, a quaint shoreline community on the banks of Long Island Sound, halfway between New York and Boston. This fully furnished cottage features 1 bedroom with queen bed (can be changed to 2 twins for a slight fee), 1 bathroom, living room and eat-in kitchen. Absolutely loved this house and will definitely plan on staying here again! My husband is originally from Connecticut and his entire family still lives there. Traditionally we stay with family when we visit but I decided to rent a house this trip so we could entertain and have everyone over. This house was charming and very comfortable. It was my mother in laws 80th birthday and I had about 25 family members over for a dinner party. Every person who entered the house commented on what a terrific cottage it was. Having the upstairs loft was a perfect space for my son to have his privacy and a place to relax. He (and I) loved having the wireless internet connection that worked great! The outdoor area was very private and the deck was a wonderful space to hang out and kick back. Everyone really enjoyed the art work throughout the house and commented that it provided warmth and character to the cottage. Lastly I want to share my comments on the owner Yvette, she was very prompt in her responses to me and a real pleasure to work with through the rental process. Yvette thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us, it was the most memorable visit to Connecticut that our family has ever had. I have been renting my cottage since 2006. I own the lot next door, a tiny wooded lot, so the back yard is very private. The house is on a private dirt home has a large deck, front porch, fireplace, I provide linens, spices, paper towels, trash bags.

Our Beach house is tucked away in a quiet private Connecticut shoreline neighborhood. Bike or flip-flop to our private beach and fishing pier. Our Cottage boasts a large, private, yard that affords lively games of horseshoes or croquet. Nap or read in a hammock or relax with a cold refreshment under the gigantic trees. Enjoy water views of Long Island Sound from a large 4-season porch/front room with windows on three sides full 4-seater sofa and four cushioned rattan chairs newly recovered with ottomans and coffee tables. Walk inside to large living room with 3 seater and 2 seater sofas, large cushioned chair with ottoman and more little side tables. This room is open through dining and kitchen and views of miles of protected salt marsh views from the full deck along the back of the house. The deck has a loveseat, 2 lounge chairs and coffee table on one end, a new Weber grill, dining table and 6 chairs on the other end - there is also an outside shower. The house has a one level, spacious open floor plan of a large front room, kitchen, living room, leading to two bedrooms and a full bath with bath tub/shower. This Home has central air & heat throughout, washer/dryer, full kitchen with new appliances and a dishwasher (with soap so you can run it every night), cabinets full of dishes, glassware, pots & pans - I leave detergent, soaps, everything you need. New bath (tub/shower, toilet, large vanity with sink) and four drawer bureau full of extra linens and towels. Washer/Dryer unit means anything can be cleaned easily - I even leave detergent. Each bedroom has new mattresses, 2 pillows/person, blankets & quilts with sheets, so you can be comfortable even on cool nights. The pullout sofa bed also has its own set of sheets, pillows and blanket. There are overhead fans in each room if you want to open windows. The deck runs along the full back of the house, high above the marsh, so watching the birds & sunset is wonderful. Deck has a gas grill, seating for 8 on the deck - dine outside or in - outside shower on deck. And the beach is a short walk across the street! Shore Road is a 20mph, wonderful to walk or ride (bring your bikes), lined with summer homes with families.

The house was gutted 14 years ago, raised and new electrical, plumbing, roof, windows, doors, ceilings, walls, floors, bath and kitchen completely new. Central air & heat and overhead ceiling fans in all rooms for fresh cross breeze from the sound or marsh. 2 bedrooms offer private sleeping quarters, while sofas offer extra spots with one queen pullout sofa bed. White sofa and loveseat, cushy chair and ottoman in the living room have two end tables and a coffee table, large 50' TV with DVD & cable will entertain at night. Separate front room allows for two groups of people to do their own thing (with a door in between) in one house and features a 4 seater rattan, custom-covered sofa and matching 4 chairs and ottoman, side table, coffee table, and bookcase with books and games. The kitchen has new dishwasher, refrigerator, oven/4 burner cooktop, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, baking sheets & pans, serving dishes, wine glasses...it also has a drop-leaf table (which expands) with five matching chairs and 2 spares inside (+4 outside) to add. Dine inside or out on the deck - you can see the sunsets and watch osprey and other birds in the salt marsh - another beautiful view. The beach across the street is only shared with one house (whose older inhabitants rarely leave their deck) so the beach is not crowded and access to the water is direct. Bring your walking shoes, bicycles or kayaks and enjoy! Route 1 two miles away with Stop & Shop, Shop Rite, TJ Max, Clinton & five miles is Westbrook Outlet shopping, cinemas, with many family and fine restaurants along the ride. Wonderful place to vacation with quick access to nearby Madison's State Park on the water, small towns with their historic sites and antique shops to wander through. I can give you many ideas to fill your days or nights when you want a break from enjoying the beach.

The Gardeners Cottage, less then1mile from the Long Island Sound, is a great alternative to the common hotel. Situated a stones throw from Hammonasset State Park and Beach, Clinton Outlets and the Shore Line East Train Station. Near by you will find places to kayak, Chamard Wineries, Marinas and many quaint New England towns.The Cottage is fitted with its own router coupled with an eating nook that can double as a work space. pets are allowed. self check-in

About this space
Originally from Russia (hence the name “Beriozka” meaning Birch Tree) I live in Stamford CT. About 7-8 years ago I’ve discovered Chester/ Essex area and fell in love. I’ve been coming here during summer to enjoy river rides, during winter just to see snow on the ground of old towns and needless to say during fall – when all the beauty of nature unfolds. Then came an idea to have an own place here and when an opportunity came to buy this small cottage on Cedar Lake I’ve jumped on it.
The space
This brand new cozy 730sf cottage with extra-large windows offers cathedral ceilings; custom built-ins; fully equipped kitchen with quartz counter top which opens to cozy living area with gas fireplace, pull out queen size couch; two bedrooms with comfortable queen size beds in each, luxurious bathroom with a full size soaking tub and spacious shower with glass wall and door; stack-able washer/dryer; two large Smart TVs, split a/c units in each room, ceiling fan in the living room/kitchen; handmade custom stained glass panels and artwork add character to this wonderful place.
Large deck offers outdoor kitchen with sink and gas grill and dining area; enjoy a tranquil back yard with fire pit, four comfortable Adirondack armchairs and two lounge chairs under an umbrella.
You can find probably everything you’d need including all kitchen and bathroom necessities, cooking spices, cleaning supplies, linens, towels, books, games, beach towels, four beach chairs, two swimming board and even two kids life jackets.

Other things to note
If you are looking for cheerful get-together with a big company of your friends – sorry this place is not for you. Only four people are welcome to stay and no pets (don’t ask) no additional guest at any time. It’s a small lake community with private but not large yards where sounds travel so no music or laud conversations outside after 9pm, please. No candles inside the house – outside fire pit with plenty of firewood is available. No smoking inside either. Please try to use fireplace not more than 3-4 hours a day. During winter keep thermostats at 75 degree or less. The rest is very easy: when taking a shower please turn on the fan, when using a grill please turn on the fan and gas line - after you are done - turn it off. During check out turn off A/Cs and TVs (don't forget to sign off from all the networks you've watched during the stay) but other than that you don’t have to do any cleaning – you’ve paid for it. If you stay longer than a week – we don’t offer discounts but the cleaning lady will come to clean and change your linens ones a week free of charge

Guests are sure to enjoy a memorable vacation in this fully furnished, 2 bedroom/2 bath cottage. The main/master bedroom has a double-sized bed, while the remaining bedroom is furnished with a double-sized bed (s), The cozy living room is furnished with pull out sofa for sleeping of a total of 5 people comfortable. The kitchen is perfect for dining as it is equipped with toaster, coffee maker, microwave, dishwasher ,and small wares. Situated on private Chapman Beach , guests can enjoy an afternoon of swimming or relaxing on private beach within a 2 minute walk, and later watch the sunset from the dining room.

Spend the day away, enjoying nearby attractions such as outlet shopping, Historic Essex, Essex Train and Riverboat cruises, Antiquing in Old Saybrook , Essex and other nearby towns, Gillette Castle State Park, Godspeed Opera House, Movie Theaters, Public Golf and Miniature Golf, Fishing and hiking along the shoreline or just walking around the nearby marinas . Short 30 minute drive to the casino.
