This bright cottage sits between Ashintully Gardens (landscaped public gardens with winding brook, fountain, paths and hiking trails to the stunning ruins of Ashintully) and the McLennan Reservation on Round Mountain, 1000 acres of wooded hiking trails and the largest beaver dam in Berkshire County. The land around the cottage is under conservation restriction and there are plenty of places to hike and explore. You can hear the bells of a nearby monastery. Also very close to the Appalachian trail, several lakes and ponds, and the Tyringham Cobble, and a driveable distance from Bartholomew's Cobble, Monument Mountain, the Ice Glen, Bash Bish Falls, Beartown State Forest and Mt Greylock. Close to Lee with restaurants and outlet mall, and Lenox, Stockbridge, and Great Barrington. 20 min drive to Tanglewood Music Festival, Berkshire Theatre Festival, Jacobs Pillow, Shakespeare and Company, Chesterwood, The Mount, Naumkeg, the Norman Rockwell Museum, and more. An hour from the Hancock Shaker Village, Williamstown Theatre Festival, and Mass MOCA.

This turn of the century cottage is located on a 130 acre farm, it has total privacy and beautiful surrounding. The house is stocked with linens. Three and a half baths, three full bedrooms, kitchen, living room, dining room, screened in porch, a deck, and washer/dryer. The house is across the brook and up a stone staircase (30 steps) from the parking area. We can make the option available to unload your baggage on the driveway to the main house in order to circumvent the steps (details available). You will be just across the street from the Ashintully Gardens of 150 acres and McLennon Reservation of 450 acres. Near Tyringham Cobble, state forests (Beartown and October Mountain) and the Appalachian Trail. Short drive to Great Barrington, Stockbridge, Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow, and Kripalu. Visit the Bidwell house, Naumkeg, Mission House, Shaker Village, Norman Rockwell Museum, or one of many other sites right in the neighborhood. Over 100 restaurants in Great Barrington alone. Farm stands and shopping (i.e Berkshire Co-Op and Guido's Market) close by if you want to cook in the fully equipped kitchen. Great place for nature lovers, music lovers, foodies, sightseeing aficionados, or someone looking for peace and quiet and a nice place to sit.

The master bedroom is nice and airy and has an outside deck. The second bedroom is slightly smaller but gets good light. The third bedroom is on the lower level and affords privacy.

The property is very well manageable.

The driveway to the main house circumvents the 30 stone steps up from Main Road, and you can park very close to the cottage for loading and unloading. The house is great, but what is outside your door is magical. Tyringham Valley is one of the most scenic towns in the Berkshires. You are only steps away from Ashintully Gardens with its blend of majestic manicured beauty and spectacular wild forested mountain side land. Hikes of McLennon Reservation available are accessible by foot from the house.

The cottage is near the Appalachian Trail, and the town swimming pond. We can suggest hikes, cycling routes, swimming holes, or walks and will share our many guide books and maps here. Their is a pool on the owner’s property which can only be used with the host’s permission.

Welcome to Prospect Place! Our charming renovated home is set upon a hilltop overlooking downtown Lee, "The Gateway to the Berkshires." The house is in the heart of the Berkshires and central to just about everything. It is a a short drive to Tanglewood, the Berkshire Theater Festival, Jacobs Pillow and the Berkshire Outlet Mall. Golf, tennis, skiing, swimming, and spas are just minutes away. It is a perfect spot for relaxation, culture, sports, a girls weekend, and family gatherings.

The space
Take in the mountain / town views from the front wrap-around porch, or enjoy dinner and cocktails on the private back deck. The kitchen is newly renovated with granite counters, all new cabinets/appliances with a slider to the back deck and open to a charming sitting room. There is a formal dining room and a front family room with distant views. The new addition features a first floor master bedroom, bathroom with shower (also accessible from the hall) and laundry closet. The second floor has a newly renovated bathroom with shower and three bedrooms.

Both the local manager who lives within 10 minutes from the house and the owner are available by phone at any hour for questions or concerns.
