Living and playing

Built in 2012, the chalet accommodates ten people in luxurious comfort. It has three bedrooms and two bathrooms on the lower floor and two bedrooms and two bathrooms on the upper floor. In the middle floor is a wonderful double height living / dining / kitchen area with a big open stone fireplace. Large windows look across the valley and open onto the spacious balcony and terrace. Facing the dining table, the large cooking island is the perfect spot for the social cook. The kitchen is well equipped with all mod-cons such as a De Longhi coffee machine, conventional and microwave oven, dishwasher and American fridge. There are also two high chairs for the kids. Overlooking the living area, the mezzanine has an iMac computer and WiFi, bluetooth speakers in the bedroom for listening to music, widescreen TV, Wii, Playstation and the chalet is well stocked with books, dvd's, toys and games providing varied entertainment for all ages.

Relaxing and sleeping

If it's peace and quite you're after then the sauna is the place to relax. And ensuring a good night’s sleep, comfortable boxspring beds are made-up for your arrival with crisp percale cotton sheets Most beds can be arranged as either twin or double to suit your needs. Soft bathrobes, hairdryers and large towels complete the focus on quality and comfort. For those holidaying with small children a travel cot and linen is available.

Family focused

La Tzoumaz, on the other side of the crest from Verbier, is a quiet family focused resort amidst the wonderful skiing of the four valleys. The village has a small natural ice-rink, outdoor tennis court, indoor swimming pool, playground, creche, 12km winter hiking trails and 13km snowshoe trails. Additionally in the Riddes valley there are beautiful thermal baths. A handful of restaurants are within walking distance of the chalet including one who can deliver a catered dinner for the evening. The village also has a newsagent, baker, PROXI supermarket for essential provisions, cash machine and of course the compulsory ski-hire / bike-hire shops.

A skiers paradise

Set at the 4 Vallées, La Tzoumaz offers you an extraordinary skiing paradise.

The resort has 40km of piste on snow-sure north facing slopes where it is possible to ski until the end of April. In just nine minutes, the La Tzoumaz telecabin takes you to the top of Savolyeres, 2,354 meters above sea level, where a wide variety of ski tows, chair lifts and cable-cars, provide connections to other resorts in the 4 Valleys region. Together with Verbier, Nendaz, Veysonnaz, La Tzoumaz form one of the largest ski areas in Switzerland offering over 400 km of runs and 100 lift installations. With a length of 10 km and a difference of 848 min altitude, La Tzoumaz’s famous toboggan run is extremely long and fairly fast!. Tobogganing events are held each Friday and Saturday full moon in January, February and March including fondue at the mountain restaurant in Savoleyres. The La Tzoumaz ski school runs lessons every day of the winter season. Full details about lift prices, ski lessons and weekly ski courses are detailed on the Tzoumaz booking portal. Heli skiing is available at Croix de Coeurs, the alpine peak located between La Tzoumaz and Verbier.

Getting to the slopes

Chalet Alexia is most practical if you have a car. The chalet is located 300m below the lift and the village. It's a challenging walk up hill with your skis - not easy for children, but doable for adults. Good skiers can then ski back from the pistes to the front door. If you're not up for the walk, the easiest way is to drive to the large parking located above the children's ski school, park the car and ski down to the lift. You can then ski back to the car at the end of the day.

The Verbier Infinite Playground Pass (VIP pass) give access to more than 50 activities for free or at a preferential rate including free access to the lifts. There are fondue and raclette sets for a traditional Swiss evening in front of the log fire. A hairdryer, iron and portable outdoor barbecue are all available for you to use. RelaxingThe chalet has a fabulous position, elevated to give a stunning view across the nearby valley to the distant mountain peaks beyond. The luxury sofas are an incredibly comfortable place from which to admire this stunning view, or you can sink into a cowhide chair to indulge in the choice of cable channels and DVDs offered by the 32-inch (81cm) flat-screen TV. Alternatively, lose yourself in the music coming from the CD/iPod station whilst a log fire crackles in the background. The mezzanine area upstairs has bean bags, TV and DVD player so everyone can have their own space during your holiday. There is a small infra-red sauna outside the chalet that is great for soothing your aching muscles after a long day on the ski slopes or hiking trails. The telecabin link to Verbier operates daily at this time of year from 08:45 to 12:30 and from 13:30 to 16:45, meaning that you can easily access the famous resort as a pedestrian, or accompanied by your bicycle or e-bike. For a small supplement you can even use a variety of mountain lifts to make your way up to Mont Fort at 3300m for the highest fondue in Europe and incredible mountain panoramas that include Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn.

In summer, the area turns into a hiking and mountain biking paradise, with hundreds of kilometres of marked trails criss-crossing the mountains, awash with alpine flowers and a range of wildlife to spot. Visit the Maison de la Foret with its wildlife exhibitions and its Five Senses Nature Trail, and the starting point of many beautiful hikes. The Bisses are relatively flat footpaths that follow the water as it trickles around the mountainsides, where for centuries farmers and villagers channelled the streams for their own uses. They have been preserved and can now be an incredible way to spend a day or more on easy hikes with stunning views across the Rhone Valley or over to the Massif des Combins. We will provide you with plenty of tourist information including our favourite suggestions for day trips that are easily reachable from La Tzoumaz, from spectacular gorge walks, cheese factories and roman festivals to rainy-day ideas such as underground lake tours. The road that winds up the mountain-top to the panoramic Croix-de-Coeur Cafe-Restaurant opens as soon as the snow melts and from here you can continue the drive (or cycle) all the way down into Verbier. Try not to miss the Swiss National Celebrations in La Tzoumaz on August 1st, or the famous festival of live music performances, the Verbier Festival, which runs from mid-July to the beginning of August.

ForfamiliesThe centre of La Tzoumaz benefits from an outdoor ice-skating rink in winter, and a children's playground area in summer, with a rope-based agility park alongside more traditional equipment such as slides. A fun channel system with running water is built into the hillside to provide plenty of entertainment for older children too.

At the exit of the village the Domus playground is a fabulousspot, often bathed in late afternoon sunshine,with swings, a zipline, see-saw, climbing frames and even old tractors to clamber on. - "A beautiful and quiet chalet with lots of room for relaxing and enjoying the spectacular view. We loved the location; it was outside the main part of town, but not too far for walking to the gondola (Savoleyres/Verbier) nor for quick trips to get groceries from the Supermarche. Plentiful bedrooms with space for moving around beds, and with places to keep clothes. Clean, modern bathrooms with nicely designed fixtures and great water pressure. Spectacular deck area for sitting and looking out over the valley to Iserables or for having breakfast while taking in the fresh air. A tiny outdoor stand-alone sauna was a plus for relaxing muscles after long days hiking. Our family of four (older children) rented this for over two weeks and hosted a rotating set of guests: from grandparents to other families with younger children. The house was comfortable and resourceful for all our configurations. Every place we've stayed in La Tzoumaz/Verbier area has been special—but this was our favorite."

WinterThis chalet is ski-in and ski-out. The footpath at the side of the road in front of the chalet is prepared and maintained for skiers during the ski season, allowing you the luxury of skiing the 400m to the main ski piste and down to the Savoleyres telecabin and also skiing back home at the end of the day. Verbier is in easy reach at both times, via a (slightly adventurous!) mountain road in the summer/autumn, or via ski lifts and skiing in the winter. Out of season, lots of activities are within easy reach from tree climbing to mountain biking and thermal spas. During ski season, the skiing in La Tzoumas is good and easy, with runs for all levels. Skiing in Verbier is world-class, and on the sunny, end of season days we were there, there can be few better places anywhere. In summary, a great place to stay, within easy reach of Verbier, without Verbier prices for accommodation, evening food etc. Lots of space for families and groups alike, and overall thoroughly recommended!"

Chalet (altitude 1550m) offers you to ski from the front door! It is located above the village of La Tzoumaz and offers a great view. It is very nice and typical Wallis chalet with stoned floor and an open fire.

The chalet is 100m away from the cable-car and the center of La Tzoumaz is only 300m away. Accessing the chalet is only possible by foot. a short trail of 4-8 minutes walk is necessary to reach the chalet (avoid heavy suitcases and prefer backpack as luggage). The little hike is rewarded by the fact that once you're at the chalet, you'll start skiing from there as the chalet is located on the slope!

There are fondue and raclette sets for a traditional Swiss evening in front of the log fire. Washing machine, dryer, hairdryer, iron and portable outdoor barbecue are all available for you to use.

A selection of toys and games spanning a wide age group are available to use, including items ranging from wooden blocks, toy vehicles and a Playmobil ski lodge, to more mature items such as board games, playing cards and story cubes.

RelaxingAt the end of an exhilirating day in the mountains, allow yourself tobe soothed by the spray jetsand gentle bubbles ofthe outdoor jacuzzi, and watch as the lights start to twinkle in the faraway villages across the valley. In our experience any remaining tensions can be relieved with a fun game of table tennis on the upper deck. Inside there is underfloor heating throughout, but that might not stop you from lighting the fire to add to the cosy glow of an alpine evening overlooking the village and the surrounding snow-capped mountains. Comfortable sofas and cable-TV can provide a distraction, either in the main living area, or upstairs in thechildren's room.

If you want to head out to one of the resort bars or restaurants, you can just take the shuttle cabin down to the parking level and walk 5 or 10 minutes to the town centre. If you fancy a day off from skiing, challenge everyone in the chalet to try out the famous La Tzoumaz luge piste – you can use your lift pass to ride up to the top of the Savoleyres telecabin with your sledge. Please note that it’s better to rent a sturdy one from the resort as there are 10km of sledge runs between the top of the telecabin and the chalet!

ParkingThere are two private parking spaces in the shared underground car-park on the premises. An electric vehicle charging point is available here for your private use. From here, a shuttle cabin carries you 30m steeply uphill to the 40m footpath that leads you to the chalet. Additional parking is available only 150m away all year round, in a lay-by on the main road. If arriving by taxi, then a car is not necessary in winter due to proximity to ski-lifts, restaurants and supermarket. Contact us for railway or airport transfers.

WinterFrom the moment the automatic garage door opens to allow you into the snow-free underground parking, everything has been designed with skiers in mind: the parking is linked first to the chalet and then to the piste by a 70m shuttle cabin on rails that easily climbs the near-vertical mountainside, so that you don’t have to! This is what makes Chalet le Grand Ours ski-in & ski-out. No more struggling onto a ski-bus with arms full of children’s skis and poles, and no need to walk a long way in your ski-boots. There’s also no need to clear snow from your car in the mornings as you can just park it indoors and forget about it until it’s time to go home. In fact, you really don’t need a car if you’re staying here in the winter. This chalet is ski-in and ski-out! During the ski season, you only have to step into the shuttle cabin outside the chalet and you are carried the 40m uphill to the piste. From here you only need to ski 300m down the main piste and you arrive at the Savoleyres telecabin. At the end of the last run of the day, don’t forget to stop before the end and step into the shuttle cabin to be carried the last 40m down to your chalet. The main piste is not accessible to complete beginners, who would need to walk the 300m to the ski-school meeting point at the telecabin. The modern high-speed telecabin carries you from La Tzoumaz up to the top of the Savoleyres in less than 8 minutes, from where you can decide to ski back on the quiet La Tzoumaz slopes or ski down to Verbier’s legendary slopes and world-class off-piste opportunities in the vast 4-Valleys ski area.

SummerIn the peak summer season (from early July to late August), we provide you with free VIP pedestrian lift-passes, half-price mountain-bike daypasses and a range of other discounts. The telecabin link to Verbier operates daily at this time of year from 08:45 to 12:30 and from 13:30 to 16:45, meaning that you can easily access the famous resort as a pedestrian, or accompanied by your bicycle or e-bike. For a small supplement you can even use a variety of mountain lifts to make your way up to Mont Fort at 3300m for the highest fondue in Europe and incredible mountain panoramas that include Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn.

In summer, the area turns into a hiking and mountain biking paradise, with hundreds of kilometres of marked trails criss-crossing the mountains, awash with alpine flowers and a range of wildlife to spot. Visit the Maison de la Foret with its wildlife exhibitions and its Five Senses Nature Trail, and the starting point of many beautiful hikes. The Bisses are relatively flat footpaths that follow the water as it trickles around the mountainsides, where for centuries farmers and villagers channelled the streams for their own uses. They have been preserved and can now be an incredible way to spend a day or more on easy hikes with stunning views across the Rhone Valley or over to the Massif des Combins. We will provide you with plenty of tourist information including our favourite suggestions for day trips that are easily reachable from La Tzoumaz, from spectacular gorge walks, cheese factories and roman festivals to rainy-day ideas such as underground lake tours. The road that winds up the mountain-top to the panoramic Croix-de-Coeur Cafe-Restaurant opens as soon as the snow melts and from here you can continue the drive (or cycle) all the way down into Verbier. Try not to miss the Swiss National Celebrations in La Tzoumaz on August 1st, or the famous festival of live music performances, the Verbier Festival, which runs from mid-July to the beginning of August.

ForfamiliesThe centre of La Tzoumaz benefits from an outdoor ice-skating rink in winter, and a children's playground area in summer, with a rope-based agility park alongside more traditional equipment such as slides. A fun channel system with running water is built into the hillside to provide plenty of entertainment for older children too.

At the exit of the village the Domus playground is a fabulousspot, often bathed in late afternoon sunshine,with swings, a zipline, see-saw, climbing frames and even old tractors to clamber on. It is overlooked by an outdoor cafe (check opening hours) providing drinks,snacks and ice-creams. There are rabbits, donkeys,goats, and there isalso rock-climbingon the local crag in the background (contact us for equipment and instructors).

TheMaison de la Forethasa cafe area for drinks and snacks (check opening hours), wildlife exhibitions and its Five Senses Nature Trail with hands-on activities to borrow such as bird-whistling and learning to draw. The Nature Trail has disabled parking and is accessible to wheelchairs and children's buggies.

Right at the top of the village is the "Defis de la Riviere", which is equipped as an outdoor physical challenge area for older kids on the river. There are sensory walking areas for younger children and a basket swing, and also a picnic spot nearby.

A short drive down the valley takes you to the large lake at the Parc des Iles, with its playgrounds, high-ropes park, minigolf, restaurant, miniature train and more.

WinterThis incredible chaletis ski-in and ski-out. During the ski season, you only have to step into the shuttle cabinoutside the chaletand you are carried the 40m uphill to the piste. From here you only need to ski 300m down the main pisteto arrive at the Savoleyres telecabin. At the end of the last run of the day, don't forget to stop before the end and hop into the shuttle cabin to be carried the last 80m to your door. The main piste is not accessible to complete beginners, who would need to walk the 300m to the ski-school meeting point at the telecabin.

The entrance is protected by a drum that also serves as a freeze room for winter skis and wood storage.

A wood-burning central heating maintains a pleasant temperature throughout the chalet. This heating is supplemented by floor heating in the bathrooms.

The chalet is surrounded by terraces, grassed or paved so you can follow the sun. There's also a small barbecue and an outdoor table with benches

Lovely family chalet of 100m2, cosy and welcoming, located on the heights of La Tzoumaz at 1610m. It is accessible by car or public transports (bus stop 500m from the door on a small road). The chalet is also nearby the ski slopes and can be reached on skis (ski-in / ski-out access).

The cable car and the beginner ski slope are both less than 500 meters away. The chalet is just bellow a very quiet road and close to the forest. Enjoy the peace and quiet as well as beautiful views of the valley.

The space
The chalet has all the necessary amenities for a simple but comfortable stay. We like spending family time there during our holidays and we are delighted that others can enjoy the place too. The kitchen/dining room/living room are in the same larged shared area which makes it a very friendly space for groups or families. We are happy for you to use the wood stove in the living room, wood is provided.

All three rooms are furnished with a closet. Bedding include duvets and pillows for six people as well as six extra blankets. Sheets and linen are not included in the rent but can be arranged on request.

The chalet has a full bathroom with a bathtub and toilets plus an extra “visitor” toilet.

Guest access
The chalet is accessible by car and free on road parking is possible 20 meters away from the accommodation. The access road is flat and cleared from snow by the council in the winter. Gravel is spread on icy/snowy parts. We never needed nor a 4-wheeler nor chains to access the chalet.

From December to March-April the place can be access on skis but it may depends on the amount of snowfall. The ski-in / ski-out path is also a snowshoe and randonnée track and may not be suitable for novice skiers. In any case the slopes and the beginner area are also accessible by foot and are less than 500 meters away on the road.

The forest and the start of the snowshoe tracks are located a few meters away from the chalet and, in the summer, lots of hikes and family walks, like the “sentier des fables” are reachable in just a few minutes.

Other things to note
La Tzoumaz forms part of the “4 Vallées” ski area, largest ski area entirely located in Switzerland, and offers over 410 km of pure piste pleasure. In the summer visitors can enjoy hundreds of walking and biking tracks.

Charming Family Chalet for up to 10 Guests – Ideal for Two Families

The space
Tucked away in a peaceful setting just 8 minutes’ drive from the La Tzoumaz gondola, this cozy 5-bedroom chalet is ideal for two families or a mixed group of up to 10 guests. The layout is best suited for 6 to 8 adults and 2 to 4 children.

The chalet is located on a steep mountain road, which can be challenging to navigate for inexperienced drivers, both in summer and winter. During periods of heavy snowfall, direct vehicle access may not be possible. In such cases, guests should be prepared to park further away and walk approximately five minutes to reach the property.
For this reason, the chalet is not recommended for elderly guests or those with reduced mobility, and we advise that only confident drivers book this property, particularly in winter conditions. A 4x4 vehicle or snow chains may be required.

Bedrooms & Bathrooms
With three double rooms, one room with bunk beds and an extra space in the attic that is perfect for two teenagers, the chalet can sleep up to 10 people so is ideal for two families, or a large group of friends. The master bedroom has an ensuite bathroom.  The other three downstairs bedrooms share two bathrooms, one of which has an indoor whirlpool spa bath, the other of which has a shower and access to the sauna. There is a separate WC on the bedroom floor and a second on the main living floor. 

La Tzoumaz Chalet les Enfants du Paradis is equipped with a high chair and a folding travel cot (bedding not provided) suitable for children under 2 years old, and a second is available on demand on arrival.  Please note that in accordance with the manufacturer's safety instructions, additional mattresses are not provided with the cots.

Equipment
The bright and spacious separate kitchen is fully fitted to meet the needs of cooking on your mountain holiday, and has a small breakfast table.  There is a fridge/freezer, separate freezer, oven and hob. There is a dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster, electric filter coffee-machine, Nespresso coffee-machine plus fondue and raclette sets for a traditional Swiss evening in front of the log fire. A washing machine, dryer, iron and hairdryer are available, and there is a portable barbecue for outdoor use.  Just inside the main entrance is a kit room with ski-boot dryers and plenty of hooks and shelf space to keep your mountain equipment warm and organised for the next day on the mountains.    

Relaxing
The morning coffee balcony is a great place from which to admire the style of the first skiers passing by as they head down the piste for another run on beautifully groomed pistes. There is a large side terrace and a sunny rear terrace for enjoying a barbecue lunch. When it's time to relax indoors, a soak in the whirlpool spa bath and a session in the sauna are a great way to relax as evening approaches.  Later on, sipping a glass of local wine as a friend plays a familiar tune on the piano, you can light the fire and watch the winter snowflakes drifting slowly past the windows.

Winter
The beginner's carpet lift is just a short uphill walk from the chalet. A short ski down the main piste brings you to the Savoleyres telecabin in a matter of minutes and good skiers can reach this main piste from the garden. The modern high-speed telecabin carries you from La Tzoumaz up to the top of the Savoleyres in less than 8 minutes, from where you can decide to ski back on the quiet La Tzoumaz slopes or ski down to Verbier’s legendary slopes and world-class off-piste opportunities in the vast 4-Valleys ski area.

Summer
In the peak summer season (from early July to late August), we provide you with free VIP pedestrian lift-passes, half-price mountain-bike daypasses and a range of other discounts. The telecabin link to Verbier operates daily at this time of year from 08:45 to 12:30 and from 13:30 to 16:45, meaning that you can easily access the famous resort as a pedestrian, or accompanied by your bicycle or e-bike. For a small supplement you can even use a variety of mountain lifts to make your way up to Mont Fort at 3300m for the highest fondue in Europe and incredible mountain panoramas that include Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn.

In summer, the area turns into a hiking and mountain biking paradise, with hundreds of kilometres of marked trails criss-crossing the mountains, awash with alpine flowers and a range of wildlife to spot. Visit the Maison de la Foret with its wildlife exhibitions and its Five Senses Nature Trail, and the starting point of many beautiful hikes. The Bisses are relatively flat footpaths that follow the water as it trickles around the mountainsides, where for centuries farmers and villagers channelled the streams for their own uses. They have been preserved and can now be an incredible way to spend a day or more on easy hikes with stunning views across the Rhone Valley or over to the Massif des Combins. We will provide you with plenty of tourist information including our favourite suggestions for day trips that are easily reachable from La Tzoumaz, from spectacular gorge walks, cheese factories and roman festivals to rainy-day ideas such as underground lake tours. The road that winds up the mountain-top to the panoramic Croix-de-Coeur Cafe-Restaurant opens as soon as the snow melts and from here you can continue the drive (or cycle) all the way down into Verbier. Try not to miss the Swiss National Celebrations in La Tzoumaz on August 1st, or the famous festival of live music performances, the Verbier Festival, which runs from mid-July to the beginning of August.

For families
The centre of La Tzoumaz benefits from an outdoor ice-skating rink in winter, and a children's playground area in summer, with a rope-based agility park alongside more traditional equipment such as slides.  A fun channel system with running water is built into the hillside to provide plenty of entertainment for older children too. 

At the exit of the village the Domus playground is a fabulous spot, often bathed in late afternoon sunshine, with swings, a zipline, see-saw, climbing frames and even old tractors to clamber on.  It is overlooked by an outdoor cafe (check opening hours) providing drinks, snacks and ice-creams. There are rabbits, donkeys, goats, and there is also rock-climbing on the local crag in the background (contact us for equipment and instructors).

The Maison de la Foret has a cafe area for drinks and snacks (check opening hours), wildlife exhibitions and its Five Senses Nature Trail with hands-on activities to borrow such as bird-whistling and learning to draw. The Nature Trail has disabled parking and is accessible to wheelchairs and children's buggies.

Right at the top of the village is the "Defis de la Riviere", which is equipped as an outdoor physical challenge area for older kids on the river.  There are sensory walking areas for younger children and a basket swing, and also a picnic spot nearby.
