The innkeeper was lovely, the room was very comfortable with everything you might need from hairdryer to iron and ironing board. As we were leaving early in the morning and would not be able to stay for breakfast the Innkeeper offered to have breakfast to go for us, and it was delicious! The Carriage House has been converted into two apartments, one upstairs and one downstairs, both with their own entrances. This listing is for the upstairs unit. Enjoy the original hardwood floors, the updated bathroom and furnishings, and the big flatscreen TV. We also have a full kitchen with everything you'd need to eat-in! The TV is a smart TV (Netflix, Prime, and Hulu) but does not have cable.
The sleeping space for a third guest is a twin rollaway bed in the living room.

The space
It is a 1-bedroom, sleeping up to 4 available on a WEEKLY basis. I am able to get a two-bedroom unit if needed. Expect a clean room that includes all the things you need in the kitchen(partial or full) and bathrooms. This is the ESTIMATED price. Actual prices may be a bit higher or lower. This professionally managed resort has a $7.00 daily resort fee per unit, payable when you check-in, and a deposit of $100 that is refundable after checking out.

Check-ins generally start Saturday or Sunday but late check-ins are fine too.

Eagle Trace 1-bedroom units sleep up to 4 people. I am able to get a 2nd bedroom unit if needed.

Unit Description: The bedroom has a bed for 2 people. There is a pullout double sofa bed in the living room. Other features include 2 TVs with cable, a fireplace, free internet, a microwave, a refrigerator, air conditioning, and heating. The exact unit is assigned upon check-in but the pictures show what you can expect.

This peaceful cottage has a rustic, yet modern feel to it. It is set on the edge of a wooded area with plenty of wildlife to enjoy, near Massanutten Resort. Enjoy the ambiance of the small electric fireplace, well-equipped kitchenette and dining area, or the front porch swing. The bathroom features an old-fashioned claw foot tub, fitted with a shower head.

The front porch overlooks an herb and flower garden for your enjoyment. There is a fire pit nearby for your use. Our home is adjoined to the herb and flower garden. Be aware the cottage is in the edge of the woods so bugs may be present.

This renovated historic carriage house is 2 blocks from Harrisonburg’s vibrant downtown. The space is light and airy with gabled ceilings and sky-lights that open. It is located on a leafy residential back-alley, with private entrance and off-street parking. JMU’s bluestone campus is a 10 minute walk away. We’ve set-up this space for a range of guests: from JMU parents visiting their children to people traveling for business who are seeking a more textured experience with home comforts.

The space
The carriage house has high-speed internet (GloFiber), and a 43” flat screen (Roku in “guest” mode, where you can sign in to your own Netflix, Amazin, Hulu, etc accounts). We do not have cable. There is one flight of exterior wooden stairs to the single-story cottage space. The front door opens with a guest code to Yale-Nest lock. Kitchenette appliances include: fridge/freezer, microwave, large toaster oven, traditional coffee maker, French press, coffee grinder, electric kettle, and a two burner hot plate (but no range). The kitchen bar has four bar stools for comfortable eating-in. The living area is an open space design with rustic reclaimed tulip poplar and oak beams, two large sky lights, and wood floors through-out. The bathroom has been updated with a marble tiled shower and large porcelain console sink. A comfortable king bed occupies the same open space as the living area and kitchenette. If desired, the small couch and living room chair can fold out into two small beds (comfortable for kids but not designed for medium to large adults). There is a $20 charge for more than two people.

Guest access
We live in the main house with surrounding yard and gardens. The carriage house is across the backyard from us. You have your own off street parking spot beside the carriage house, and the one-floor apartment on the second floor of the carriage house is all to yourself. This is a self check in, no-contact, rental experience. Only you will have access to the apartment during your rental. You will not have access to our garage (first floor of carriage house) or back yard or main house. But if you see us please wave us over - we are happy to chat in person if we are available and if you would like!

Other things to note
We renovated this carriage house in 2022 using low carbon footprint materials. We have been airbnb hosts since 2017 at other locations. We've used reclaimed oak and tulip poplar beams and added solar panels to the roof. We built the kitchen countertops, shelves, coffee table, from reclaimed wood (local ash trees that had died). We always use non-toxic cleaning supplies. We provide fresh flowers and herbs from our garden and eggs from our chickens (when they are laying).

You may hear our hens clucking in the morning (only hens, no roosters, but hens sometimes get a bit noisy).

We should also warn that there is a house occupied by college kids across the alleyway. They do not throw parties frequently, but sometimes they do on a weekend night.
