We've hosted guests since 1987 in our 10-bedroom Inn (once a barn!) Homemade breads, muffins, fruit cobbler, coffee & juice for breakfast. Near Wintergreen ski & golf, Blue Ridge mountains, dining, brewpubs, wineries, nature, great cycling & hiking!

The space
Bedrooms listed (10 in all) are in the building we call The Inn---a renovated horse barn, still sporting stall doors! Each room has one double bed, desk, wardrobe, side table and big window. The Inn has two kitchenettes, two common areas, a wrap-around deck, a patio, and several shared Men's and Ladies bathrooms (6 toilets, 4 showers, in all). The Inn is separate from our home, which is the office where guests check in. We live on 34 acres, with views of meadows and the Blue Ridge Mountains, in beautiful Nelson County Virginia.

The Inn's two kitchenettes include microwave ovens and refrigerators. We also provide an outdoor grill---But due to health dept regulations, no conventional stove or oven is at the Inn.

Our premises are ideal for retreats, small weddings, reunions of all sorts, and groups of friends---OR just perfect as a get-away for individual travelers. According to cyclists (from near and far), the Inn is especially suited for those who love tackling mountains and back-road adventures on 2-wheels---(especially because Martin is a member of that tribe!)
That said, no worries for guests who prefer their "feet on the ground"---Plenty of fun to be had adventuring on area trails, including the renowned AT, accessible just 13 miles up the hill at Reid's Gap.

Come experience the good life in Madison, Va. We are one mile from Early Mountain Vineyards and a short distance from others. We are a 5-minute drive to a local trail head to the Shenandoah National Park trails. We are 20 minutes to north Charlottesville/Holly Meade. Bike, hike, vineyard tour, or go antiquing and enjoy a comfy bed and a spacious room when it's time to turn in. In the evening, enjoy the conversation room where you can sit by a mesmerizing fire in the evening. We also have a fire pit outside, when star filled nights make it too beautiful to go inside.

Guests have a private front door entrance and the entire front end of the house, including the conversation room and the two upstairs bedrooms and the huge bathroom. We only rent to one party per weekend, so you have the entire space to yourself! Guests comment on what a great thing it is to have a huge private suite.

Although there is not a full kitchen, we have a dining room with a big farmhouse table and we provide a mini-fridge and a Keurig coffee machine for your convenience. Come enjoy!

The vineyards, restaurants, history, and arts/antique markets are abundant! Early Mountain Vineyards, recently featured in the Wall Street Journal, is being nationally touted as a premier vineyard destination in Virginia, and is 2 miles from our front door. MadArts offers weekly classes for those looking for a creative workshop and a getaway weekend. We have a separate out building that can be specifically used as a guest artist studio space. If you are a quilter, there is a great quilt shop in Historic Downtown Madison. We also have an old time mercantile store, an excellent farmers market on Saturday's, and a mennonite market open year round offering local fare.

Bright and open studio space that sits on a 2.5 acre parcel and is about 150 feet away from the main house where we live. It is less than 10 minutes to the airport and under 30 minutes to downtown. The space features a kitchenette, one full bath and an open lofted bedroom space (queen size bed) upstairs. The twin beds are located on the main floor. We can only allow a maximum of 2 cars due to limited space on the property. Use of candles or fire stove is not permitted.

The space
This space was originally built to be an artist's painting studio. The light quality and amount of natural light in the space is wonderful. Additionally, there are still some paint remnants from its former days as an art studio which add to its unique character and history. Reclaimed wood beams and other decorative salvaged antique elements and furnishings contribute to the cottage's eclectic charm.

Entire home and the backyard meadow area and any herbs, vegetables or fruits that may be in the garden when they are visiting. Guests can park their car directly in front of the cottage on the driveway path but need to keep cars off the lawn.

This historic cottage in Downtown Charlottesville was known as the "Evergreen Tea Room" in the 1920s and 1930s. The cottage served as a bed and breakfast and social spot almost 100 years ago, and we are happy to host you for a weekend or longer as you visit the Charlottesville area!

We love pets and have a few of our own! (woof, meow) We do ask for an additional $75 pet fee for guests that bring furry friends as the cleaning and care of the cottage is a bit tougher with pets. The main house holds five main bedrooms on the second floor, while the main floor is composed of our on-site restaurant, the Farm Bell Kitchen. Our adjoining townhomes host rooms 6-9. Rooms 6 & 7 are located on the ground floor, while rooms 8 & 9 share a stairwell to the second floor.

We are located next to the Courtyard Marriot, and share a private parking deck with them. Guests will receive a keycard to enter the garage upon check-in.

We are approximately .10 of a mile to UVA's campus, and directly across from UVA's Children's hospital. Guests with limited mobility are encouraged to call our Inn Manager to arrange the best room for their needs.
