A Little History:
Bella Cottage was built in 1922 as a 'mother-in-law' cottage. The cottage is named in honor of a woman who lived in the home located directly in front of the cottage when it was built in 1910. Bella, a widow and dressmaker at Hibbard's Department Store in downtown Colorado Springs, was one of the Cañon's first residents. Cheyenne Cañon was a summer getaway for wealthy residents of Colorado Springs at the turn of the century. Concerts were held every Sunday at Stratton Park, located just down the street from Bella Cottage. Just how and why Bella ended up living on this property is a mystery. However, she embodied the spirit of 'turn-of-the-century' Colorado Springs and one can only imagine her riding her bicycle to work in the summers or taking the trolley (abandoned by 1930) from the station in Stratton Park to her job. Cheyenne Cañon was incredibly rich in history, long before Bella's time. Going back to the encampments of the Ute Indians, this area has attracted nature lovers for centuries. The beauty of the area is unsurpassed and is awaiting to be discovered by . . . YOU!

The Agate Hill Historic District is in downtown Manitou Springs. We are up on the hill so the views are expansive on a on a quiet residential street. We have almost an acre of gardens. Depending on how you count, we are about 6 houses walking distance to the Post Office and downtown. We have 3 cottages on the property and can host 14 people total. Manitou is hilly, so expect steps and stairs. We are a adult oriented property, which means we welcome quiet well supervised older kids; to be honest if you have younger kids, properties that have play areas and pools are more suitable. Our property is drug and smoke free in its entirety.

Manitou Springs located in the foothills of Pikes Peak just 11 miles west of downtown Colorado Springs via US Hwy 24. Explore the many hiking/biking trails by just leaving from the cottage. In just minutes walk to downtown Manitou and find art galleries, clothing, jewelry or specialty shops, small resturants, pubs or night life or our mineral springs. Within walking distance find Spa services at the SunWater Spa, Heritage Museum, Miramont Castle, Manitou Antique Arcade, weekly summer live music, weekend festivals. The hosts are sweethearts and offered guidance for anything I needed but I really didn’t need anything because it was perfectly set up. We will rent there again when we come back to the area! The only minor issue was that we got to Manitou very late, around midnight, and had not eaten all day. By the time we got there and checked in no restaurant was open. Self-checkin would make it much more convenient. So if you are getting there, and need to eat, plan accordingly!"

The Santa Fe Trail is only one block away and is used by joggers, walkers and bicyclists. There are restaurants in short walking distance and freeway access is 2-minutes away. It hosts a new 200 square foot back deck with sun shade for relaxing, eating and enjoying the beautiful summer weather.

- "We had a little time finding it and eventually asked the across-the-street neighbors (who were delightful!). Everything we needed was available (except a vegetable steamer and a cutting board). Didn't miss an air conditioner as the fan was completely fine. The front deck was so comfortable and we spent most of our time out there. The propane BBQ was wrapped with some aluminum foil and we were unable to get it started anyway so that was fine too. Everything was great and I'm pretty sure we will return. Thanks!"

Hot tub was super relaxing. The cabin has a fun layout as well! - "The Victorian is a dream come true if you want to disconnect. The house, inside and out, was immaculate. We were especially impressed by the exterior - no cobwebs, bugs, mess, nothing, even under the porch! Bed is comfortable, style is updated and chic, and we did not want to leave! Grounds are well kept and walking the property was so awesome, with little bridges and sitting areas all around. We will be back!"

This house is located in the "new, happening" part of Colorado Springs. If you walk out the front door and go north two blocks, you will be in the middle of the best new restaurants, coffee shops, and microbreweries in Colorado Springs.

On the way, one block from your front door is Shuga's, which is renown for it's mountain-facing patio, menu, and specialty drinks. Watch the sun set over the Rocky Mountains at this or a variety of other venues a block away.

There are many wonderful restaurants and bars within walking distance. Just turn right out the door, take a left on Tejon street, and you will start passing them on your left within a block. The busiest district is two blocks away, on the corner of Tejon and Moreno.

There is ample parking on the street in front of the house. There are also is a beautiful network of bike trails nearby, as well as share-ride bicycle for rent within a block.

You are also a ten-minute drive from Garden of the Gods and Helen Hunt Falls, each of which boasts their own extensive trail networks and breathtaking views. - Please note that this home does not have central AC - offers window AC units that keep the home cool
- The home also does not have a washer/dryer in the unit currently as they are out of order. Thank you for understanding!
- A Maximum of two (2) pets are allowed at our home. Pet fee is $75 per pet.
- We've prepared a starter supply that includes coffee, paper towels, toilet paper, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, trash bags, dish detergent, laundry detergent, and soft white towels!
- Winter months do bring snowfall in Colorado and the potential for icy road conditions, we advise guests to consider opting for a vehicle equipped with 4WD (Four-Wheel Drive) or AWD (All-Wheel Drive) for a safer and more secure travel accommodations.
- Please be aware, there is no laundry access in this unit as well as no mailbox access. We are not responsible for lost mail.
