Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway located on 100 acres and nestled quietly on a private pond. Our family settled here in 1951. The farmhouse was built in 1921 and in 2018 we had the house moved down to the pond and did a full renovation while preserving as much original character as we could. Enjoy your morning coffee and watch the sunrise from the screen porch swing or one of the docks at the pond. The property has nature trails to explore, fishing, and plenty of wildlife.

We have three exterior security cameras, one that faces the front yard, one that faces the side yard by the back door and one that faces the dock by the pond.

There are three of us, including my teenage son, so the options seemed very limited. Since we had great success with VRBO for trips here in North Carolina, we thought 'why not give it a try,' and searched Alabama before rebooking the same hotel. That almost arbitrary decision resulted in a very pleasant experience for us that will be remembered. I should start by saying that Google Maps, our normal 'Go To,' did get us close to the property, but we had to use the car navigation to finish the trip. Once we successfully located the driveway and drove onto the property, we could see a beautiful pond located between a forested area and otherwise surrounded by fields. The house looked exactly as it did in the photos. It was a real treat. For the first part of our trip the weather limited our time for exploring the property. However, the parts that we did see were well maintained, and the serenity of the location was noteworthy. The little farmhouse that is at the center of the property is a gem. The rustic hard woods and homey details are naturally comfortable and did not feel staged. There was a lot of natural light, and fortunately for us with the weather being a little dreary, well placed powered lighting as well. The Wi-Fi worked well for us. I typically have to travel with some of my work. I had no issues logging on and staying connected. The television streaming services worked perfectly fine as well. There was one queen sized bed and a chair in the living room that folded out into a queen-sized sleeper - both very comfortable. The kitchen was well appointed. We cooked every day and enjoyed it. For a modestly sized property, everything felt very open and accessible. Overall, the home was clean and very comfortable for the three of us. We enjoyed our stay to the point were having the property available for us to lease again would be part of our trip planning for the next visit to Alabama. If you are a couple, or a small family visiting the Dothan area, I highly recommend Juju's Pond house for your stay."

This adorable cottage has a full, spacious kitchen(sink, refrigerator,stove/oven, microwave, dishwasher basic cooking needs),living room, dining room, bar seating,bedroom with a queen-sized bed, walk-in closet, and stack unit washer/dryer. We are convenient to ACOM and 30 minutes to Fort Rucker. There are 2 nearby parks as well as hospitals.

Enjoy a quiet stay just outside of town on a farm! Listen to the breeze whisper through the pines and relax in this peaceful country setting. The cottage is 2 miles north of Cottonwood and is just under 10 miles to The Ross Clark Circle in Dothan. Dothan has a lot to do…..shopping, dining, and entertainment. Also, the cottage is only a few miles from the Florida line and the Georgia line if you’re going there for something fun! WiFi is fast so working from the cottage is easy as well!

The Beasley Backwater Retreat is located on beautiful Lake Eufaula, between the historic towns of Abbeville and Eufaula. The house, built as a vacation house by my grandparents in 1963, is pretty much vintage, with some more modern conveniences, such as microwave, dishwasher, HVAC, internet access, and a Keurig. Located on a peaceful area of the lake, with a private dock and nice neighbors, it's a great place to get away from town and create fond memories--it certainly has been for us! Enjoy!

The space
The house has been painted, and has new roof, windows and gutters, and the dock has been updated. In addition, we now have a Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system, so the house should be comfortable for our guests when they arrive. As well, we have had a new metal roof and new insulation installed.

The inside of the house is mostly vintage—there are a few pieces of original furniture; the kitchen is pretty much original (we have added a dishwasher, microwave, toaster oven, Keurig, and an updated washer and dryer).

In the master bedroom (near the kitchen), you will find my grandmother’s original dresser as well as the reclining chair where she used to sit and watch TV (formerly in the living room). This room now has a queen-size bedroom set as well.

The two full bathrooms are original except for the showers, and we have replaced all of the original linoleum floors throughout the house.

In the guest (front) bedroom, you will find a rocking chair that my grandmother covered to match the former bedspreads she made along with an original small chest (I have recently repainted them). The bedroom now has twin beds to make the room more spacious.

In the main room, you will find my grandfather’s original dark green chest where he kept his pipe and other personal items. We have a sleeper sofa, so we can accommodate up to six guests. We have replaced the old tube TV with a flat-screen smart TV. We have internet via Wi-Fi connected to the TV so guests can stream TV from Roku, Netflix, etc.

In the dining room, there is a wood dining table with seating for six—I actually refinished the table top. And yes, my grandfather caught the bass that is mounted on the dining area wall!

Outside, you will find a big backyard. We have a charcoal grill on the carport—you will need to provide the charcoal. We also have six plastic chairs for use on the carport or in the yard. Feel free to bring your folding beach chairs to sit on outside or take down to the dock.

The dock is a very relaxing, peaceful place. Launch your boat at a local public boat launch and dock at our dock while there—we have a walking path to the dock, but no launch ramp. Bring any boating, fishing, hunting, or water sports gear you may need and bring bug spray and sun screen! Bring the appropriate fishing or hunting licenses, or they may be purchased at the Walmart in Eufaula or even Baker’s Landing.

Guests have access to the entire house (except for two closets used by the house keepers and us that are labeled Owners Closet), the yard, and the dock.

The WI-FI password is posted in the welcome book, on the side of the refrigerator, and on the coffee table.

Make yourself at home to any food , spices, and beverages from the kitchen cabinets (labeled) and refrigerator.

We are pet-friendly. If you have pet allergies, please let us know when you book so we can schedule a deep clean for pet dander.

We do not have a mailbox. USPS doesn't deliver to the house; however, UPS does deliver to the house.

Please pay careful attention when backing up that you don't hit the satellite dish.

We love children and pets, and welcome them at the Beasley Backwater Retreat; however, you are ultimately responsible for their actions, so please cover the living room furniture for pets, straighten/clean up after pet's or children’s messes, etc.

While we have a well-defined walking path from the yard to the lake, it is not designed as a road. At the end of the path, we do have an updated dock, but we do not have a ramp from which to launch your boat from your trailer.
There are numerous public boat ramps around the lake, the closest of which is about a mile away by car, Thomas Mill Creek Park. Feel free to launch your boat there and dock it at our dock while you are our guests.

Our dock is well-lit and has electrical outlets. The instructions for activating the yard light, dock lights, and electricity are posted in the house to the right of the lakeside door.

Our cottage home is in an excellent location-central to many great shops and restaurants. It is one of the first established neighborhoods in Dothan and is surrounded by beautiful live oaks and nature. This area is known as the Garden District.

There is a gas grill and fire pit on the patio if you want to stop relax and read a book out on the patio or do some grilling. Just check with us on the grill and we can get you started.

Other things to note
Please do not try to pet our dog by entering our backyard fenced in area. We have a 10 year old, loyal dog, loving to us but protective of our family. We keep her indoors,mostly and never let her roam freely. We want our guests to feel welcome but to keep everyone safe at all times!
We love our property and we take great pride in making a comfortable,safe place for guests. We ask that our guests treat our property with that same respect and keep it neat and tidy like it is upon arrival. As long term super hosts-we have a policy that all prospective guests have previously joined Air Band B and have former hosts who have given them positive reviews. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate guests who have no prior reviews.

One bedroom with king bed, pull out queen sofa bed in front living room. Couch in back den. One bathroom. Feel free to fish but we ask that you catch and release. You’ll need to bring your own fishing supplies. There are 4 kayaks and a paddle boat that can be used. There are two fire pit areas located on the property. We provide the wood for the one closest to the house.
