To the south-east are the open Atlantic and Port Mouton Island. A few minutes walk to the west lies the mile-long sandy beach of Summerville Provincial Park and the delectable Quarterdeck Grill seafood restaurant. To the south, across the bay, historic lighthouses, fishing boats and more sandy beaches await. If you are looking for the sights and sounds of the ocean right at your door, without giving up 'the comforts of home' this premium destination is one of the best on the South Shore of Nova Scotia.

Within Walking Distance: Start your day on the deck overlooking the waves. It spans the full width of the house with 350 sq feet fully enclosed, insulated and heated for year round use. Facing south west, it gets lots of sun even in winter. Retractable electrically operated awnings together with the latest in mini-split air-conditioning technology keep the house cool and provide welcome shade during the hotter days of summer.
After breakfast the sandy mile-long beach of Summerville Provincial Park is a six minute walk away. Here, aside from having a leisurely stroll on the sand, you may rent a kayak or surfboard then enjoy one of the 'Taste of Nova Scotia' featured restaurants - the popular Quarterdeck Grill.
At the far end of the beach, the Broad River presents a hiking opportunity: it is crossed by a trestle bridge of the abandoned Halifax to Yarmouth railway, which is now maintained as a trail through rugged, forested countryside.

If you enjoy clambering over rocks, that is also a great way to explore the immediate shoreline on which the house is located.

A stay at Ocean Surf Cottage can include dining at White Point Beach Resort (5mins drive away) as the Resort's dining room and lounge are open to the public, and well worth a visit, no to mention their on-site therapeutic massage services.

Within a Fifteen Minute Drive: Head south down Hwy 103 through Port Mouton to one of Nova Scotia's finest beaches: Carter's Beach - a series of three crescent shaped beaches with offshore islands reminiscent of the Caribbean (minus the palm trees of course). If you like quiet and natural, this is it, though it has become a favorite stopover for sailboats and the occasional tall ship.
Head east 5 minutes along the Lighthouse route and you'll find White Point Golf Club.
Continue to the Town of Liverpool, one of the oldest towns in the Province. Noted for its colorful maritime history, it is a treasure trove of historic homes, many of which date back to when captains of industry and of the sea vied for the most impressive homes. One of them is now a fascinating museum of local history.

Within a Forty-five Minute Drive: To the south (a twenty-minute drive) is the wild rocky coastline and surrounding natural splendour of the Seaside Adjunct of Kejimkujik National Preserve and its seal colonies. A 'must sea'.
In the opposite direction, the Town of Bridgewater sits on the LaHave River. There are wonderful scenic drives on both sides of the river down to the sea, from where you can follow the coast by road. Have lunch at the LaHave Bakery where they bake their own breads and pastries and continue on to the LaHave Islands, Crescent Beach and Petite Riviere.
Just beyond Bridgewater are quaint Mahone Bay and Unesco World Heritage sight, Lunenburg. The latter is home to the Bluenose a beautiful tall ship in port for daily excursions.

Located on Nova Scotia's South Shore, this beautifully renovated 2 bedroom cottage is within walking/biking distance of beautiful mile long Summerville beach. The open concept living and kitchen area with wall of windows offers expansive ocean views from practically anywhere in the house. Our back deck space is well furnished and is ideal for lounging, relaxing or casual dining. A private oceanfront hot tub , private barrel sauna and an outdoor fire pit are only steps away. Flat rocks on the ocean, accessible only from the property, provide a private sun deck ideal for sunbathing. Unwind and relax with breathtaking views and luxurious interiors.
Cosy cottage is private and has its own amenities, but our staff does use the garage to take supplies and laundry as needed in order to service tiny oceanfront retreat and designer oceanfront villa next door .We are planning on adding a private shed for the units next door soon , but until then we will need to access the garage.

The Hunts Point Cabana is located overlooking Hunts Point Beach. Hunts Point is a quaint fishing village 10 minutes from Liverpool. The cottage sleeps 6 people with a queen size master, a double and bunk beds. The cottage is very open and spacious which is great for entertaining and very helpful if the weather turns.

We are surrounded by the most beautiful beaches on the South Shore. The White Point Lodge is just up the Highway and offers golf, dining and many other services including surfing, kayaking and an indoor pool. Follow the highway South and you will find Summerville Beach and the Quarter Deck Restaurant (make reservations - the view is gorgeous). Summerville's mile long white sand beach is a wonderful walking beach. Next down the coast try a dip in Bare Hole, also known as Broad River. The locals can give you directions. Keep going a few more miles and you will find Carter's Beach which is breath taking, Port Joli and Thomas Raddall Park.

All doors and windows along the front face the water. You feel like you are floating in the middle of nature looking out onto a beautiful ocean bay. It's fabulous!

We would appreciate if kids don’t play with playdoh , water or slime inside the house . Furniture should not be moved . FirePit is not supposed to be moved . Garbage needs to sorted , Burn restrictions are to be followed. Water to be poured once fire pit is used . Only toilet paper to be flushed , we have a septic tank .

- "The scenery is excellent. You get to live beside the ocean, hearing the waves as you sleep in the night breeze. Very close to Summerville beach (5min). It is less known than Carter beach, but it has the same amazing view too. Cabin is clean and we'll equipped. - "We really enjoyed the place. It is right on the shore of the Atlantic, and very close to Summerville beach; a beautiful pristine beach. The guest house is compact but well equipped and sitting in the hot tub over the ocean is lovely. There is a twin cottage right beside this one, with a huge shared deck with divider for good privacy. Location is close to aforementioned beach lus Liverpool and local restaurants. Highway 3 is good for cycling. I would come again. I would say best suited to a couple though you can squeeze 2 more kids with pullout sofa. Additionally there is a big plexiglass dome on the deck for more covered living space. Thanks for a great stay"

THE COTTAGE
Bungalow 1940s updated cottage with comfortable decor. The hygge concept with wood burning fire stove. DUnwind and unplug; there is no internet—the garage stores wood for the wood stove and space for any of your gear (bikes or kayaks). Side deck to enjoy a drink. Quaint neighbourhood tree-lined street. Scenic short drive to many gorgeous beaches.

Bathroom supplies & towels, plus beach towels provided. Daybed functions as a couch with two rocking chairs. Desk for working. There is no A/C; there are fans in each bedroom. Three bedrooms include two twin beds each. In one room, they are pushed together to function as a king bed; in another, they are bunk beds & in the last, they are just twin beds! Sleeps 6 comfortably; please let us know if you need more space for additional guests - there are options to accommodate. Eat in the kitchen is set up for basic cooking needs. The antique Scandinavian-designed kitchen table expands to seat six white chairs.

Also, convenient for access to the Fundy Rose with Bay Ferries sailing daily with departures from Saint John, NB, to Digby (NS). It is a 2-hour drive from Digby to Shelburne.

This modern beach house offers more than just panoramic sunrise views of beautiful Port Mouton Bay, more than private access to the white sandy beach. While listening to the sound of the rolling sea, you may find peace. It is a perfect escape!

MAIN FLOOR

Floor-to-ceiling windows run the length of the main floor, letting light and sunshine in. and you. From the small living area and the dining room you overlook all of the Bay and can let yourself be captured by its beauty. In the morning, you may sit back and watch spectaculars sunrises.

KITCHEN
Guests love our kitchen. It is very well equipped and has everything you might need to prepare any meal. Eating from the elegant Susan Conran tableware adds to the pleasure of every meal. The dining table is handmade from wood grown on the property, The dining area is more than just a place to dine: with an oven bench on one side and a leather bench on the other, the table is the perfect place to socialise, chat and spend quality time. - It's comforting to know that this table is made from wood that was once a tree, grown and nurtured on this land.
From here, you can access the deck and its enclosed dining area. We also provide a gas BBQ.

DECK
The wraparound deck invites you to sunbathe, relax in an Adirondack chair and end the day by the fire pit beneath the Milky Way.

BEDROOMS
Nights are amazing in the huge master bedroom with two queen beds and 4 skylights for stargazing, and a window front overlooking the bay.
Downstairs there is a bedroom with two twin beds and an adjacent bathroom. There also is a cozy little den with one sleep.

LIVING / TV ROOM
The large TV room is also located on the lower floor. Our comfortable Rolf Benz corner sofa is perfect for chilling out, watching a film or just hanging out. We do not have cable TV, but you can use a Fire Stick or DVD player. We also have a large collection of older DVDs - a pleasure to watch old movies and share memories.

READING ROOM
Right off the upstairs living room, there is a small room with a sofa and book shelves. It may be used to retreat, read, as a playroom, or just lying on the sofa, thinking nothing and looking at the ocean... That's how vacations work!

SAUNA 1: log sauna
The attraction we are most proud of is our log sauna in the backyard. The wood-burning stove provides the perfect sauna climate and we are sure that sauna lovers will appreciate it! A subsequent dip in the cold plunge tub will awaken all your senses.

SAUNA 2: infrared sauna
If you are looking for a just quick sauna event, feel free to use the infrared sauna. Just turn it on and wait for 30 minutes. The infrared heat penetrates more deeply and allows you to experience a more intense sweat at a lower temperature and stay in the sauna longer.

BACKYARD
Just underneath the master bedroom and right next to the backyard is an extremely spacious screen room! You can relax on the sofa or just hang out whenever you feel like it. At the back of this room, you'll find the infrared sauna, and at the other end, there is a large table with chairs. It is also perfect for activities with children and family!

Outside the screen room, the backyard offers a round wooden table and five chairs. The vibrant colours of the furniture always put me in a good mood just by looking at them.

OCEANSIDE LAWN
Facing the ocean, behind the house there is a lawn. Most of the property is fenced in - but do not rely on it, the fence may have a weak point through which a clever dog can escape.

ROADSIDE LAWN
The lawn in front of the house is big enough to play badminton, fly kites or play other games.

PATH TO THE BEACH
A small path is leading down to the beach, which will not take longer than may be three minutes. Kids can play in the white sand, you may dip your toes into the Atlantic ocean and simply stroll along the water's edge.
After long periods of rain there may be a small stream before you get to the beach. You may have to take your shoes off and walk through the water.

Harbour Tide House is a beautifully appointed, newly renovated 3 bedroom cottage overlooking the Port Mouton Wharf.
The cottage has a fully equipped spacious kitchen, a large living room with a wood burning fireplace and comfortable seating for reading or watching the Apple TV. There is a separate dining room for hosting delicious seafood meals, or family game nights. A cozy reading nook with chaise lounge creates a quiet getaway – a place to curl up with a good book or indulge in an afternoon nap.
There are three bedrooms: one downstairs and two upstairs. The ground floor bedroom has a queen size bed and views of the back garden. The master bedroom, upstairs, has a king size bed and sunrise views over the harbour. The second upstairs bedroom has a twin bed with a pack and playpen for little visitors to use. The 3 piece cottage bathroom is on the ground floor.
A deck with a propane BBQ and lawn furniture extends the living space.

We are delighted to share our family cottage with you. This rustic and simple cabin was built by our family and has been a respite from daily life for decades. Enjoy views of Summerville Beach during the day and fall asleep to the sound of the waves crashing on the shore at night.

3 minute walk to Summerville Beach, 10 minute drive to White Point Resort, 15 minute drive to Liverpool, 90 minutes from YHZ airport. Beaches, Lighthouses, and more are all nearby.

The space
Our Aunt Verna and Uncle Fred built this special seaside retreat in the 1950s. This cottage is best suited for 1-3 persons but sleeps 5.

Kitchen includes 2 induction burners, microwave, small fridge with separate freezer, toaster, electric kettle, and plenty of counter space. A small charcoal grill is provided for use outdoors should you so choose (charcoal not included).

Half bath includes new fixtures as of 2018. As of 2025 we have transitioned to an incinerating toilet. The toilet is simple to use and very sanitary. If you have questions about it, please ask.

The only shower on the premises is a fully functioning outdoor shower. Indoor showers available at nearby independent Hostel or Resort for small fee.

Bedrooms include doors with latches for privacy. Note that walls are simple partitions that terminate just above the height of the doors - they do not extend fully to the top of the ceiling.

The cottage is most enjoyable with 3 or fewer persons per night.

The sheep are friendly. They enjoy apples, carrots, and bread. They are cared for by their local owners who may, from time to time, visit them during your stay. Several of the pastures have an electric fence. Please exercise caution when near it.

Ticks are a nuisance throughout the province. Avoid walking in long grass and brush. Use DEET, or similar repellant, on shoes and pants legs. A daily tick-check is prudent.

There are a few patches of poison ivy near the shore. Please stay on the mowed path to avoid it.

Due to the sheep on the property, this is not a pet-friendly rental. We cannot accommodate dogs.

Guests can purchase a day pass to access amentities at WhitePoint, such as pools and the boathouse. Just a 10 minute walk over to the resort and beach from the cottage or a quick drive. Take in the beauty of the sunrise and sunsets from the beach, no matter the time of year. Lots of local beaches to choose from: Meadows, Summerville, & Carter's.

The rock room has a futon ( double bed) There are 5 washrooms in the house, 2 of which have a shower and bathtub. The rest of the 3 washrooms are half baths .
