The home is set up for self check-in. You will receive the instructions from VRBO 3 days prior to occupancy with a code to the lockbox You will have exclusive access to the entire home, master garden and deck. The detached garage is not accessible for guests.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:
The home is set back from a detached garage. The detached garage is occasionally used by the owner as an art studio. Occupancy is sporadic and the owner will notify occupants if it will be in use. It is sound and visually detached from the main house and privacy of the VRBO rental guests is respected. One driveway parking space is reserved for owner use.
Please respect the serenity of the neighborhood. This home is on a private road and out of consideration to the serenity and goodwill of neighbors, it is not available for unauthorized parties or gatherings beyond the registered guests. . We restrict late night gathering on the deck but feel free to move you laughter and music indoors after 10pm; check out the extensive vinyl record collection.
Our wifi is excellent. Cellular reception is best with Verizon but may be spotty. ATT reception is poor or non existant. Landline has free domestic long distance calling. If there is a problem with the WiFi, it is usually due to problems with the substation and the owner should be notified to contact ATT for service call.

Neighborhood:
The home is located in a quiet neighborhood on a private road on the Point Reyes Mesa. Observe the 5 mph speed limit while entering or exiting the private road, Overlook Road, to our home. The town is very walkable and has many great places to visit, including Bovine Bakery, Tomales Bay Foods, and Station House Cafe.

Getting around:
There is free parking at the property. It is approximately one mile to walk or bike into the town of Point Reyes Station There are miles of beautiful country roads popular with avid cyclists, as well as 140 miles of hiking trails in the Point Reyes National Seashore.
No outside visitors without prior permission. Please keep outside noise to a minimum after dark out of respect for our neighbors. This home is not for parties/events/celebrations.

The cottage is freshly built and is nestled away in the back of a property located in one of the Point Reyes village rural neighborhoods. Taking the raised pathway to the house, it feels like you have entered your own secret garden and are far away, yet you are less than a mile from downtown Point Reyes village and shops. Without getting back into your car, you can walk down the easy back trail right into town.

Immaculate kitchen with huge granite island that spans the great room for easy cooking, conversation, and Netflix movies. Blender, oven, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and French coffee press, wine and other glasses, all dishes, pots & pans. Fridge and sink provide filtered water. Fridge icemaker and water easily accessed on front panel. Two beds: a new queen in the bedroom, twin daybed in the living room.

Large covered front porch for morning coffee or spectacular sunset views over Inverness Ridge - rain or shine. House is surrounded by grass and gardens with views all around. It sits near a former seasonal pond that is long gone, but still the ducks and birds fly around the yard as if they remember. The sunny location allows for enjoyment of the outdoors year-round. Sitting on the porch, or in the hot tub, under the black and starry night sky or watching the winter storms roll in are experiences that will ease your mind and enliven your senses. Having the comforts of WIFI and phone will keep you connected while finding yourself in the beauty of a small village.

The house is completely independent from the other dwelling on the property and is set apart with zen-like privacy screens. Guests have their own parking space. Smoking and pets are not allowed. House is located just 3.5 miles from the Point Reyes National Seashore visitor center where you can get information regarding the beaches, bay, lagoon, estero, forests, meadows, wild life, birds, creeks, rivers, trails. Birds are abundant, including resident Pileated Woodpeckers and many others changing with the seasons. Ravens and hawks ride the winds out over the canyon. Scan the gardens or the meadow below and you may see deer, or even a fox or bobcat.

This classic Inverness style home was designed and built by local architect Jim Campe in 1986. The living room, bedrooms, decks and hot tub all face out over forested parkland to Tomales Bay and the hills beyond. In the main living area wood and tile floors and high, beamed ceilings create an expansive and elegant atmosphere, while clearstory windows capture the afternoon sun. Just down the hall, the carpeted master suite features a king-size bed and large private bathroom with two sinks, giant tub and walk-in shower.

Downstairs are two additional bedrooms with a shared second bathroom. A queen-size bed and TV in one of the bedrooms make it great for a second couple. The other is just right for kids, with two twin beds. A large inflatable mattress and porta-crib are also available if needed. Step out onto the downstairs porch to access the private hot tub.

An additional office room upstairs includes a sofa/daybed that can be made up for yet another sleeping option. The Robin's Nest is a cottage home surrounded by decks and a lovely flower garden and located in the heart of the Point Reyes National Seashore.

The Robin's Nest was built as a hunting and fishing retreat in the 1920's when people came to the area by boat, train and stage coach. It is located in a residential area overlooking Tomales Bay in a sun belt. It is 3 miles from the Point Reyes National Seashore headquarters and the park trail system. It is 2 miles from the town of Point Reyes Station which is the regional center(although only has a population of 500) with restaurants, an excellent grocery store and various shops. The Point Reyes lighthouse is approximately 15 miles out to the coast and provides an excellent vantage point where the whales pass by twice a year .

Inverness Park and the Robin's Nest are 38 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge so it is readily accessible to San Francisco. Because it is located in the National Seashore and along the coast line, it is in a protected zone so the surroundings are rural even though so close to the urban attractions of the Bay Area.

The house has a living room, dining area, kitchen, two bedrooms and two baths. A third bedroom and bath are located in a separate smaller building behind the main house. The two buildings are totally surrounded by approximately 900 square feet of decking which allows for taking full advantage of the outdoors.

There is a sauna and one of the bathrooms in the main house has a steam bath, so getting the ache out after a long run or hike is no problem.

The house is well equipped with a gas grill, TV (with cable tv) WiFi , and comfortable furniture and art work reflecting the Latin American travels of the owners. The kitchen has necessary cooking equipment, a self cleaning electric stove and basic cooking condiments.

The house is heated by a Vermont castings wood burning stove and there is plenty of fire wood. Electric heaters are available to supplement the wood stove while it heats up.

The fence and gate hide the garden treasure behind its walls. The house is comfortable, though a little musty at first but that soon dissipated with all the double doors open. The kitchen met all our needs as did the rest of the house. Our only issues were with the departure instructions which we found to be a little confusing and the skylight blinds in the living room, otherwise it was all we could hope for."

Minutes to the Point Reyes National Seashore Beaches, Amazing Hiking and Wildlife, and you are also a day trip to San Francisco & Wine Country. San Francisco is an easy trek over the Golden Gate Bridge, or by Larkspur Ferry across the Bay.

For the Thalassophile, there are beaches, surfing, ocean kayaking, sea cave explorations, and of course, Humpback, Gray Whale, and Great White migrations. The Gray Whale migrations are southbound in January and northbound with their calves in late March / April. The Great White Shark finding expeditions to the Greater Farallon National Marine Sanctuary take place in September / October. Often, you can see the whales from the beach. Additionally, the Tomales Bay Bioluminescence kayak trips are in spring and fall, and water activity rentals are to be found in town. However, you can find your beach bag here, ready to go.

If Wine is your passion, spend your days tasting and touring the wineries of Sonoma, Russian River, Dry Creek, and Napa, to name a few, also about an hour or so away.

Tahoe skiing is 4 hours away.
Yosemite hiking is 4 hours (But no need to travel too far, hiking the local National Seashore is fantastic, and draws people from all over the world).

Once you have your wine, or are famished from a day of hiking and/ or beach fun, cooking in the gourmet kitchen is a joy. The view from the kitchen is magnificent, stocked with quality home / commercial equipment, and the wonderful farmer's market goods, so anyone will feel like a chef. If you can't get enough of outdoor activities and cooking & dining "al fresco" is to your taste, there is a commercial gas grill and ample seating on the patio.
Better yet, just grab a glass of wine and relax on the patio, and watch the sunset reflect on the water below.

At the end of the day, too exhausted from hiking, beach, or wine to continue, or just want to curl up with a good book, you have a choice of two bedrooms.
The master bedroom has a comfy latex California King mattress with quality linens. The master bath has a separate shower & soaking tub, with a towel warmer, bidet, and double sinks, also with quality bath linens. The Spa / Hot tub is off the master bedroom patio, but also accessible to the other rooms.

The second bedroom has a comfortable queen-size bed, quality linens, and an en suite bathroom with a shower. And its own patio.
There is an additional half-bath downstairs.
This home has reliable wireless service throughout the house.
There are no pets allowed in the home, but no doubt you will have a chance to view the numerous "wildlife pets" who make their home in the forest or hills surrounding this home.

CLEANLINESS
The cleaning charge is high because we require a cleaning crew due to the size of the house - 5000 sq ft.. This is for routine cleaning and Covid sterile cleaning. In the midst of COVID, we are taking extra precautions. We follow CDC guidelines and thoroughly ‘clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces (with each new reservation) in household common areas (e.g. tables, hard-backed chairs, doorknobs, light switches, remotes, handles, desks, toilets, sinks).’ We extend this to countertops, cabinet & drawer knobs, railings, window sills, floors, and all bathroom surfaces. We wash and dry all towels, sheets, pillows, pillowcases, and blankets on high heat for extended time. Disposable gloves are used for all cleaning.

The Neighbourhood

Our house is located in one of the most convenient location in the Point Reyes Station area, minutes from downtown, from the Tamales Bay Oyster Company, from Point Reyes National Seashore. Downtown Point Reyes Station, home of the popular Bovine Bakery, Station House Cafe, Point Reyes Books and the Saturday Farmer's market at Toby's Feed Barn is short drive to the house. The downtown features many wonderful shops and restaurants including Susan Hayes Handwovens, Zuma, Cafe Reyes, Stellina, the Point Reyes Surf Shop and Flower Power. Please see our digital guidebook for a list of our recommendations.

The living area with vaulted ceilings, large windows with expansive views includes a flat screen TV/DVD player, free WiFi. It features a comfortable seating to enjoy the views of the surrounding property, forest, and further views of the Inverness ridge. Two lovely bedrooms, one with a kind bed, the other one with 2 twin beds are on each side of the house, each with their brand new/renovated bathroom. A third and magical bedroom is on 180 degrees windows room, which will make you feel like you're camping in the forest (this bedroom gets cold in the winter, so if you're sensitive to low temperatures and have a group larger than 4, please be aware of this). All linens are provided.

We have strict NO-SMOKING and NO-PET policies.

Note that the county of Marin requires us to collect a 14% occupancy tax, which will be computed in your booking cost. For the techies out there, the house provides fast Internet, a Sonos system to play your favourite Pandora/Spotify streamed music, a Chromecast key to play your Netflix or Youtube videos.

There is free parking at the property. The town of Point Reyes Station is very walkable, but for all other points of interest, a car or bicycle is best. There are miles of beautiful country roads popular with avid cyclists, as well as 140 miles of hiking trails in the Point Reyes National Seashore.
No outside visitors without prior permission. Please keep outside noise to a minimum after dark out of respect for our neighbors. This home is not for parties/events/celebrations. I do manage other homes in the area which could work better, please inquire. We do have noise-sensitive neighbors, so please be considerate.

1. PEACE & QUIET. The house is on a quiet, dead-end street. Neighbors who live on the forested Inverness Ridge tend to value the peace and quiet of nature. So an important guideline for guests at the house is that your group not be too noisy. Neighbors enjoy the still of the night, the hooting of the owls, the rustling of the trees. Keeping good relations with them is crucial for us to be able to offer this house to guests. So we ask guests to not be rowdy, especially outdoors, especially at night. 2. FIRE SAFETY. There is absolutely no smoking anywhere on the property, indoors or out. No fires are allowed anywhere except in the living room fireplace and only the use of the provided firelogs are permitted. Particularly during the dry season (late summer & fall) we ask guests to be super vigilant about fire safety.

3. DAMAGE, WEAR AND TEAR. Please treat the house gently, as if it were your own. Please let us know if anything has broken or isn't working. If it is normal wear and tear, of course we will take responsibility to right things. But if your group has caused damage beyond normal wear and tear, we would appreciate your telling me about it, and taking financial responsibility for its repair.

The Maple Cottage was designed by the owners to be a sanctuary for guests to their home.
Surrounded by forest, Japanese gardens and water features, Maple cottage boasts large custom windows on all sides that let in ample light and provide views of the surrounding garden.
The quiet, stand-alone cottage is nestled in between the two houses on the property. The garden patio offers views of Tomales Bay.
Guests park in a designated parking area and a lit path leads you to the cottage.

The spacious room has a king bed with organic cotton linens and cozy blankets. There is a mini fridge with a Keurig coffee maker, coffee, 1/2 and 1/2, sugar, a wine opener, wine glasses, a cutting board and a cheese knife. Please note we do not have cooking facilities. A small bistro table serves as a work station or a place to sit and enjoy your coffee. There is WiFi, Bluetooth sound, a reading armchair and original photography and art. Cell service is not strong so please download info before your arrival.
While we don't have cooking options at Maple Cottage, there are terrific restaurants in West Marin; Saltwater Cafe, Station House Cafe, Due West, Tony's Oyster and Seafood, Nick's Cove, Side Street Kitchen and Cafe Reyes.

The house is located on a private road. From this road, guests will turn onto the driveway, follow signs for unit 40A, and park in the designated parking area. The path to the cottage leads around the garden to the right. Follow the signs marked with a Japanese maple leaf.

Our team will be available as much as you need during your stay. Please reach out should you need anything.

This is a desirable, forested area of West Marin: private, yet close to all beaches, hikes, Point Reyes National Seashore, Tomales Bay, Point Reyes Station and Inverness.

Best reached by private car, but bicycles are welcomed! The Bear Valley Visitors Center is a little over 2 miles walk via the Olema Marsh and Kule Loklo trails.

- "I am disabled and was very clear about my medical condition and needs for a VRBO house. The owner is a developer and behaves as such. He repeatedly ignored my statements about needing a clean house. Housecleaners showed up unannounced and told me they have not been there in 2 months. Owner says he’s been reported for bed bugs before but they are “just ladybugs.” I awoke to Spiders crawling on my face. I caught my dog near mice feces next to the bed. The bugs in this house look like they are from a sci fi movie, they are huge and have actual fangs (took photos, provided to VRBO who did nothing about any of this). Owner refused to correct my dates of stay, refused to communicate, and put me in a very overpriced dump. I am still dealing with the medical issues being in this house caused for me. This is the most disgusting house I have ever been attempted to be charged money for staying in and have whole moth colony hatching inside on every floor. Thick spiderwebs everywhere because there are so many bugs to eat in this house. This owner has no business dealing with dwellings people sleep in and money, he had left moldy rotting food in tbe refrigerator. Mold in the shower. My dog got bit inside the house by a disease carrying tick I had to pull off of her. This is a true house of horrors and VRBO is complicit in assisting the owner to scam and harm people. Do not go near this death trap. The owner acts like a classic negligent developer. Be warned"

The home features four bedrooms and four bathrooms, with two of the bedrooms offering en-suite bathrooms. This layout is designed for flexibility for our guests, comfortably accommodating up to 4 couples, or two families with kids, making it perfect for a shared getaway to explore the surrounding beaches, hikes, and incredible food.

We’ve designed the space to be simple and clean, allowing you to fully rest and enjoy your stay.

Guests have exclusive access to the house. Entry is down a long private driveway then through a solid electronic entry gate to the parking area. Very private and very secure.

Confirmed guests will be provided with self check-in instructions, including driveway gate code and keyless entry combo for the house.
We have someone available 7 days a week to respond if anything comes up, but otherwise we respect the privacy of our guests.
The owners do have a 2nd home (for their own occasional use) next door which also shares the parking area.

2. The home is professionally cleaned with eco-friendly products.

3. Commencing after sunset, the designated ”'quiet time” policy takes effect outdoors. As the home is situated within an exceptionally serene neighborhood, noise travels easily during nighttime hours. In consideration of our neighbors and the collective harmony of our home-sharing community, we kindly request adherence to this regulation. Please ask us for alternative accommodation if this does not work for you and we’d be happy to help find a place!

4. No chores for our guests! That’s what the cleaning fee is for, right? We have a fantastic team of housekeepers, some of whom have worked with us for over 10 years. We fully clean each home top to bottom, fully restocking all amenities, replacing worn-out items, and keeping things fresh and pleasant for our guests. We use top-notch cleaning products without annoying scents or chemicals, and our cleaners are paid living wages because they are the backbone of what we do and you’ll appreciate their attention to detail.

5. No pets are allowed at this stay. If you are looking for accommodations that allow pets, we can refer you to one of our other properties which welcomes dogs. Violation of either of these rules will incur a minimum $500 cleaning fee.

6. No additional guests without prior approval.

7. Guests will be responsible for any damages or charges incurred by them during their stay. Please alert us right away if something is broken or amiss.

8. We reserve the right to enforce charges via the Airbnb Resolutions Center for damages or unreasonable use of listing utilities. Abuse of house amenities may result in post-reservation charges equal to the value of costs incurred. By booking our listing, you agree to these terms and all other house rules.

Your unit has a full kitchen so if you want to take a break from eating out, you can dine in & prepare a beautiful dinner using local organic produce after a quick trip to The Palace, our local grocery store. Your kitchen comes complete w/glasses, dishes, utensils, and cookware. We know how important that first cup of coffee is in the morning or that relaxing cup of tea in the afternoon so we keep your coffee/tea station stocked w/coffee & an assortment of teas. The washer/dryer in your unit makes your stay easy and low key. The Herons Nest is a serene private Cottage in a beautiful location in the Point Reyes National Seashore. It is set on 2 acres with sweeping views of Tomales Bay. The attached Cottage was renovated blending a modern design with the original Cedar Interior.

You can view the Herons flying across the bay from the deck. The area is a prime location for outdoor enthusiasts with activities like hiking, biking, kayaking, and sailing. The scenic town of Point Reyes is 10 minutes away.

Our property is suited for nature lovers, folks who want a getaway from the hustle and bustle of city and suburban life and adventure seekers who want to hike and explore the many trails right in front of our doorstep.

You can expect an elevated hostel experience with many communal spaces. We are located in a quiet, secluded valley 15 minutes from Point Reyes Station and we are the ONLY accommodation inside the boundaries of the seashore.

The space
The Meadow Suite is a small modern building adjacent to the Laguna House. It consists of three small, cozy, private queen rooms and two shared half baths just outside the rooms. One half bath has a toilet and sink, the other has a shower and a sink.

Each private room has one queen bed and shares a bathroom with the other two rooms. The max capacity of the Meadow House is 6 people. This is a room, not an entire house.

Guest access
For cooking, eating and hanging out, you will also have access to the Farmhouse living room, kitchen, dining room and all outdoor areas including the patio with gas grill. These areas are shared, communal spaces and the main gathering point for guests of the Bunkhouse, Farmhouse and Meadow Suite.

During your stay
Staff are available onsite between 9:30am and 8pm. Reception is generally closed from 11am to 4pm.

Other things to note
We have telescopes, binoculars, bird I.D. charts, beach chairs, and a bunch of other cool stuff for guests to use and borrow. The kitchens are fully equipped with appliances, dishware and utensils and we even have coffee for you to enjoy. All bedding is provided, just bring your food and sense of adventure and you're all set for an amazing time!

The Maple Cottage was designed by the owners to be a sanctuary for guests to their home.
Surrounded by forest, Japanese gardens and water features, Maple cottage boasts large custom windows on all sides that let in ample light and provide views of the surrounding garden.
The quiet, stand-alone cottage is nestled in between the two houses on the property. There is a garden patio for guests.
Guests park in a designated parking area and a lit path leads you to the cottage.

The space
The spacious room has a king bed with organic cotton linens and cozy blankets. There is a mini fridge with a Keurig coffee maker, coffee, 1/2 and 1/2, sugar, a wine opener, wine glasses, a cutting board and a cheese knife. Please note we do not have cooking facilities. A small bistro table serves as a work station or a place to sit and enjoy your coffee. There is WiFi, Bluetooth sound, a reading armchair and original photography and art. Cell service is not strong so please download info before your arrival.
While we don't have cooking options at Maple Cottage, there are terrific restaurants in West Marin; Saltwater Cafe, Station House Cafe, Due West, Tony's Oyster and Seafood, Nick's Cove, Side Street Kitchen and Cafe Reyes.

The house is located on a private road. From this road, guests will turn onto the driveway, follow signs for unit 40A, and park in the designated parking area. The path to the cottage leads around the garden to the right. Follow the signs marked with a Japanese maple leaf.

Our house is in a small quiet col de sac. 5 minute walk from Point Reyes downtown with shops, market, and Tomales Bay Foods. Penny's Place offers the comforts of home, fully-equipped kitchen, large yard, and quiet refuge within a three-block walk to downtown Pt. Reyes. Great for a family - basketball hoops across the street at the Dance Palace, lots of room indoors & out, and easy access to all West Marin has to offer. Near great restaurants, grocery, bookstore and more. Absolutely no parties or guests not on the reservation.

The space
Our house is quiet - a perfect place for a relaxing getaway. We have a senior retirement center on one side and quiet, friendly neighbors on the other. Absolutely no parties allowed here. Everything was remodeled a few years ago - the floors, paint, mattresses are all new and as green as possible. There is a full bathroom upstairs and a half-bath downstairs. Large, private front and back yard, hammock, swing, fruit trees. We have plenty of games, strong internet and streaming channels on the TV monitor and a brand new gas barbecue.
We call the house Penny’s Place in memory of Penelope, our chocolate lab who, despite two hip replacements, loved to run around the yard and find a nice patch of sunlight to spend an afternoon. We hope you enjoy our home as much as she did!

You have full access to the two bedrooms, 1.5 baths, large kitchen and living room. Of course, the yard is great for playing frisbee or reading on a lawn chair. When the fruit trees are blooming, you can help yourself to a few peaches or loquats (a cross between an apricot and kumquat) from the large tree in the backyard. One bedroom, the garage, and sheds in the backyard are inaccessible to guests.

Other things to note
We have wifi throughout the house if you want to stream movies on your computer. We also have a flat screen monitor and DVD's you are welcome to watch and you can stream Netflix, HBO, YouTube and several other services via our Roku. There are plenty of current books and magazines in the house for you to read during your stay. We also have local maps and a guidebook to the area's beaches and trails that you are welcome to borrow. There is an outdoor Ring doorbell camera on the front door that is active at all times. We have oils, spices, teas and other cooking basics for your use. We also have a coffee bean grinder and coffee maker (but don't provide the coffee).

Truly a one of kind handmade, solar powered home of local materials filled with arts and crafts by local artists and treasures we have collected from around the world. Described by guests as “Asian Vintage” this sunny home sets perched above a year round creek and is surrounded by mature gardens and a forest of bay, oak and fir.

About an hour from San Francisco and the Sonoma and Napa Valleys, 1.5 miles from Point Reyes Station and 2 miles from the Point Reyes National Seashore Visitors Center and Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Easily access beaches, waterways and parkland for hiking, swimming, surfing, kayaking, SUP boarding, mountain biking and all that West Marin has to offer. Or just enjoy unwinding in this comfortable and beautiful setting. Stroll down to the Inverness Park Market and Tap Room at the end of the street and enjoy some of the best food and drink in the area with a very local vibe.

Entering the upstairs you will find a large living/dining/kitchen space constructed of huge beams, wide plank fir floors from wood milled on the property, a bank of windows with a bird's eye view of the forest and a large stained glass window. A fully equipped kitchen and stocked pantry allows you to cook up the bounty of Point Reyes farmers and purveyors on our vintage O’Keefe and Merritt stove. There is a dishwasher, microwave, toaster, mixer, coffee maker and blender. A Balinese dining table of coconut wood and tiger bamboo seats 6. The living area offers a comfortable pullout couch with a memory foam mattress. There is wifi and a smart TV with steaming Netflix, Hulu Plus and Amazon prime. Or enjoy any of the DVDs from our small library. A stereo tuner with an aux cable allows you to stream music from your 2.5mm jack equipped device. A deck off the living room has a table, chairs and a small gas BBQ. Also on the main floor is a sunroom with floor to ceiling glass and a glass roof, Balinese bamboo furniture, breakfast table and a side deck. The bathroom has a claw foot tub and shower. There is central heating with the thermostat located in the living area.

Downstairs is a large, plush carpeted bedroom surrounded with rock walls, huge beams, a queen sleigh bed, lounge area, flat screen TV and a wood stove. Also a small, bright bedroom with a single bed and a small deck attached. An ante room between the bedrooms contains a wash sink and leads to a private rock walled, slate tile floored area with a dual head outdoor shower and hot tub. There is a laundry room for your use with a full sized washer, dryer, utility sink and linen storage.

Outside you will find a stone patio with table, chairs and umbrella.

There is a carport for 2 cars.

Our son, David, lives on the property in a small separate cabin and serves as manager and caretaker. He will most likely be your point of contact here on Airbnb and throughout your stay.

A uniquely designed, rustic cabin with sweeping views of the National Park and Black Mnt, located along the Inverness Ridge Trail - hiking and biking excursions right out the door. The cabin is next to a wood-shop which is not part of the living space and is unfinished,. There is a deck with views and a terraced yard. The road is steep and gravel paved, the cabin is atop the ridge at road’s end. Not for those seeking hotel-like experience - but immersed in nature and inspiring.

The space
This 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom elegantly rustic brown shingle cabin is in a magical setting with old Inverness charm. The former hunting lodge is rich in original old growth redwood cabinetry and is nestled in the treetops overlooking Tomales Bay and surrounded by lush, ever-blooming gardens (great for birdwatching!).

The InverNest features a multi-level outdoor area perfect for entertaining or kicking back to relax. The outdoor lounge area is soaked in all-day sun… but even after the sun sets you can turn on the twinkle lights and enjoy the patio long into the evening. The patio also features a hot tub, a gas grill, an outdoor dining area, custom-made fountains, and countless plant varieties.

The house itself has 2 bedrooms, each with its own en suite bathroom. Every bed in the house is dressed with organic cotton sheets and deliciously comfy bedding. The “Garden Bedroom” is located on the main floor of the house. It has one Queen size bed and a full bathroom with a clawfoot bathtub/shower combo. The “Bohemian Bedroom” is on the first floor of the house and features 2 double beds. It also has a full bath with a stand-up shower.

The House is on a hill overlooking the Tomales Bay tidal marsh. It is the last house up a private road. It is isolated by trees and vegetation from its neighbors. The only artificial light visible at night comes from farmsteads on the slope of the hill across the bay. At night the silence is nearly total. Tree frogs croak in the spring. The house is offered "as is" and without any warranty regarding its safety or as to any defects it may have. Use care on the outdoor staircase. It can be slippery when wet and the last step down particularly, if missed, could cause a fall.

The space
This classic Inverness style home was designed and built by local architect Jim Campe in 1986. The living room, bedrooms, decks and hot tub all face out over forested parkland to Tomales Bay and the hills beyond. In the main living area wood and tile floors and high, beamed ceilings create an expansive and elegant atmosphere, while clearstory windows capture the afternoon sun. Just down the hall, the carpeted master suite features a king-size bed and large private bathroom with two sinks, giant tub and walk-in shower.

Downstairs are two additional bedrooms with a shared second bathroom. A queen-size bed and TV in one of the bedrooms make it great for a second couple. The other is just right for kids, with two twin beds. A large inflatable mattress and porta-crib are also available if needed. Step out onto the downstairs porch to access the private hot tub.

An additional office room upstairs includes a sofa/daybed that can be made up for yet another sleeping option. WiFi from a cable Internet connection is available throughout, and there's a small computer in the office if you didn't bring your laptop. Cable TV is present upstairs and down, as well as a stereo system in the living room. CDs, games, puzzles, art and many books are here for your enjoyment.

The driveway has parking for two cars, three if the others get blocked in. Note there are steps leading down from the driveway to the front door.

Our home is perched at the top of Inverness Ridge with a stunning view of the Pacific Ocean, Farallon Islands, and the Point Reyes National Seashore. Absolute peace, fresh air, and a five minute stroll from park trails. Quiet and crime free, the Artist Retreat is worlds apart from urban excitement. Guests are amazed by its beauty.
Being at the top of a ridge, it is a 11/2 mile drive to get there. The road is quite steep with many turns.

The space
Created by the two artists from their own design, this retreat has all the comforts of a lodge in the woods: a bath large enough for two, double shower heads, new towels and linens, a gourmet kitchen with a Dynasty range, great music, a giant living/dining room with amazing picture windows and a 20 foot ceiling. The house is a green design, with passive solar heating plus a Swiss Woodstove and central heating. The bathroom is tiled with tumbled Italian marble. A futon is available for an extra guest and there is a queen size bed that can be brought into the living room. The house is ideally suited for a couple.

Guests have free access to the house and grounds. There is an expansive deck which overlooks the National Seashore. In the yard outside is a BBQ and picnic table. The house is filled with the artwork of the owners, Kathleen Goodwin and Richard Blair, who have spent over 30 years chronicling the wilds of West Marin in coffee table books. Your hosts can advise you on where to go and what to do in Point Reyes which can vastly increase your access to the beauty of the area.

Other things to note
Point Reyes is a nature lover's dream vacation. It is ideal for kayaking, horse riding, swimming in Tomales Bay, hiking, both mountain and road biking and one of the best places to bird watch in the USA. The home of the organic food movement. Put organic cream in your coffee. Savor local eggs. Slurp an oyster, crack a local crab or barbecue a wild salmon. During the summer, there is a wonderful weekly farmers market and plenty of good markets 10 minutes away by car.

In designing this home, I incorporated antique chandeliers, stained glass windows, molding, and doors from estate auctions. About 120 yards of stone were handpicked from the quarry at Sears Point for stone walls and for the lower level of the house. We’ve added art from our friends over the years. Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds can be seen in the backyard and from the kitchen window as they dart about the Chinese Lantern flowers.

Ospreys can be seen from the kitchen, the deck, and the master bedroom. It is a treat to hear their cries as they circle on the thermals gaining altitude to then glide off to catch a meal. When they return, sometimes they are harassed by crows or vultures or both as these thieves try to rob the ospreys of their catch. We have seen battles between the osprey pairs and groups of vultures.

While we love animals, unfortunately, we cannot accommodate pets or service animals because my wife is allergic .

CLEANLINESS
In the midst of COVID-19, we are taking extra precautions. We follow CDC guidelines and thoroughly ‘clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces, after every reservation, in household common areas (e.g. tables, hard-backed chairs, doorknobs, light switches, remotes, handles, desks, toilets, sinks).’ We extend this to countertops, cabinet & drawer knobs, railings, window sills, floors, and all bathroom surfaces. We wash and dry all towels, sheets, pillows, pillowcases, and blankets on high heat. Disposable gloves and masks are used for all cleaning. The cleaning charge is high because we require a cleaning crew due to the size of the house - 5000 sq ft.. This is for routine cleaning and Covid sterile cleaning. If there is extra cleaning required as a result of spilled food and drink on furniture and walls and floors and carpets and or an exceptionally dirty kitchen – food spilled and baked on to the stove, spills covering refrigerator shelves and storage, dirty dishes mixed with clean, etc. there will be a charge to cover the extra cleaning time and inconvenience.

We created this space as a personal sanctuary from our busy city lives and a place to re-charge in a truly gorgeous space with the wilds of West Marin just outside our doorstep.

The A-Frame is nestled on the Inverness Ridge minutes from the wonders of Tomales Bay. Although once you arrive you will likely not want to leave, if you care to venture out there are nearby beaches and trails where you can spend your days hiking, surfing, kayaking, or simply dreaming beneath the stars. We are about a 5 minute drive or lovely walk equidistant between the three sweet little towns of Point Reyes, Olema, and Inverness - and a scenic drive just over an hour from San Francisco or Oakland. Although you will mostly hear birds and the wind through the leaves, ambient sounds from the highway can sometimes be heard.

The Cabin

Built in the early 1970s with local Douglas Fir from a classic A-Frame floorpan the onyx building cuts a dramatic pose amongst the lush green trees.

The interior of the a-frame was lovingly remodeled from top to bottom by one of the owners- a local interior designer with BLYTHE DESIGN CO .. known for her warm and eclectic style around the Bay Area and beyond.

Modern bohemian furniture and hand-made artifacts, art, and accessories - many from local makers - adorn the cabin.

The first floor features new rustic oak floors, two-story soaring triangular windows, an airy open kitchen with a limestone countertop, new white appliances and a farmhouse table with comfy eames chairs and a custom bench for long chats over dinner. We have a pour over coffee maker as well as a French press. Kitchen equipped with lots of pots and pans for baking and cooking. No microwave or electric kettle.. take it slow here:)

NOTE: NO AIR CONDITIONER .. we have fans in the bedrooms ..Most Northern Cali homes don't A/C ..
A new sofa next to the wood burning fireplace easily converts into two single beds or the pop-up trundle joins to make a queen bed for sleeping. Or just lounge by the fire with your feet up and a laptop to turn the cabin into an ideal remote office.

A record player and an eclectic collection of LPs and nature inspired books for you to enjoy live on the shelves under the stairs (please do not take any with you and leave for others to enjoy). Note: we have no TV!

Towards the back of the cabin is a lovely bedroom with a queen bed and new Keetsa eco-friendly organic mattress.

Outside the bedroom door is a full bathroom with a wall hung sink, clawfoot tub with stand up shower, and cement encaustic tiles from Commune Design.

A mudroom for boots and wet shoes leads out to the back deck that holds two double rustic wood chairs and a view of local ferns and newly planted huckleberry bushes.

Upstairs is a mezzanine loft with a killer view of Black Mountain, a rattan hanging chair, and a super comfy L- shaped custom daybed perfect for an adult and child or a few kiddos (all children sleeping on our furniture must be potty trained)- you are welcome to bring a pop- up crib for the young un’s.

Through the back there is a WC with a vintage sink and patterned encaustic tiles across the hall from a shower room encased in Heath tile and large new showerhead.

The master bedroom has a light and airy California Modern vibe styled in neutral tones with a queen bed and new Keetsa mattress, dreamy bedding from local shop Coyuchi, and a huge triangular window that frames the trees outside. After dark it is the ultimate place to gaze at the night sky.
Note: there are no window coverings in this room. It would be a sin to cover up the view.. only the moon and squirrels will be able to see in, as it is at the back of the house high above the deck. If you are sensitive to light, bring an eye mask if sleeping anywhere but the downstairs bedroom.

Although not ADA compliant down to the letter, the entrance of the A-Frame is equipped to acommodate wheelchairs or walkers- there is a ramp that leads to the front door and the downstairs bathroom sink is wall mounted for easy access.

The A-Frame is a sanctuary for all to rest, recharge and create. Designed with a 'slow' pace in mind, our hope is that you enjoy every part of your stay; from making breakfast in our open kitchen, to choosing the perfect record to put on as the sun sets, or by relaxing on the deck in the heated seats under a moonlit sky. When the weather turns enjoy watching the storm pass over the mountain cozy by the fire with hot toddy in hand.

The Exterior

There is a stunning view of Black Mountain from our huge deck equipped with a custom outdoor dining table made from local timber, grill (currently not available for use due to local fire danger) and two heated concrete seats (you will never want to get up!) When here you will likely share the forest with foxes, deer, and owls- sightings from the deck and our land are frequent.

Although gatherings or events are strictly prohibited without previous permission, the deck is an ideal locale for a small quiet dinner, yoga class, or creative arts workshop (contact host for more information on renting the cabin for a class or workshop).

The cabin is across the street from a walking path that leads to the towering trees and coastal trails that make up the Bear Valley wilderness. (Note- this trail is closed due to a recent fire)

There is a tent on property that has taken on some water... best to stay out of for now. - NO EXTRA UNATHORIZED GUESTS can sleep there.

There is also a detached art studio/play space you are welcome to use. Feel free to play with the art supplies that are there- but please don’t take any with you or into the house.
It is a charming vintage art studio- check it out before sending kiddos out to play.

While you're staying here, the house will be your private forest retreat.
The property line is marked with pink streamers - at either end…our acre stops a few feet front the back deck in a straight line to the street. Although the next house is an acre away up the hill and not visible from our forest please stay on our land within the markers. If the sheriff is called due to trespassing on a neighbor’s property you will forfeit your security deposit.

DO NOT have packages or mail sent to our house under any circumstances. .. US postal service does not deliver here - We are in the country and fedex/ups takes much longer than they say it will- and packages arriving after you leave disrupts other guests.

Heated outdoor concrete seats can be turned on by turning the dial to the desired strength, wait 15-20 minutes and enjoy the heated haven! If the seats don't heat up press the small black button on the right leg (if you are sitting on the chair) Please turn off when not using.

The fireplace damper needs to be in the open position when using (perpendicular to the floor if you have not used one before), and off when the last coal is out. If you are nervous about using a wood fire or haven’t done so before, best to skip it and turn on one of our fabulous heaters :) Burning wood on "Spare the Air"days is illegal... please check the Spare the Air website (Airbnb won't let me post address but just search online)to see if there is a warning in effect. If we get dinged by the sheriff for burning wood on days when it is prohibited any charge will be passed on to you. I will do my best to check and pass any updates along to you, but ultimately you are responsible to check. Thanks for your understanding!


Linens, extra pillows and blankets for the upstairs day bed and pull out sofa are in the downstairs bedroom closet. Additional items are in drawers under both beds as well.

We clean and inspect the cabin carefully before each guest arrives ..but please note if there is any damage upon arrival. You will be held responsible for any damage to the cabin other then regular wear and tear.

Any soiled linens that we can not remedy with laundering will be your responsibility. Please let us know if you break, damage, or soil anything as soon as it happens to we can arrange to have it remedied upon your departure before the next guest. Please don't bleach or use harsh cleaning products on anything. Please ask for guidance before trying to remedy yourself- washing sheets in hot will set stains.. we can talk you through or you can just leave for us.

We have our cabin professionally cleaned before each guest arrives.. that being said.. we do live in the wild woods. An occasional spider, insect or even, very rarely, a cute little mouse in the pantry may occur.. this is in no way a reflection of our cleanliness.. If the sighting of either of these would cause you extreme distress or be a reason to give a bad review we aren't the cabin for you, either is West Marin in general. No one has complained in the past, but I like to set expectations. There are lots of hotels that are away from nature that don't have either of these things.

We have no television - unplug, read a book, listen to a record! Or stream a movie on your laptop if you so desire.

Your safety is EXTREMELY important so please follow these rules when on the property:
The stairs are “floating” and original to the cabin.. assist children up and down.
Take caution around the deck, as we are high up.
The back deck has no railings, watch your step.

All the lights that are hard wired to the wall have light switches on the walls.. please do not angle, move, or try out the cool looking toggles on the actual fixtures, as this could damage the lights. Thanks!!

We are on a septic system.. so only TP in the toilets and no coffee grounds or egg shells in the disposal please.

There are blankets in a basket in the mudroom for your use inside or on either of the decks.

The path leading from the parking area is dark at night.. use your cell phone light to guide you to the entrance. The outside light switch is to the left of the front door by the roof.

Located at about an hour's drive from downtown San Francisco, this contemporary designed house has been my escape from the city to recharge. Hopefully, thoughts of work and schedules will disappear for you too as you make your way to the end of our private drive. You are then free to relax during your stay in Zoe's Tree House.

The space
You will never want to leave this gorgeous 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath, 2,000 square foot home nestled between towering pines at the end of a private drive. Surrounded by nature, you need only look out the house's large windows for a view of the Tomales Bay wetlands or the house's impeccably maintained garden. Better yet, step out on the deck of any floor to take in the picturesque view and smell the fresh ocean breezes. Perfect for a family or several couples seeking to escape the hustle of city life, this contemporary house features bamboo and concrete radiant floors, beamed ceilings, clerestory windows, skylights, and an updated kitchen. And while the treehouse is adored by children, the young at heart have climbed its stairs to enjoy it as well.

Enjoy nature, read a book, or just get away from your phones and iPads. Still, if you insist, you can always stay connected with wifi (no judgments) to post pictures of your hiking or mountain biking through the 150 miles of local trails. And since it's only 1.5 miles to downtown Point Reyes Station, less active travelers can enjoy shopping, people watching, fantastic local cuisine, as well as wine, locally brewed beer, and craft cocktails. Aspiring chefs can get all the ingredients they need at Point Reyes Station to make a delectable dinner at home in a fully stocked gourmet kitchen.

A new propane gas grill and outdoor furniture await you on the upstairs balcony, with views across the bay. The perfect setting for grilling oysters from the very waters you are looking across (or Marin Sun Farms' original butcher shop is just a minute up the road).

Other things to note
This home has stairs up to the living room/kitchen area, and down to the lower bedrooms, so it is not appropriate for those with mobility issues. The home is kid-friendly, but parents with toddlers will have to be on their toes (as usual).

This home is in a quiet residential area and although the neighbors aren't very close, noise travels out here, so we ask that guests keep outside noise to a minimum after dark out of respect for our neighbors.

The space
Designed by Stillwater Dwellings, this is our dream home. The house is situated to take advantage of the amazing views of Tomales Bay and maximize privacy giving you the sense that you are surrounded by nature. At the same time, you are minutes away from the charming town of Point Reyes with wonderful dining options, great local shopping, and galleries. The house is filled with modern amenities including radiant heat, a gas fireplace, dishwasher, microwave, nespresso machine, a fully stocked kitchen and more. The hot tub overlooks Tomales Bay and there is a ping pong table in the carport.

We want you to know that we’re doing our part to help our Airbnb guests stay safe by cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces (light switches, doorknobs, cabinet handles, remotes, etc.) before you check in and following the Airbnb cleaning checklist based on recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). We have included a 24 hr. buffer period before your rental where no one will be in the house.

The house is in a quiet, residential neighborhood. While there is great privacy, voices carry in the secluded area. If you intend to have a party, you should seek another option. Our neighbors will call the local Sheriff's Office for noise violations.

You must observe quiet hours of 10 pm-8am

The large, fenced, backyard borders on the Giacomini Wetlands/Open Space Preserve. The gate at the bottom of the property gives access to trails that go into the Preserve.

We use top-notch cleaning products without annoying scents or chemicals, and our cleaners are paid living wages because they are the backbone of what we do and you’ll appreciate their attention to detail.

Relax in the woods above Point Reyes Station and the Pt. Reyes National Seashore. Our ranch-style family home is perfect for multi-generational families and friend gatherings, retreats & small events.

Our Main House accommodates 10 guests. It has a great open living and dining spaces, a spacious open kitchen, 4 bedrooms, fireplace, children’s play area, a piano, decks with views!

Our Cottage can host 4 more guests & is available for a small add'l fee, depending on the size of your group.

The space
The Fox Retreat Main House (10 guests) has a great central space (living room) with a fireplace and an open kitchen that allow families & friends to interact and spend time together. With vaulted ceilings and tastefully set up, it is a perfect house for family gatherings, small retreats and friends reunions! There are also many separate sitting "nooks" for reading or quiet conversations.

The main house features 4 bedrooms, as well as 2 sleeping lofts and divan-style window seats. It accommodates 10 adults, when including the sleeping lofts, and we can provide a pack&play and floor cushions for 2-3 small children.

The master bedroom has an en-suite bathroom. There is a shared separate bathroom and a half-bath (sink and toilet), as well as a wonderful enclosed outdoor shower, situated just off of the “mud room” with its washer and dryer.

While the Main House sleeps 10 people, if your group is larger (4 more guests) you can request the Guest Cottage for a small additional fee. The cottage is available for $149/night for week nights and $195/night of Friday, Saturday, Sunday and holiday nights. Both houses are part of one property, though they have separate entrances and are 100 feet apart through a pathway in our garden, separated by a fence and a garden gate. The Guest Cottage may occasionally have separate visitors/renters, if you are only reserving the main house, but your experience will remain private.

For persons with limited mobility, there is a wheelchair ramp into the main house. Though there is no wheelchair-accessible shower, the main house and its decks are completely walker- and rollator-friendly; our 97-year-old mother loved her time there!

Main house and cottage decks provide various sitting & dining areas, lounge chairs, a grill and views to the bay, hills & woods. A lower deck through the garden (below but within sight and earshot of the main house's decks) provides another relaxing area, with hammocks and sky chairs, and a swing for children.

Our Guest Cottage has king bed and a modern & comfortable queen pull out in the living room. It has it's own deck and grill and features a full kitchen with all amenities, dining area, desk, bathroom and washer/dryer.

In total, with both houses, we can accommodate 14 people and some small children: there are two king beds (one of which can be made into 2 singles), one queen, two single beds (in one room), one double, two sleeping lofts (twin bed size-one in a bedroom and one in the bedrooms circulation area), and queen (two-person) sofa-bed.

Guest access
Our property is part of the Point Reyes Peninsula, a few minutes’ drive from the towns of Point Reyes Station, Inverness and from different beaches along the Point Reyes National Seashore. A few trails are accessible on foot from our property. The nearest ocean beach is the magnificent Limantour Beach, an 18 minute drive. Kid-friendly Tomales Bay beaches are also within 20 minutes, with great swimming for adults and children. Other seashore towns, such as Marshall (oysters anyone?), Bodega Bay, Bolinas and Stinson Beach (with a lifeguarded beach) offer many opportunities for day outings and dining.

Other things to note
Persons who require darkness to sleep should bring sleep masks. The house has skylights or big windows in some of the bedrooms.

We provide 2 high-chairs (one does not have a front safety bar, and is to be pulled right up to the dining room table) and we also offer a pack&play that can be setup for infants.

We ask that the garden gates be kept closed in order to protect our garden from the deer.

The small town of Point Reyes Station (a 10 minute drive) has a well-stocked supermarket, open 8AM-8PM, in addition to its shops and restaurants. Check out the Saturday farmer's Market on main street 9AM-1PM (May-October)

With a capacity of up to 50 people, we are well-suited for group retreats, school and youth groups, reunions, and special gatherings. Our lodge features two fully-equipped kitchens, three large living rooms, two dining rooms and and outdoor patio area, allowing you to prepare meals and dine together.

The entire lodge will be yours. There will be one or two staff members working on site, mostly in the reception area located in the living room of the Farmhouse. There are also staff that live onsite, so there are quiet hours that must be respected, especially in and around the Farmhouse, from 10pm to 8am.

We have telescopes, binoculars, bird I.D. charts, beach chairs, and a bunch of other cool stuff for guests to use and borrow. The kitchens are fully equipped with appliances, dishware and utensils and we even have coffee for you to enjoy.
