Your host is a british lady who has lived on Crete almost all her life. She is fluent in Greek (and obviously English) and lives about 15 minutes away. She will meet you at your arrival, hand you over the keys and explain you everything. She can also organise for you airport transfer or economic and safe rental cars. She usually comes by about once a week but will be available at daytime if you give her a call.

The village of Plaka with its waterfront cafes and widely known fresh fish restaurants is within comfortable walking distance (150 meters). There is also a small village harbour where boat trips can be arranged for sightseeing, fishing and regular trips over to the Venetian fortress island of Spinalonga. The luxury country villa is located in eastern Crete close to the traditional, unspoilt fishing village of Plaka, Elounda. The ground floor is never rented separately so you will always be alone on the premises. If you book for 7 to 8 persons you will additionally have the use of the ground floor two room apartment, if you book for 9 to 10 persons you will additionally have the use of the ground floor two room apartment and the ground floor one room apartment, both with separate accesses. You can book any time additional guests / nights as an extra. If for some reasons you need more than the booked number of bedrooms, please let us know.

The VILLA MINOS offers a high level of service and comfort. There is a Meet and Greet service with a basic food starter pack should you be arriving late, a mid week clean with change of towels and sheets. This modern villa is an hour by car from Heraklion airport. In a sought after location, set in an elevated position but close to the beach with views over the Bay of Elounda, and the surrounding Cretan mountains. Built on two levels, the ground floor has been designed with a well equipped modern kitchen, an open plan living/dining area with comfortable seating, air- conditioning and a TV with English & multi language channels plus FREE DIRECT TELEPHONE CONNECTED BROADBAND WI-FI, which will allow the UK Television Channels to be streamed via an Amazon Firestick on to our large screen television. There are two large comfy sofas. The upper floor has 2 bedrooms (one double and one twin), both air-conditioned,with patio doors leading out onto sea-view balconies. Each has its own luxury bathroom with a power shower.

It's modern, clean, a good size for 4 people. The bedrooms and downstairs had effective and much needed air conditioning, The pool area, sunbeds and seating areas provided lots of outdoor eating/drinking space. The views from the pool terrace were amazing - perfect to watch the day go by and sun go down behind the villa - the colours on the mountains in the distance were photographed almost every evening. The kitchen has all the mod-cons including dishwasher and washing machine. The villa is in Mavrikiano. Near to the villa (less than 5 minutes walk) were 2 tavernas and a Cretan Pub - all with beautiful views over Elounda bay. I'm not going to lie, Mavrikiano is on a very steep hill but this shouldn't put anyone off. We went into Elounda several times which was a 10-15 minute walk down the hill. There are so many bars/restaurants and shops down there - everything you need. The beach in Elounda was nice - and 2 sunbeds & parasol were a reasonable 8 euros for the day. I would highly recommend Villa Minos and this area of Crete. A lovely relaxing, chilled holiday! Thank you!"

This family owned 2 bedroom villa is licensed by the Greek Tourist Authority (E.O.T) and complies with all required regulations. The villa situated 50 metres from the beach and the centre of Elounda is beautifully decorated and furnished with air conditioning throughout. The kitchen is fully equipped if you do not wish to eat out. The open plan lounge and dining area offers flat screen TV with satellite channels, internet connection, selection of DVDs, books and a Bose docking station.The Villa has a downstairs cloakroom and both double bedrooms have en-suite shower rooms. Elounda once a small fishing village is now a growing modern town that still retains a certain charm. An appealing mixture of old and new. It has an attractive harbour surrounded by restaurants, cafes and bars. Elounda also has a sandy beach offering water sports and self drive boat hire. Boat trips are available to the famous Island of Spinalonga.

Karfi is a detached 3-storey villa set in olive groves just outside the beautiful fishing village of Elounda. With private pool & garden, 2.5 balconies with sea and mountain views, 3 double rooms, 2 bathrooms, and full aircon, it sleeps 6. Less than 10 minutes' walk from the village centre, with its lively bars, shops and restaurants the villa also has a fully-equipped kitchen (including washing machine) and is perfect for self-catering. Many local restaurants also deliver direct to the villa.

Villa Karfi is situated down a private driveway surrounded by olive groves, yet is only a (genuine!) 10-minute walk from the centre of the bustling fishing village of Elounda with its Blue Flag-awarded beach and many bars, restaurants and shops. The 3-storey villa has its own secluded garden with flowers, shrubs, and fruit trees, and its own private pool (6m by 4m, available from April to mid-November) with 6 sun loungers, large parasol, and outdoor shower. Elounda and the local area

Elounda and its local area has something to offer for people of all ages and interests, and Villa Karfi’s location means that many of these can be enjoyed without the need to hire a car. Elounda’s sandy Blue Flag beach is award-winning for its cleanliness, and offers inexpensive sunloungers and warm, calm shallow water ideal for swimming. Elounda is near to several important archaeological sites of interest, including the epicentre of Minoan civilisation, Knossos, which is an hour’s drive away, and the sunken city of Olous from which the town takes its name. Centred on a busy square with its church, 2 supermarkets (both of which stay open late), several cafes and bakeries, many bars and restaurants, Elounda also offers a wide variety of shops and holds its own weekly fresh produce market every Friday. One of the most popular attractions in Crete, the island of Spinalonga, is a scenic boat trip away, with boats leaving Elounda harbour every 30 minutes during the holiday season. The town of Agios Nikolaos is a 20-minute drive away - buses leave regularly from the village square. The Elounda ‘fun train’ takes visitors up the coast to Plaka (the village closest to Spinalonga) and then travels up into the surrounding hills for a fascinating tour of traditional Cretan villages. There are extensive walking trails all around the local area, many offering spectacular views of Spinalonga and the Bay of Mirabello. Other nearby attractions which are within an hour’s drive include two major water parks, the aquarium of Crete, and the Lasithi plateau. There are several travel agents in the village which provide reasonably-priced car, quad bike, scooter, mountain bike, boat and kayak hire as well as many tailored excursions, including scuba and snorkelling trips and all-day tours of Knossos.

During the winter months Elounda often experiences mild weather and number of restaurants and bars in the village remain open all year. The village supermarkets also operate year round.

Getting around

The villa is a short walk (9 minutes) from the main village harbour square with its many tavernas, cafes, shops and beach, with no significant gradients to negotiate (unlike many others in the area!) Cars can be parked in the village for free if required, and there is disabled parking provision very close to the major amenities. - "The location was great- v close to Elounda (children walked home from beach party), and not far to drive to Agios Nikolaos for essentials/ and or water sports etc. Very close to get ferry and visit Spinolonga Fortress. Easy drive to southern shores of Crete- Lerapetra and lovely drive along coast. Accommodation - Comfortable clean and calming. Loved the blue lit pool, and we had bonus fireworks for our free entertainment provided by local hotel, BBQ and outdoor cooking area all very handy.
