We had a short visit, but we still had enough time to visit Florence, Pisa, Lucca and Manarola. Lots of space for our family of four. Stylish apartment with an extra nice yard for meals outdoors. The showers, heaters and beds worked fine. The pick up recycling system was a bit challenging to obey as we only stayed for five days. The host was very friendly and easy to reach by phone. The garden had lots of different areas to sit. We tended to follow the shade! Luca was extremely helpful and responded quickly to any queries or requests. He also gave us ideas of places to go. We all enjoyed it when he popped around, despite none of us being able to speak Italian, we made do with a mixture of languages and realised later we should have used Google translate! As keen gardeners ourselves we loved his seedlings. It was an amazing location and unbeknownst to us we'd booked during the Puccini festival so we were able to enjoy an outdoor opera performance. Good links to Pisa, Florence, Lucca from local train station. Cinque Terre if you have a car. We enjoyed a really good meal at the chalet restaurant by the lake. The improvements wed suggest would be to have more than the minimum crockery and cutlery, sharp knives and the listing should mention that air conditioning is only in three bedrooms. Fans were provided in the others but this was not clear on the listing. If renting in cooler months, it might be worth noting that there is no indoor sitting room. The listing showed two kitchens but there was only one. As we used the BBQ outside and did most of the food prep outside that was fine for summer."

The house is located in a quiet area of Viareggio. It is divided into two levels, very spacious (about 160 square meters) and equipped with a large and fresh garden in the shade of a beautiful fir tree. On the ground floor a large lounge with air conditioning [NEW: new double sofa bed for two additional beds!] with cable TV and a round table, for both meal and relaxation. A large equipped kitchen with access also to the garden, a service bathroom. On the first floor 3 comfortable double bedrooms, 2 balconies and a large bathroom with tub / shower. The house is bright and cool in summer, parking space included (and the possibility to park for free also on the street).

Thanks to the advice of a friend I decided to start welcoming travelers to the house where I grew up and whose fond memories I keep, I am sure that it will be able to enter into the fond memories of many other people .. for me the welcome is a new world, that fascinates me and intrigues me a lot ..

The house is located in a residential neighborhood, just outside the center (reachable on foot in 20 minutes). It is close to the sea, which can be reached in about 20/25 minutes on foot through a beautiful pine forest (ideal during the day for picnics, walks, jogging and in the evening with clubs where you can listen to music and have a drink) ..
Nearby (within 300 meters) there is everything you can need during your stay, namely groceries, bars, ice cream parlors, pizzerias, supermarkets, post offices, banks, butchers, tobacconists, bakeries, pharmacies, laundries, and so on. a playground for the little ones, skating area with the possibility of renting roller skates, tennis courts, football and soccer.

A damage deposit of EUR 250 is required upon arrival. You will have to pay it in cash. You should receive a refund upon checkout. The deposit will be refunded in full in cash after checking the state of the accommodation.

Generally between January and February there is the event of the year that characterizes the city all over the world: the Carnival of Viareggio! You can't miss: the masks, the confetti and the atmosphere will drag you into a whirlwind of joy and light-heartedness!
In the area it is a must to visit the civic museums (GAMC museum of modern and contemporary art, Maritime Museum, Archaeological Museum and Man A. C. Blanc, Museum of Musical Instruments C. Ciuffreda and Monumental Halls of Villa Paolina, Atelier A. Catarsini); period villas are an attraction for those interested in the architectural aspect that links the Art Nouveau style to the city of Viareggio (e.g. Villa Paolina Bonaparte, Puccini's villa in Torre del Lago, in the promenade there are several Liberty-style buildings finely restored and maintained over time).
The pine forest (both east and west) is an attraction on hot summer days with its many kiosks to have a cool drink and for the children's rides, as well as being a place of leisure where you can go jogging, cycling, in the classic "wheelchair" (particular bike that can be occupied for up to 6 people) and the legendary "cricket"!
You cannot miss the pier and the promenade of Viareggio: with shops for shopping and clubs to spend romantic and peaceful evenings with friends.
The many restaurants of the Viareggio and Versilia docks will be able to refresh you and put you back on strength: the fish cooked by our chefs and the Cacciucco from Viareggio will remain in your memories for a long time, I'm sure!
In the area the other towns of Versilia are areas of interest in various aspects:
• Pietrasanta, with its art and the small town which is truly a 'bijoux';
• Forte dei Marmi: classy shopping, luxury, sequins ... the center that can be visited on foot and the marvelous pier;
• Camaiore, a city that with its Lido di Camaiore, encompasses both the nearby mountains and the summer nightlife of the coast;
• Torre del Lago Puccini, famous for the composer who settled there and the Music Festival which takes its name; sea and lake very close;
• Sant'Anna di Stazzema, a place of historical and cultural interest for the massacre of World War II;
• and then Pisa, a stone's throw . Lucca, Florence, Siena, Livorno, ... In short, Tuscany is all to visit and Viareggio is its pearl!
