Welcome to Serenity by the Sea, a charming nautical and pirate themed townhome vacation rental located on a high bluff overlooking the Gulf of Mexico in Cedar Key, Florida. Enjoy the refreshing gulf breeze from one of the two screened balconies, one off the living room and the other off the master bedroom. Our shared dock, exclusively available to the five units on the property, is perfect for fishing and soaking up the sun.

Serenity by the Sea is a two-bedroom, two-bathroom vacation rental that accommodates a maximum of six guests. The master bedroom features a king-sized bed while the guest bedroom has two twin beds. There is also a sofa bed in the living room for additional sleeping space. The bathrooms feature tub/shower combos, and we provide all linens, towels, and kitchen supplies.

The living room is spacious and comfortable with sliding doors that open onto the screened balcony. We offer three TVs with Dish Network service, and the kitchen is fully equipped for preparing meals, including a dishwasher. The dining area has seating for four and a bar with stools. The townhome is located on three levels, with the master bedroom and bath on the ground floor. The guest bedroom and bath is up half a flight of stairs, at mid level, along with the washer and dryer, and the living room, kitchen, and dining area up another half flight of stairs on the top floor, for a total of two floors.

Parking is limited at this location, and boat trailers are not encouraged due to the close quarters. Please keep in mind that Serenity by the Sea does not offer the use of the garage. The property is private and quiet, surrounded by well-maintained landscaping and hidden by palms and oaks. The high bluff, an ancient shell midden, has a seawall leading down to the Gulf and the mangrove protected beach. While it is shelly here and has little sandy areas to launch kayaks, the mangroves lining the shoreline are thick and stand directly in the saltwater tides.

The entire island is yours to explore when you rent a golf cart from one of the shops here. Please be aware of automobile traffic and always pull over to allow cars to pass. Cedar Key is a working shellfish town, so please respect clammers, oystermen, and commercial fishing workers who share the streets with golf carters.

This amazing townhouse is a two-bedroom, one bath, waterfront townhome vacation rental in Cedar Key. It is just a short walk from the City park beach and all the restaurants and shops. More importantly it is just about as close to the Gulf as any lodging can get. The balcony doors open to the sound of gentle waves lapping on the rocks below. These calm waters will soothe your soul.

The entry leads up to the main level of the townhome. Here is the living, dining, kitchen great room with sliding glass doors opens onto the waterfront balcony. The kitchen is fully furnished for cooking. We have Cuisinart appliances and Keurig Coffee maker. We have a side by side refrigerator, dishwasher, electric range and oven, and even a George Forman grill. The living room is open to the Gulf breezes and the salty sea air and has a queen couch bed. The balcony is sunny and warm year round.

The top floor is home the the bedrooms and bath. The master bedroom with king size bed is waterfront with glass doors and private balcony overlooking the panoramic Gulf of Mexico. The guest bedroom has a queen bed. The Bathroom has a walk in shower with sliding glass doors.

Here you are blessed to actually witness the real island life. From your balconies you`ll see a constant display of the Cedar Key watermen & women coming and going from the nearby clam leases. These hard working clam farmers make the trip to and from their leases directly in front of the townhomes. They harvest their clams daily. The wake created by these bird dog boats laps onto the rocks below.

The townhome has a very small rock and sand and shell beach next door where you can sit in the sand and launch your kayaks.

Please bring water shoes because you will probably want to explore on the rocks here. The sea wall and rocks are great places to see marine life up close at low tide.

The parking here is limited so keep this in mind when you plan your trip. We share with seven other units and everyone must have access. One car or truck is best and more than two vehicles is not advised. There is however adequate parking under your unit for golf carts.

You have to see Sunset Harbor Vacation Rental to believe it. This window filled end unit townhouse offers a panoramic view of the quaint village of Cedar Key, the Gulf of Mexico and the islands of the Cedar Keys National Wildlife Refuge. Located adjacent to the City Park beach you have an unobstructed view of the entire beach that is only a two minute walk from the rental.

Sunset Harbor is a townhome so staying here will give you the added cardio benefit of stairs. You enter from the ground level and up a flight to the two bedrooms and bath. The spacious waterside master bedroom has a king size bed plus a private balcony on the Gulf with dolphin views (dolphins daily do their frolicking just off shore of your bedroom).

The Guest bedroom here is equipped with three twin size beds (two bunks and one individual twin.) This room has glass french doors.

The Bathroom has tub/shower combo sink and toilet and plenty of towels.

Now up the stairs to the top floor and main living area where you are sure to be awed by not only the furnishings of the place but also by the panoramic view of the Sea and Village and the beach and the islands. Really its that cool. Promise.

This top level is all tile floor, cathedral ceilings and more glass that you can imagine stretching all the way to the very high ceilings.

The Living room is comfortable and spacious and affords a Gulf view from every where. The kitchen is spacious and includes a dining table for gathering. The counter tops are granite and the kitchen has all the appliances, both large and small. There is also a half bath up here.

In addition to all this is something quite unusual. Pull down a retractable stairway and climb up to a balcony where you find a queen size bed. The ceiling here is a window lined pergola with glass as the end wall. Sleep here and you literally sleep with the stars. A note of importance is called for here. Even though this additional bed gives the indication that more than 6 guests can be accommodated here we strictly enforce a maximum rule of 6 guests only. No more. Please do not allow more than 6. Additionally please do not allow children to sleep unattended on the balcony platform bed. The danger of falling is too great to take the risk. Remember this is a balcony overlooking the kitchen and living room and it has no walls. Only rails separate the bed from a possible fall. Thanks for your co operation here.

We need to make you aware of the parking at Sunset Harbor. There are seven townhouses here in a row. If you have a compact car or golf cart then you can park in the breezeway under the house. (by the way here under the breeze way is also where you will find the laundry room).

Being the end unit Sunset Harbor unit just needs to be respectful and not block the folks at the Cottage that is close by. You must share the space by not blocking the vehicle from this cottage. Otherwise if you have an additional vehicle you can park in the grassy area across the parking lot from the townhomes.

The rule here is `be a good neighbor and in most cases they will be good right back`.

Due to the prime location of this studio, NO private parking is available--Street Parking Only! Boats/trailers will not be able to park near the studio. Parking for boats/trailers will need to be near the marina, just one block away. Entry for the studio is currently around the side of the building and is NOT paved. Tenants should be prepared to bring their luggage through a mowed area. It's Cedar Key style--nothing fancy but functional. This is a pet friendly unit with a max of 2 dogs! Pet fee is $50 per pet per visit, 2 pet maximum. If you did not pay a pet fee on booking, please contact us immediately. Evidence of pets in unit without paying the pet fee as required will result in a penalty of $300 charge to your card on file. Please check with us on any other pets. Historic gem has been carefully remodeled while maintaining its charm. The structure was built in 1880 for two sisters. The upstairs was always a residence and the downstairs was the home of Bodiford Pharmacy. Today, you can stay here and walk to everything downtown. The Carmen House, Circa 1880, is located in the heart of downtown Cedar Key. All stores, restaurants are located within a short walking distance, as well as the beach, marina, Library and the Cedar Key Garden. Rent a golf cart from nearby or a bike.

The murphy bed is in the living room, so someone who can’t do the steeper stairs could easily stay on the main floor. There is a set of stairs to get to the 1st floor of the house, as well, but they were not steep at all. My family of 3 really enjoyed our stay. The living room was super cozy, and the deck was great to relax on (and people watch), as well. Both bedrooms were a decent size. The master bed was really soft which is my only complaint. The bathroom upstairs is smaller than the one downstairs, but both were nice. The shower upstairs is smaller, but the shower pressure upstairs was better than downstairs. It was probably way too much room for my family of 3, but it was nice to be away from home but still have the comforts of home. So much better than a hotel or condo!"

The entry leads up to the main level of the townhome. Here is the living, dining, kitchen great room with sliding glass doors opens onto the waterfront balcony. Here at Salt Life you are blessed to actually witness the real "salt life". From your balconies you'll see a constant display of the Cedar Key watermen & women coming and going from the nearby clam leases. These hard working clam farmers make the trip to and from their leases directly in front of the townhomes. They harvest their clams daily. The wake created by these bird dog boats laps onto the rocks below.
The townhome has a very small rock and sand and shell beach next door where you can sit in the sand and launch your kayaks.
Please bring water shoes because you will probably want to explore on the rocks here at Salt Life. The sea wall and rocks are great places to see marine life up close at low tide.

The parking here is limited so keep this in mind when you plan your trip. We share with seven other units and everyone must have access. One car or truck is best and more than two vehicles is not advised. There is however adequate parking under your unit for golf carts.

"Kate" is named for Catherine Hobday, a strong woman figure in Cedar Key history. Catherine Hobday served as the first female lighthouse keeper at Seahorse Key Light Station from September 16, 1872 until November 30, 1879.

Two night minimum.
Quiet second floor apartment in historic building on the island of Cedar Key. This apartment is smoke free and pet free. (Owner has extreme allergies.) It has a porch with a water view, one block from the Gulf, and is in the center of town. Not a stoplight in town. Cedar Key is a tiny fishing village full of artists, musicians, and people who like to fish. Lots of superb restaurants that feature world famous Cedar Key clams and fresh fish. Sunsets here are terrific!

The space
One parking space behind the building is allowed for guests. Street parking is also available. The available space for the guests include bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living room, and porch. The porch is occasionally shared with the owner who lives in the studio in the upstairs front part of the building.
Two night minimum is required.

Guest access
The bedroom is private as is the bathroom. The full kitchen is exclusive to the guest (but has no oven). Coffee and tea is available, but you will be above the best coffee shop in town. The living room is for the use of the guest. Your privacy is respected. The living room has a desk under the window with the water view and this is where you’re to write your masterpiece (or in your journal).

The balcony is a shared quiet space for coffee, cocktails, or book reading. Shared only with me (but rarely) on really nice days, who also enjoys the water view.

Other things to note
It is second floor so be aware that there are stairs to climb. The beach and the main dock are strolling distance away. In fact walking around town and down to the Sand Spit to watch the sunset seems to be the activity people enjoy the most. There are two co-op art galleries as well as an upstairs art gallery which has new exhibits each month. Visitors find that Cedar Key is a very friendly town where everyone seems to naturally greet each other as they pass by.

The Place

We are situated in the historic district of Cedar Key, nestled among some of the oldest structures on the island. The two houses across the street were floated over from Atsena Otie Key in the late 1800s when its inhabitants abandoned that island. The main house on this property was built, in the 1920s we think, from lumber salvaged from the old dairy farm, which was located on the site now occupied by the state park. Like any coastal village, the neighborhood is quaint and quirky with a mix of "new blood" and residents whose families have lived on the island since the civil war.

Things to Do

Rent kayaks and bikes or bring your own. It is easy enough in Cedar Key to get out of your car and leave it parked until your stay is over. We recommend this course of action. Even the grocery, the Market at Cedar Key, is only two blocks away.

Take a sightseeing boat ride to Seahorse Key. You will be sure to see dolphins and may even spot a sea turtle or giant ray. In the evening, the white ibises stream out to one of the islands, brown pelicans dive for their dinner, and roseate spoonbills dig around in the shallows.

Charter a fishing guide.

Or just hang out on the patio and read a book. You don’t have to be productive in Cedar Key.

Plus, here you'll visit and fish from the Big Dock Cedar Key Fishing Pier. All this is less than one minute walk from the Daisy House.

This area is a shared space and there is room for a couple of cars here. You can exit by driving through the back but take care, it’s narrow and can be a little difficult to traverse. Access to home requires guests to climb a flight of exterior stairs, but once inside the home is single level.

Solimar is a bayside retreat perfect for kayaking, fishing and relaxing, just minutes from restaurants and shops.

This house is versatile and can accommodate whatever you and your loved ones are looking for in lodging. It is the perfect family and multi-family getaway fully stocked with plenty to keep everyone entertained. Kayak right from the backyard (2 kayaks included in rental) or fish right off either of the 2 docks on the property.

*Downstairs unit: The two levels are separated by exterior stairs so makes it perfect for multi-family use or let the big kids stay downstairs and let the parents enjoy the 180 degree views from upstairs. The downstairs rental sleeps a maximum of four guests with two bedrooms and one bath and offers a kitchenette and laundry room. Reserve either or both to meet your needs, just search for Solimar to see if the whole house is available. Both houses include wifi, cable TV, and are stocked with indoor and outdoor games, kayaks and bikes.

Exterior stairs split the house making it perfect for multi-family rental: 2 beds 1bath upstairs, 2 beds 1bath downstairs.

The Marigold House is a home located downtown Cedar Key on famous First Street with both a water view and a view of the marina basin. The Gulf is the next thing you come to after First Street. You will be in the heart of it all at the Marigold House. Walk across the Dock Street Bridge to find at least six of Cedar Key’s finest waterfront restaurants, gift shops, golf cart rentals and an art co-op store.

The space
Marigold is the top floor unit and has a comfortable Queen size bed with memory foam topper in the spacious vaulted ceiling bedroom. The bathroom has a tub and shower combo. The living room is spacious with vaulted ceiling and private balcony. There is comfortable seating here and it is large enough to invite a couple guests over for a visit. There is WiFi and Direct TV. The kitchen is compact with a refrigerator/freezer, a two-burner stove, both a Keurig and drip coffee maker, Cuisinart toaster oven, small sink and a bistro table with two stools. The balcony also has a bistro table and comfortable seating for two. We have a max occupancy of two and do not allow smoking or pets at the Marigold House. From your top floor balcony, you have a panoramic view of the key and the water beyond.

Both the living room and the bedroom have televisions allowing you to sit back and watch your shows wherever is most comfortable. If you're heading to the beach we also provide beach towels.
