The second floor apartment is located on Warren Street—a mile long stretch of shops and restaurants. The space is fully furnished and decorated with a modern aesthetic. The windows along the front in the living room and front bedroom bring in plenty of natural light and an airy feel with views of the park across the street.
There is a normal level activity from cars and pedestrians during the day and evening hours. At the end of the block is one of Hudson's oddities—the freight train tracks. These trains run infrequently.
The apartment was referred to as '...a highly designed rental apartment to tempt the aesthetically minded...', Cultivating Hudson:.. NY Times Home & Garden, 1/15/2014
- "Had a great time. Everything was perfect, Chuck could not have been nicer. Would definitely come back again" - "The park across the street and all of Warren Street. Although this is a new listing on VRBO ,we are not strangers to renting and managing apartments. We have rented this and two other apartments in the building on long term leases since 2007. This apartment is very bright thanks to 3 large windows facing the street and 4 windows on the side facing the garden which is a rarity on Warren Street.
The apartment offers a complete kitchen including a large oven, dishwasher, microwave and all the necessary utensils to prepare breakfast, lunch and diner should you decide to eat in. The kitchen island offers seating for two and the dining table seats 6 adult comfortably.
The large bedroom offers a king size bed, flat screen tv and plenty of storage .
This apartment is perfectly suited for the business traveler or a vacation stay in Hudson .
My family and I live in the ground floor apartment and assure you that we will answer and address any questions or issues promptly.
A bit of history:
This grand Federal style house at 216-220 Warren Street was originally built, probably in the last decade of the 18th century, for Thomas Jenkins, who is believed to have been the richest of the original Proprietors. It was Thomas who, with his brother Seth, set out from Nantucket in 1783 to find a safe harbor for their vessels and those of other seafaring men from New England and found and purchased Claverack Landing. Tradition has it that, in the good Quaker community that was early Hudson, Thomas Jenkins was considered to be 'somewhat aristocratic' and was roundly criticized for the ostentation of his palatial home.
In her Colonial Restoration and Old Upper Hudson Walking Tours, first published in 1984, Mrs. Granvil Hills tells us that 'the house was later divided into 2 dwellings.' It is definitely two dwellings today, but it is not entirely clear when the division happened. In 1848, more than half a century after it was built, the house became a school for young ladies. What Anna Bradbury has to say about the school in her History of the City of Hudson suggests that it had already been divided at that point.
In 1848 the Misses Peake established a 'Young Ladies Seminary,' that for more than thirty years attracted the patronage of the best people of the city and vicinity. It was located at Number 216 Warren street with a fine schoolroom in the adjoining dwelling. Miss Elizabeth Peake, the head of the institution, was a person of superior mind and culture, and was the author of two very excellent books, one 'Pen Pictures of Europe,' and the other a 'History of the German Emperors,' which necessitated research in the great libraries of Germany, and exhibited great ability.
In 1881, George Power, who owned the New York and Hudson Steamboat Company, the Hudson and Athens Ferry, and the Hudson and Catskill Ferry,This grand Federal style house at 216-220 Warren Street was originally built, probably in the last decade of the 18th century, for Thomas Jenkins, who is believed to have been the richest of the original Proprietors. In 1881, George Power, who owned the New York and Hudson Steamboat Company, the Hudson and Athens Ferry, and the Hudson and Catskill Ferry, moved from 400 State Street, where he had lived since 1865, to this house. Power was probably, in his time, one of the richest men in Hudson, and, according to the 1880 census, his household consisted of six adults besides himself--his wife, Adeline; four grown children, Emily (40), Ada (24), Kate (22), and Frank (18); and his widowed sister Mary Gaul--so it's hard to imagine that he would move from a building of such considerable size to half a house on Warren Street.
Power seemed to have had a curious penchant--perhaps because there were so many women in his household--for living in buildings that had been occupied by schools for young women. Before he bought 400 State Street and made it his home, the building had been the Reverend J. B. Hague's Hudson Female Academy, and he moved to this house on Warren Street soon after it ceased being the Misses Peake's Young Ladies Seminary.
In 1894, all or part of 216-220 Warren Street became the Howard Hotel, and so it remained until 1944.
Some time after the Howard Hotel closed in 1944, the building where Savoia is now located was added, and a bar opened there named for Hudson's most notorious home-based industry.
The building that started out as the grandest house in Hudson went through hard times in the 1980s and 1990s, but today, at more than two hundred years of age, it survives and thrives, although clearly as two separate and distinct parts.
- "Awesome place, large, clean, and in a great location. Felt very welcomed and will be back in the future." - "The apartment is beautiful and comfortable. It is large and preserved so well. The location is great! Right near so many restaurants and stores. The owner is also so kind and responsive. They even had waters in the fridge. When we come back I would absolutely stay here again. - "Our stay was for one night. The property is beautiful, the efficiency is well appointed and comfortable and very clean. We were very impressed with the communication and the care for us from the owner. It is quiet, rural and very peaceful." - "Very quaint and convenient to everything around. Gardens were beautiful and area was quiet." - "Loved the hot tub and the place was clean and newly remodeled" - "Clean and accurate to the listing. Steven was communicative and helpful. Definitely recommend staying here. Only thing to consider this is about a 10-15 min drive from downtown Hudson and there was no Ubers and the Taxi services are patchy at best. Just plan accordingly, as there may not be a Taxi available later in the evening."

Named for its central location on Union Street and domestic tranquility, A MORE PERFECT UNION is a 1,200-sf floor-thru that provides a beautiful bohemian base for a weekend in Hudson. It's ideal for weekend guests, and well-provisioned enough to feel and function like home for longer-term stays.
This immaculate, unique home blends historic Federal-style construction with an exuberant mélange of eclectic furnishings. Its wide original floorboards feel warm and solid underfoot, and its pre-Civil War plaster walls are adorned with the vibrant art of local folk artist Earl Swanigan, Spanish abstract expressionist Isabel Santaló, and surrealist John Fenton, among others, creating a rich, layered ambience.
Public spaces are roomy with high ceilings. MORE ABOUT THE NEIGHBORHOOD & HUDSON:
Union Street, and my block in particular, has the lovely settled energy of an older neighborhood. It's quiet and peaceful here, yet only a minute's walk from the exact center of Warren Street, Hudson's happening main drag with its varied restaurants, wine bars, art galleries, boutiques, and all manner of fashions - antique and au courant - for home and humans.
Hudson is a very small city, and you can explore all of it easily on foot. Warren Street, Hudson's main artery, is a minute's leisurely stroll from the house, and there is street parking all around. The Catskills, Frederick Church's Olana and Hudson River beaches — to name just three of the Hudson Valley's memorable offerings — are all a 10- or 15-minute drive, and more easily accessed by car.
Hudson is about 120 miles from New York City, a two-hour train ride from Penn Station, and 48 miles from Albany International Airport (ALB). Although you can walk anywhere in town from the house, the closest supermarkets, movie theaters and fast food are located in strip malls 1-1/2 to 3-1/2 miles away (thus preserving Hudson's remarkable architectural continuity). There are taxis, a car rental agency, and two places to rent bicycles (one of which also rents skis and kayaks) in town.
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:
PLEASE TAKE YOUR SHOES OFF UPON ENTERING THE HOUSE. COZY HOUSE SOCKS WILL BE PROVIDED, WITH MANY THANKS FROM YOUR HOUSE FAIRY.
PET POLICY: Unfortunately, although I love them, I am unable to accept pets.
STAYS OF MORE THAN ONE WEEK: In order to change linens and keep the place bright and shiny, the apartment will be cleaned weekly. We coordinate whatever time(s) works for everyone.
LEGAL STUFF: This property is registered with the City of Hudson, and Hudson's 5% lodging tax is included in the rate.
- "My family of 3 adults loved our stay at A perfect Union. The location is ideal- walkable to great restaurants and shops. On-street parking was plentiful. The apartment was comfortable, nicely decorated and very well equipped. Kitchen had all the basics and lots more from small appliances to baking pans to spices. Air conditioning and Wi-Fi worked well. We also enjoyed time in the garden at the back of the house. Ellen is a gracious host who will ensure her guests are well informed about the area and have everything they need. Would happily stay here again."

- "Ellen was super sweet and showed us everything we needed for our stay. She also gave us lots of information about the town… where to eat, things to see and do. Great Host!!" - "I booked this property for a girls trip to Hudson. Prior to our visit, Ellen provided a detailed outline of recommendations ranging from tours, to restaurants, to the best places to go for a swim. It really helped in our planning as this was our first time to the town. Upon arrival, she showed us around the property which is stunning. Every piece of artwork has a story and the backyard garden had hummingbirds to welcome us! The rooms themselves were spacious and was more than enough space for 3 women. The kitchen had every gadget and pot/pan you would need to cook a feast with dishes to spare. The bathroom had a lovely tub/shower with the softest towels, and plenty of shampoo, conditioner, and soaps. I’ve stayed in other VRBOs which are so minimally stocked, but not this place. She really went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Additionally, the home was spotless. The beds were very comfortable with real furniture, not the cheap IKEA furniture some short term rentals will offer. The photos do show the beauty of the place, but really the amenities and high quality comfort of the furniture ensured a great stay. And last but not least, it’s a block away from the main shopping/restaurant area- Warren Street. So once you park your car, you won’t need it again until you’re ready to head home. You can easily walk to all the best spots in town. It was a great time and for anyone thinking about where to stay in Hudson….. go visit Ellen and this beautiful home. You won’t be disappointed!"

- "This small, clean apartment was perfect for our needs. Great location for walking to area shops and restaurants. The hosts were very responsive to our texts. I would definitely choose to stay here again." - "The apartment was so lovely and in a wonderful location! Nicole was very friendly and responsive to anything we needed. Highly recommend!" - "While I agree with some of the other reviews about there being street noise, the noise was primarily only noticeable in the larger bedroom and Nicole considerately provided ear plugs on the nightstand. The smaller bedroom is cozy and quiet and the kitchen is super clean and spacious with excellent counter and table space, which I took full advantage of as I assembled a wedding cake that I drove from my home in Michigan. I couldn’t have asked for a better kitchen away from home. It is also blocks away from Warren Street and, at least when we were there, there was ample street parking right in front. The backyard is charming and all the people we encountered in the building were super friendly. I brought my 88 year old dad with me and he repeatedly said, if we ever come back to Hudson, he wants to stay here again. And, while there are three stairs to get into the apartment, it is very accessible for people with mild mobility impairments (my dad walks the the assistance of a cane and he was easily able to navigate the stairs into the apartment). Nicole was also on top of it with communication and checked in on us throughout our stay, which I greatly appreciated. The only teeny tiny issue I had was, when we initially got there, I wasn’t exactly sure how to get in because the sign on the gate you enter for the apartment is a little bit faded (however, it is possible I just missed it because I was tired from a long drive)."

We LOVE long term stays!!!!
We also really WANT to accommodate the weary traveler who needs accommodations for one night, but that is very expensive for us so there is a $50 surcharge)
This country craftsman schoolhouse has 4 renovated 750 Sq. ft classroom lofts, each with it's own private back entrance. I guess there's no need to tout the perks of this place, being in a park setting, totally removed from any living soul with acres and acres to stroll and explore. it's a 7 minute stroll to Warren st through the cemetery short cut!!
- "The quirky, comfortable rooms at the Cemetery Schoolhouse were well appointed with everything we needed for our stay. The location was perfect for strolls in the historic cemetery and a quick walk away from downtown Hudson." - "My girlfriend and I were looking to get away from NYC for a weekend, so we explored a number of Hudson Valley towns before choosing to stay in Hudson. When we saw the listing for a converted schoolhouse, where each room had its own character, we knew we found the right location. Laura, the property manager, was so friendly and an incredible personality who was willing to offer any suggestions for the weekend. Only a 5 minute drive into town, which was ideal for going back and forth."

The Pink House is a fully renovated 1900 Queen Ann style two family home with the entire second floor apartment available. Located in a quiet neighborhood but just a short walk to the Hub of Hudson, Warren St, with antique shops, art galleries, clothiers, restaurants and pubs. The Amtrak Train station to Manhattan or Albany is within walking distance and is located near the newly renovated Riverside Park. At the park you may sit beside the Mighty Hudson River and witness a glorious sunset with the Catskill mountains in the distance. Or lounge on the Pink House's front porch and see the sun setting down behind the birch tree leaves. We have outfitted the Pink House with just about all you will need for your stay, even Krups coffee, (with sugar but not food). The apartment is appointed with attractive, comfortable furniture and furnishings, original art work and of course linens, cooking and table wear. The rooms are airy and light filled with central heat and air conditioning. Of note, the apartment is not kid safe so please, no children under 12 years of age.
- "Historical home nicely renovated. Clean and comfortable with updated kitchen. Location is in walking distance to shopping and restaurants. Plenty of parking on a one way street. Quiet neighborhood. Is on second floors so must be able to climb stairs. Easy check-in process. Responsive host who lives downstairs. Be sure to check out her shop just a short walk away. Highly recommend this property and location. "

- "The property was in a great location and central to the main street and all of the great activities and shops/restaurants in the City! Iris was a great host and available at all times. We had three bedrooms so our son and daughter could visit the City with us. The apartment was very spacious and had everything that we needed. We would definitely stay here again on our next trip to Hudson!" - "This was a fine stay in the charming town of Hudson. Location can't be beat. Walking distance to the train and most things. Host is very communicative and responsive. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. Two bedrooms have A/C. One bathroom, the shower has very low water pressure. Very large and spacious apartment. Very charming and quaint, but could use a bit of an update and a deep cleaning. But overall, for location and value, I don't think this can be beat in Hudson."

Unbeatable location! Enjoy everything Hudson has to offer in this newly renovated 2- bed 1-bath apartment on Warren Street. Just steps away from the best restaurants, galleries, antique shops and bars in town.
The unit is two floors above a bar and it can get noisy on weekend nights. However, you'll be on the top floor of the building so the noise shouldn't be too disruptive. You will receive a discount at Lawrence Park, the bar downstairs (details provided when booked).
We do not advise guests with children to stay here on the weekends given the noise from the bar below.
- "Great location and spacious apartment! My family and I loved staying here and being in such close proximity to all of Warren street’s restaurants and shops. Would love to stay here again!" - "The space was lovely. Well curated. There was a noisy bar below. It was noted in the description. The most noise was from people congregating in the street as they left. The toaster was missing. Space was described as having 2 bathrooms. It had one. The hallway and stairs outside the space were quite dirty. A hairdryer and washcloths would have been appreciated as well as hangers and luggage racks or hanging shelves in the closets. The washer and dryer were much appreciated….as well as the decor. I would recommend this location."

- "The property was misrepresented as two bedroom when only one. The location of the second bed does not have a door nor a closet. A desk was listed and not in the apartment. I used the apartment for remote work and needed a desk. Many of the power outlets did not work. The lamps in the bedroom with a door did not have light bulbs. When the oven and stove did not work, the owner responded 6 hours later after I notified VRBO and Evolve. She told me the stove needed to be plugged in. This required me to move the oven away from the wall and plug in the 240 V power plug. I also move the oven back to the original location. The oven did work after I plugged it in. I feel this is unreasonable to ask a guest to do.I had safety concerns because the door to the apartment could not be secured from within the apartment as it opened out into the hallway and did not have a secondary lock on the inside."

Nestled between a natural wine shop and an art gallery, the luxurious Warren St. Suite welcomes you to live like a Hudson local. Situated directly on Warren Street, everything you must see while visiting Hudson are within walking distance (including the Amtrak station).
The suite is equipped with all you need to feel right at home—a king Casper mattress, Brooklinen linens, Le Creuset cookware, local treats & more. Plus our backyard fire pit area!
The Warren St. Suite is an open concept one-bedroom apartment that's over 1,000 sq. ft. The large living room is furnished with a Lulu & Georgia sofa and Sixpenny chair (trust me, these are the most comfortable pieces of furniture you will ever sit on). Antiques from the Hudson Valley line the rest of the room, along with a 55" Samsung Frame TV.
The Warren St. Suite has central air conditioning (most places here in Hudson do not, so make sure to check!) and central heat. We also have an electric fireplace in the bedroom.
The outdoor space is my personal favorite. There is a quaint area with two patio chairs where you can enjoy a glass of wine (or sparking apple cider) and listen to the sounds of Hudson. The yard is equipped with a shared fire pit area—perfect for s’mores!
The open-concept bedroom is furnished with a Crate & Barrel bed frame, Casper mattress, and Brooklinen pillows & sheets. It also has a small seating area around a marble CB2 table. There are three large closets in this room: one with the washer/dryer, one with hangers and a luggage rack, and the last one equipped with supplies, games, puzzles & empty shelving space for your belongings.
The kitchen is truly equipped with everything you could possibly need (yes, we even have a waffle maker). It's perfectly set up for cooking a meal (honorable mention for our Le Creuset non-stick pots & pans and Graza cooking oil) and for making coffee in the morning (french press with local ground beans or our handy Nespresso machine). We've also got you covered with Anthropologie dinnerware and CB2 glassware (wine glasses and champagne flutes, too!).
The bathroom has a walk-in shower and is full of Hudson Made products: shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap and lotion.
The suite is completely private--there are no shared interior spaces. The backyard is shared with another apartment, but there is plenty of space for all to enjoy the backyard at once (although, that rarely happens).
I am readily available via the Airbnb app. In a pinch, you can reach me via phone and text as well!
Walk out of your front door right onto Warren Street--the main shopping and dining area of Hudson. Our street is lined with coffee shops, restaurants, attractions, shopping and more. You can easily explore all that Hudson has to offer by foot--not care required. Because of our central location, it's typical to overhear conversations of passersby, the sound of cars driving by or our neighbors listening to music. It's all part of the Hudson charm.
Although we recommend exploring the area by foot, we also offer parking for one car on site. It's a dedicated, off-street parking spot in our driveway. The Amtrack train station is within walking distance of our suite. If you are traveling to Hudson by train and would like to rent a car, please ask us if our Jeep Wrangle or Tesla Model Y are available for rent during your stay.
Our building was built in 1800 and has recently been remodeled with brand new finishes from top to bottom. Because of her old statute, it’s common to hear footsteps above you or overhear conversations from our neighbors or passersby. We have a white noise machine that helps mask the sound, but it’s a possibility you may still hear some noises every now and then! Part of the charm of being right on Warren St.

We had a car with us and while there isn’t assigned parking, we had no issue finding a spot nearby. That said if you don’t have a car, you’ll have no trouble walking to your destinations in town. As a host, Ashley was communicative but not overbearing. The little treats left were such a nice touch as well! Hopefully we’ll be able to make it back again!"

Other things to note
Please keep in mind that this listing is the very essence of the uniqueness that defines Airbnb. It is an old building with all that implies. Built in 1900 it was a school for 50 to 60 years, then a Tool Factory. Bought in the 90's by Artist & NYC Art Dealer Robert Pardo as an experimental Museum, Exhibition & Studio Space, it has hosted many Artist in Residence & provided them alternative live work space over the years.
It retains its original charm even with the additions of kitchen and bathroom to each "classroom". This place is not advised for those looking for a generic & steril hotel room type stay! It's old with many rough edges, ... artists have lived here!! and spiders conspire while I sleep, as to wear they will spin their next web just to piss me off. So please be ready to cope with idiosyncrasies of a Century old building that has survived floods, 117 winters, paint splatterings and the less than kind ravages of time!
This listing can accommodate 3, if two are sharing the King bed, but please be aware that this accommodation is the shaggy sofa bed pictured or we can drag out the air mattress
This romantic refuge, conveniently located only one flight above Warren Street, is bright, spacious, peaceful, and filled with Parisian-style charm.

Burkestone Estate features two barns, 5 suites, areas for outdoor dining and a main house, or "Lady in Waiting" as she is known 'round these parts. The latter is a center hall Victorian built in 1900 that we are renovating to return her to her former grandeur. The plan for the barns include a wedding venue and microbrewery. We've recently begun this journey and are excited to invite you to be part of the process.
