• Ski Access Nearby: The building does not have a ski lift, but it is conveniently located right next to the slopes.

• Free Shuttle Service: A complimentary shuttle operates on demand, approximately every 30 minutes to nearby Sugar Ski. For schedule details, please check with the front desk.

• Ski Equipment Rentals: The ski equipment rental store has moved from inside the condo building to Sugar Mountain Resort. Guests can access this store via the free shuttle service. For more ski rentals and resort info, visit skisugar . com (no website links allowed).

• Parking Information: Parking is not assigned at check-in, and the upper-level parking near the building is reserved for homeowners. During the busy season, all guests will need to park in the lower-level lots and take the shuttle to the front entrance. The resort has five parking levels below the main building, offering plenty of space for all visitors.

• On-site parking is only available when the shuttle is not operating. If the shuttle service is running, all rental guests must park in the lower lot and use the shuttle to reach the building.

• Weather Advisory: During the winter months, snowfall can accumulate quickly, even after paths are cleared. If you're visiting in snowy conditions, we recommend utilizing the complimentary shuttle service for easier and safer commutes.

• Access Reminder: Please note that from December through January, 4WD (Four-Wheel Drive) or AWD (All-Wheel Drive) vehicles are mandatory for accessing Grousemoor Road leading up to Sugartop. This requirement is enforced by the Sugar Mountain Police Department (SMPD). SMPD will be stationed at the bottom of Grousemoor Road and will issue tickets to vehicles that do not meet these requirements. Please ensure everyone in your group has a suitable vehicle for these months.

• Note: Sugar Top Resort does not feature ski-in/ski-out access. However, Sugar Mountain Ski Resort offers this amenity if you're looking for direct slope access from accommodations.

This apartment is perfect Mountain getaway for a “Couple’s Retreat” or a couple with two kids. Location is very convenient (close to grocery store and restaurants, 10' from Banner Elk) and we never heard a car. There is a larger unit upstairs but our neighbors were quiet. The heater is loud, however. We kept ours off at night but heard theirs. The cabin is cute and well decorated. Everything is new and works great - loved the fireplace on a timer (30 to 120 minutes) and the large bathroom. There is no hot tub in that unit. Also, the terrace is huge and on the edge of wilderness (rhododendrons - must be gorgeous in June), so we had our privacy."

• Ski Access Nearby: The building does not have a ski lift, but it is conveniently located right next to the slopes.

• Free Shuttle Service: A complimentary shuttle operates on demand, approximately every 30 minutes to nearby Sugar Ski. For schedule details, please check with the front desk.

• Ski Equipment Rentals: The ski equipment rental store has moved from inside the condo building to Sugar Mountain Resort. Guests can access this store via the free shuttle service. For more ski rentals and resort info, visit skisugar . com (no website links allowed).

• Parking Information: Parking is not assigned at check-in, and the upper-level parking near the building is reserved for homeowners. During the busy season, all guests will need to park in the lower-level lots and take the shuttle to the front entrance. The resort has five parking levels below the main building, offering plenty of space for all visitors.

• On-site parking is only available when the shuttle is not operating. If the shuttle service is running, all rental guests must park in the lower lot and use the shuttle to reach the building.

• Weather Advisory: During the winter months, snowfall can accumulate quickly, even after paths are cleared. If you're visiting in snowy conditions, we recommend utilizing the complimentary shuttle service for easier and safer commutes.

• Access Reminder: Please note that from December through January, 4WD (Four-Wheel Drive) or AWD (All-Wheel Drive) vehicles are mandatory for accessing Grousemoor Road leading up to Sugartop. This requirement is enforced by the Sugar Mountain Police Department (SMPD). SMPD will be stationed at the bottom of Grousemoor Road and will issue tickets to vehicles that do not meet these requirements. Please ensure everyone in your group has a suitable vehicle for these months.

Common Questions/Concerns:
PARKING: SugarTop check-in/parking process has a reputation. Some positive changes have been instituted, but it is admittedly still far from perfect. Guests are initially permitted to unload at the Main Entrance, but are then often required to park in one of the lower lots, down by the gate house. Our brand-new free shuttle will pick you up at the entrance of your lot to take you right back up to the Main Entrance within a minute or two!
*Note: In non-peak times you may be able to stay parked right up at the top, just ask!
**Note: Handicap Parking is located at the top.
***Pro-Tip! Load in, then send one person down to park. 👍 When going out, send one person to get the car and pick everyone else up at the Main Entrance!

A/C: SugarTop condos do not have A/C but are *naturally* cooled with average summer highs of 73-75 and lows of 55-57 degrees! There are fans in the unit (or just prop the bedroom, front, and sliding doors open and crack the windows for the most amazing mountain breeze!)

The space
This one bedroom unit is close to everything you come to Sugar Mountain for and has a full kitchen in case you want to stay in for a meal. Just 300 yards (5-7 minute walk) down a hill to the Lodge/slopes, golf and tennis or less than a minute if you want to drive & park there. Perfect so you can run home to eat or have a quick drink when you are enjoying the outdoors. No central A/C in the summer but we do offer floor fans if needed, however the beautiful weather on the mountain barely requires that. Washer/Dryer inside the unit is available for your use. And a private balcony to enjoy a glass of wine & tapas in the evening. Snowden has everything you need for an enjoyable getaway!

Other things to note
During the busier months at SugarTop, there is an overflow parking lot that is often used for guests. If you need to park your car here, there is a shuttle that runs regularly throughout the day that can get you to and from your car to the front door.
