The Shack is away from main residence with separate entrance. Shared space is parking area though space is there specific for your parking. You are welcome to use the spa pool area but please note NOT the spa pool.

Views from the Shack are rural but limited. If you wish to see better views from the main residence please ask.

This is suitable for a romantic getaway or for just a place to rest and unwind.

The deck is protected from wind with a clear screen. A heater is inside for the colder weather

There are two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and two with bunk beds in the second bedroom. It is more suitable for a single person or couple. Please bring your own linen for the bunk room or sleeping bags. Linen can be provided, please enquire.

Our location is very quiet: no traffic noise, just the occasional sound of surf and birds. Not just for horse lovers.

The space
This is a brand-new, high quality, purpose built 61m2 loft above a lifestyle-property barn for horses, with two horse boxstalls and riding arena. Features include all top quality Miele appliances including dishwasher, heat pump, stunning granite countertop, tiled throughout, quality mid-century Danish teak furniture. There is a comfortable deck to relax on and enjoy the views, and occasionally watch the horses being trained in the arena.

Note, the beds for additional guests in the lounge are a fold down double couch, reasonably comfortable with an added roll-out foam topper (provided), and two roll-out trundle beds, suitable for kids but not comfortable for adults.

Please note that the accommodation is a loft above our barn, but it is rarely accessed (primarily to store the horse truck). The concrete pad below may be used occasionally during the day by myself or a friend to saddle horses to ride in the arena, but we don’t keep horses in the stables. If you require complete privacy, please let us know and during your stay we will endeavor to keep away from the barn as much as possible. Thank you :-)

Other things to note
Wifi has just been upgraded with a nearby tower installed by Spark May 2021. Generally Download up to approx 30mbps, upload approx 20mbps, though this can vary based on Spark demand. Usually the speed is more than adequate to watch HDTV and work from "home" using video conferencing on Zoom, Teams etc. Included on the smart TV are Netflix, Amazon Prime Video (content limited availability in NZ), and other apps, various international news channels, NZ TV 1,2,3 On-demand, YouTube etc. Note, we do not have Freeview TV for the remainder of the free NZ commercial tv channels. If you have a Hulu, Disney+ or other account, you can access these services on the TV by logging into your own account.

The Unit is completely self contained and private from the main house. The bedroom has a seating area which is a perfect spot for reading or just relaxing. The Unit is in a rural setting on a lifestyle block with stunning views of Bream Bay and the Hen and Chicjken Islands. It's less than 10 minutes drive from the historic Waipu village and some of the most stunning beaches in NZ. Waipu is home to the iconic Pizza Barn and Craft Brewery. There is a good selection of eateries and a four square.
We are a 40 minute drive from Whangarei and the Town Basin, home to the Hunterwasser Gallery which is well worth a visit. There is also a lovely restaurant with great views over the water.

With rural and sea views, on the hill between Waipu Cove and Langs Beach, our private guest house is an ideal place to rest and restore. A spa on the patio, with access to a large garden and a labyrinth path, a 12m pool, a gym, 3 hectares of bush walks, swimming hole, and a few minutes drive to beaches it has all the options for a wonderful holiday. It is 2 mins drive to the The Cove Restaurant, 10 mins to Waipu town, with cafes and museum and 15 mins to Mangawhai with cafes and markets.

The pool is heated between Labour Weekend until Anzac Weekend. Pets are welcome and the house is fully fenced. The property has another guest facility, Ruru Lodge House, which has max of 8 people. The lodge is quite private from the guest house, but the pool, garden, bush and gym are shared. It is also available for rent (4 bedroom 2 bathroom).
