The Cottage which stands where the original early settler's stable stood 170 year ago, was built re-using largely the timber of the old building. Horse equipment in the cottage date from 1860. This heritage property is listed as one of Auckland special character buildings.

The house is about 400 sqm so plenty of space to spend time elsewhere in the house.
In your end of the house there are two rooms that's only used for guests.
Just outside the two rooms you also have your own lounge and dining area with TV and a fridge, coffee machine, toaster, microwave etc. where you can make you own breakfast or keep your wine cold in the fridge, but for cooking you will need to go up to the kitchen.
There are also two decks, one turning into the pool and the other one into the garden and a shared bathroom and separate toilet at your end. So this end give you a great feel of privacy.

A long hallway separates you a bit from the other end of the house where I live and two other guys. We all share the kitchen, laundry, another separate toilet, dining and a lounge with a tennis table as well as the outdoor area with a pool and bbq that you are welcome to use anytime.

Browns Bay village is just a 5 min walk away, well 10 min when going back as it then goes uphill ;)
There you have all the restaurants, bars, caffees, supermarkets, hairdressers, Gym, clothes shops etc.
Every Sunday there is a Sunday Market In Browns Bay with a great atmosphere.

We are located in North Shore, Auckland, and only 6 min-driving away from Albany shopping centre - with one of the largest Westfield shopping malls. The self-contained unit has a huge kitchen island, indoor and outdoor (a massive deck with 2 sun umbrellas) dining areas with fantastic countryside views. An air-conditioner and a fireplace mainly control the temperature of the unit. Heaters are installed in bathrooms specifically for winter. Outside of the house, you can enjoy the silence and peacefulness of nature and more importantly, our 3 Ha land is even big enough for mini hiking! Sometimes there are mosquitoes especially in the warmer months. A mozzie zapper is provided for your comfort - it is on the wall above the kitchenette, to the left of the white cupboard. This is automatic, so if you do not wish to have this going, please let us know and we will remove it for the duration of your stay.

The space
Our guesthouse is situated in a loft above our garage, with its own access. It is a large open studio space with a Queen bed, sofa bed, TV, kitchenette with toaster, fridge, microwave, sandwich press and kettle, wi-fi, iron and ironing board and hairdryer. Note there are no stove (oven or hob) facilities.

We can provide a portacot if there is a baby staying, and the sofa folds out and doubles as an extra bed. Note, the sofa bed is not super comfy and really only designed for children. With the sofa bed down, floor space is limited. Extra guests (over 2) cost $50 each

In the guesthouse is a private ensuite with shower, toilet and vanity. This is located at the base of the loft down a short flight of carpeted stairs.

In the guesthouse is a comprenhensive manual answering most guest questions, as well as a range of tourist guides.

We have a large garden and pool (only operational in the summer) and views of the city, including the Sky Tower. The garden is a very private tranquil place and guests often comment that when they are in the guesthouse they forget they are in the city!

Our home is an old restored villa in Mt Eden, with much of the original charm; pull chain toilets, 10-foot ceilings and large sash windows. It is important to note that while it has all the comfortable amenities, it's not brand new, it is old-fashioned and quaint - which adds to the charm.

We have plenty of private off-street parking and you are welcome to park up the drive.

Bookings can be made three months in advance. We are not open to long term bookings.

The guesthouse is strictly non-smoking.

Our pricing is dynamically managed by AirBnB, based on demand at the time. Pricing is more expensive in peak holiday times, summer and if there are events on in the city.

Due to Covid 19 we don’t allow back to back bookings. This ensures there is plenty of time to thoroughly clean between bookings.

Other things to note
Check-out is 10am, check-in is flexible, depending on if someone is checking out or not. If we have guests checking out we need to allow time to clean the space - so realistically it wont be ready until after 3pm. If you arrive on an early flight and the previous guests are still checking out, we can store your luggage until the loft has been serviced and is ready for you. These arrangements need to be made in advance of your arrival. Likewise, you can store your luggage post checkout and collect it later in the day.

We have a Burmese cat, Bruce. Some guests allow him in the guesthouse... as he is very friendly! You can keep him out if want ( just by closing the door) , but if you’re severely allergic to cats then you might want to look for other accommodation as he does go in there and his scent is there.

Remuera is a lovely leafy suburb 5km from CBD. 1min to bus stop. 10 min walk to Remuera Village with cafes/ restaurants & shopping. Train station is 15mins walk . Newmarket is 20 mins walk or 5mins drive. with Westfield Shopping mall largest in NZ, 240 stores with alfresco rooftop dining.

The space
Our guests say they love the studio and the location and they can sit outside and hear the birds sing. What they love the most is it has its own access so they can come and go. Also good for late check-ins.

Please note there is a boat in the drive way you will need to walk around it.

Light switches are by the wardrobe at the far end of the studio.
I usually leave a light on if you are coming in late - just let me know.

We also have a dog but he remains on the deck locked in and does not enter your space. If you see our reviews you will see that Max our dog is quite a character and people do love to meet him. We are not all dog people so I am aware and keep him away.
