Local shopping centre with supermarket, chemist and library are 10mins walk/5mins drive from the house. We are a 5mins drive from NP airport/10mins drive to New Plymouth CBD and approx 30mins drive to Mt Taranaki. Walking distance to Bell Block Beach and the scenic Coastal Walkway from Bell Block to NP in an hour. Great for a weekend/short visit to the region.

Spacious sleepout/studio located in our backyard/garden area. Open plan layout: kings size bed, kitchen area, small TV seating area and separate bathroom with shower. Kitchen stocked with tea & coffee, toaster, plates, cups, cutlery etc provided. Has a microwave and refrigerator but does not have an oven or stovetop cooking facility. All kept spotlessly clean and tidy.

Get a great night's sleep on the comfortable queen size bed, relax on the sofa with some Netflix, get refreshed in the modern shower or catch a bus into town from the corner of the street. The location of this modern unit is also only a stone's throw from the beautiful local domain, featuring picturesque woodland walks and a popular swimming hole.

The unit is located behind our family home, but has it's own private access (separate fenced pathway beside our house) and it's own private patio area which looks out onto a vegetable garden.

The recently built unit features an open plan kitchen, dining, living area, separate bedroom with plenty of storage space and it's own bathroom, complete with shower, toilet, sink and vanity. The unit features a newly installed heat pump to keep you cool in summer and warm in winter.

In the compact kitchen area you will find a sink, 2-ring hob, fridge freezer, kettle, toaster, microwave and necessary kitchen utensils, crockery, pots, pans and glassware. Complimentary tea and coffee are included. Please note there is no oven or dishwasher.

The living area features a modern couch, perfect for 2 people. There is a TV, with Netflix and a coffee table. There is also a small dining table with 2 chairs and a view of the vegetable garden.

The living area opens out onto a small private concrete patio, with chairs for enjoying the warm summer afternoons.

The bedroom features a queen size bed with high quality mattress, all bedding provided, mirror, bedside units with lamps for any night time reading, heated towel stand and drawers for storage. There is a sliding door to the living area. There is a hanging unit with coat hangers in the cupboard off the living area.

The small bathroom features a good quality shower, toilet, vanity with sink and mirror. Hand soap, toilet paper, towels and washcloths are provided.

We can provide secure storage for bikes, surf boards etc in our garage upon request.

Guest access
Guests will have their own private space in the unit, and their own private pedestrian pathway from the roadside to access it. Guests may request the use of our washing machine or dryer in our garage, and this can be arranged.

Other things to note
You *may* hear our children or our friendly little dog playing in our driveway occasionally, but they are generally quiet, and your patio area is fenced off from them.
If we need to turn our sprinkler on/off in our vegetable garden, we will message you to let you know (the dining area of the unit looks directly onto the vegetable garden).

This cozy studio guest house with a super king Ecosa memory foam bed and full kitchen is a one minute walk to the beach and coastal walkway. With guest bikes included in your rental, the best things New Plymouth has to offer are at your fingertips, including East End and Fitzroy beaches, the stunning Coastal and Te Henui walkways, and the CBD. Grab one of our boogie boards and catch some waves in summer, use your guest bikes to ride into town, or rug up and stroll down the black sand beaches.

The space
You'll enter off a private deck adjacent to our garden, beside your own private parking space. The studio is compact, with a partition that closes to separate living from sleeping spaces when needed. Your memory foam mattress is made up with high thread count sheets, a super solid Yona bed frame, and both memory foam and down alternative pillow options. Towels are ultrasoft cotton from Renee Taylor.

The full kitchen has a compact gas oven and stovetop, a full-sized fridge, and French Press coffee essentials (including milk). The bathroom includes a compact shower and essentials. A covered area on the deck offers respite from rain or sun, where you can enjoy a cup of coffee or a takeaway dinner on the patio. The sofa faces the Smart TV and a small breakfast table. You'll rent the entire guest house with its private deck, and have full use of the locked garden storage shed where your bikes are stored. The backyard and driveway are shared, so you may bump into us coming and going.

You'll rent the entire guest house, accessed by lockbox key, and have access to our backyard and the garden bike shed for storing bikes or surfboards.

At " Hideaway off Heta" you will find the quiet and tranquility you are seeking. Our property is 1/3 of an acre bordering bush reserve. Birdsong is a constant and you may catch a glimpse of our beloved native Kereru ( Wood Pigeon) Our hope for guests is that they will enjoy our hospitality and soak up the restful tranquility. The central location we offer provides ease of access for any of the exciting events that we host here in New Plymouth.

The space
Ours is a roomy, quality built dwelling set in a beautifully quiet and tranquil setting. While we are not providing a private lounge as such there are communal spaces about the house where you can sit and and enjoy quiet if you wish.

Guest access
You are welcome to enjoy any of the downstairs space ( excluding the work room behind the garage) Although if you are interested in 70's motorbikes Dennis would be glad to show you. You are also welcome to view the upstairs on request where I carry out my bespoke shoemaking business.

During your stay
Our attitude is "We are here if you need us" and happy to mingle but equally happy to let you be and enjoy the surroundings.

Other things to note
We have three cats that on the whole live outside.
The only other "pet" I have is my husband he is well "house trained"😆. He is usually confined to the kitchen or the bedroom and occasionally "strays" into the garage😉
