The space
The cottage is cosy and perfect for couples. There are two short flights of stairs connecting the kitchen and bathroom, on the lower floor, with the sitting room above (on the ground floor) and the bedroom on the top floor. Please be warned that, because this is an old property, the bedroom is up in the eaves and there is not much headspace or a great deal of room on either side of the bed (see the photo of the bedroom).

Guest access
You can park directly outside the cottage, but the parking space isn't large enough to accommodate very big cars. However, there is a car park just a few yards away if you have a larger vehicle and it's easy to park there and unload when you arrive. It is free to park for up to 4 hours and there are two free 24-hour car parks a couple of minutes walk away.

You will have exclusive use of the cottage during your stay. The cottage is self contained and there is no shared communal space or access.

Tall Trees is a classic honey-stoned cotswold cottage, located on a private estate between Stow on the Wold and Bourton on the Water. It is a fantastic base from which to explore the Cotswolds either along the many local footpaths or by car.

The space
Formerly a school-house for the children on the estate, Tall Trees has been sympathetically converted into a one-bedroom, ground floor cottage, with a high-beamed ceiling in the living room. A well-equipped modern kitchen awaits with a smeg fridge and coffee machine alongside everything else you might require. In winter months stock up the wood burner in the living room, and cosy up as the evenings draw in after a busy day exploring the Cotswolds.

The cottage is located with views of the walled vegetable garden and orchard.

Guest access
Several footpaths run alongside the edge of the estate, offering miles of walking along the beautiful rolling hills of the Cotswolds. The nearby village pub in Lower Swell - the Golden Ball - can be reached entirely via footpaths as can the picture-perfect village of Lower Slaughter.

Stow on the Wold is a short distance up the hill, with its variety of shops, pubs and restaurants, and both Daylesford Farm Shop and Soho Farmhouse are a short drive away.

The Cotswolds offers beautiful country lanes for cycling, wonderful walking and picturesque villages to visit such as Broadway, Bibury Row and Chipping Camden slightly further afield. Tall Trees is only half an hour from the wonderful Georgian spa town of Cheltenham, and forty minutes from the world-renowned university city of Oxford.

Public transport in Gloucestershire is extremely limited, as are taxi services and therefore we highly recommend that you have access to a car when visiting. There is space to park your car outside Tall Trees.

Underdean Lodge is a lovingly restored 2 double bedroom Georgian lodge on the edge of the Forest of Dean and is the perfect base for exploring both the Forest and the Wye Valley. The lodge includes beautiful period features and a wood burning stove. Dogs welcome.

Footpaths lead to the Forest from the front door. The Lodge is located adjacent to the A48 for convenient access to Gloucester, Monmouth and Chepstow which are all about 25 minutes away.

The space
We have restored this Grade 2 listed Georgian gate house sympathetically but with all the modern touches one requires for a comfortable stay away from home. The lodge is warm and cosy and despite its proximity to the road many guests report the road was not an issue thanks to high quality secondary and double glazing throughout.

There is a small garden area adjacent to the house and road. This is not fully enclosed and therefore care should be taken when allowing dogs out of the house.

The house is decorated throughout with prints and photos of the surrounding area and we have a large map in the kitchen to help you plan your days out and country walks.

We love dogs and welcome owners who wish to bring them however, we ask that dogs are kept off beds, sofas and furniture at all times.

This is the sister property to our other holiday let - The Hayloft which has one bedroom and one sofa bed, is on the same site but is not pet friendly

Guest access
The house is yours entirely for the duration of the stay and we hope that you enjoy your time in the area as much as we enjoy living here. Your dogs are of course welcome to stay but we ask that they are restricted to the downstairs areas of the house only.

A cosy barn conversion with all the modern amenities required to make your holiday comfortable and enjoyable. Situated in an acre of private grounds, accessed via a secure, gated driveway off the A48, this pretty, secluded and private property is the ideal location for some rest and relaxation. Wooden steps allow guests to enjoy a view of the meandering Colne Brook which runs nearby. Situated just 2 miles from the Forest

The space
With an acre of front and rear gardens, much of which is left uncultivated to encourage wildlife, the Barn is the perfect haven for animal and bird watchers alike. Buzzards frequently visit the area around the Barn and can be heard during the evenings calling to each other, along with owls, woodpeckers, dippers and many other species of bird. Rabbits and badgers are in abundance and there are fish in the brook which runs adjacent to the garden.

An outside hot/cold outside shower is provided for washing off muddy paws, giving your dog a full shampoo or for cleaning wellies.

Guest access
With a wild garden for dogs and wildlife to explore there is no need to leave the Barn for anything other than food and there are plenty of pubs offering meals within walking distance! Walking is a popular past-time in the Forest of Dean, as is exploring on bicycles which can be hired on the edge of the Forest. There is a bus stop at the end of the drive.

Other things to note
If cancellations are necessary due to Covid restrictions within our area or that of the guest, or if a guest is unable to attend due to illness, the guest (or we) will advise as soon as reasonably possible (or on the day the restrictions are announced) and if the circumstances are such that the holiday cannot be taken, we will refund the payment made. If the Barn remains un-booked and restrictions are lifted, the guest is at liberty to re-book their chosen dates.

We provide extra linen and towels and if you stay for two weeks or more.

Each guest receives a welcome pack, including tea, coffee and sugar to allow you to relax with a cuppa as soon as you arrive.

Mobile signals can be sporadic in the Forest so we have provided a telephone with honesty box so you can make any important phone calls.

Guest access
Easy access into the cottage driveway where there is parking for up to two cars. Our location is perfect for exploring both the Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley.

In the living room you'll find a stone surround fireplace with log burning stove. This part of the cottage dates back to 1832 and has ceiling beams. As part of your welcome a provision of logs will be placed alongside the log burner.

Other things to note
Wi-Fi is available throughout the cottage with good broadband speeds for streaming catch-up channel programmes on the internet-enabled TV.
There is some sound of vehicles in the garden of the property as we're off a B road but most people don't find any distraction from this. The birds singing outside the kitchen door get much more of their attention!

The kitchen includes all essential appliances: a hob, oven, microwave, toaster, kettle, and a fridge with a small freezer compartment.

Upstairs, you'll find the bathroom, complete with an electric shower over a bath, a sink, a toilet, and hotel-quality toiletries and towels.
