House Rules: We are in a working community so quiet time is before 8 am and after 10 pm, please. That's why we are the perfect property to relax and enjoy your vacation. We have a wonderful pool water feature and the pool is heated. Why heat a pool in Hawaii? The pools can drop 15 degrees during our winter months. So it's important to find that out when reserving a hotel or house in Dec, Jan, Feb, and March in Hawaii. The pool is open from 9 am to 8 pm but the pumps for the waterfall and slide turn off at 5 pm, you can still use the pool. Just can't have pumps going more than 8hrs a day for the slide. The pool is 36 feet long 3 1/2 feet to 7 1/2 feet deep. Once again I will mention the pool is shared with only us the owners. We have been asked by a few guests if they can hang out after 8 pm. The reason we have that in place is our community is like an amphitheater sounds travels far. Some guests were being very loud and our neighbors weren't too happy about the noise. With that said PLEASE don't have your children screaming while at the pool, again remember your booking in a working family community. So maybe a hotel would be a better fit if you're looking to party after 8 pm or have children that have to scream the whole day in a pool.

There are several beaches very close to the house depending on what you are interested in. When we go to the beach with our gear, we always drive. There is plenty of parking in front of the beaches and we have coolers, beach chairs, beach umbrellas, boogie boards, snorkel equipment, towels.

Here are all the distances to give you a better idea of our local beaches.
* Kalama Beach Park (0.5 mile, 5 min walk to beginning of the park) - retaining wall to the ocean and beach, small beach usually used by paddleboarders and surfers. Fantastic walk along the waterfront and where everyone gathers for sunset. The park is amazing with playground, tennis, volleyball, basketball, roller-skating rink and more
* Cove Park (0.7 miles, 10 min walk, 1 minute drive) - great for paddle boarding, wading in the water, beginner surf lessons leave from this beach

All the Kamaole beaches are considered some of the best beaches on Maui. We spend our beach time at Kamaole I.

This is a detached cottage and it features:

- Modern kitchen with new cabinets and granite counter tops

- All new stainless steel appliances including a dishwasher

- 1 large bedroom with a king size bed

- Shared exterior covered washer and dryer

- Updated bathroom. The shower and toilet area is quite small. Please consider this if you have mobility issues before booking. To further clarify there is not a lot of space in front of the toilet so your knees may touch the wall while sitting. Also the shower is relatively small with a low shower head. We want our guests to be aware of this before booking.

Great views of Maalea Bay and Harbor, West Maui Mts and the island of Lanai.....All can be seen from inside the cottage, deck or the front lawn! Lots of shopping, restaurants and activities nearby. Walk to nearby white sand beach - Makena Beach. Big Beach, which for years has been voted best beach in Hawaii, is a 5 minute drive from the cottage. Makena Memories: Our home has such wonderful memories for me...My grandparents originally built the little cottage as a place to come to on the weekends. My first memories are of the original design of the house...it was completely open on the front. Where the bedroom is now, had benches all the way around the sides. In the middle where the bathroom is, was where they locked up the bedding and cots. The kitchen was the kitchen and the bathroom was actual built next to the cottage and my grandfather kept his most precious possessions in there...his lawn mower and fishing nets. We had so much fun, everyone together like a big camp out, some in hammocks others on army cots, but all of us watching the fireworks in the sky. What I realized as I got older was that it wasn't fire works but the military bombing Koholawe island.
Through the years I learned how special our place is. I grew up there, learned to swim, got married there and now my son gets to experience it too.

Tucked away on a cul de sac, the THERE Maui Cottage is a tiny, detached cottage located in the backyard of its sister property, the THERE Maui House (our other larger vacation rental that sleeps 4). This sweet cottage features a split AC system, a kitchenette with a small stove and retro fridge, and a bedroom with queen size bed and recently renovated ensuite bathroom. Inspired by the ocean, it is well appointed with surf-chic decor and local artwork.

Looking to enjoy outdoor living in paradise? Open the dusty rose french doors to a large, private deck with firepit and your own BBQ grill. Sit under the fringed umbrella with a cup of local coffee in the morning or relax under the stars by the fire in the evening as you recount the day's adventures.

Welcome to Chez Maui! This cozy 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom cottage is just one block from the beach, offering a peaceful and private retreat. Perfect for your vacation or for remote workers, traveling healthcare professionals, snowbirds or those in transition to longer-term accommodation. The cottage comfortably hosts up to 4 guests maximum and has been recently renovated. *Make sure to turn on your notifications for Airbnb Messaging.*

The space
We are located in a lovely, quiet, local neighborhood. The property includes a main house in the front where other guests stay. There are 4 steps to enter the cottage. Walk to the beach, Kalama Park, the Cove and Kukui Mall as well as shopping and restaurants.

Please read all of the policies before requesting a booking to make sure our property is a good fit. (Below under “House rules”, “Show more”). If you have questions, click on “contact host” before making a booking request. Our listing is not child-proofed and contains tripping and falling hazards. It is also located close to a shared driveway. Due to these safety issues, our listing is not suitable for children under 10 years old.

We do require all guests to arrive before 9 pm as check-ins can be noisy and disturb the neighborhood at night. It takes a minimum of 1.5 hours from landing to arriving at the house without any delays, so your flight would need to land by 7:30 pm. We recommend as early as possible flights, as we can often check-in guests earlier than 4 pm.

Maui County short term rental licensing regulations do not allow anyone on the property except the registered guests. If you have friends or family in Maui, visiting or gathering will have to be at other locations.

When requesting or inquiring, enter the number of guests and list each guests name as well as the time you are landing. Make sure to turn on your notifications for Airbnb Messaging.

Other things to note
Your personal email address will be requested at the time of booking. A signed short term rental agreement is required and will be emailed for your esignature. Guests booking the property must be staying at the property - 3rd party bookings or subletting are not allowed unless booking through a company account.

We cannot accept check-ins after 9 pm. (All guests must check-in before 9 pm.)

Owners live on the property.

Beach chairs, beach towels, cooler and ice packs are provided.

*There is not an outdoor BBQ grill or use of grill on site.

*There is an outdoor security camera that monitors the driveway/entrance to the property. It does not monitor any private spaces.
