Unwind at the Tropical Island Villa (formally known as The Carambola Villa Retreat), a sophisticated and elegantly furnished 1.5-acre hideaway blessed with amazing views of rolling hills, lush tropical gardens and the ocean. The 3,500 square-foot villa accommodates 12 guests comfortably, but can be made available for up to a maximum of 16 with use of futons and a cot. 4 spacious bedrooms sit on either side of the Great Room, noted for it’s beautiful high Cyprus ceiling. 1 room has 2 King size beds, 2 twin size beds and a futon in a separate area, and a full bath with shower. 1 room has a king size bed and a full bath with shower. 1 room has a queen size bed, a futon, and a full bath with shower. And 1 room has a queen size bed, a futon, and a half bath in the room with an outdoor shower. There is also a cot that can be used if needed. There is a sitting room with a full scale entertainment center, 60” TV, and bar. We have Starlink hi-speed WIFI.

There will be an extra fee of $25 per person/ per night on parties of more than 8 due to an increased usage of power, water, and cleaning costs.

The open concept living room kitchen is ideal for preparing meals with your friends and family, which may be served in the dining area or the big patio. The kitchen is equipped with 16-Piece place setting, wine and champagne glasses and a Keurig coffee machine.

One of the main allures of the property is the expansive entertainment terrace, set with pool, BBQ, fire place and seating for 12 people for dining. Edged by the natural tropical gardens, here on the sunny deck you will marvel at the long distance sea views and gorgeous clear nights, surrounded by thousands of stars.

Facing the valley lies the most captivating feature of the Villa. The Villa boasts a tropical garden with multiple wooden decks and terraces that are connected by several bridges and pathways. The pathways connect a number of enticing sites, including another outdoor fireplace.

ACTIVITIES
Three miles away on the North Shore is the famous Cane Bay Beach, rated as one of the top dive sites in the entire Caribbean. This is also meeting point for sunset beach bars and incredible restaurants.
Take a a two mile hike with spectacular views of Annaly Bay and Carambola Beach (or take an adventurous Jeep tour) to St Croix's famous Tide Pools or try the Carambola Zipline or Horseback riding, right at the entrance to the Carambola Golf Course.
Another one of St Croix’s attractions is The Bioluminescent Bay in Salt River Bay National Park. It’s the historic site that Christopher Columbus landed on his second voyage to the New World, but come by night and see the water glow!
The Villa is also within a 15-minute drive to the island’s two rum distilleries (Captain Morgan and Cruzan), where you can tour the facilities and learn about the process of making our island's signature rums.
Danish architecture awaits you in the two towns of Christiansted and Frederiksted where you will find many historic buildings, old forts, fishing charters and duty free shopping! Try your luck at Divi Carina Bay Casino on the island’s east end.

ABOUT CARAMBOLA GOLF CLUB
In colonial Danish times, the Carambola valley was a large estate for the cultivation of sugar cane. The ruins of an 18th-century sugar factory are still to be seen behind the golf course clubhouse. Sugar cane was grown in the valley until the early 1960's when the late Laurence Rockefeller bought most of the property in the area because he felt that it was an ideal location for the development of winter homes and a luxury resort.

To set this in motion he built the golf course as its centerpiece. While Mr. Rockefeller himself never did any further development in Carambola, a hotel was built on the north shore and over the years some one hundred homes have been built in the Carambola area. These homes range from spacious hill-top residences to condominium-style villas on the golf course, all within an exclusive gated community.

In addition to the amenities provided by the club, the close proximity to the beautiful North shore provides swimming from sandy beaches in warm Caribbean waters, boating, fishing, and scuba diving, all making it an exceptionally desirable warm-weather home location.

Only 15 minutes from downtown Christiansted, and 20 minutes from downtown Fredericksted, this property is centrally located if you're looking to venture across the island during your trip! The owner of the property is happy to take you on guided hikes to the tide pools, lighthouse, into the rain forest to see the beer drinking pigs, or better yet take you to some of the best shore diving spots on the island. The 1 bedroom comes equipped with a full size bed, and a twin size day bed . A kitchen with gas stove, microwave, and fridge also await you at The Mermaid. A desk at the window is the perfect place to get some work done. The Mermaid Rest is part of the Windchime Estates, a property known for it's constant Eastern breezes, and built from pieces of the late trimaran which sailed the world twice, Windchime! You'll want to rent a Jeep while staying at the property as the roads on the island can be rough to drive at times. WIFI and a light breakfast is included, and so is your very own bottle of Cruzan Rum! You will absolutely love your stay at The Mermaid! Full use of the apartment named The Mermaid, and access to an outdoor gazebo, as well as the patio with swing in-front of the apartment. We're very friendly, and love meeting new people. We also understand when you just want to be alone or do your own thing! Happy to help when needed, or head out to a bar or restaurant too! We live on the North Shore Scenic Route, with some of the best views of the island. Our home and apartments sit above Windsor's Forest, a nature preserve. Deer regularly roam through the neighborhood and yard. We're just a few minutes from Cane Bay Beach, 10-15 from Christiansted, and 15-20 from Fredericksted. One of the most central spots on the island. You'll need to rent a car if you're staying with us on the North Shore, preferably with some height to it to help with the mountain roads. We recommend a Jeep. On the island, many of the roads are unpaved, or need to be repaved (pot holes everywhere!) Do not wait until the last minute to try and secure a rental vehicle. Make your reservation now. With workers and tourists, many times and vehicles cannot be secured the same day you arrive without a reservation. Besides, renting a Jeep means you get to take the top off and enjoy the island life the way it should be! :) We live in the mountains on St. Croix. It's beautiful, but the roads are not always maintained well by the Virgin Islands Government. We live on a dirt road, require you have a car rental at minimum (no public transport), and we recommend that you rent a Jeep or SUV when staying with us. In general, roads on St. Croix are not that great. Jeeps are the most popular vehicles on island, so be sure to rent one early!

The owner was great and very easy to work with and replied to us right away. We did not enjoy the ride to get up there, but we were warned about it in the description. You do need an SUV to travel up there. Thanks for the stay!" - "From the moment we arrived we felted welcomed. Will the property owner greeted us and showed us around. Annaly Mill was featured in HGTV 'You Live in What?' on March 29, 2013. It was 'home base' for Jon and Gina Brunson of 'Addicted to the Outdoors' tv show filmed on St. Croix and aired on the Outdoor Channel in December 2011 and January 2012.

This renovated historic sugar mill, built in 1803 for grinding sugar cane using wind power, was first transformed into a vacation retreat in 1946 by Ward Canaday, President of Willy’s Overland Inc. Mr. Canaday’s company provided all of the Jeeps for the US Armed Forces during World War II. Since then it has been visited by President Harry S. Truman and Queen Margrethe II of Denmark.

This apartment overlooks the Caribbean Sea on the south side of St. Croix and has a roomy open floor plan between the kitchen, living and dining areas. Cool and breezy by day and quiet and peaceful by night. Fantastic view of the Caribbean Sea and the island’s southwestern shore and 10 minutes away frI’m some of the island’s best beaches.

- "To start, when the door was opened for the first time I was amazed. Beautiful formal dinning area on the right. Nice kitchen with eat-at bar on the left. To the left is a large bedroom with its own seating area. To the right a nice bathroom with large shower. Step down to a large seating area. If that wasn't enough, step outside to a large balcony with a southerly view of the the ocean. Look left for the sunrise or the right for the sunset. All of this was from the second floor/upper level unit. To top this all off, the owner could not have been more responsive or accommodating. Whatever I needed, he was there to make my stay as comfortable as possible. And his restaurant recommendation was fantastic. I will stay here the next time I visit without reservation."
