- "We stayed 3 nights with our 10 yr old. We really enjoyed our stay. There are not a lot of recent reviews for this location and some things seem to have been updated. 1) This is an apartment and not a hotel. It has a kitchen and washer/dryer available for use (both of which were very helpful). There is a 2nd bedroom that is locked off and used by the owner's adult son during the day. However, we only saw him once and this was not an issue for us as our bedroom and private bathroom had a lock for privacy. The apartment is on the 3rd floor and the stairs are steep and narrow. At check in the host (Goran) did help us with our big bag but be aware that there is no elevator and you'll have to be able to get bags up/down. 2) Location was great and central. But be aware that it is 1 street over from the Red Light district and the entrance is 2 doors down from a strip club. We had to walk by numerous sex shops to get there from the train station. That part wasn't ideal, but we figured out a way around it. 3) Noise. We were a little worried that it might be too noisy given the location and the review regarding the church bell chimes. We didn't find the noise to be an issue. We enjoyed the church chimes, which ended around 10/11 p.m. There was some noise from the a pub/bar nearby each night but it died off around 10/10:30 pm and was not an issue with the windows closed. 4) Rooftop patio. This was a real highlight for us and we enjoyed having it. Overall, I highly recommend the place."

Sonnenberg is located on the Herengracht, in the historic centre of Amsterdam. Surrounded by the famous nine-streets, this historic canal house was built in 1649 for the Sonnenberg family. It is one of the few houses that still boast its original gable, which is a classical renaissance crow-stepped gable; this is a stair-step type of design at the top of the triangular gable-end of a building.

Not only the gable is still original, the interior with its solid oak beams as well as the winding staircase are original. It is not hard to imagine this Dutch merchant family doing business from this very location. This family remained owners of this historic canal house well into the 19th century, and perhaps the heirs of these Sonnenberg’s are the same Sonnenberg’s as those who are among the ten richest families of the Netherlands.

Sonnenberg - Description
This apartment is located on two floors. Two flights of stairs are circular and steep, and the first one is a straight flight. One enters the Sonnenberg apartment through the shared entrance on the beletage, after climbing a set of stone stairs of half a floor level. All floors have excellent views of the canals, and there is a bench on the porch as well as one on the canal side.

Behind the front door there is a hallway to the first set of steep circular stairs leading to a hallway on the first floor of the house. Practically every room in the house has its own adjustable radiators, it is quite easy to keep this house warm and comfortable in winter. As each room also has windows, it is quite easy to create a nice breeze in the house cooling it down in the summer. There are also fans available on the rare summer days that it is actually hot.

On the first floor there is a toilet in the hallway, and a door to the living/seating room. This floor has a beautiful wooden floor as well as beams supporting the floor above. In the front (canal side) of this floor there is a spacious living area with a bench overlooking the canal, a sofa and TV. This is a great area to relax after or before a day of exploring all the sights of Amsterdam. You will find a counter with limited facilities such as kettle, coffeemaker, toaster, oven/microwave, fridge, dishwasher and a large table in the back of the floor. We have cutlery, plates, cups and glasses to enjoy light meals, ordered in or prepared on the spot, unfortunately no full kitchen (stove and sink from counter are missing in compliance with local laws). We do have an easily accessible sink on this floor.

It is not hard to imagine enjoying a spending an evening with a good diner and equally good conversations at the large table with dimmed light shining from the chandelier. With ample heating present and friends swapping stories at the table, this is typically what the Dutch will call “gezellig”. The word “gezellig” is considered to be an example of untranslatability, and is one of the hardest words to translate. Some consider the word to encompass the heart of Dutch culture.

One floor up with the steep circular staircase there is the floor with one bedroom (twins) in the front, with canal views and the master bedroom in the back (optional with twins, on request). On this floor located in between the two bedrooms is the bathroom, with a toilet, sink, and a bath with shower. The bedrooms have wooden floors, gorgeous beams and the bathroom floor is marble.

It is distinctly different from other shopping districts as there is a large diversity of privately owned shops and specialized shops.

Staircases
This apartment has 2 internal flights. From street level to the entrance there is a short stone flight of stairs up to the front door. From here there is a circular flight of stairs to the Living/seating level. The circular staircase continues up to a floor with 2 bedrooms and the full bathroom. The stairs are steep and narrow, as is typical for a 400 year old house. However with closed doors stairs are not accessible.

I personally meet my guests at the apartment to make sure they settle in alright. During the stay I am always available, and many times organize boat tours or advise my guests on special events during their stay.

The view from the apartment of the most beautiful canal is already awesome. But to be in the nine-streets area of the city means the coolest shops and restaurants are a literal stones-throw away.

From this location no sight is more than 15 minutes away by foot. There is access to more than a dozen tram-lines and bus-lines within 3 minutes walking and Rokin Metro is no more than a 4 minute walk.

During a complete renovation the oak beams were revealed and coupled with a new massive oak floor, the apartment has a luxurious roomy feel that give a welcoming and relaxing impression. But the absolute eye catcher is the open kitchen: a renovated Dutch design classics from the 50´s (American Kitchen). Completed with modern equipment such as a design large cooker and a Bosch 50´s look (new) refrigerator. If you like to cook, this is your kitchen! It’s a quiet area of the centre. Location and luxury are what we think of when we see this gorgeous houseboat, located on the famous Prinsengracht, near to the Anne Frank house. It's a stylish and comfortable floating residence in the center of the Jordaan area. Decorated with taste and attention by a professional interior designer. The Prince Royal is the place to be for an unique nautical experience in downtown Amsterdam. You have a direct view on the Prinsengracht and the landmark Westerchurch. The living area is bright and shining, spacious, comfortable and light. The characteristic wooden floor in combination with design furniture gives this area a luxury own identity. There are 2 characteristic bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms in the back and front of the ship. The bedrooms are a little lower but that is part of the history and charm of this houseboat. Both the bedrooms have two big double beds with two separate mattresses next to each other (160cm and 180 cm X 200cm), both with a flat screen TV. Romantic and comfortable! The owner, who resides on the boat, values to her privacy and makes sure that your privacy is fully experienced.

Both bathrooms have a towel radiator and under the floor heating. The bright and shining bathrooms offers both a modern sink and shower. Bedlinen and towels are provided.

The outside deck

At the outside point of this former freight ship is a nice terrace with a unique view along the canal. You will find a lovely large terrace, with chairs, cushions and plants. Because it’s wintertime we are not able to make pictures yet, we have to wait until spring. White swans will pass by together with the canal boats. At the other side of the canal you see the Anne Frank house and the famous Westerchurch. A video has been made from the surroundings last year: You are in the middle of historic Amsterdam but because of the water and the impressive historic canal houses around you the atmosphere is relaxed and peaceful.

The wheelhouse however offers you the best and most exclusive possibility to enjoy the spectacular surrounding of this houseboat. The wheelhouse is reachable from the inside and is higher than the rest of the boat. In this former Captain’s area is a luxury place to sit and enjoy for instance a glass of the free wine from the bar with wine fridge!

So you and friends will be secured to reach it all in walkin or bike distance, and ofcourse you have the luxury to walk 5 min to central and take a tram, metro or ferry might take a train to visit the rest of The Netherlands in no time that's up to you!

The B&B is a bedroom with a 200x160 queensize bed and a bathroom on an old ship. And there is a water cooker to make coffee or tea. It's very suitable for a couple.
The ship is over a hundred years old and has been recently renovated.
The Morgen Ster is an iron ship, seven minutes walk from the Central Station. Although it's in the heart of the centre, the location has the feel of the country side. A large part of the city is easy to reach on foot. Within ten minutes one can walk to the Central Station, The Dam Square, The Waterloo Square, The Portugese synagoge, the red light district, the Nieuwmarkt, The Rembrandt house.

The front door has a lock with a code. Check in time is 3 pm or later, check out time is 11 am.

Although it's called a Bed and Breakfast, no breakfast is being served. All in all it's quite small, but very cute and comfortable.

Please be aware that the neighbours walk over the roof of the B&B on the way to their homes. It's part of living on a ship in the centre of Amsterdam.

Elderly guests must be aware that you can't walk around the bed. Also you have to step up the ship and there is a small stairway you have to descent.

The cosy room with African decorations is situated in the downstairs guest apartment of a townhouse build in 1712, located in the heart of the old city centre 'De Jordaan'.
The bedroom, situated in the basement, has a comfortable queen size bed and is surrounded by African beads. The small bathroom (shower and sink) is situated ensuite, the private toilet is located outside the room a few steps higher on the split level next to the kitchen.

The spacious living/dining/business area is the perfect place for our guests to sit down and relax, drink a fresh coffee, watch television, grab a book from the big library cupboard or make use of the fast speed WIFI to get some work done.

Please note that you'll be sharing the same entrance with the home owners, who live in the fully equipped top apartment.

In the area there are three parks: Vondelpark, Sloterpark and Rembrantpark, which are great for recreational activities.

The place is located close to the RAI Exhibition and Congress Centre, only 3 stops by metro. The area is close to the Museum Quarter and the party area (Leidseplein).

Welcome to Amsterdam! Our comfortable, light and peaceful Waterfront Studio in IJburg makes you feel at home. IJburg is the modern island district of Amsterdam. Do you love architecture, wind and water, sports and nature? This is your place! The studio is located on the ground floor in our recently built house. The view over the water and the sunsets are amazing! You can even swim, or sup in front of the house! Tram 26 takes you in 25 minutes to the pulsating heart of the city (30 min. by bike).

The space
In the studio, you will find a luxurious, new double bed (box spring), a private bathroom with rain shower and toilet, flat screen TV and free Wi-Fi. There is a comfortable fauteuil where you can read your favorite lecture and a sitting area to work, eat, drink, laugh and enjoy the fantastic view over the water. The well-equipped kitchenette has a refrigerator, oven/microwave and sink. Enjoy Nespresso coffee and tea and make your breakfast complete with freshly toasted bread.
Please be aware that is not possible to cook in the studio. However, you can warm up food.

In the summer months, you can book optionally an exclusive boat tour to discover IJburg from the water.

This quiet room for one offers a nice place to stay in Amsterdam-Oost. On your floor is also a two persons room available. Guests share the shower, bathroom and kitchenette as well as the sitting area with eachother. The room advertised here is for one.

If you fly into Europe, i'd love it if you'd compensate for your CO2-emisssion. When you let me know you did i will give you a little discount. I dont support flying within Europe. Do consider the train or bus instead. Change starts now.

The space
Hi! I have two rooms to offer at the moment for BnB customers who want to enjoy Amsterdam from their own little den in Amsterdam-Oost. Here you can make a reservation for the single room that sleeps one person. For the double room, please check the other listing under Casa Vrolik Amsterdam 2pp. Please feel free to inquire for the two rooms at the same time if not booked yet.

The house I live in with cat Anna Brobbey is a non-smoking home. You will have your own bedroom, a key to the house, kitchenette with oven, Clooney-machine (Nespresso that is), fridge and hot water boiler. With the occupants of the other room you share the kitchenette in the hallway, a bathroom with shower and little sink, a separate toilet and a little dining/sitting room on the same floor.

The Casa Vrolik house is an old house in a friendly neighborhood, near Oosterpark. The house sits near Muiderpoort and Amstel Station. Tram, train and the metro take you to and from Central Station to my place with a 5 to 10 minutes walk to the stops. The house was renovated back in 2011 and i love to share my little palace.

Upstairs are my rooms and I'd be happy to share my thoughts on questions you might have.

I will provide ingredients for a basic breakfast for the first morning that you can make yourself at your own chosen time: bread for baking in the oven, eggs, cheese, juice and milk, coffee and tea. You share a fridge with the other room on your floor. The Bed&Breakfast Casa Vrolik is on the second floor, and our stairs are Amsterdam Steep ;)

The room has a single auping bed with a good mattress by Ikea, and sleeps one person. Be welcome!

Whenever the 2pp room is also booked you'll share your floor with the other guests.

The house is a non-smoking house. We have dear cat Anna Brobbey, born in 2023, as our companion.

The bedlinnen is mainly by Coco-Mat. The towels are from Yumeko. Both brands are eco friendly produced.

I myself are organic food oriented and wish the same for you. The best organic shop of the neighbourhood is at the end of our block, so thats a huge plus!

The two stairs are pretty steep. We walk them everyday..

Comes with a shower, toilet, kitchenette and sitting/working/dining area on the same floor. Ofcourse there will be towels. And our own handmade shampoobar and body soaps made of organic oils. There might also be some to-be-shared left for other guests bottles of liquid soap ;)

Whenever the 2pp room is also booked you'll share your floor with the other guest.

I live upstairs myself and we share the open stairs within the apartment through the hall and dining area. Feel free to ask me about the city, your doubts or ideas!

During your stay
You will have your room on your own floor in my house, and we will run into eachother once in a while. I will be there to introduce the house and hand over your own set of keys, or i will ask my friends to do that when i'm at work. I can also organise a key pick-up nearby or agree to leave the keys in the key locker near the doorbells and give you the instruction. We share the in-house stairs and the layout is as follows: 5 floor house, our stairs start at the second. the BnbFloor is the first floor of our appartment, floor 3. My rooms are one up and two stairs up (my livingroom and kitchen).

Other things to note
Amsterdam has a very rigid system for bringing cars, so dont. :) There are good parkings though, but they cost a lot per day. There are P+R terrains a little bit outside the city. Trains are your friends here. Flixbus and all too, but they do drop you off at the other side of the city and at weird hours :)
I am strongly advising you to not fly when its not across an ocean, and for a longer period of time (or enormous important/death/love) and always look for options to pay money towards a great cause fighting global warming to reimburse every time you sit in a plane going up. Advised amount €50 per person at least when you do fly. I myself endorse Justdiggit. Dont forget to mention to me what company or project you recommend. I will give a discount for compensation or taking the train instead. I do not take guest that fly within Europe unless mentioned death love enormeous important cases, ofcourse.

The space
A large carriage is luxurious designed as a hotel room and located on a farm just outside Amsterdam. A unique way to become familiar with the life on a farm. A fresh farmer’s breakfast in the morning during the day you experience living on a farm and you can help the farmer with his work. Full corona proof with a private bathroom.

B&B Biest-stro can offer you this arrangement in a very surpising environment. The room is located in a large wagon on a nearby farm (see the picture).

The farmer and his son are milking a herd of 600 sheep twice a day and they are making cheese and yoghurt of het sheepsmilk. They appriciate it when you can help them milking or feeding the animals and they are very wiling to tell you about the life and work on the farm. Especially for children the stay will be an unforgettable experience.

The room has two double beds. In the wagen is a kitchen, a fridge, coffee and tea machines, heating and it has electricity. It is competely ready for use, with towels and bedding included. The size of the wagon is 9mx2,5m. Outside you can sit on the terras on the garden chairs and tables.

The bathroom is outside the wagon at the farmhouse.

We are in the process of making a private verander so you can have breakfast outside in the morning or look at the Moon & Stars in the evenings.

You've got your own entrance via the patio doors at the back of the house, in the garden area.
You can park your car on our private drive of the main house. Free & safe parking guaranteed.
If we are not at home, this is not a problem, it is easy and possible to do a self check-in using a code that we will send to you a day or two before your arrival.
The studio is connected to the main house, but completely private.
The studio does not have airco, however in Holland this is not really necessary. We do have a ventilation fan if needed. This is permanently in studio.

Other things to note
The studio is 20' from the beach Wijk aan Zee. If you like going for long walks the beaches are just what you are looking for of even go for a dip in the sea if you like. This none too touristy beach resort has a lot to offer. Bars, restaurants, free easy parking and certainly no long waiting queues to find a parking spot or a nice place on the beach.
The Keukenhof is a 30' drive away from the studio. From the 21 March until 12 May is open. Opening times are daily 8:00 - 19:30. Make sure you book your tickets online to save waiting in the queues.
Zaandam is 15' drive, but easily doable by going by bike (free rental in the price)
A lively vibrant town with lots to do. You can admire the Zaans buildings or a shop-till-you drop spree. Zaandam has it all.
If you feel like staying a home, well you can also use the BBQ.
