There is no better way to make your Montana vacation complete than by lodging in and enjoying a secluded, authentic hand made log cabin.
This cabin has been a 44 year labor of love by a carpenter who designed it, cut and stripped over 180 lodgepole pine trees, and set in excess of 390 separate logs to create this beautiful unique log structure, unlike any others that you may have seen before. From the hand built cabinetry, the masonry work, the hardwood and quarry tile floors, the handrailings, to the one-of-a-kind log spiral staircase, the craftsmanship is apparent and admirable.
The cabin has been decorated and tastefully outfitted with carefully selected authentic antique furniture and real hand-knotted Persian rugs to create a truly "turn of the century" ambiance, but still has a modern kitchen and bathroom for your comfort.
The kitchen offers a whole array of authentic Griswold frying pans and skillets, and the kitchen "gadgets" have been gleaned from antique stores all across the west; most were in use from the 1920's to the 1950's. No plastic utensils allowed!
The Hermitage is situated on the edge a Ponderosa pine forest, full of deer and wild turkeys and other assorted animals; it is honestly a joy to hike through the forest and explore.
The Hermitage is licensed and inspected by the state to insure your safety and comfort. In this time of Covid-19, the cleaning crew has concentrated on disinfecting the hard surfaces, and we provide a hand sanitizer for your use, as well.
Privacy and seclusion is assured, as no other structure can be seen from The Hermitage as it is at the end of a new, all weather 300 yard private driveway.
Picture yourself sitting on the back balcony with a drink in hand, reflecting on your long day of either exploring, fishing or floating one of the several nearby blue-ribbon rivers, grilling steaks (or your fresh catch) as the sun goes down and observe the deer head back into the woods and watch the wild turkeys roost in nearby trees. Just before dusk the nighthawks swoop down for your amusement. After dinner on the back deck the stars glow brightly in the crystal clear air and the constellations dance across the sky.
This is the way to really relax and experience a memorable evening, Montana Style.

- "Enjoyed staying in the hand crafted cabin filled with character and artifacts bursting with history." - "Had a wonderful stay! Enjoyed all of the amenities and fun artifacts. Highly recommend!" - "This beautiful cabin has a great story with lots of fun details inside, even though we spent most of our time outside exploring and enjoying the wildlife. We were lucky enough to make contact with someone from the property who let us know that the nearby town was having their annual “Absarokee Days” with a parade and vendor fair and street dance… so much fun!! Thanks for opening up your home to us and allowing us to experience a tiny piece of Montana:)"

This rustic 2 bedroom cabin rests serenely on the Stillwater River, a Blue Ribbon trout stream that sits in the foothills of the Beartooth Mountains. A fly fisherman’s dream, your stay includes access to the 2 house fly rods, two pairs of men’s waders and wading boots and one pair for a child aged 8-12, as well as a fully equipped fly tying table with a vice, magnifying glass light and all the line, hooks, beads and material any angler might need. After a day outside, fix your favorite cocktail and relax at the bar inside over a game of chess or backgammon while you catch the sunset from one of the house’s three waterfront porches.
With two queen beds and 6 twins located in the loft, the cabin also makes a cozy getaway for a couple of families with children. Note: one of the Queen bedrooms opens to the loft, the other is private on the first floor. River views from nearly every spot in the house bring the outdoors in, whether you’re preparing a meal, playing darts, or staying in bed reading your favorite book. The guitar on the wall is begging to be played by the firepit and a smart tv is provided in the living room where you can connect your devices via Bluetooth. Wifi to be installed soon, and with it the ability to connect to your personal streaming apps on screen.
Only 40 minutes from the quaint ski town of Red Lodge (no lift lines!), 35 minutes to Billings, an hour and 30 minutes from Bozeman and roughly 2 to Yellowstone National Park via Cooke City.

- "The cabin is on a quiet street and is close to businesses. It was clean and well stocked with supplies. It is cute and quaint. Kate checked in frequently to ensure all was well. We enjoyed our stay!" - "Absolutely adorable cabin home nestled up a private road amongst other beautiful homes. We arrived at 4ish on a hot hot July day and checkin was super simple. Fans in rooms and mobile AC unit in main living area helped cool the place down as it could. We traveled with my daughter who is attending MSUB and stayed here with husband and her brother for orientation. Rooms, bathroom and living areas were decorated as you would hope a cabin in heart of Montana would look. Beds were comfy and utilities up to pair. We did not cook or do any laundry but appliances looked very new. We enjoyed our short stay and would highly recommend. Thank you so much again. "
