Our cabin is located at one of the highest points in the county and overlooks the Guadalupe river valley and the lights of Comfort approx. 10 miles away. Our Eco-friendly home is a historical designed 'Dog Run'. Fashioned after my families original homestead built in 1856. This low impact structure features a rain harvesting system, recycled bottled glass for insulation, locally sourced building materials, gray water recycling system and a grid tie wind/solar power system that generates over a kilowatt of power. We went into town for dinner the next night, but really enjoyed the cozy fire when we got home. Note we have spiders, scorpions, snakes, wild hogsand mountain lions. So watch your pets and step. Your in the country.
Keep doors closed including bathroom. If it’s hot make sure AC is on. It’s a snow flake on control. Only use ceiling fan in bedroom if it’s cold to pull down heat. If it’s cold outside make sure control is set to Sun. We also have a wood stove and extra blankets. If bugs get in use bug net over bed.

The space
Clean, Hilltop home in the middle of lots of acres to explore! The view from the home is awesome-see photos! You will just want to sit on the front porch or inside the large windows and enjoy the view.
Our home is best for 2 to 4 guests. Two bedrooms (2 Queen beds) and one bathroom. Dining table for 6 and full size kitchen appliances with utensils, pots and pans, coffee, dishwasher and more. You bring the food or buy at Comfort/ Fredericksburg grocery stores. Gas propane grill and outdoor dining table. We call it "Grilling with a view!!
Plenty of outdoor seating area to enjoy that glass of wine or dining, while watching the sky change colors.

Guest access
Our land is fenced and you may explore many acres of flat and steep terrain. Better to walk it-not allowed to drive vehicles on it. Please use a walking stick as you hike the flat and steep acreage. Sticks are around the front tree. You can sit on the carport/pavilion or the front porch and enjoy the many birds and wildlife and maybe a fox or two will show up. We know the deer will be there!
Ranch gate to home is flat gravel road accessible by regular car. Easy, short, flat, gravel road.

Other things to note
Land around the home is flat, but not paved. Please use care when hiking areas other than the gravel roads. Please use a walking stick on our steep hills. Watch children please! You can hike on the Joshua Park and Preserve in Comfort, with lake for kayaking or fishing. James Khiel River Park-swim in river, fish or hike around under the huge, old Cypress trees. River is seasonal and may be shallow if we did not get rain.
We have an electric fireplace with a nice flame. Please no fires outside.
Nearby to Comfort, Fredericksburg, Luckenbach, Sisterdale, Camp Verde, Boerne, Kerrville and Center Point. Day Trips: Comfort-historic, shops, James Khiel River Park. Camp Verde- Centerpoint, Bandera (Cowboy Capital of the World). Fredericksburg has many restaurants, shopping, German food, and Enchanted Rock Natural Area.

National Park- Lyndon B Johnson National Park-Stonewall, TX, former White House of the West. See the state herd of Bison and Longhorns.
