- "Bandon is an absolute gem of the Oregon coast, and Heather’s cabin is amazing!! She was helpful, responsive and attentive. The property is spacious and beautiful, and the home is cozy and very well provisioned. The wood burning stove made it home for us. We’ll definitely be back. " - "This place brought back memories of my grandpa’s cabin and was wonderful. The place is more charming than modern and we really enjoyed that. Lots of fun toys and some fun games. One room has a curtain instead of a door which was no issue but just so you know. There’s a rental house right next to this place making it confusing who the large yard belongs to. The renters also have a dog so we felt more hesitant to let our dog off leash. I think they are planning on a fence to help with this issue. I could have reached out for more clarification but didn’t feel the need for my purposes. Also- the trail is very short. However, just down the dirt road there’s another trailhead if you feel the need for a longer walk/ dog walk. I enjoyed the place and it’s pretty close to Bandon and not far by car to the beach. Would stay here again. "

Everything was locatable (where would I put a spatula?). Food stores are 2 mins away. Windows show the ocean's whitecaps. The only drawback? One time we did have to wait at a light.... :) FANTASTIC STAY. WONDERFUL BARGAIN IN BANDON."

Ideal for a quiet couples getaway or a solo artist / writer’s / birdwatcher's retreat, this unique, one-bedroom beach cottage was custom built by hand in the 1950's with wood that washed up on nearby Black Rock Beach. The rustic, cedar shake cottage and flower garden are located directly on an estuary and Redmon Pond—and nestled two blocks from the beach on the South Jetty of the Coquille River, in Bandon, Oregon.
The Space:
The cedar-walled main bedroom sleeps two on a queen-sized Nectar memory foam mattress—and has a cozy window nook with a view of migrating birds on Redmon Pond. Imported stained glass windows and recently refinished Douglas Fir floors accent the beautiful cedar walls and open-beamed ceilings throughout. Custom beach-rock entry and hearth with cozy Jötul wood burning stove will keep you warm. Equipped for light cooking, the kitchen has a small electric range/oven, small dishwasher, full-size fridge and a toaster. There is a 32” HDTV with Apple TV (netflix, hulu, hbo) available for your use in the den. There is a walk-in shower with wood walls and slate floor in the bathroom. Once home to a local ceramics artist in the 70’s and 80’s (her studio is out back) the cottage pays tribute to her with an eclectic collection of ceramics and fine art I’ve been scrounging from galleries, thrift & antique stores for the last 25 years.
The 650 sq ft cottage was hand-built in the 1950’s by a master carpenter with driftwood and salvaged lumber that washed ashore on nearby Black Rock Beach. There are four other houses nearby that he built as well. See if you can spot them! Fall asleep in a piece of Bandon’s unique hand-crafted artisan history—along with the peaceful sounds of Redmon Pond frogs, beach waves crashing—or the soothing South Jetty foghorn in the distance. The stars are insane here.
Getting Around:
Black Rock Beach is a two-block walk, the town of Bandon is a ten minute walk with it's famous Old Town and restaurants, crab shacks, bars and shops! You can crab from the pier in town and rent crabbing supplies at the Bait Shop. They’ll even cook and clean your crabs at Tony’s Crab Shack - in the harbor.
Other Details to Note:
The house is very small. Please watch your head.
The cozy kitchen is equipped for light cooking. As there is no ventilation in the kitchen, we ask guests to please keep cooking simple (no stinky fish, keep lids on boiling pots, etc).
The cottage is adjacent to a wildlife refuge/estuary and pond. There are three resident geese that walk through the property, which can be enchanting, but there are other more opportunistic critters that reside along side them that are less enchanting. Please be aware this is “the country” and as magical as this place may seem, nature is present and often seeks shelter from the elements. We do our best to keep things at bay while existing in tandem with nature while we are living here. Your understanding of the environment and flexibility around it’s unforeseen possibilities are appreciated.
- "We loved this cottage for so many reasons. It's cute as a button inside and out and the landscaping is lovely. It's located about 1/4 mile from the beach and yet it's close to area restaurants too. The kitchen is well stocked with all types of utensils with everything one needs for cooking. And there's tons of condiments in the refrigerator and herbs and spices as well. The cottage is 70 years old and 80% of the walls are wood paneling. And the vaulted ceiling makes it feel much larger than it is. It's perfect for two! There's also lots of artwork and interesting tchotchkes throughout the cottage that gave the place the charm of an artist's residence. We'll be back for sure!!!"

Situated on 5 coastal forest acres and decorated with colorful folk art and hand dyed textiles, the Cottage above Fern Creek is an idyllic getaway close to all that Bandon offers.
The cottage offers amenities modeled after boutique hotels as well as a kitchenette.
Step out from a soak in the tub onto the heated tile floor and wrap yourself in a spa robe before sinking into the comfort of the premium latex queen mattress.
4 miles from town yet it feels a world away.
Sleeps 2. No pets, please.
The bedroom area has a queen bed with natural latex mattress. Bed is European style, with fluffy down duvet and latex pillows dressed in comfortably rumpled natural cotton sheeting.
Full bathroom with tub/shower combo and heated floors. We provide eco- and body-friendly hand soap, shampoo and body wash. Cotton robes and bath salts provided.
Enjoy a meal outdoors on your private patio. Pick huckleberries, blueberries and blackberries in season. Dark skies are great for stargazing.
Kitchenette has refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, hot plate, sink and dishwasher. It is stocked with tools to prepare simple meals (think fried eggs and toast, spaghetti with sauce from a jar, reheated leftovers, etc). There is no stove or oven. Coffee maker, electric kettle, coffee and tea are included. Eggs from our flock are available spring through fall. We are eco-conscious and provide fabric dish towels, dish rags and Swedish dishcloths in lieu of single use paper towels. Our water is UV-purified spring water. Yes, you can drink it!
The cottage is all yours. It is separated from the other two buildings on our 5-acre property, with its own parking space.
It is adjacent to our rental cabin, but the windows in each building are oriented to provide privacy as well as a view of the forest.
It is next door to our home, separated by a side yard, large trees and driveway. We are available if you need us but will give you complete privacy otherwise.
Wifi at the cottage is through Starlink and averages 10 - 15 mbps. It’s good for streaming videos and internet browsing, and I successfully work from home doing tech support on this system, but don’t expect fiber speeds in our rural location. Occasional brief outages may occur, but rarely last longer than a minute or two.
ATT, Verizon and T-Mobile cell service are 4G LTE here.
