- "clean, quiet, close to beach, & dog friendly." - "Perfect little cabin in the woods with excellent beach access." - "The cottage is just steps from the beach and a short drive to town. It’s the perfect size for two people. It’s close to lots of beautiful sights and tidepools. Hope to be lucky enough to stay here again someday!" - "We enjoyed our stay very much, EXCEPT, most of why we chose the cottage in the woods was because of the ocean view the advertisement showed. THERE WAS NO VIEW OF THE OCEAN!!! There were 2 houses that obstructed any view there might have been! Your advertising needs to be changed to NOT show a view of the ocean. As it is now, it's false advertising. The bed is too large for the size of the bedroom. Other than those two complaints, we loved the cottage. All of the amenities were fantastic!"

- "Overall, the property was what we expected. Perfect for two people, right on the trail to the beach. So that was convenient. Staff was available when we had questions. New washer and dryer!" - "This property was perfect for the 2 of us and our 2 pugs. Spacious living/kitchen area and very large bathroom. Home was quite clean overall. As mentioned, there are a couple of minor maintenance needs (front 2 steps up to main deck), dryer requires use of a pair of pliers to start, toaster was not operational. That said, there isn't a day that goes by at my own primary residence that I need to repair something, so not a big issue. Very quiet neighborhood, close to the 804 trail, safe areas to walk dogs, very decent view of the ocean. Will be staying here again."

- "Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: As always, we loved staying at Serendipity, a place that we refer to as our home away from home. This is the first time, in the many years and visits that we've been coming, that I am leaving comments that are less than stellar. The issue is cleanliness. We are paying more than we ever have for the cleaning service, but found ourselves doing a lot more cleaning, and that we from the moment we arrived. The kitchen reeked of bacon grease and we had to take to cleaning every surface, particularly in and around the stove and microwave, to get rid of the smell. Also, the bathroom with the off the kitchen had a urine-like smell that we could not get rid despite multiple interventions. There was orangey face foundation on both pillow shams in the room with two twin beds that we had to spot clean and wash (got it out!).Then there were small things like coffee grounds still in the coffee maker. Also, for four people staying for six days, there was very little toilet paper available. We're fine about brining our own, but because we never had to before, we were caught unprepared.None of this will discourage us from staying again. We understand the employment challenges there on the coast (and everywhere), but when we're paying more for a clean home, we don't expect to work so much ourselves for the standard that we've always had there. Best, Jay & Sharon"

We appreciated the washer and dryer, as well as all the household additions that made the stay comfortable. Set a bit farther off the highway, the nights were quiet. The beach may not be the most scenic in the area, yet the location is close to at least a dozen of some of the most beautiful beaches Oregon has to offer. Our children enjoyed collecting seashells during low tide from the rock formations, and we enjoyed the solitude of the beach overall. Our location was perfectly convenient for visiting Yachats, Heceta head lighthouse, the sea lion caves and some of the state parks. Overall, we enjoyed the quietude and peace this little rental provided. We would definitely stay again."

Beach-front bonfires, cozy but comfortable units, wildlife viewing, stairs to the beach, good surfing, rooms for the dogs and kids to run and much much more! Searose Beach only has a handful of homes on it and the beach has limited public access near the Beachcomber. Often times the beach will be all yours. This stretch of coast is one of the most beautiful on the entire West Coast and we are located just a couple miles from charming Yachats, as well as close to the Sea lion Caves, Devils Churn, Yaquina Head, and many many other tourist sites. Dozens of hikes are nearby and great mountain biking roads as well as wild mushroom hunting spots abound.
- "The rental had a wonderful deck to view the ocean from afar and was easy to walk to. We needed bed linens for our 3rd person and they were accessible when we contacted the manager." - "Loved this location, steps away from the surf. We watched some awesome high surf from our patio. Super pet friendly. Great location."

- "Complete & total peaceful rejuvenation without schedules or agenda. Best possible respite from occupational overload. Walked nearly deserted beach collecting agates & new memories. Unbelievable hiking nearby & fantastic restaurants both North & South of property. Isolation elation!" - "It’s a nice studio apartment with easy access to the beach which at low tide is quite nice. However my check in was frustrating as it took me an hour and a half to get in. I could not get anyone on the phone. Curiously this property group requires you to check in after five but no one answers their phone after 5. You only get answering machines. Since there’s very spotty cell service I had to drive around to get service. I made four or five phone calls to try to get into the place. Finally I was a given a special code. This lock was not fixed during my stay. Also the instructions for locking the door indicated that you just had to turn the knob but you actually have to hit a button after you turn the knob. So I left my door open during the day. Later I requested a bathmat and a corkscrew. I never heard back even after four days. The property manager did show up that first night and offered me a small refund due to the inconveniences, but I have yet to see that refund."

- "This little cottage was perfect for my family of three. There was space for all of us and the newly updated furnishings were comfortable and clean. Beat of all, it was tucked away on a quiet coastal street with views of the ocean. My favorite aspect was sleeping and waking to the sound of the waves."

Sit on the back porch and hear the creek and the ocean waves at the same time. A woodsy trail behind the house takes you across a bridge over a small creek, and it's a short tenth of a mile walk to the 804 bluff trail. A reading nook with a pee-a-boo view of the ocean is in the upstairs bedroom. Gas fireplace in the living room. Art galleries are across the street. It's a 5 minute drive to town. Known as "Gem of the Oregon Coast", Yachats is a small town on the central Oregon coast. It is just north of Cape Perpetua and has great places to eat, walk, and hike.
Due to CC&Rs, any stay must be a minimum of 30 nights. Sorry, no shorter stays.

We warmly invite you to stay at our cozy seaside cottage in one of the most ideal locations along the Yachats oceanfront – just steps away from the northern end of the spectacular 804 Trail where it meets a seven mile stretch of sandy beach.
Enjoy the tranquil view of the Pacific Ocean from the comfort of the living room or while relaxing on the oceanside deck, with prevailing ocean winds mitigated by a sheltering grove of spruce trees.
The space
Small yet comfortable one-bedroom cottage with surprisingly spacious kitchen, living room, second living space for sleeping or contemplation, very compact but efficient shower-only bathroom with overhead 'rain shower head.' Please note that the shower stall is fairly small and may feel tight for some guests. The home also features a fenced-in backyard with decks, one covered, on three sides of the cottage.
Skylights and ocean-view windows provide ample daylight and are outfitted with privacy drapes and top-down/bottom-up translucent blinds that give you the option to block out everything but the sea, trees and sky. You can also gaze at the stars through the overhead skylight while relaxing in the living room.
We’ve done our best to make our cottage interior cozy and functional, yet uncluttered, with several options for warmth and comfort; including a propane wood-style stove, electric wall heaters in the living room and bathroom, an auxiliary electric oil-filled radiator space heater for the master bedroom, plus lots of throws and blankets.
In addition to the queen bed in the master bedroom, there is a full-size sleeper sofa in the living room and, in the second room, a daybed with trundle (pulls out for 2 twin beds!) that doubles as a comfortable reading nook with a serene view of the ocean.
The compact cottage and its special location are perfect for a couple’s getaway, a small family’s visit to the coast, or a few close friends on a weekend trip.
Guest access
Yachats is called the 'Gem of the Oregon Coast' for a reason! This sweet and welcoming town is situated along a spectacular stretch of the Pacific Ocean and offers a widely diverse range of attractions for its small size.
Bordered to the east by the Siuslaw National Forest, Yachats is near the jagged, rocky flanks of the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area, the highest point accessible by car on the Oregon coast, just 2 miles south of the Yachats River. Here you can hike the network of old-growth forest trails, watch migrating whales from the visitor center, admire the ocean’s power as manifested by crashing surf and exploding water spouts at high tide, or explore rich and varied tide pool life at low tide – well worth the trip year-round!
The town itself is a fun, laid-back place that attracts artists, free spirits, and civically-minded folk, with a variety of discoveries to be made among the local eateries, shops, walking paths, and community spaces as you mingle with friendly locals and delighted visitors. Yachatians put a lot of care into making their community a vibrant, inclusive, and unique place, and it is evident everywhere. Exploring nearby towns, parks, mountains, forests, shorelines, beaches, lighthouses and dunes along the coast will further enhance your visit.
We provide recommendations in our guest binder in case you need any suggestions for things to do or see. We warmly welcome LGBTQ+ and all to share this truly special place to explore, relax and re-energize. We love it here and know you will too!
Other things to note
Amenities:
We provide you with all the essentials, such as bed linens, bath towels, toilet paper, paper towels, soap, shampoo & conditioner, etc. – even beach towels that you’re welcome to use on the beach! We also provide coffee (plus a few brewing options) and tea.
Please note - there is NO dishwasher or washer / dryer in the cottage, unfortunately! Dishes are handwash only. We do provide drying racks for this purpose.
Entertainment:
There is strong Wi-Fi, an Amazon Alexa virtual assistant, plenty of games & puzzles, a Samsung “Smart” 4K TV that will enable you to connect to most popular streaming services, such as Netflix, Hulu, or Prime Video (using your personal log-in), and a Sony 4K Blu-Ray/DVD player for which we have provided a selection of our personal DVD movies for your enjoyment. You can also rent DVD movies at the eclectic Ya-Hots Video Country Store located in the heart of town.
The Kitchen:
The efficient kitchen is well equipped with a propane gas stove/oven/broiler, microwave oven, refrigerator/freezer, toaster, slow cooker, electric tea kettle, French press coffee maker, coffee bean grinder, blender, and electric milk frother/foamer/warmer. You are amply supplied with pots, pans, knives, utensils, mugs, glasses, bowls, dishes and silverware you will need for most of your meals. Coffee, a variety of teas, and salt & pepper are also provided as standard for your enjoyment.
Relationship with the Environment:
It is important to note that we are on a septic system, as is the entire area just outside of the City of Yachats proper, and appreciate our guests to be conscious of that. In respect for our natural environment, we use NO harsh chemicals such as drain cleaners or bleach, and we ask that our guests do the same. PLEASE FLUSH NOTHING but toilet paper along with the obvious. PLEASE DO NOT FLUSH sanitary napkins/tampons but rather dispose of them, along with any foreign objects, in the trash.
Food waste can be particularly harmful to the friendly bacteria in a septic system. An easily removed filter strainer has been placed in the kitchen sink to prevent food, coffee grounds, etc. from going down the drain - PLEASE keep it there! In addition, you will find a clearly marked container under the sink for safe disposal of grease and oils. NOTHING is to go down the kitchen drain except water!
Be conscientious with your water use - feel free to use what you need but be mindful to shut off any faucets when not in use and avoid excessively long showers. There is an on/off button above the shower head to control water flow while lathering, etc. The on-demand hot water heater will also facilitate your water conservation.
This is a smoke-free environment. ABSOLUTELY NO SMOKING OF ANYTHING INSIDE THE COTTAGE!
Pets:
DOGS are welcome (sorry, no cats - but I’m sure they’d rather stay home anyway), so please tell me a little about your dog (age/size/breed) to get pre-approval. TWO DOG LIMIT.
However, PLEASE be very careful to not let your dog(s) dig in our fenced-in backyard, keeping an especially close eye on known diggers! Digging within the drain field could cause serious damage to the septic system. The nearby beach however offers endless opportunities for irrepressible diggers!
The only other thing we ask is that you be mindful of the impact of your dog on the interior of the cottage, particularly if your dog is a heavy shedder or tracks sand and dirt inside. We provide 'dog' towels to wipe down your dog after a romp at the beach or in the yard, as well as 'dog' sheets to cover the furniture or the bed to keep them as clean as possible during your stay. Thank you for being considerate!
Parking:
There is ample available parking with two (potentially even three) front-to-back spaces in the driveway and two street spaces in front of the cottage.
Accessibility:
This cottage is not ADA accessible. There are 3 short steps up to the deck leading to the front door, and 3 to 4 steps off the back decks, depending on which way you go. There are no steps inside the cottage itself. The shower is very compact and stand-up only, with no railing or tub. Access to the beach requires going down a flight of wooden steps, when they are seasonally in place.
State/County Rules &Taxes:
Please note that Lincoln County rental rules (such as quiet hours and parking) must be followed. These rules will be posted inside the house as well as within the Airbnb information binder.
Lincoln County requires a short-term rental tax of 12% that we pay ourselves on your behalf so you will not receive any additional charges for this county tax. However, you will see a separate 1.5% Oregon state lodging tax charge that is collected automatically by Airbnb.

Unit # 5 is attached to one other cottage so it may be possible to hear other guests. This unit has a limited ocean view as it is located behind another unit, *see cover photo* however you will still be just steps away from the beach.
This quaint cottage has one bedroom with a queen bed, a living room, kitchen, and one *small bathroom* with a shower. The unit is well-kept & equipped, however it is simple and wind-swept. Please keep in mind that if you are looking for a luxurious getaway, this may not be the right choice for your stay.
There is a ladder to access the beach *see photos* that we ask guests to use at their own risk and discretion. The ladder is not perfect, but is a permanent solution, as the levels of the sand/tides change depending on the time of day or season. Unfortunately, a longer ladder or steps are not feasible as they have been ripped away by the tide in the past.
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT CELL RECEPTION:
- Please be aware that cellphone reception can be very weak to nonexistent on the coast. Please plan accordingly. We do have wifi across the entire property, so calls and texts over wifi-based apps are possible.
- We are located next door to a nice RV Park. The park is visible from our property. While this does not seem to be a problem for most guests, we understand that it might be for others. Please be aware of this before booking.

My cottage is part of a small community called Quiet Water, along the Yachats River. Launch our canoe and paddle to the bay and the ocean. Take a picnic, spend the day on the sand, and paddle home. Kids love to build sandcastles and wade in the river and the ocean.
There is a great Aquarium in Newport, 25 miles to the north. You can go whale watching or fishing in the sea from the bay front there. Cape Perpetua is 5 miles to the south, the tallest headland on the Oregon coast, great for whale watching and sunsets. Beautiful state parks with access to the beaches to hunt for agates, explore tide pools, or just take in the ocean air and walk for miles.
Ride a dune buggy on the sand dunes in Florence, 25 miles to the south.

Some more information.
I have recently installed a heat pump unit to provide heat and air conditioning.
To provide heat, you use the white remote. The heat icon ( looks like a sun) must be on. The fan icon ranges from 1 to 4 bars. Then you increase the numbers until you're comfortable., usually about 70 to 72 This does not correlate to the temperature, just your comfort level.
When you leave, turn the heat down to 61. Thank you
There is also a new stove! , and a new dryer.
Other things to note
The pool and spa are only open from mid June to Labor Day. Unfortunately this year, 2021, due to covid regulations and requirements, the Quiet Water community pool is not able to open. I'm very sorry
Phone
Most cellphones don't work in the cottage, but do in town, few minutes away. AT&T phones do work here.
