One bedroom cedar cottage, nestled into private, tranquil cottage gardens with a veranda, separate patio, and paths leading to the orchards. The property is on 1.5 acres, fully self-contained with one new QUEEN bed Feb 2024 / bedroom, en suite, a double sofa bed in the open plan living area, and a portable crib with bedding provided. It can accommodate 4 people. It is a lovely warm place to stay in either summer or winter as it is north-facing and has a log fire for the winter, with air conditioning and heaters as required.
The property is an oasis of a variety of fruits in the orchards which covers the property. Most times of the year there is fruit. At the rear of the property is Driving Creek stream where the first gold was discovered in New Zealand and today you will find crystals there for a souvenir.

Within walking distance (5min) is the famous Driving Creek Railway, where Barry Brickell, a world-famous potter has established a truly fascinating environment, with potters and his world-famous railway PLUS there is now the Driving Creek Wildlife Sanctuary and a new Art Gallery which will exhibit Barry's private collection of very famous artists not to forget the fabulous views of the harbor and islands. Also, see the re-establishment of native trees and wildlife. On the way stop off at the funky Driving Creek Cafe.

The historic village of Coromandel is under 3km away, with fabulous restaurants and craft shops. The 3 local pubs all provide courtesy vans door-to-door. The cottage is 5-8 minutes to the closest safe beach or under 30 mins to the beautiful Whangapoua, NEW CHUMS and Matarangi Beaches on the East Coast, suitable for surfing, sailing, and boogie boarding

The secluded 140-year-old two room Gold Prospector's cabin-type cottage is completely separate from the host's main house, and is screened off with olive bushes and trees. Outside the cottage you'll find a small porch with some seating and an outdoor picnic table with views into the orchard, making it a great place to view the regions bird life whilst enjoying your evening meal.

The property features a wide driveway access to the cottage and the lower part of the private garden and orchard making it the ideal base to explore this beautiful upper region of the Coromandel Peninsular.

A lovely 2 bedroom cottage, clean and well presented. Ideal for family, couples and fishing groups. Close base to the heart of Coromandel, beach, boat ramps golf course and parks.

The comfortable cottage has unlimited Wi-Fi, Sky TV/Sports and heat pump/air-conditioning. Bedroom 1 offers a queen bed and 2 singles, while room 2 a double. It has a self-catering kitchen with microwave, benchtop oven with 2 hot plate elements and all the utensils needed to cook up a storm. Your 4 burner BBQ is near your deck area where you can sit back and relax.

Ideal set up for those keen fishermen with ample flat parking, fish filleting table and smoke house, (see below). Hose down area for your boat also available.

Ideally located near Coromandel Township, less than 2 minutes drive to town, and a flat 10 minute stroll south east to Long Bay Beach and surrounding bush walks.

Hosts – Margaret and Kevin also live on site in a separate dwelling. They are quietly around and available if guests need assistance but are unobtrusive. Alternatively you can contact the manager of the property.

This lovely 3-bedroom unit is perfectly set up for a family and can sleep up to 6 people comfortably. There's enough parking for 2 cars and a boat and it's fully fenced. If you have space to bring bikes, there is a new bike track and skate park only 200 meters down the road that the kids will love. The Jacks point concrete boat ramp is a stones throw away and you can launch 2 hours either side of high tide.A full kitchen with an oven and cooktop, dishwasher and fridge/freezer for those who love to cook or if you'd prefer to dine out, it's only a 2-minute stroll to local bars and restaurants.

Our cottage is the perfect location to use for R&R or as a base for sightseeing around the Coromandel Peninsula.

The space

The turn into our driveway is on a very sharp corner, so please take great care when arriving of departing.

Our cosy holiday retreat is a short walk away (15-20 minutes) from Coromandel's quaint Main Street eateries, shops and bars. With a large deck and open plan lounge/diner, it's the perfect place to relax and use as a base to explore beautiful Coromandel peninsula or just chill!

Our home is a cute little rustic cottage, filled with things we have collected during our own travels. It's cosy and warm, well loved and full of character. It's certainly not a 5 star hotel but it's a great place to relax and unwind.

There is plenty to see and do on the peninsula. In the township there are many great restaurants, cafes, bars and takeaways. There are independently owned shops and galleries, public swimming pools, fabulous bush walks and the world famous (in New Zealand!) Driving Creek Railway. There is also great fishing, with Mussel Barge Snapper Safaris being a very popular choice for visitors without a boat of their own.

The Streamside cottage is situated right on the Whangarahi Stream in a forested nature lovers paradise.

The cottage is the 3rd dwelling on the property. It has a private backyard lawn area with direct access to the stream.

The space
Driving Creek Cottage is an airy, sunny, art-filled home with oak floors and windows that look out over a peaceful garden, and the Coromandel ranges beyond. The house is set back off the road, with ample parking and space for a boat. The garden is planted with natives and is very private, with no houses overlooking it. There is a gentle stream that runs along the boundary, a good spot to find quartz and cool off your feet.

There are decks at the front and back of the property, so you will always find a sunny (or shaded) spot to enjoy a New Zealand-roasted, specialty coffee in a locally hand thrown cup. In winter, a log burning fire creates a cosy, calm retreat after days spent exploring the expansive, wild beaches of the northern Coromandel.

With its refined simplicity, the calm and contemporary bathroom is a place to linger. There is a generous walk-in rain head shower, marble topped vanity, and a bath big enough for two. Curated Baina towelling and restorative self care products complete this revitalising space.

The kitchen is well equipped, with a huge collection of cookbooks for dinner inspiration. Otherwise, pick a novel from the bookcase and retire to the hammock for the afternoon.

Please be aware that if you have children, there is a creek running through the bottom of the garden that is not fenced off.

Driving Creek Cottage is an old house that has been added to over the years by various owners in classic Kiwi bach style. It has big, architectural doors and windows that lead out onto the front deck. These let in a lot of light and sun in summer, and can make it cold in winter. At the very least, the house takes a little while to warm up once the fire / heat pump are going.

We have done our best to make this house ‘winter-proof’ and as warm and cosy as possible. However, like many older houses in NZ, there is only single-glazing and limited insulation so sometimes the back end of the house can be a bit cold, particularly first thing in the morning. Similarly, there can be condensation on the windows during the colder months when you first wake up.

To make our guests as comfortable as possible, we provide the following:

- A heat pump in the front room
- A log-burning fire in the front room with wood / kindling etc provided
- A heat transfer system that pulls warm air from the front of the house to the back
- Goose down duvets and extra blankets
- Additional heater for the main bedroom / bathroom

If you are visiting us in Summer, there are blade fans in all the bedrooms, but generally we find keeping windows open during the day is sufficient.

Lovely 2-bedroom cottage with double bed and two twin beds; a quiet getaway in a scenic, secluded setting, a 3.5-kilometre stroll from town centre. Enjoy your morning coffee surrounded by beautiful gardens, listening to the birdsong of native New Zealand Tui and Bellbirds. Relax in the morning or afternoon sun and experience glorious sunsets from the deck with wonderful views of the Coromandel Harbour and bush-clad Coromandel hills.

The space
Throw open the sliding doors and enjoy this truly indoor outdoor house. Enjoy your meals al fresco on either of the expansive decks or in the courtyard patio. The kitchen windows fold back for wonderful views and provide a convenient pass-through for meals. Your choice of deck and your choice of view: Coromandel Harbour to the west and the Coromandel hills to the north. Depending upon the week, sheep may be found grazing in the adjacent paddock. Kereru, the native New Zealand pigeon, can be found perched on the native yellow-flowering Kowhai trees near the cottage. The Kereru is a large bird with iridescent green and bronze feathers on its head and back and a smart white vest. The noisy beat of its feathers is a distinctive sound in our forests (bush). Traditionally hunted by Maori for its meat and feathers, hunting of the bird is now illegal.
In the winter, snuggle under fluffy duvets and premium sheets. Dual-control electric blankets (aka electric mattress pads) make the beds toasty warm. Electric towel warmers can be found in both of the bathrooms.
The well-equipped kitchen, stocked with a variety of oils and spices, coffee and teas, make cooking a special meal a pleasure. In season, help yourself to fresh herbs from the garden and fresh fruit from the orchard. There are Award-Winning restaurants and cafes in town for those who prefer to experience the local fare. World-reknowned local green-lipped mussels and oysters are widely available.

This is a pet free property. Guests found to be in violation of this policy will be fined $100 per pet and asked to vacate the premises immediately, with no money refunded for forfeited time.
