The Cottage is approx. 50 sq metres in floor area and comprises open plan kitchenette and lounge with bathroom (on ground level) and loft with Queen double bed.

A large 'picture window' provides an expansive view from the waters edge out across the Bay. At full tide the waters edge reaches the front of the Cottage. French doors open to a patio area with BBQ and outdoor table.

To the right of the Cottage (facing the water) is a stretch of Reserve and trees bordering the road into Russell Village. Parking is alongside the Cottage.

- "Beautiful place! I loved everything about it - the view, the furniture, the kitchen supplies, the interiors, and the loft. Proximity to water is second to none. I loved waking up to the water view. We had some issue finding the place when checking in but Trish was easily reachable and super lovely and helpful. So overall I loved staying at this place! I just have three feedback. 1. If you google map the address it'll take you to the mainhouse driveway which is just 10m away from the boatshed one. So keep driving until you see "boatshed" sign. 2. The main entrance door was quite jammed to open although Trish got someone to fix it. We found it helpful to lift it up before pulling. 3. The outdoor bbq grill was mouldy so had to clean it properly before using."

Swimming is fun in the stream at high tide and there is shallow swimming from the beach although its a long walk to get deep water. Good swimming in the bay at Jills Beach within walking distance, and about 15 minutes drive to Eliotts Bay on the East Coast for sand and surf.
Walk to the old Whangamumu Whaling station or even to Cape Brett.

In Russell about 15 minutes away (17 km) are cafes, restaurants, tours (e.g. Hole in the Rock), fishing charters, museum, vineyards and oyster farm. The local mini bus tour is highly recommended.

Further afield Paihia, Waitangi and Kerikeri offer history, shopping, vineyards and golf.

Your hosts live in nearby house on the property and can assist with baby sitting and meeting your needs.

As unique as you can get! This gorgeous 1870's wooden chapel has been lovingly transported and restored into perfect holiday accommodation. The space is perfectly set up as a couples getaway providing an ideal escape from day to day life.
Located just 5 minutes drive from Russell, the Chapel at the Olive Grove is close enough to town to enjoy all there is to offer and it also has a Kitchenette and BBQ for those wishing to stay in for a quiet, romantic evening together.

The chapel was built in 1875 in Kawakawa, Bay of Islands by Irish coal miners and was formerly know as St Francis Xavier catholic church.
It is listed as a Category 2 Historic building with Heritage New Zealand and is constructed of 1 inch thick rough sawn Kauri planks.
It was moved to the site on the olive grove in 2012 by a local couple after it had fallen into disrepair and was no longer in use. It has been lovingly restored and set for its new life as holiday accommodation amongst the olive trees.

Because of the high ceiling and thick wooden walls the Chapel is lovely and cool in the hot summer months and we have an airconditioner/heatpump for added comfort.

Please do note that there is no TV. There is good wireless Wifi and a portable speaker if you would like to bring your own devise and streaming services to use
