This charming 2 bedroom, one bath ocean block cottage sleeps 5 comfortably and is situated in the heart of Dewey Beach. Close to all the attractions of Dewey all the while offering a family setting. The Jolly Trolley picks you up at the corner and takes you into Rehoboth Beach every 15 minutes or cross Rt. 1 and it will take you to the Bottle & Cork or the Rusty Rudder. Three major shopping areas have all the outlet shopping that one can dream of and you'll enjoy the tax free shopping that Delaware has to offer.
This cottage is pet friendly (for an additional fee) and is limited to families or responsible and respectful adults. Maximum 6 adults allowed. Nightly rentals available. Must supply your own linens and towels, however, when in need, we can accommodate. Cottage has one queen bed and 2 twin beds. Brand new sectional makes for great napping and additional sleep space. Air conditioning in all rooms is provided as well as off street tandem parking for 2 cars. Cottage also comes equipped with a new 65" smart TV in the living room. We are a Vrbo “Premier Host". This means a quick response, COVID procedure followed, and excellent post-stay reviews from renters. Max occupancy is 2, but we allow a third person with an additional fee of $200.
Exciting news for our renters. We've replaced the living room sofa with a brand new leather Barcalounger sofa with two reclining sections. Now you can lay back and enjoy the new 43" TV that has built-in Roku and includes free HBOMax, Hulu, and Peacock streaming services. Bring your passwords to use and watch Netflix, Apple TV, Disney+, and Prime. See the pictures I've updated to show these improvements. Just added for the 2022 season is a new coffee station that will brew a 12-cup pot or a single K-Cup of your favorite flavor from home.

We enforce a strict non-smoking policy on the premises, including the lawn area. Failure to comply can cause you to be asked to leave and loss of rental payment.
The cottage is located just two blocks from Rehoboth Ave and 2 1/2 blocks from the beach and boardwalk in South Rehoboth.. Close to everything, yet located in a quiet backyard setting. Set back from the main house with its' own parking for two cars. Master has a queen bed and the loft (must pass through this to get into Master) has a double bed. Enclosed porch with view of bamboo forest just outside. The bathroom (downstairs) has a shower only. Pets are allowed (we love ours too) with an additional $200 non-refundable payment. Please let me know when you book. Payment can be made at time of arrival. If you have more than one dog, we need to talk before you book.
Extended cable package and wireless Wifi included. 43' flatscreen with Ruko streaming downstairs and 32'upstairstairs. Both with DVD players and DVD library.
New in 2018, a newly remodeled kitchen with modern cabinets, granite countertops, a new refrigerator, and new flooring throughout the first floor.
Note: there is no dishwasher, garbage disposal, or washer/dryer. We are a classic beach cottage in that respect. There is a laundromat nearby.
The outside area has 2 Adirondack chairs, a picnic table, an enclosed shower with H&C water, clothesline, bike rack, and gas grill.
We also have a valid rental license from that City, which means we have been inspected for safety, cleanliness, and taxes paid. When you book you will see additional charges that every Vrbo rental has: taxes (4.5% for state), Vrbo fees, and host fees (in our case a cleaning fee of $75 and a city short term rental tax of $75.)

The added bonus is we were able to bring our Westie! The town is extremely dog-friendly and our Ruthie had as wonderful a time as we did. The kitchen is fully loaded if you choose to cook, however, with the variety of excellent restaurants and fast food within walking distance, we decided to treat ourselves to dining out - that in itself made the vacation even more special for this chief cook and bottle washer! - "Loved our stay in the upper cottage at the beach retreat. We loved that it was dog friendly and the beds, couches were super comfortable! There’s a nice outdoor space that is shared with the main house. We loved being able to walk to everything in the main part of town! It’s a second-floor apartment in a carriage house type cottage behind the main larger property. Everything was very clean and very well taken care of. There is one bedroom that is accessible through the bathroom, which was absolutely fine for our family, but might be a bit awkward for groups of friends (there are pocket doors). There’s not a lot of privacy because the other bed is in the main living area. It was terrific for us, and we would definitely return. Rehoboth is a magical place!"

I have named my beach cottage La Sauterelle – French for grasshopper – in honor of the copper grasshopper weather vane that has graced the top of my beach home for many years. The grasshopper is a symbol of good luck but I do not have them in the house!
This single family cottage is at the end of one of the last sandy lanes in Dewey Beach. It is only 50 yards or so back from the sand dunes, beach and ocean at the end of the street. Perfect for quick trips back and forth from the beach for lunch, snacks, refreshments or naps for the little ones. Wonderful outdoor shower. No major highway to cross in this residential area. And you can easily stroll to all the restaurants and entertainment in Dewey. We were a family of 3. The little dining table has chairs for 3 and can’t really fit more, but we had friends for dinner one night. Pulled the table over to the couch area and used couch/ottoman for seating around it and that worked. Really only negative that affected our trip was that the bunk bed in the “kids’ “ room was ridiculously squeaky. Like minimal movement made so much noise- kept waking the children up. I could hear it from the main bedroom, as well. I got them ear plugs which helped. Would strongly recommend replacing this bunk system with a sturdy wood one. Not an issue if you don’t have someone sleeping in the top bunk, though. Bottom bunk is a double bed, but my kids are boy/girl teenagers, so wouldn’t sleep together. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider coming back. 100% if that bunk bed gets replaced!! 😁"

This is a free standing cottage situated on a lot with two other similar cottages. Starfish Cottage occupies the front of the lot while the other two cottages occupy the rear lot area. Privacy is maximized for our cottage. There is a doorbell camera that views the driveway and street. This camera does not view the patio or cottage, nor is it monitored.

Walk to everything in town... restaurants, coffee shop at end of street, bars, town park, shopping, entertainment, or take the local open air 'Jolly Trolley' at the end of your street for a three minute ride to the Rehoboth Boardwalk. The Trolley runs every 20 minutes from 8 am to 1 am daily.

There are no "work arounds" - we've seen them all. **We only allow adults 30+ during this timeframe - this includes ALL people staying or visiting our cottage.** No exceptions. Not even if an adult or parent 30+ signs the lease.

Any actual or perceived violation of this rule will result in immediate eviction (locks changed regardless of personal belongings) and forfeiture of any remaining rent money, fees, security deposit + damages.

PLEASE NOTE: A $5000 fee will be added to your rental agreement during this timeframe. This fee is additional to other fees. This will be refunded if there are zero violations. We will be checking daily at various times.

We are off Saulsbury Street, mid-ocean block, south side, nestled among other cottages 5 lots from the beach. From our house to the surfline is 150 yards. On quiet nights you can hear the ocean from the bedroom windows.

Two bedrooms include one with a built-in full size double bed (storage space underneath) and one with a built-in bunk bed combination (full size double on the bottom and twin on the top). Living room has a full size futon.

Living room/dining room kitchen is a wonderful open space plan with partial cathedral ceiling and skylights. Living room has an indoor swing for kids which can be stowed out of the way if you wish. Games and puzzles for kids. Master bedroom and living room have skylights. There is a clothes washer/dryer. There is no dishwasher.

Dewey Beach occupancy laws allow 2 persons per bedroom plus 2 in a living area on a sleep sofa, making a maximum occupancy of 6 for our house. However, our cottage/small house is most comfortable for up to 4 adults or a family of up to 6 with children. Seating inside is a 3 seat futon plus 6 dining chairs. The house is 450 square feet in size.

It is about a mile to the town of Rehoboth, which has many attractions including the Boardwalk and Funland for kids. The Jolley Trolley runs every 10-15 minutes if the walk is too far. Fast food, casual and formal restaurants, as well as shops and activities, are available within steps in Dewey Beach.

We have vacationed here since we bought the house in 1995 as a childless couple waiting to adopt, and have precious and priceless memories of weekends and summer weeks here as our family expanded with two daughters from Russia (now 34 and 30), and a daughter and grandchildren from Mexico (30, 18, 15 and 9).

Over the years we have been blessed to share our vacation home with family, friends and tenants who have made memories of their own, and shared some with us through notes, cards and photos.

Our goal is to provide you with a wonderful vacation experience like we had in Rehoboth/Dewey Beach as children: a basic beach cottage with the ocean only steps away, and a place where kids can be kids and adults can relax and not be concerned about sand and wet suits.
