This very private cottage is located near the top of a hill and enclosed by stately trees -- it can't be seen from the road.
During the Fall and Winter and Spring, the cottage is available for only $150/night for a stay of at least three days or longer. This is a great time to think of where you might want to spend your Summer vacation or a special Holiday. The cottage is cool in the summer and warm and cozy in the winter.
Our guests have called this the 'fairytale' cottage, but we call it the Humming bird Cottage, but of course, the hummingbirds don't return until the end of April, but the brilliant red of the cardinals jump out from the Winter landscape. Most people wait until July and August to come to the Cape, but it has beauty at any time of year if you love nature and the sea.
In the Cottage we have installed a beautiful new Mitsubishi heater/air conditioner that keeps the whole cottage toasty warm in Winter, or soothingly cool in Summer. We also have a beautiful new 40" Sony TV and WIFI connection.
Spring, Summer or Fall is a great time of year for whale watching on the Dolphin Fleet, where the naturalists are wonderfully knowledgable. Or , perhaps, you would simply like walking the never-ending beaches like a poet, or, in Summer, swimming in the Atlantic Ocean, or Cape Cod Bay or the local ponds. There is plenty to do and see if you like art, theater, music, eating good food, shopping for unique gifts, or just want space to reflect on the beauty of a sunset .
We have wrap -around oceans, so you will rarely stray far from the Atlantic Ocean, Cape Cod Bay or the Pamet River estuary. Truro has some of the highest dunes -- Longnook -- and most beautiful beaches on the Cape: Ballston Beach, Longnook, Head of the Meadow, Coast Guard Beach, Corn Hill. The cottage does not sit on the water, but all the beaches are about five to ten minutes away. For sunsets Pamet Harbor, and Great Hollow Beach. and in nearby Provincetown, the panoramic sunsets of Race Point. I watch for whales breaching or spouting at Herring Cove. but I can also see them sometimes on walks along the trails at the tops of the dunes in Truro.
The cottage is sitting just below a pretty barn, very private, and nestled in a leafy dell with verdant trees enfolding it. You can eat your meals on the deck in the Summer. There are lots of flowers, and often, young rabbits hopping around if our friendly fox has not made an appearance. Flocks of wild turkeys may also make a stately parade across the land from time to time, especially in the Fall.
The cottage has a new washer and dryer, and a gas grill on the patio. The living room has a Chickering piano, original art on the walls, and a dining area overlooking the landscape. There is a summer blue bedroom with a queen-size bed, big closet, and a kitchen with a pantry. For summertime there are whisper -quiet ceiling fans in each room, and a new addition is a beautifully silent Mitsubishi air conditioner/heater/dehumidifier which has made the cottage a delight to be in. The cottage is very well insulated and heated, so it is toasty warm in Winter.
Wellfleet and Provincetown are a ten minute drive for memorable dining, shopping, and live theater. The Julie Harris Stage in Wellfleet, has plays, music and "Live from the Met'"operas in the Fall, Winter, Spring and even Summer. The Payomet has world famous musicians. The Provincetown Theater, and art galleries and museums , all are less than 15 minutes away by car or the nearby Flex bus. In the summertime, golfing at the Highland Links overlooking the Atlantic is like golfing in paradise. Nearby, are the famed Cape Cod Lighthouse and many treasures in the Truro Historical Museum.
The School for Arts at Castle Hill is right around the corner if you would like to take a class for part of the day while you are here. So you can choose to rest and relax , and at the same time, enrich your soul.
There is a good choice of restaurants in Truro, Wellfleet and Provincetown, and some overlook the water. Enjoy!
- "This is a super property located in Truro MA. We appointed, super clean in a private area at the bottom of the owners property. Cannot recommend enough as a home from home if you are staying on Cape Cod. Ideally situated to explore the North of cape cod, and only 15 or so miles away from Orleans. Fabulous beaches are a stones throw!" - "Lovely, quiet, private but accessible to everything on the outer cape. Would definitely return." - "We thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet and comfort of the cottage. A terrific location, tucked away, with easy access to shops, beaches, bike paths, and more."

- "Cottage was great, location was even better!" - "Just as I remembered it .... perfect" - "This cottage (and its community) is nothing short of magic… we’re so fortunate to have discovered this gem. Its location on the cape is second to none in terms of views, the beach, and its proximity to the nearby towns. The cottage is the definition of rustic - so if that’s not your thing, then this place is not for you. But - if you understand and appreciate the pure beauty of such a rustic cottage experience, in such a historic and beautiful location - well then this place is a true and rare find. It feels like this little community of cottages is hidden away from the world, suspended in time from long ago. Our neighbors were amazing and wonderful connections / friendships were made. My children ran about freely, giggling, playing in the sand, making friends, playing games…. Adults sat on porches, grilled dinners, chatted on the viewing deck at sunset, shared food… stories, memories. The ocean breeze was the BEST, and the sunsets were breathtaking. We cannot wait to return next year, and truly hope to do so yearly. We’re so, so thankful to have discovered this slice of heaven on Cape Cod."

The house is very clean and comfortable, well equipped for cooking and grilling, which we did almost every day. We really enjoyed meeting our hosts, Peter and Dilys were friendly and welcoming. One of the best parts was picking up fresh veggies from the farm stand right in the front yard!" - "We had another wonderful stay at the cottage. So comfortable, and everything we needed to feel right at home! Besides the fully equipped kitchen, cozy king bed, awesome indoor and outdoor showers, the thing that always gets me is the way the air moves through this house! With windows on all sides and skylights the ocean air sails through the space in the most delicious way!"

Fantastic family destination. Also great for one couple or family, or as many as three couples, and extended families. Many repeat guests over many decades.

- "This was the seventh house we've stayed in on the Cape and it was all of our favorite. The location, view, and grounds are fabulous. The house is comfortable and cozy with wonderful water views, cross ventilation, a great outdoor shower and everything we needed to cook at home. The rooms/beds were comfortable and the house was very clean and didn't have the common musty smell. The owner was very quick to return emails. We enjoyed every aspect of it and would love to stay there again!"

- "We loved our week at the cottage. The owner has decorated the tiny and sweet Cottage beautifully paying attention to the rustic nature of the place but using lovely visual touches. The kitchen is well equipped. The only two things to be aware of is that the walk to the beach is a past the cottages through a small parking lot and down many stairs. We didn’t have a problem with this, but if there are mobility issues… it’s a lot of stairs. But what an amazing beach! Totally perfect. The only other issue to be aware of is that the bedrooms are upstairs and the bathroom is downstairs. So going to the bathroom at night is a little adventurous. We were ok with it since we loved this place so much but it can be tricky at night on the wooden stairs. I had brought battery operated small “candles” to help me see my way at night on the stairs and that helped."

This 50's ranch cottage--built by my grandfather-- sits high up on the edge of Tom's Hill in a remote spot in Truro. It affords you a 360 degree view and plenty of privacy. Enjoy a spectacular marsh view while taking an outdoor shower; take a private path for a 5-minute walk to the bay (Cornhill) beach; gaze at the Pamet harbor and river from the kitchen sink. Our wrap-around deck offers shade and ever-changing views of the sunrise, marsh, harbor, and sunset over the bay all the way to Provincetown, including bay views from bathrooms and 2 of the 4 bedrooms. The casual, eclectic decor with paintings by Jewel Ryman create a relaxed, cozy atmosphere. This is not a trophy home with granite counters and fancy fixtures--it is authentic and retro to give you a real Cape Cod experience.
Bed set-up: 1 queen; 2 doubles (each in a separate room); 2 twins in one room.
Pets are negotiable.

Whale watch, shopping at P-Town, 4th of July fireworks, too many beaches to count, biking, restaurants, mini golf and more. This house had a great location and lovely peace and quiet. Enjoyed thoroughly. - July 2023
- "We had originally booked another property but 4 weeks before the stay it got cancelled because the property sold. This was a last minute booking to save our vacation and we were not disappointed. Easy driving access to all the Truro beaches, I biked from the property every day as well. The house was very clean and well furnished. I was concerned that it would be a little small for a family of 4 but it worked out fine and was great. Neighbors were pleasant and quiet. Great little space to stay with quick access to everything Truro has to offer."

“The Dove” is a 19th Century summer cottage on our very private land in Truro, Massachusetts on Cape Cod. It’s about a 2/3 mile walk to bayside Corn Hill Beach along the green marshes of the Little Pamet. The Dove is one of three houses on the property. We live in the 18th Century Main House nearby. Another larger cottage is rented by a year-round resident. ****THE DOVE COTTAGE RENTAL IS A SEVEN NIGHT MINIMUM STAY FROM JULY 5 TO SEPTEMBER 6, 2025, CHECK IN AND CHECK OUT ON SATURDAYS****
The Dove is a simple summer cottage: rustic, cozy, charming, and comfortable. It has steep stairs up to the bedroom, where there is one twin and one double bed. This arrangement snugly accommodates a maximum of two persons, no exceptions. Please--due to safety concerns, no children under the age of ten. On the main floor is a living room/dining room, fully-equipped kitchen, bathroom with vintage half clawfoot tub/shower. There is an outdoor shower, gas grill, wifi, window unit AC, and plenty of fans. In front of the cottage guests may enjoy a shady outdoor seating area. Guests are encouraged to bring their own bed linens and bath towels, but if this is a hardship we can provide sheets and towels for an added fee of $100. There is a washer but no dryer. Guests are welcome to use the ample clothesline nearby. Trash and recycling bins are provided. Camping on the land is not permitted. There is parking for two vehicles. The cottage is about a twelve minute drive to both Provincetown and Wellfleet.
Our place is lovely, quiet, and reminiscent of old Cape Cod. We have animals on our property: chickens (including a friendly vocal rooster), our sweet cat Marquesa, and our friendly dog Saylor. Please do not bring your own pets, but we hope you enjoy meeting ours.
At the close of a Dove stay we ask that our guests leave the cottage in good order: floors broom-clean, soiled linens piled on top of the washer, fridge emptied of all food, trash and recycling placed in the bins provided. We look forward to accommodating you!

This Truro cottage is located on Corn HIll, the highest dune overlooking Cape Cod Bay, with a view of Provincetown across the water. It is part of a small cottage community built around 1900 to accommodate renters during the Victorian era. A famous painting by Edward Hopper features the cottages on the top the Hill, and photos of the cottages are commonly found on postcards and in local art.
A private beach is accessed by beach stairs. The two-story cottage has 2 bedrooms, one with a queen bed and futon trundle bed (converts to two twins), and another with two twin beds. For extra guests, the living room includes a sofa converting to a queen size futon. The full bathroom offers a corner shower. Stay connected with WiFi during your stay. The kitchen is very well equipped, providing both drip and espresso coffee makers, a wide array of utensils, and a huge range of spices for those who like to cook.
Each day on Corn Hill is punctuated with two main events: the sunset over the Bay every evening, and low tide, where one can explore the sea life and even dig up a few clams for dinner!
In addition to the private beach for the cottages, several ocean beaches (both National Seashore and Truro Town beaches) on the other side of the peninsula are within 2-5 miles. Provincetown is 6 miles away, where one can go on a whale watch, a sunset cruise on the "Bay Lady II" schooner, or a dune buggy tour of the Provincelands dunes; explore the history of the spot where the Pilgrims first landed; and enjoy the multitude of shops and restaurants along Commercial Street.
Numerous walking/hiking/biking trails are in the area, and one can visit (and climb if desired) the Highland lighthouse in Truro, or climb the Pilgrim Monument in Provincetown for a magnificent view of the Cape.
In short, there is no end to the activities one can enjoy in the area!
The Corn Hill cottage community is family-friendly, and it is not uncommon for lasting friendships among kids playing around the cottages to be formed. As a result, many renters return year after year, so available rentals are scarce.
