"Welcome to Prestons Haven named for our son - Preston who is a very happy and active 6 year old boy. When I was a boy close in age to Preston, my father had a place one street behind Captain Dunbar on Roberts Road. Our cottage was named "SeaCargo". My brothers and I used to walk past - scratch that - run past Prestons Haven on the way to the beach every day throughout the summers during our childhoods. We continued to run into the same families and kids every single summer until we all "out grew" coming to the beach with our parents. We were here before the additions of Ocean Edge close to the bay - we would follow the streams up from the bay and find a perfect spot to build water dams, castles, forts and leave markers showing our stake at the bay...only to awake for it to have been all reset by mother nature. We would restart again the next day. I remember getting stung by my first jellyfish that I thought was so cool to pick up...NOT. I remember my brothers and I wearing the net shirts thinking that would block out the sun but soon to find out we started a new style of sunburn on the skin. I remember riding our bicycles to the local store around the corner for 25 cent comic books and an ice cream cone. I remember when we rode our bicycles through Nickerson State Park and thought we would never make it home. Two cozy bedrooms with one named Captain Quarters with a double sized bed and another named Crew Quarters with three twin beds - all have new foam mattresses for that restful night after a day on the beach. Enjoy the basic amenities that a beach cottage can provide with AC window units and Internet/Wi-Fi plus streaming TV with your own login. There is a full bathroom with shower only and a separate standalone outdoor shower for your use. Approaching the home, you will notice the care taken to preserve the colorful plantings that surround the cottage. The bright hues of the flowering plants accent the bold blue door that welcomes you to the screened porch which runs the length of the front of the home. Within the screened porch, you will find a seating area with comfortable furniture at one end and a table with seating for four at the other. The screened porch doubles the living space of the home and allows you to cap off your sun-soaked beach days by unwinding where you can take in the coastal breeze and the ambiance of this idyllic location.

Inside the formal front door, you will find yourself in the living room of this home. Flanked with comfortable seating, a window unit AC and featuring a smart TV with cable/streaming capabilities, the space provides comfort amenities to its guests while exuding a timeless charm by maintaining its beautiful antique fireplace as the focal point (not for guest use).

On the right of the living space is access to the Primary bedroom, Captain Quarters, which offers a Double sized bed, ample closet space and a window AC unit to keep cool!

Continuing toward the back of the home, you will enter the kitchen with plenty of counterspace for meal preparation as well as a dining table for two that could be used for additional prep space for the chef if needed.

On the right of the kitchen is the bunk room, the Crew Quarters, which provides three Twin sized beds - two in the bunk and an additional bed via trundle.

Location:
The cottage is conveniently located close to 6A, but not near the traffic of 6A and rests in a quiet U-shaped lane. It is .4 miles from Paine's Creek Beach (walk or drop off) and a short 1.5 mile drive to Mant's Landing (AKA Robin’s Hill- permit parking and drop off). A short walk away you can find Dunkin Donuts, Luke Liquors, Kate's Seafood and Ice Cream, Lemon Tree Village Shops and Cape Cod's Museum of Natural of Natural History is about .5 miles away as well, but it is located on 6A so driving is recommended.

Beaches:
Brewster is known for the sunsets, seascape, hiking, kayaking, and stripe bass fishing! “Brewster is one of those gems that seems to have been built for the pail-and-shovel crowd, who lounge in the tidal pools or scramble to find fiddler and horseshoe crabs. Plan to be there at high tide, or you may have to walk a mile to get from the beach to the water’s edge.”

PROPERTY DESCRIPTION
The Brewster Beach Cottage is located in the lovely Foster Road neighborhood in Brewster and less than a 5 minute walk to a 1/2-mile private association beach on Cape Cod Bay. The Cottage is a 1 bedroom (sleeps 2), 1 bathroom cottage. Tenants are to provide their own Linens, Towels & Toiletries. It has an eat-in kitchen, a sitting area with 39" SMART/HDTV & Internet Wi-Fi service, 1 full bathroom, and 1 bedroom with a queen bed. The cottage has many windows and room fans which keep it cool for sleeping nights. For those hot summer days & nights a new LG Split Ductless AC/Heating System has been added. Outside, there is a patio with picnic table for 4, lounge chairs for reading and relaxing, and an outdoor gas grill for cooking the catch of the day.

Cape Cod Bay and the Brewster Flats are only footsteps away with access to the exclusive private association beach. The Brewster flats are the largest tidal flats in North America, covering 12,000 acres across a 10 mile stretch. The soft, white, sandy, private ½ mile beach is never crowded. The Bay water is warm and great to swim in at a comfortable 65-80 degrees in the summer. The Brewster sand flats are incredible at low tide and extend for 2 miles out into the bay. This makes a perfect playground for children and adults alike to explore the tidal pools searching for small fish, shells, and crabs. It is also a great place to go sea clamming.

In the 1800's, over 50 sea captains returned to shore, building mansions for their families. Today, many are beautifully preserved inns for the public. Nicknamed the "The Sea Captain's Town" for its notable charm. The Stony Brook Grist Mill was once a hub of commerce, with the mill grinding corn and the factory village creating shoes, furniture, and fabric.

.The property is situated off of historic route 6A which is home to many charming antique shops, local stores, fine and casual dining and of course The Brewster General Store where you can get penny candy for 25 cents. It is also a short bike ride from the house to the Cape Cod Rail trail where you can ride your bike to Wellfleet or Dennis. The Brewster Whitecaps (of the premier college Cape Cod Baseball League) home field is also a short drive or walk across route 6A and is always a great way to see up and coming baseball prospects and perhaps get a signed ball by the next Big Papi.

Along with the Brewster Beach Cottage there is the 3 bedroom , 2 full bath Brewster Beach House (VRBO property listing #916878) on the property that can be rented on its own or in conjunction with the cottage for additional guests. This combination of houses offers a unique opportunity for guests to invite grandparents, family or friends to join them on vacation while having a private space of their own.

Prime vacation rental weeks in July & August have a minimum stay of 7 days per week Saturday to Saturday. Off season weeks in April, May, June, September & October have minimum stays of 4 days per week starting on any day at a reduced daily rate.

I asked him for some restaurant recommendations and he kindly provided some options. The wifi worked well and the instructional binder in the cottage provided answers to any other questions I had. We did not interact with Gerry or Lois during the rest of our weeklong stay as we had no other questions and everything was fairly straightforward. The location is very close to the beach (Cape Cod Bay) and not far from nearby restaurants, bakeries, and the Cape Cod rail trail. I would recommend this spot for a solo traveler or a couple. The cottage is behind a larger three bedroom home that my sister's family occupied during our weeklong stay. The proximity of the two properties is ideal for two families or a group of friends vacationing together."

Sweet one bedroom cottage in the heart of Brewster. Nicely renovated with fully equipped kitchen, gas range, full sized refrigerator. There is a queen pull out sofa in the living room and a dining area. The separate bedroom has a queen bed. Out back is a private patio with picnic table and gas grill. Fresh and clean throughout. Walk to shops, great restaurants, and just seven tenths of a mile to the beach. We are also right on the bike trail where you can ride from Dennis to Wellfleet, Harwich to Chatham with stops at ocean beaches and fresh water ponds along the way. Nickerson State Park is very close by as well. The Cape Cod National Seashore is a short drive away. No cleaning fee if the cottage is left in a neat and clean condition. $35.00 flat fee extra for linens or bring your own.

This cottage compound offers a perfect Cape Cod family vacation. Access the private beach by a path off the back steps past the gardens.
The property consists of two buildings connected by a mutual brick patio comfortably furnished for cookouts. Care is taken so flower gardens change seasonally with annuals and perennials. The main cottage has three bedrooms and sleeps six. Across the patio is an additional building. A spiral staircase entwined with wisteria leads the way to a private room for two.

We appreciated the no shoes policy, as it prevented tracking in sand from the beach. So nice to wake up each morning to a clean floor without sand everywhere! It’s right off a main drag in Brewster. 45 minutes to Provincetown, and less than 30 minutes to several other attractions in Yarmouth, Dennis or other locations. The best part - a quick 12 minute walk to Ellis Landing Beach. A quiet, classic New England beach spot where at low tide, you can walk for what seems like miles offshore. We spent several hours per day there and the family loved it!"

Cancellation policy: Refund only if the cottage is re-rented. We usually are able to re-rent the cottage with at least a 2 week notice, especially for the in-season weeks. A $50.00 service fee will be charged. Last minute emergency cancellations will be discussed individually.
