- "A lovely four day stay in Vermont. Inn was perfect, with gardens to enjoy and lots of lounges and nooks to spend time and read. We had a suite with a separate sitting room, which allowed us to have our daughter accompany us on a last minute visit. Paul and his staff are super accommodating and are genuinely friendly hosts. Paul also cooks all the breakfasts which are superb! Different breakfasts each day, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious!"

The bed was super comfortable. The outside are was really nice, although it was raining so I didn't get to enjoy it. I eventually found my way to the office where my key code envelope was waiting on the clipboard for me. No contact check in was great. Amy called to make sure I was able to check in and recommended a Thai food truck a couple miles down the road that had the most amazing food!! Brought take out back to my room and enjoyed a nice night inn!"

Built on the foundation of the original barn of an 1830s farmhouse, this cottage offers you 1,200 square feet of tranquility all year around. Hiking, mountain biking, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, ice skating, skiing, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, golf, and, of course, fall leaf peeping is at your doorstep. Or venture no farther than the windows and skylights to view spectacular sunrises, wildlife, Vermont’s iconic moonlight, and stellar stargazing. Mount Snow (26 miles) and Stratton Mountain (32 miles) are less than an hour's scenic drive, and Brattleboro's Living Memorial Park offers a mini-ski lift for winter family fun.
You’ll enjoy the open flow downstairs with a large kitchen, living room, and dining area. An office/study, equipped with a pull out queen-sized sofa for extra bed space, and a combination half bath/laundry room with washer/dryer complete the first floor. Upstairs, two spacious bedrooms (queen and twin beds) with skylights and ample closet space bookend a large complete bath.
Serenity Cottage offers plenty of privacy, with its own yard, framed by woods and a rock garden. A lily garden brightens the front, which also features original stone walls and century-old apple trees. Putney Road conveniences, I-91, and the enticements of Brattleboro are within minutes, yet remain a world apart. We're dog friendly.

Had all the amenities that we needed. Nice location close to Brattleboro." - "We loved our stay at Serenity Cottage!! The house was actually bigger than the pictures look and for our family of 3 the size was perfect. We could have comfortably had 2 more guests in the downstairs den!! The location feels like it is super remote but it is actually quite close to town (grocery store and food trucks about 7 minute drive). The location is ideal for jogging as well. There are several beautiful loops and side roads to explore. The hosts were available as needed and we felt very welcomed and totally at home. We hope to be back one day soon!!"

Bask in the beauty of rural Vermont while nestled in the woods of a cozy cottage along the Green River. Sit on the front deck and enjoy the sounds of the river or stargaze while surrounded by the enchanting beauty of the rolling emerald hills. Right outside the door you can walk, bike or jog for miles on quiet scenic dirt roads. Located on a dirt road 20 minutes from Brattleboro and just a few miles from the Massachusetts border, our cottage is the perfect place to relax or enjoy all the area has to offer.
COTTAGE:
Our three bedroom, one bath cottage, is the perfect escape for couples or groups. The right size to feel cozy on a romantic getaway and spacious enough to host a family/group of six. Custom touches throughout with our slate light switch covers and river rock knobs. Tastefully, simply decorated with unique wall art and furnishings.
We have a fully stocked kitchen- plenty of dishes, cutlery, cookware, cooking oil, spices. Gas range/oven, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, toaster oven and programmable drip coffee maker.
For entertainment we have a Roku device so you can stream on our 55” flat screen in living room and a 40" Smart TV in master bedroom. Hand drums, board games, adult and children’s books, as well as coloring books/crayons and children's toys.
**No baseboard heaters upstairs, so it stays cooler than main floor during cold weather, but we have lots of extra blankets to keep you toasty warm. We suggest placing one of our fans at the bottom of stairs to push the warm air up.** Both upstairs bedrooms have an A/C and we have four fans that will be there year round. There is also an A/C in the downstairs living room.
PRIVATE YARD:
Private yard with gas grill and fire pit-we provide the wood. We have converted the garage into a patio area with a dining table where you can enjoy meals and be protected from the occasional summer thunder storm. A deck on the front of the house allows for the perfect place to listen to the river, enjoy morning coffee and evening libations, read a book, stargaze and watch the moonrise. There’s a picnic table behind our barn where you can drink in the serene sight and sounds of the brook.
Access the brook behind our barn— our property is bordered by Jelly Mill Brook and Green River.
We won’t be at the house to greet you. We respect your privacy and will not drop in. We do live right down the road if you need us for anything.
OUTDOOR ACTIVITES in IDYLLIC LOCATION :
We live in an area popular with bikers, walkers, and runners for the MILES of quiet country dirt roads right outside the door. A mile and half down the road lands you in the quaint 1800s village of Green River complete with covered bridge, church, and small timber dam where you can swim and enjoy a picnic lunch.
OTHER THINGS to NOTE:
*Located in Guilford, Vermont, we are a 20 minute drive from Brattleboro where you will find the nearest grocery stores, restaurants, and gas stations. You will also travel on about four miles of dirt road to get here.
*Winter tires or AWD/4WD are highly suggested during the winter months.*
*There is no cell service in our area. We do have WiFi and a landline.
- "I had a wonderful time at The cozy cottage." - "Wonderful place, beautiful location. We will definitely be back! The house was well equipped for us to mostly stay put. Even though we were close to towns and outdoor activities, we were content to spend much of our time right on the property." - "My husband and teenage son enjoyed this secluded and quiet property alongside the river. The home was clean and perfect for them to cook dinners, hike the local area and just relax. Owners were very welcoming and easy to communicate with. They did not bring bikes this time but if they return they recommend bringing mountain bikes to enjoy the many dirt roads and beautiful area. They loved the ice cream place and the covered bridge. Thank you!"

I bought this church from the Roman Catholic Diocese 15 years ago.
25 foot cathedral ceilings, six burner cook stove, soapstone farm sink, double shower heads, two full baths, original stained glass with beautiful morning light. House yoga mats, gas fireplace, 40" flat screen with cable and couch and stuff chairs for lounging and talking, 9' cherry dining table
The stained glass is original and is illuminated each morning by the sunrise coming up over the hill. This stunning space is the result of a three year renovation. The curved walls and archways create a true sanctuary like space that is hard to leave once you are there.
Stratton Mountain is 30 minutes to the access road and under 35 to Mount Snow. Brattleboro, just five minutes away, has been voted consistently as one of the best small towns in America to visit. If you want to ski, snow shoe, shop, eat, sip local brew and explore the town, or never leave the Sanctuary, this is your spot!
The master suite is up in the extended 'choir loft' that I built out to make a spacious bedroom and dressing room, and has it's own full bath with double-headed shower and 54" claw-foot tub.
There are two beautiful, very small private rooms to the left and right of what used to be the altar. They feature curved walls, queen beds, and a large skylight in each. There is a full bathroom for these rooms with European style shower as well as full laundry for the house.
The kitchen is a chef's delight with a six burner, two grill, double oven Garland Restaurant gas stove, double soapstone farm sink and beautifully detailed concrete countertops. Lots of counter space and a large farm table island in the middle provide adequate prep, serving and 'hang out' space (everyone seems to love to congregate in the kitchen!).
The heat is radiant floor which is wonderful for this space with 25' vaulted ceilings. There is also a propane instant on-demand glass door fireplace on the 'altar' for ambience throughout the space and cozying up to after a day on the mountains.
The TV lounge under the choir loft has couches and a lounge chair for watching movies, reading and relaxing. We have cable, Netflix and Amazon capability through the Blue Ray player, and of course, high speed Internet.
There are country roads for walking, a wonderful river to visit nearby, a great neighborhood if you want to make friends, and the US post office right in the village.
The Church is a most welcoming and generous space for one to six!
- "This place is a gem. We were looking for a getaway that allowed us downtime, relaxation and was centrally located to our interests. (Outdoor activities) Not only did we have those needs met but the kitchen was well appointed and the space is so beautiful that it helped us recharge in ways we couldn’t have imagined. Natalie is a friendly, responsive and easy to work with host. We will be returning!!" - "A well situated former church in a small Vermont village. Natalie did everything to help us to have a wonderful stay."

- "Stayed here with a group of 6 friends, was a great time! We went to mount snow for the weekend, was very accessible from the town!" - "We had an overall lovely stay at Ben’s place. Comfortable beds, great location, easy check-in, and communicative host. There were a number of cleaning issues (the upstairs bathroom had not been cleaned, cleaning supplies in the kitchen had not been refilled, recycling was full inside when we arrived) but once we shared with Ben he was responsive, apologetic, and issued a partial refund. Bedrooms and common living areas were clean and pleasant. Otherwise, our stay was wonderful and we’d be happy to stay again!"

- "Lovely quiet room with view of beautiful garden and gazebo. Enjoyed walking the Land Trust trails behind the house. Didn't know the room is upstairs, but it wasn't a problem for us, and it made the garden view even better. Friendly, helpful host. Thanks!" - "Beautifully prepared, lovely view, hiking trails directly behind house, a bit noisy car traffic during day"

- "The Mirror house was just the perfect place for my wife and I to getaway and reconnect! The house itself was very clean, warm and beautifully decorated. The hot tub, sauna and upstairs “glass room” allowed us to feel as though we were at a spa allowing us to relax and spend time just being together. The natural views and “isolation” helped us to feel like it was just the two of us. This is an ideal place if you are looking to get away with the one you love."

Enjoy a converted camper as your private getaway in Southern VT. Less than 10 min to downtown Brattleboro, yet nestled in the woods for a quiet retreat. Full galley kitchen and living/lounge area. Wood stove for primary heating (electric backup for not so cold days). Outdoor spaces include a fire pit, deck, pool table, hot outdoor shower, outhouse (composting toilet), and forest for galavanting.
The place is a perfect fit for two adults (queen bed) and one kid (63" long fold down couch).
The space
***it's firefly season! come experience the magical bioluminescent spectacle right from the camper. it'll all be over in a couple weeks***
***road condition update*** The road and driveway are in good condition. Any car (including two-wheel drive) should have no problem getting up the hill and to the property.
You'll love the convenient location to many amenities without sacrificing quietude. If you're looking for a space to focus on work or for a launchpad to explore southern VT, the Forest Hideaway has you covered! Just minutes to Brattleboro's shops, bars, and restaurants and dozens of nearby swimming holes and hiking trails. The Forest Hideaway is also just 45 minutes to Mount Snow and the Green Mountains. I am always happy to share recommendations to my favorite local spots, so don't be afraid to ask! The Forest Hideaway is located on a 7 acre homestead that includes my house (300' distance) where I am residing. The cleared section of my property has power lines on it but the camper is tucked away into the forest. Please be aware that my property is 1.4 miles up a relatively steep dead end dirt road. It can get quite torn up during mudseason (when the ground thaws). Your (2WD) car might have issues getting up the road during those times. Please contact me ahead of time for more up to date info.
Guest access
The forest around the camper is open for your exploration. Feel free to use any outdoor areas including the lawn platform under the power lines which has the best views and sunbathing opportunities. Please respect posted signs of adjacent properties. Hunting is not allowed, fires only in the firepit. You can purchase split and dried campfire wood for $10 per box (2ft³) on site.
Other things to note
Although it has all the essentials for a comfortable stay, the Forest Hideaway is a minimal and rustic space.
Shower and outhouse are located outside. The hot shower works year-round though. The "bathroom" is a composting outhouse 100' away from the camper which is also used by me. Don't expect marble floors and a heated toto-bd-toilet lol. The PRIMARY HEAT comes from a WOOD STOVE, so guests must be comfortable operating the wood stove. A step-by-step operating manual and all necessary materials will be provided (including firewood), and I can give instructions in person as well. There is a back-up electric heater as well to prevent icy mornings (mostly a winter concern) and for the not so cold days. It keeps the inside warm when it's 32°F (0°C) outside, at which point the wood stove has to be fired up if it gets any colder.
Coffee is provided by me! Any food in the camper is fair game for consumption.
Useful accessories to bring: flashlights, slippers, microspikes for your boots in the winter as the path ices up often.
Wi-Fi and pretty good cell service from all the carriers is available.
Firewood for bonfires can be purchased on site for $10/2ft². You may also collect wood from the forest.

1886 Folk Victorian House built for the burgeoning “middle sort” of Brattleboro. Originally a two family the retired owner (Robert) is staying in the West room while he rehabs the 2nd floor. No noisy machines are used when guests are in the house.
The entire first floor has been rehabbed back to it’s first decade with a few more modern tasteful changes. You would share the apartment with quiet, friendly, considerate, people; a one or two night/week regular guest or an Airbnb guest or all to yourself.
“Shoes Off” household.
Non-smokers/no vaping!
NEW; mini-split heat pumps for heat/AC in each room.
Laundry use for guest’s clothes only; NOT from another stay/location or non-guest.
NOTE: “Single-Nighters” do not have stove top cooking privileges.
Several hundred guests have visited the 1886 Folk Victorian Bliss house in Brattleboro, VT therefore ALL reviews compare guests with other guests who had similar “lengths of stay.”
Guest access
You have full access to the nice front porch, sunny cheerful comfortable living room, tight but ample full bath, full sized "eat-in" kitchen with pantry.
Some tea, coffee supplied to start you off. The Brattleboro Food Co-op is within an easy walking distance. It is similar to a Trader Joe’s or small Whole Foods.
During your stay
Have as much or as little interaction as you would like.
Other things to note
3 steps up to the entry porch. Claw foot tub with shower has a higher step-in height than 20th & 21st Century tubs; hold on to the rim as you step in if you are balanced challenged.
NEW: High efficiency heat pump provides individual heat or AC for each room. Set your own temp.

Your unique Vermont retreat is just a click away! Come stay in this custom built tiny house in southern Vermont. We are an easy walk to the train station, art museum, restaurants, shops, and many beautiful nature spots in and around Brattleboro VT, plus a 40 minute drive to the Mount Snow ski area, and local hiking, swimming, boating, skiing, and skating opportunities. A nature lover's paradise! Enjoy the great outdoors and small town living, or cozy up in the tiny house and just relax.
The space
Our tiny house is, well, tiny! 😊 The downstairs space is 8' x 16' and 13' high which includes a small bathroom with a composting toilet and shower, and the upstairs sleeping loft is 8' x 8'. There is a two burner hot plate as well as all the dishes and cooking tools you'll need, a microwave, electric kettle, toaster, and coffee and tea supplies. We are located in a suburban neighborhood with lots of family friend houses and yards in the immediate vicinity. You will likely hear children playing, and folks walking their dogs or playing music or sports, especially in the summer when windows are open. Parking is limited especially in the winter, so please check with us ahead of time if you have extra vehicles. We have curated a collection of books by local Vermont authors and artists for you to enjoy, and we're very proud of our little town. We have really enjoyed designing a beautiful and efficient space, and can't wait to share it with you!
Guest access
Check in is at 3 pm, and we will leave the keys under the mat of the tiny house steps, just outside the door. You can park directly in front of the tiny house, which is easiest to get to if you follow your GPS to 72 Blakeslee St in Brattleboro VT. That's our neighbor's address, but it will drop you off directly at the tiny house in our back yard, which you can park right in front of for easy access. Let us know what time you’re arriving and we can leave a light on for you if it’s after dark.
Other things to note
Lots of folks have questions about the composting toilet. It is very clean and sanitary, and we find that it actually smells better than a normal flush toilet! All users must be seated so that liquid waste can go in the front partition, and solid waste can go in the back along with any toilet paper. You should always close the lid when you are finished so that the fan can work properly. No other maintenance is needed.

This spacious studio apartment is located in the former Swedish Congregational Church in historic Swedeville, a secluded hilly neighborhood built by Swedish immigrants in the 1800's. For years it housed Rick and Liza’s stained glass studio, which they have now lovingly and creatively transformed into a residence.
The rental is minutes from the interstate and one mile from downtown Brattleboro, but the neighborhood has a rural and somewhat European flavor to it.
The space
This 20x20 rental has ten foot high pressed tin ceilings, arched windows, stained glass, a comfortable queen sized bed as well as a twin sized day bed which converts to a king sized bed. The space offers a private subway-tiled bathroom with shower.
The kitchenette is equipped with a sink (new this year) fridge with freezer (also new) induction hot plate, toaster oven, microwave, french press coffee maker, coffee grinder, tea pot, dishes and utensils. We provide the fixings for coffee and tea for your use.
We have a lovely vegetable and flower garden. You can expect to be greeted by roses or peonies or morning glories depending on the season. The October foliage is outstanding in this area and this neighborhood has some strikingly brilliant trees. During the winter when it snows, the neighborhood looks wonderful coated in sparkling white!
Please note that there is a long term rental apartment above this space. You may on occasion hear footsteps on the stairs above. We soundproofed the space a year ago so any sound is minimal.
Guest access
NOTE: Temporarily we are not allowing use of the washer drier due to health concerns with the latest virus. We will let you know if and when this changes.
Other things to note
We use insulated window quilts in the room to keep the room cozy at night in the winter - and cool during the hottest of summer days. Please let down the quilts when the room is dark and, in the summer, let down the quilts when you are away during the day to keep the room remarkably cool.
We ask that guests keep the noise level down after ten pm. There is a tenant in the apartment above so we ask that guests are mindful of noise at night.
NOTE: We now have heat pumps/ie. mini-splits which gives you control over how hot or cool you want the place.

Formerly a musician's retreat, the view from the studio looks out over the lovely Green Mountains of Southern Vermont. Well insulated for sound and comfort, the studio offers privacy, peace and quiet and a chance to relax in the serene beauty of the Vermont woods.
The space
We converted the music studio into a guest suite, adding a modern kitchen and bath (shower only, no tub). The carpeted living space is well heated in Winter and has air conditioning in Summer. Recessed lighting adds to its understated charm. With 100 mile views of the mountains, the studio also offers full drapes for our guests who like to sleep in and is amply soundproofed.
The kitchen features a new electric stove, microwave, apartment-sized refrigerator, coffee maker, pots, pans, cutlery and dishes. We provide spices and most condiments, tea and coffee, and some yummy Vermont treats. Pure artesian well water runs from the tap and is full of healthy minerals.
The main space holds a queen bed with new mattress and luxury topper, and a small couch which folds out to a single bed. A twin-sized air mattress with full beddings is also available upon request. The studio is accessible by stairs, with a private ground floor entrance off the garage, separated from the main house by a shared breezeway. High-speed internet is included for our guests who prefer not to unplug while visiting.
On a clear night constellations and the milky way can be seen overhead just outside the front door. Due to family allergies, no pets are present on this property, although you may see local wildlife including turkeys, deer, and occasionally bobcats and porcupines. We are fifteen minutes from the vibrant arts and cultural scene of Brattleboro, and forty-five minutes from Amherst, Massachusetts. Mount Snow Ski Resort is an hour away.
Guest access
We offer lots of privacy, and only interact with guests if there is a need. (We do host in our house as well, which is reflected in our reviews). Easy parking is available right out front. High-speed internet is provided to all our guests. Sorry, we do not have a TV..
A lovely winding road leading from the studion offers an easy stroll, and there are many hiking and cross country trails nearby. On a clear night, enjoy unobstructed views of the constellations and milky way, and sometimes aurora borealis (northern lights).
Other things to note
** We observe strict cleaning policies, making sure that all shared surfaces and beddings are disinfected for the comfort and safety of our guests.
** No smoking or open flames are allowed on the property.
** This property is pet-free due to allergies
(although you might see deer, wild turkeys, and other wildlife during your stay).
** The piano in the studio is available for use, but is not well-maintained.
** We have recently upgraded to highspeed internet!
** We live up a dirt road which can be challenging to travel after a snowstorm. Snow tires and all-wheel drive are highly recommended during the Winter months.

You will have your own separate entrance to the second floor of the two-unit multifamily house where your unit is located. This is a very private, spacious, and quiet location.
Other things to note
I aim to provide a peaceful and mutually respectful environment. I have prepared and cleaned the unit with this in mind. In turn, guests’ belongings should be confined to their unit, and they should be mindful of their noise level, turning off all appliances, and locking all doors whenever exiting the residence. In these and other ways not mentioned, guests ongoing respect for other residents in the building will be both expected and appreciated throughout their stay.
